Everybody needs to try Fat Cheeks at least once in their life! I've heard so many great things about their lobster rolls, and it really lives up to the hype! Now located in Ward Centre next to Roger Dunn Golf, below Try Coffee, you order inside and grab your food outside. There's about 5 tables directly outside of the shop and another 3-4 tables around the area. When we went on a weekday afternoon around 12:30p it was quite busy. We were told the wait would be about 20-25 minutes for our lobster roll (MP - $21) and hot chicken sandwich ($13.50) We got a buzzer and walked around, found a table and waited for our order. It took quite a while for our food to come out, and after almost 40 minutes, we asked about our food and they told us that the payment didn't complete and didn't go through. They re-took our order and got it to us ASAP and resolved the matter so professionally. The long wait was totally worth it. Each sandwich comes with a bag of Hawaiian Brand potato chips, and was a great portion for the price. The bread of the lobster roll was generously buttered and was absolutely chock-full of lobster. This was probably the best value lobster roll I've had on the island. The Hot Chicken Sandwich was super hefty with two large pieces of hot & wet chicken with really tasty pickles, and a slab of their creamy Fat Cheeks sauce. This sandwich packed some heat and the chicken pieces were not only super thick but also incredibly flavorful with a nice tangy kick. Yes yes yes! Went to grab lunch in the Ala Moana area and saw this place on yelp and had to go. I'm typically not a lobster fan (I'm a MD blue crab queen) but figured because I was visiting Hawaii, I had to check it out. It did not disappoint. you order from inside the mall and pick up your food on the outside in the sitting area which I have a pictured. I waited around 15 minutes for my food and it wasn't busy at the time. I went around noon. The staff was nice but you don't interact with them much apart from ordering and picking up. However, the music and vibes coming from inside the kitchen was fun and energetic! I got mine to-go because I wasn't sure how crowded it would be. I ordered the truffle bacon lobster roll, mango lemonade, and a side of fat cheek sauce. The truffle bacon lobster roll is one of the more expensive items on the menu. I believe it is the second most expensive so I spent a pretty penny. That's why I gave it 4 stars over 5 due to the high price of the meal. However, I would 100% go back and get it again regardless of the price. As I said before, I'm not a lobster fan but this was awesome and the fat cheeks sauce MADE it. The only comment I have would be to add a bit more bacon but overall fire first lobster roll!!! She listens to customers and takes care of them. For example... I called and asked if I could order takeout. Levina warned me that the lobster was sold out. Right away, I expressed my deepest disappointment with a large sigh. I really was sad because I wracked my brain to figure out what to bring to mom's house for my sister's last meal in Honolulu. Levina wanted to check on something and came back on the phone saying that my voice sounded familiar. I kept her guessing as I told her how I wanted my family to taste her decadent cooking. She said, "Nadine!!!" I answered, "Yes!!!" Levina said that she was saving her last two Lobster Rolls for "her guy", but she would let me have them. I replied, "Really?" We ordered a Cheese Burger with fries and a Chicken Sandwich. The Cheese Burger was juicy and tasty and the fries were perfect. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, it tasted like there was a seasoning on it. The Chicken Sanwich came with 2 huge chicken pieces. I think using one piece would've been more than enough as one piece needed to be removed just to get your mouth around the Sandwich. Don't get me wrong, the chicken was delicious! This place is incredible. First, the person who helped us at the register today was incredibly nice and was so welcoming to us. She asked about our day, plans for the holidays and just made us feel like we were talking with a friend and catching lunch with them. It took about 20 mins to get our food which isn't bad, we enjoyed the outdoor seating (had plenty of shade) and let our toddler run around. As far as the food goes, this is by far the best fish and fries and the best lobster roll I've ever had in my life. Portions are huge, the food is fresh, flavors are perfection. They even make their own homemade tartar sauce which was a pickle lovers dream. The fish was THICK pieces of flakey white juicy fish with a very thin crispy layer of batter, I mean super thin which is great. Omg this place was delicious! It was my first food stop when visiting Waikiki, definitely worth the walk from my hotel. It's pretty close to the resorts, but way more reasonable in price. We tried the double chicken sandwich, a lobster double cheeseburger, fries, and a lemon curd tart for under $50. All the portions were huge! We ended up throwing away half our burgers and fries because we were stuffed. Chicken sandwich was crispy, not spicy but flavorful, and the pickles were delicious. It was such a big sandwich it was almost comical. Lobster cheeseburger was a new way to satisfy both cravings, and something not offered everywhere. The burger patties were hand smashed, not pre formed, and very juicy. The lobster was a tiny bit overdone, but