Springfield Missouri can be unique when trying to find good food, found this place via the Internet. For starters we had the scotch egg which was delicious, the hummus which was tasty and the chicken livers, always love a good chicken liver. My group had a variety of the entrées which were all pretty good I had the patty melt which was interesting because it came on big pumpernickel so a bit to much bread for me but the burger was good . The beer and wine selection was good and I had a very tasty IPA. I recommend you give this place a try share your results. read more

The food here is really good. The waitress we had was amazing too. However, the hostess told us that it would be a 30 min wait and we waited a full hour. An older gentlemen walked in while we were waiting and asked the time of wait and was told 30 min. He promptly turned around and while leaving stated " that's what you told me last time and we waited over an hour." That was our experience too. The hostess even said "yeah he probably did." As he walked away. I wish they would tell the correct times so people can plan or choose to not wait. read more

A disappointing visit this time. Completely unlike our other visits here. We did go during the day which may have made the difference? Immediately upon arrival we knew it was different. The hostess was getting ready to seat us and I told her we'd like to sit in the bar area. She said "I'm trying to give some tables to someone" and seated us elsewhere. There were another 3 tables seated in our area afterwards. There would have been 4 but as she was trying to seat one table they said they wanted to be in the bar area. Apparently they requested correctly because they were taken there immediately. On to the food, I ordered the roasted beet salad. There were absolutely no beets in it...instead there were craisins. I asked our server if this was the correct salad and she said it was and never asked any questions....and just walked away. We also ordered the cottage pie and fish & chips. Everything except the fries/chips was very under-seasoned. The fish was so oily/greasy tasting that's all you could taste. The mushy peas were delicious after I seasoned them. This used to be a great restaurant, but I'm not sure what went wrong on my most recent visit. The pan seared cod was excellent. The arugula salad, however, was a joke. It was supposed to be served with chevre, and there was a pea-size of chevre on the salad. That's not an exaggeration, either. It was supposed to have olive oil as its dressing, and there was no olive oil. All of the toppings were under the salad instead of on top. I ended up returning the salad and they comped it, but there was no offer to allow me to order something else because the server never checked on us during our meal, so the salad wasn't returned until the server brought the check. In my previous review, I mentioned that I'll be sticking to the British-style dishes. Unfortunately, they've removed them all from the menu. Nothing even remotely resembling traditional British pub food--not even so much as shepherd's pie. So, although they also no longer have the Blue Burger, I ordered a burger again. And again, it was massively overcooked. I ordered it medium and it came out well-done and dry as a hockey puck. The bun was dry and cracking, too, and if there was any pub sauce on it (as advertised), it was too little to notice, much less give any moisture to the burger. My dining companion's roast beef sandwich, which I sampled, was more interesting but still underwhelming. Service was very good, and I'll admit the sweet potato bisque soup was quite delicious. Too bad the rest of the meal didn't equal that. Something happened with Farmer's Gastropub a year or two ago. It lost its charm and quality. I think it's off my list for now until I hear word that they get their quality issues under control. Sad, because it used to be one of my favorite haunts. read more

