I have come here often and unfortunately after craving the famous lobster bisque. Chef decided to change it up. The pastry was not baked into the the soup it laid on top?! I'm giving 5 stars, not because this is my favorite place, but because people should try it. It has a rat-pack menu...for those too young to get that reference to the Sinatra era Italian-American restaurants, it has stuff like rack of lamb, chicken Cordon Bleu and lots of pasta dishes. The place is small with a kitschy decor. But it has a real chef... not just a cook. He/she is not a Michelin Star chef and I like my recipes better than his-- too much Marsala in one sauce, too much salt in another, but they are real recipes and not industrial foods. Actually liked his scalloped potatoes best. But the other treat: they do not have a bar tender-- they have a mixologist. I ordered a nice rat-pack cocktail-- a Rusty Nail. The young lady brought over the drink after about 10 minutes. She explained that she made it from scratch with bitters and honey etc. She did not use Drambuie. I was skeptical, but tired it anyway. Guess what? It tasted like a Rusty Nail! Well, actually it tasted like a Rusty Nail the way that brand-x tastes like Best Foods. It wasn't the best, but acceptable. One of my companions decided to challenge her skills and ordered another cocktail-- a Snickers Bar. That one also tasted right but not quite sweet enough. I'm sure if he ordered another with that feedback, she would have adjusted her recipe. This could be a fun game: challenge the mixologist! Fremont has many good Asian restaurants. A hand full of chains, but only four classic European style establishment that are locally owned: This is one of them, and it deserves to be tried. There may be more but I haven't found them. Had a great experience tonight! Great food, crab cakes for appetizer, then I got the salmon penne pasta..so good! Though I wish they had put fresh Parmesan on top. ‍My husband got the Chipotle pork..which was excellent! Fresh water infused with a bit of lemon I think, and when I asked for lemon got several small lemons cut in half, perfect for squeezing. Just wish they had a better vinegar sauce for dipping the bread, just vinegar and oil bottles on the table. Could you add some garlic and rosemary or other herbs? The restaurant is small and ambiance is confusing. It is dark and noisy inside. You are greeted by human sized pirate statues. I had reservations so we were seated immediately. The portions and service were good. But the food lacked seasoning and my husband's drink was bitter. read more

So disappointed. Made reservations for my birthday. Arrived at 6 pm on a Friday and was seated right away because the place was completely empty except for the employee drinking at the bar. Waitress appeared to not understand our drink order and didn't get the drink order correct. Waited quite a while for the drinks to arrive, a simple beer (that she didn't even know the beer selection) and a sangria, that tasted like grape juice along with two vodka sodas with lime. The beer came out first, then 10 minutes later the sangria. Then another 10 minutes for the vodka soda which had no vodka in it. Had to call over the one gentlemen that we thought spoke English to clarify that we needed vodka in the drinks. He went back to the bar and brought out shots of vodka for the soda water. Everyone was nice but service was horrible and the food was not good. We initially chose this restaurant based on the positive yelp reviews, We did not experience quality food or good service. Good grub almighty! It's not every day I slap myself after each bite of food, but when everything is this delicious and unique, it calls for a few open palmed cheek smackers. If not for covid protocols, I would have gone full Garfield and licked the leftover sauce off the plate. We had the French chicken and crab ravioli. Delicious food and nice people, one of Fremont's 'better restaurants', so go eat there while they are open! Nice patio if the weather is agreeable, or sit at heavy wood bar and let the cool gal mix you something special. Really good for dating as it's quite cozy and quiet. Let me start off by saying this restaurant is a must try, it is fairly new and it is kicking butt! I came here to catch up with some friends for the first time and I had no idea what I was walking into. This is a pirot themed Italian restaurant with superb 5 star quality customer service and cuisine. The staff was very welcoming and tentative throughout our stay. Upon our arrival our waiter served us bread and water, up until we were ready to order our drinks and food. We ordered a cheese ravioli, crab ravioli, and ahi tuna poki. I was lucky to be able to nibble off my friends ravioli's and I can say it was very delicious. My ahi tuna poki was served with wontons and was super