I only noticed because I pulled a giant claw meat out my burger to taste it. I thought that one lobster roll wouldn't be enough to fill me up and I'd have to order more food, but I was fine with just one. The quality was pretty good, and the portion of lobster was decent. Lobster rolls for the purist. If you want bread and meat, this place is for you. There is no filler here. No shredded lettuce, no artificial crab meat salad, no nonsense. Just well prepared lobster and a fresh bun. And they are not "shellfish" here. Generous portions of meat on the sandwich. There are a few options for garlic, mayo, lemon. But for the most part, you get to enjoy your large marine crustacean in all its glory. The web ordering and curb side pickup were very convenient. This restaurant is now located at Ward Village near where the old Kakaako Kitchen and Famous Footwear used to be. In my opinion, a much better location than where it used to be (in the old Sports Authority on Ward). In addition to my "lobby" roll, I got the clam chowder and the bisque. The bisque tasted like chili Fritos (the ones that taste a little like dirt, but still eatible). Okay, but not spectacular. The chowder is good, but doesn't have much clam meat. Mister wanted to try a lobster roll, so he did. He cut a piece for me to try (my first lobster roll bite!) I'm not a fan of shelled fish, but the bread looked good, it was so buttery and soft, the outside was firm enough to make it easy to eat. I placed an online order for curbside pickup and all the logistics for that went smoothly. You can wait in the loading zone which is ideal because the workers can see you through a window. But if those 3ish spots are taken you can also park in the 30min stalls a little further in on the left behind Piggy Smalls and they'll look for you there as well. I tried the standard buttered lobster roll. I would describe it as a great, no-nonsense lobster roll, i.e. a roll with lobster and no fillers. The bread was tasty and had soaked up just the right amount of garlic butter from the lobster! I would like to go back and try other flavors. I also tried the spicy shrimp bisque which was not for me. There was a good amount of shrimp but it kind of just tasted...smoky? Not really creamy or like any bisque I've had before. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon around 1 so luckily it wasn't too packed because there are probably only about 10 tables outside for you to sit. A very hearty slice of tomato added contrast, along with the onions, and lettuce. #5 Binders The cheese and sauce worked in tandem to not only hold everything together, but also allowed for a rich, (but not too rich) very satisfying lobster and burger experience. I have been told I have a pretty big mouth, and this burger barely fits in my mouth. It is a five napkin burger, but it was delicious down to the last bite. Love the new location of Fat Cheeks which has moved into the Ward Centre. They are now located on the ground floor of the Ward Centre @1200 Ala Moana Boulevard and right next to Roger Dunn Golf Shop (right across Diamondhead Chocolatiers). They are in the space that Mocha Java used to be in. Love that one does not have to fight the crowd to get into the previous location inside OMP. There is still free parking in the structure; now covered parking. Fat Cheeks has been in their newer location under a week now. Signage is coming soon. Do look for the "Ward Village" sign which is right above their order counter. Also posted is their menu. While menu is still a bit limited, owner Levina says that they will be adding more items as they get settled in. They also have much more kitchen space so they have not "normally" been running out of their delicious food like in previous space. Still, their food is as delicious as ever so, do yourself a favor and get their fast! This last trip I discovered the deliciousness of the "spicy" shrimp bisque. Fair warning, it does pack a punch! I finally got to try Fat Cheeks' lobster roll yesterday! I went with a coworker who is a fellow food lover. We discovered that we have similar views on the lobster rolls from Feast and Royal Lobster, so we decided to compare Fat Cheeks together. It was still quiet when arrived at approx. 12:30 on Friday, so our food was ready pretty quickly. Coworker ordered lobster BLT ($18.75), fries ($4), peppercorn Parmesan sauce ($1.25), and truffle Mayo sauce ($2); I had buttered lobster roll ($20.92) with potato salad (+$1.50) and lemon curd tart ($5). Everything was delicious! My roll was warm and buttery, and there were visible chunky pieces of lobster in a slightly creamy/buttery (tastes like light mayo mix) sauce. I did find some imitation crab meat deeper in the bun. The potato salad is not to my taste but my coworker liked it because she loves dill. The fries were good and crispy and seasoned like curly fries. The sauces packed A LOT of flavor! Highly recommended if you're a sauce person and you dip everything in sauces!! The lemon curd tart was exceptional!! It was super light, not too sweet or tart, and the crust was perfectly buttery/shortbread-y. Verdict: we both prefer Fat Cheeks over Feast (too much mayo and other mixins, esp for the price), but we like Royal Lobster most for their fresh and sweet lobster, with butter and seasoning on the side. I think we'd be willing to make the drive to Ward for lunch in the future. :) The girls working the counter were sweet and friendly! My husband loves the clam chowder he gives it 4 stars. It's tasty with lots of bacon bits and comes with croutons. I tried the butter garlic lobster roll. The bread was thick and nicely toasted. My roll had a nice piece of claw meat and one of tail meat. Although there was a lot of other meat, about 75% of the meat was the skinny leg meat which has a mushier texture than the tail or claws. From reading the earlier Yelp reviews about Fat Cheeks Hawaii, it appears that Fat Cheeks has revamped their menu, as I no longer see the Papa Pig, or the Beef Brisket sandwich, nor do I see the Chuck Steak, or Fish plate dishes anymore. