We had just wrapped up our Angel Oak experience and from our extensive cellphone search, we decided…read moreon this spot because their menu on Google featured hibachi bites, sushi options as well as BBQ and some seafood. Welp, upon entering the big, very cold and empty restaurant, our server informed us that they only had the BBQ portion. This was a blow to my vegan friend so she only ordered fries. The fries were small, dry and looked like they were mostly the castoff end bits. I ordered 1/2 dozen chargrilled oysters. It was my first time tasting oysters this way and they were juicy and delicious and seasoned. I dropped 2 drops of hot sauce with 1 drop of their house sweet vinegar sauce. Yum but absolutely miniscule portions and why was the bread so plain? Could they have toasted the slices, please? Or given me a pat of some cool garlic butter or what not? For $18, I was starving. The woebegone fries were $4. Our server was friendly enough but not attentive nor helpful in recommendations. My friend had to walk and get him to bring our check.

Glad we popped in to try the newest iteration-- we miss the OG Blu Sushi / we're still okay with…read morethe Blu Hibachi/ but very glad they changed to the current Blu Smoke! The pulled pork was some of the best I've had (stand alone without sauce) in a while with a true wood smoked taste that wasn't as dry as the wood chips used to smoke it with! But, that Smoked Turkey though... it just might have taken the #1 spot for me personally! The Beef Cheeks were the stars in the beefy arena - tender and juicy! The smoked 1/2 Chicken was tasty too -- maintained the moisture but might have needed just a touch longer on the rotisserie -- it's a delicate balance with chicken getting it cooked all the way through but not drying it out. Ribs were VERY delish (I don't normally like ribs, but these were smaller & literally fell off the bone when I went to take one)... Brisket was a touch dry compared to the beef cheeks, so those would be the preference over the Brisket going forward. The sauces. Don't normally like vinegar but this was a sweet slight heat! Plus red (ketchup) and yellow (mustard). Mix em up! But try the meats before you slather them in the sauce bc they really don't need it! They need to improve on the sides, though - I'm GF and my BF has Celiac. Basically, all the BBQ Meats and BBQ sauces are GF... And from what we were able to eat sidewise, we opted for the potato salad (too much mustard & a very hard boiled egg, but still decent) & cucumber salad (overly marinated & pickled, but still okay)-- the bread & butter pickles with onion served with the meats were our palate's preferred pickle; the slaw, collards & beans are also GF, but I can't do beans either & we didn't really care for the slaw at Blu Oyster prior, so we leaned to the other veggie options. Also other GF options-- baked/loaded potatoes, salads w/o croutons, stuffed jalepenos, burgers/sandwiches without the bun/bread... We weren't offered the wrap option, nor shown the BOH notes floating around and we were steered in the proper direction for Celiac by Meghan. Also, technically, still GF, just have Cross-Contamination due to a shared frier and NOT safe for Celiac are the fried nacho chips... but we weren't offered those bc we mentioned Celiac. The Daisy Duke was really stellar; loved the dark rum, Dr. p & special cherry touch! Also, the Cadillac/Mustang Margarita? (The name escapes me but at the top of the menu) with a nice slow heat from the fresh jalapeno which paired nicely with the sweetness of the pineapple. Prices are a touch high, but would definitely go back for some tasty, smoky meats in the future, maybe to go.

Small parking spaces so you would have to rely on street parking on busier days however I was lucky to park behind the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. Service was excellent! Let's talk about the food! I ordered a 3 meat combo: Brisket, Pork Ribs, and Pulled Pork. My favorite was the brisket however I wish it was sliced not chopped nevertheless it was tasty. The Pork ribs were delicious as well but I wish it was more tender. Pulled pork was nicely seasoned but not my personal preference of meats however it was my first time so I had to get a little taste of everything. I will definitely be back to try their brisket sandwich! The sides: Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese, and Cornbread that all come with the combo. I enjoyed these sides as they hit what southern sides are all about. No problem there!

My husband and I shared a plate of brisket, ribs, beans, cornbread and mac & cheese. The meat just melts in your mouth! You don't even need teeth to eat it, that's how tender it is! And those beans!! The restaurant itself is not at all fancy, even rustic one might say, but I came to eat, not look at decor. You stand in line and tell them what you want and they slice it right there and you move to the next station for sides and then drinks. So we got two whole beef cheeks and the Puerto Rican beans. I asked the fella behind the counter if I wanted the hash and rice or the beans and he said definitely the beans. Boy was he right. Make sure to get the house made pickles and pickled onions as they add the perfect amount of acid to the rich beef cheeks. I am a barbecue pork fanatic. Even after living in Texas where brisket and the beef rib are king, I favor pork. Today I jumped to the beef side. Beef cheeks that is. So tender that no knife was needed. Smokey with a flavor I can't describe because I never had them before. Heavenly. Those Puerto Rican beans also had a combination of flavors I haven't had before. LOVED THEM!!! They did not have wine although the website said they did, but I lived. Dog friendly as well. My daughter is coming from NYC and I can't wait for her to try them. You should as well.

The texture was fine, but the flavor of the sauce was too sweet for me. It did come with a unique square of cornbread, which was really moist and good. - I ordered the wings because they needed the dressing. They came along with it to make the flavor profile. I wasn't a fan of them without the dressing. They were also a little dry. I would give them a 3 out of 5. - The appetizer, the cornbread itself, had a nice butter topping for it. The cornbread seemed to have corn bits in it, which were chewy, but the cornbread was also dry, so I'd have to give it a 2 out of 5. - The empanadas themselves were cooked a little long, but the filling was really good. The flavors of the corn and everything together made it a 5 out of 5. They were a little pricey for two empanadas, but it was the star of the meal. I would definitely say the empanadas are a 4 out of 5 only because of the quantity that you get for the price. - The mocktail that they made was super sour. It needed some simple syrup to tone it down, but flavor-wise, it was good. I would have to give the entire experience a 3 out of 5.

This year we were able to snag a reservation for the four of us at 4pm on a Wednesday. I was so excited to try this buffet. Yes, it is a little pricey, but I was ready to indulge and make the price point worth it! We got there about 5 minutes early and we were let right in. The kids were given a scavenger hunt where they had to find turtles with letters on them and then unscramble the word. That was very cute and kept them busy for a bit. I went right over to the oyster section where fresh oysters were brought over to high top tables. A lovely worker taught me how to properly shuck an oyster and I felt like a pro. The oysters were DELICIOUS, and I made sure to eat as much as I could as I am the only family member who eats them. The rest of the family spent their time at the BBQ section. I did as well. I had the salad, corn muffins, ribs, roasted chicken, dirty rice (which was A+), and so much more! Oh and I also had the seafood boil. The food is good, but to be honest - with all the other delicious spots for this kind of food in the area it was just not up to that standard. Also, the dessert section was lacking. Mostly pre-made desserts with a little ice cream cart. The kids loved it, but it was just kind of meh for me. I do have to say - I am SO glad we did it. I think it was a great experience. The views were amazing. The whole idea is so very fun. The live entertainment was great. And the staff went above and beyond. It's probably a once in a lifetime thing we will do and that's fine by me! Thank you to the staff and everyone who made Mingo Point Oyster Roast and BBQ a fun experience for me and my family.