fresh and delicious as well. After we closed out our bill our waiter came back and surprised us with a dessert, it was a baklava filled with apples, with chocolate drizzle. It was so unique and yummy. I wont forget their kind gesture, thank you Fedrico's! Last but not least, they have patio seating with a bar! The bar is still in the works but it should be open soon. It is such a cool area and I am excited to come back and sit outside! They also have Sunday brunch- how cool and not one dimensional at all. Solid three star restaurant for me. It would be less but I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Got two NyE menu specials as uploaded in my pictures since hubby and I were sitting out the New Year's festivities. We wanted to have a fancy-ish dinner and the menu for the price was a no brainer for me. Gnocchi was fair with a lot of cream sauce and barely any truffle flavors, the shrimp and bacon were overpowered by the mustard sauce, the squash were overcooked and like mush. The lamb was very good. Perfectly seared and the risotto was fine. The beef Wellington was drenched in the red wine reduction and mushrooms so the bottom of my Wellington was completely soggy (no bueno) but the steak was cooked well and seasoned well. I am going to highly recommend that if you order from here do their dine in and not their carry out. This type of food does not reheat well unless you are going to open and eat your meal immediately, i would not recommen delivery or pick up if you live far away or plan to eat this meal at a later hour. The other issue I had was that I asked for the earliest pick up time for the dinners and they replied via email that 3pm would work. So I booked that. And when I arrived at 3pm sharp, the kind man helping me said it would only be a few more minutes. A few minutes turned into 30 and that is not acceptable in my book. Please don't offer a certain set time if you cannot make that work. They should have started their pick up times at 3:30pm or 4pm. I did not appreciate having to wait around especially when I confirmed the time I would be arriving. They seemed very short staffed for the NyE and I hope their evening ends well. Will try to give them another try but just ok for me. I'm hoping dine in fresh will be a better adventure! read more

What a surprise! This is a hidden GEM in the Niles district of Fremont. Had dinner there last night for the first time after a friend told me about it. It's quaint, cute, small, friendly and the decor is whimsical which all creates an ambiance that's hard to find. The bar is beautiful and I would feel comfortable dining alone here at the bar or at a table. The food was delicious, plated beautifully and served piping hot. I ordered the French Chicken and OMG! The chicken was juicy, lightly battered, with a lemon caper sauce that was perfection! It was served with au gratin potatoes that were tender and not too heavily sauced with fresh vegetables cooked crisp tender. Wonderful! My friend ordered the Pork Chop with Apple that was also cooked to perfection and absolutely tender and delicious! We split a Napoleon for dessert. Puff pastry with chocolate mousse, fresh fruit and cream layers. WOW! The pomegranate popped in your mouth, fresh apple cut up tiny added crunch and the mousse and cream were not too sweet. Absolute heaven. They have an extensive wine list and he poured me a taste of 2 different bottles to let me choose which one I wanted and I was buying by the glass! These guys are doing it right! They are from Venezuela and speak with heavy accents (they are adorable!) so I told them I couldn't understand anything they were saying but I didn't care! LOL! They are always smiling, they know how to cook and how to make people feel comfortable and welcome. My new fave! We will be back often! read more

I came on a Sunday for the brunch. Great ambiance from a cozy spot in Niles. One of the best omelettes I've ever had - a crispy outer edge with the right amount of cheese. Gave this place 2 tries, the first time was an evening visit and we were starving. Sat at the bar, took about 10-15 minutes to get a menu and had to ask to order drinks (we had to ask...), the waiter kept telling us that he was going to come and take our order, an older gentleman that delivered our drinks assured us that the waiter was going to take our order...after 30 minutes of additional wait, plus food was splashed in my friend's jeans, we had to ask for the bill and left. Tried the brunch and it was just so similar, sat at a table this time, got menus after 5 minutes, ordered drinks that took another 15-20 minutes to get, finally ordered and food took about 20 minutes to receive - it was only a frittata and an omelette and they were both similar in taste, rather bland. The server never checked on us and we had to keep asking the busboy for condiments and water and so on... How has this place rate so high? read more