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely NOT, as the seafood rolls are F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S!!! If you don't believe me, you should have seen the super long line of folks today............ waiting in line just to order some kind of seafood roll from Fat Cheeks Hawaii! Upon waiting in line, good thing the line moved pretty quickly, and when we got to the ordering counter, we ordered the following items - 1. Lobster Roll & Chips ($15.00) - You have a choice of dressed, butter, or plain. 2. Trio & Chips ($16.00) - The Trio Roll is basically - 1/2 Crawfish Roll, 1/2 Shrimp Roll, & 1/2 Crab Roll. If you wanna get the Lobster Roll, you can do a substitution of one of the Rolls, but there is an additional ($4.00). Which I did today, by substituting a Lobster Roll in place of my Shrimp Roll. 3. Small Clam Chowder ($4,00) - The Clam Chowder comes with homemade croutons, and it's topped with bacon. 4. The Crawfish was the sleeper for me, as I was expecting a "fishy" taste, but Fat Cheeks did a fabulous job with the Crawfish, as it had a very nice spicy sauce mixed into the Crawfish. As the the Clam Chowder............it was okay, nothing special in my eyes, but a soup and fabulous sandwich always sounds good to me! Lol! My friend Jennifer had the Lobster Roll, & Lemon Curd Tart. She said the Lobster roll was really good & filling. As for the Lemon Curd Tart, she liked it a lot too. I don't know how long Fat Cheeks has been here in Ward Center right next to Roger Dunn cos I didn't notice it the last time I went to RD last year (maybe cos they changed things around due to Covid?). I'm happy that I noticed them this time and decided to give them a try for lunch. I went to RD to buy some items and my friend called me about getting some lunch. I told him about FC since it was staring me in the face so when he got here with his son, we walked to the counter inside the mall to place our orders (as directed by their sign outside at the pickup counter). My friend was born and raised in Connecticut and grew up eating lobster rolls so wanted to try their roll and clam chowder. His son ordered the chicken sandwich and I went with the Cubano. The Cubano sandwich was very well made with ham and moist, tasty pork, mustard, cheese and some flavorful chimichurri on a toasty roll pressed to perfection. My friend really enjoyed his lobster roll and chowder. I've had lobster rolls from Feast 808 in Manoa and from Cousins Main Lobster in Vegas so I think I'll try theirs next time to compare; but it seems to be on part tastewise and for just $17 is a bargain. The lobster is drizzled with garlic butter and the roll looks buttery and toasted to perfection. You order inside from the counter (or online) and they give you a beeper to notify you when your order is ready. You pickup your orders outside at the window and can sit at one of the tables nearby. They've got a pretty nice variety in the menu... both in food types and ethnic styles and they all sound awesome. The staff were very friendly and I think this is one place that definitely will be on my "try everything on the menu" list and I will be back very soon. read more

It was delicious Got the butter lobster roll cause it's the number one thing on their menu.. And the mango lemonade I think they cheated me out of my bag of chips tho' I read somewhere on the menu and online it comes with chips and a drink but they never gave me chips.. so minus stars for not giving me chips with my two orders of butter crab rolls... which I think I paid for because it's priced in the meal. But anyway. It was delicious Wait was kinda long, I would suggest order online and pick up because the seating outdoors is pretty much like buying food anywhere and sitting on a park bench. But at ward shopping center. Parking is good here. I think they were training some new people today. The lobster was yummy pretty good portioning in the lobster meat. The lobster roll and lemon curd tart from here are fantastic. I got the butter herb lobster roll and that sucker was loaded with chunks of real lobster. I hate when places use fillers. There was none here, just all lobster meat. The roll was only about 5 inches long, but was enough to fill me. The bread is baked by the owner's wife. It was toasted to perfection. Their lemon tart is one of the best that I've ever had. It was creamy with the right amount of tartness to it. I believe that this is also made in house by the owner's wife. The clam chowder and shrimp bisque weren't bad. I preferred the clam chowder. I can't do spicy foods and the shrimp bisque packs a punch. They actually tell you that when ordering. They also sell Cajun crawfish roll, shrimp roll, and crab roll. All rolls come with a small bag of potato chips. read more