Loved this place! Our waitress was nice, she was attentive without being overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious and I love that they use locally sourced ingredients. Stopped in for lunch and was on my own so bellied up to the bar for a pub lunch. The owner stopped by and introduced himself and thanked me for stopping in which is very nice indeed. Ordered the classic fish and chips with a German beer. The fish came out larger than I expected with a nice flaky crust. Need to add a little salt but I skipped the house tartar sauce that I've heard is excellent but an allergy I have makes it a no no. Fries very good classic cut fries. Really enjoyed them. Sad to write this review because I wanted this place to be good. Unfortunately, this Gastropub with a heavy English theme barely has anything English on the menu. Fried chicken, burgers, ramen (???), spicy curry (???), and hummus (???) are all part of the menu. It's eclectic and carries no theme. It also doesn't taste good. I did, however, order the fish and chips with a side of mushy peas. The peas were complete mush and rather pasty, rather than slightly mushed with whole peas scattered throughout like it's supposed to be. It felt like I was eating baby food that was also under seasoned. The fries were over cooked and must have been sitting for a little while because they were soggy. They were well salted, so that was nice. The Icelandic cod was over battered and soggy on the bottom. No nice hard crunch that you'd expect. It also didn't really taste like anything. Mildly fishy. Despite hummus being out of place, I ordered it. It has the consistency of a thick paste rather than being smooth and decadent. It needed some oil to thin it out. They must make it in bulk and leave it sitting for the day. And finally, they boast about being sourced from local farms in Missouri. Nothing on the menu would even mildly hint that that was the case. But, even if it were the case that you could tell that all of the products used are locally sourced, why in the world would you then make the menu English????? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to use local Missouri ingredients for a Missouri/Midwestern menu? Anyways, you should probably avoid this place. We chose this restaurant as it was in close proximity to our hotel and we wanted to enjoy a Sunday brunch. We were impressed with the offering of cocktails and excited for the food as we had read this establishment had an Ward winning chef. Not sure what he was awarded with but I can tell you it was the absolute worst food I've eaten in a very long time. I live in the Dallas area and come up to Springfield, Missouri pretty frequently. This is one of my favorite stops. You will forgive me for no pictures today I didn't think of it until after the meal. I had the mushroom sage soup which is just my favorite soup on the planet. It is flavorful, hearty, savory and one of those dishes you'd like to pick it up and lick the bottom of the bowl! I have recently transitioned to gluten-free and their menu has big GF's on all their gluten-free selections. I loved this. And a lot was gluten-free. I had the salad with pan-seared cod and it was perfectly done. The fish was not overcooked nor undercooked. A nice sear ...cooked through, perfect. Services always impeccable. My favorite is still Rachel. But the others are typically highly efficient and friendly. if you haven't tried them I would heartily recommend you watch their Facebook for specials. We love this place. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the servers are always friendly and efficient. The inside feels like an authentic British pub (or how you'd imagine one to be!), and they have a great patio for enjoying your meal outside on these lovely spring days. Today we had one of our favorites, the organic grassfed burger, which is huge and cooked so well, very juicy. Grassfed beef is worlds beyond cornfed beef in taste! The bun looks homemade, and it comes with an adorable little jar of yummy homemade pickles on the side. We got a side salad with it, which was high quality mixed greens with sliced almonds and feta cheese, and their house made mustard vinaigrette. We ate every bite. Since it was the brunch hour, we also got the Biscuit Breakfast. Wow this was excellent! We'd never had their breakfast/brunch before and it certainly didn't disappoint. The biscuits were homemade, with homemade sausage gravy, three big beautiful slices of bacon, 2 local eggs, and amazingly delicious triple fried breakfast potatoes with homemade ketchup. Everything was cooked perfectly. This is breakfast how it should be. We also ordered a side of French toast (which wasn't offered as a side, but our server didn't hesitate to accommodate). Sooo delicious with their homemade bourbon pecan syrup. The syrup had such wonderful flavor, with pieces of pecans in it, but somehow was not overly sweet like most syrups are that are made with corn syrup. To top off the excellent meal and lovely outdoor dining, our server, Mandy, was wonderful. She was so friendly and smiling whenever she spoke to us. She was the kind of server who knows when you need her, and lets you alone to your conversation when you don't. So my husband and I stopped in here on our way to ride the Katy Trail. The Pirate Mule and house wine were excellent. The smoked Trout deviled eggs were a perfect starter. My husband had the blackened catfish and he was really impressed. I had the Icelandic Cod and Oh My God!!!! Perfectly executed! Cheers to the chef!!! I replaced the potatoes with a side house salad and it was perfect for me. The service was an A+++. My fish was so promising but it grew soggy so much so that I felt I had to hurry up and eat it. That made me sad. The salad I had was a kale Cesar. Yummy with a perfect fried egg yolk.