We had an interesting experience at Federicos. As other reviewers have mentioned, the average rating raised our expectations. Our dining experience here was so-so. We had made reservations and our table was waiting for us. There were eight of us plus a baby, and they do have a high chair. Our server greeted us and provided us with menus and water, but he seemed almost like he was filling in for someone. He was familiar with the menu, but when we ordered a bottle of wine he couldn't find it. I saw him looking around for it. Finally, the cook (and owner I think?) came out and found it for him. As he was the only server, when the restaurant became busier we saw less of him. As for the food, we ordered the crab cakes and ravioli for apps which were okay. There was good amount of crab and they were toasty on the outside. The ravioli were made for dipping and easily shareable. The complimentary bread was warm and nice. My hubby ordered the ribeye steak. He felt that the cut of beef was average. I ordered the Cartoccio, which is a medley of seafood in a tomato-based sauce with pasta. I enjoyed the different seafood, and for me this was the highlight of the meal. We didn't receive our entrees all at once (there were eight of us!), but I assume that it's because there is one cook? Had the absolute worst experience at this place. Had a reservation at 7 and came in at 6:50 and told to take a seat either inside or the patio. I sat in the patio and was not even asked if I wanted the menu or something to drink. The food was good, great staff but the unpleasant music was way too loud with bad speakers and we asked them several times to lower it but it was so hard to converse. The other table was extremely loud and people don't understand that this is a very small restaurant and being so loud is not acceptable. The waiter was very pleasant but he was screaming when he talked, not sure why so the entire first experience was a bit nauseating and it spoiled the whole experience. It was our 23rd wedding Anniversary date. Our first time dining at Federicos. We were the first dinner guests to arrive and had a reservation. Fast forward nearly one hour and no one had taken our orders. We had bread and eventually ordered drinks. Rico himself made my lemondrop. It was less than desirable, I traded it for a safe glass of wine. The friendly local regular diners next to us asked if anyone took our order yet? We noticed many tables had food yet our order still not taken. Meanwhile that kind table next to us felt so bad that they ordered us a bottle of wine and found the staff and asked them to get our order. I have great like and respect for Rico doing a one man show however it made for the worst dinner service we've ever had! Once we got our food it was delicious. Never asked if we wanted dessert but we were able to order EVENTUALLY Dessert was tiramisu and delicious! I especially enjoyed the local people dining with us. The very poor service became a topic of conversation and laughter amongst us. The local art on the old saloon like walls was lovely. I wanted to love this little place but we left disappointed on a special datenight. Rico please get some servers (had one individual who did not speak english) as his helper but I would not call her a waitress or server!The social experience was fun but will not be returning to dine. This place is a gem. It's really good for a date night especially if you don't wanna go too far away from Union city/Fremont. My boyfriend took me to Federico's for our anniversary dinner and it was really great. The food was pretty good and shocking for the Niles. I got the Crab Ravioli in a Lobster sauce and my boyfriend got the Chipotle Pork Chop (?). It was good. I can't really complain much about the food. We both really loved the wine that was served. We both got whites and wanted more than just one glass. He got the Riesling and I got the Sauvignon blanc. I only gave it a four stars because I wasn't completely blown away but for sure really love this place enough to come again. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at Federico's last night. Kiko offered us the menu but said that if we would prefer, we could go with plan "B". When we asked what plan "B" was he just said "you will have to trust me". That was good enough for us, we all went with plan"B". It started out with some wine signature raviolis, bread, and salad. We did not know what to expect next but were surprised with what must have been a six pound cut of prime rib cooked to perfection. Served with mashed potatoes mushroom gravy and a variety of vegetables. It was wonderful but we could only finish a fraction of it and are still enjoying it today:) That was topped off with a selection of deserts for the table to share.
