The service received since the moment you step foot through that door is honestly the most top notch experience you can get at a beauty salon. Fernanda and her whole team are so knowledgeable and professional with their work. The small details make such a difference from the shirt I got to change into, to the fresh chocolate covered strawberry, to the complimentary snacks and beverages, the reclining massage chair at the wash station, warm towels, blankets, customized chair for me!! But most importantly the quality of work. I walked out a whole new person and scheduled 5 future appointments! made an appointment online with one stylist for two specific services keratin and a hair cut very simple , I show up and the assistant is washing my hair not the person I booked with LOL the person I booked with is busy with other clients and asks me if i want to add on another service which I agreed to . the assistant does that service for me . sits me in the chair .... i wait another 20 minutes for my stylist to start the keratin shes at the desk on the cell phone looking at who knows what . She's in Lala land . She starts my keratin and asks another stylist to help .for 1 she didn't ask me if that was ok , 2 didn't mention the price of all the services and adding on another service knowing ive been coming for 6 years getting the same treatment with different people wether they were junior or "senior" stylist I was never charged 480 for a keratin I was told it's based off length it's based off what they decide they want to charge you if you look at the history of what I usually paid it's not 500 my hair is as short to my neck and when it was down to my lower back I paid nothing past 380 I was overcharged and mocked for being in shock I think they are sales woman not hair dressers they look down on you im A hard working person I would like to know what the f I'm paying before you charge me 600+ and now I have to tip out 3 people? !!!! I had really high hopes. This place looked great but I have to say this was an awful case of highway robbery. I made an appointment for a dry cut. They asked me to move it up and hour, which I was happy to do. In total I was in the chair for 20 minutes for a dry cut appointment and then she styled it. The hair dresser was on and off her phone the entire time. The hair dresser next to us was blowing a keratin treatment of some kind directly into us. My eyes were burning and stinging immediately. Then they charged me 95 dollars for that cut and time. Edit: Changed my original review to 4 stars. Fernanda truly cares about her customers and the experience they have in her salon. She reached out to me directly and was able to remedy the situation. I am excited to return to this salon and give it a second chance. read more

Wow, really, what fo you know where I went to have my hair done will eventually go up in price. Listen, lady, where I went and will continue going they have been in business way way longer than you. I was a teenager, and they were in business. That's about fourth years now. They are very high professional salon and do a tremendously great job without a doubt and are very popular. The prices, yes, from fourth years ago, have gone up but still a great decent price w for my service. My hair looks beautiful and always gets great compliments always. I would love to show it to your face, lady. There was a comment on another person that you almost charged over nine hundred dollars. It's totally ripping off people. I guess she isn't coming back to your salon.. In all honestly people heard of your salon and have mentioned your very expensive. Trust me, the word gets around and like myself wouldn't never pay your extremely very outrageous prices for what I need done, which is a very simple procedure. How much do you pay a bottle of color fifteen dollars but charging a client two hundred for a one process color. Really, you're very busy, don't think you may see one person here and there in your salon. And also the Monday I came to nobody in the salon so if you are closed and not servicing doing hair on Monday, why are you open for. Close like other salons, there isn't anybody in there to do your hair. But, where I went to, there were four people. Also they open early and stay open til late at night. Your salon is only opening 8 hrs. other great salons are open over 10 hours every day and they get lots of clients. I'm very sure and positive as I have always seen in this other salon people coming in for service all the time and are very busy with your information. I just want to say we all know that things go up in price, but you all are very extremely over pricing clients and ripping them off. Like myself remember one thing people will explore and see wow there very high there expensive and gauntee you clients will stay away. Any smart person would unless you want to throw your money away. You're not in Newbury Street here it's only Somerville lady. Personally I wouldn't never step foot in this place ever again. And the word does go around I wouldn't dear recommend a friend or family to your salon never. Clients you get are your friends or family without a doubt. And you probably give them a discount pretty sure. So, for your info the greatest salon I have gone to have been in business way over you have. They have been for 40 years or longer so don't tell me. I never actually had my hair done at this salon, thank god. But, when asked for the services I did need, which it was very simple, they were going to charge me an arm and a leg. These people are totally ridiculous in overcharging a customer. I have never seen something like this in my life. I would never recommend any of my friends or family here never. People are not made of money the way you guys charge. I guarantee you that you won't be open too long. And as I already see, mostly all the time, nobody is in salon. Keep it empty. I had the most incredible experience with Fernanda's Beauty Salon today. I walked in this morning with one picture and an idea of what I was looking for and walked out with hair that hugely exceeded my expectations. I had the pleasure of Fernanda being my stylist, but it was clear you cannot go wrong at this business. I enjoyed watching all the clients and their respective stylists around me achieve gorgeous results. Fernanda's work speaks for itself, however I was mostly impressed by her willingness to explain the process to me and ensure we were on the same page. It's clear she takes pride in her work and the salon- it shows! Fernanda made sure I got exactly what I wanted and walked out feeling incredible. Her knowledge on hair was so impressive to me because she knew exactly what products to use to achieve my sought after look while not leaving me with damaged/fried hair. If I had the chance to give more stars, I would give even more. Let me tell you the story of how I met this perfect salon. I love my hair very much and never dyed it until I was 25 years old. A week ago, I decided to dye my hair at a friend's salon. It was my first experience. I showed the hairstylist a photo of how I wanted my hair and she said she could do it, but the result was completely different from what I wanted and very ugly. I became depressed and even cried the first night. The next day, I went to the store, bought black dye, and decided to dye my hair black, but by chance, I came across Fernanda's Instagram and saw the hairstyles she did, which changed my mind. I decided to give myself one last chance and immediately messaged her. I received a very attentive response from Fernanda, and she convinced me that she could fix my hair, which really reassured me. I made an appointment for a week later and went to the salon today. I was very excited but also a little scared that the same thing might happen again. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely relaxed, and the feeling of fear was replaced by excitement. Everyone in the salon is very attentive and incredibly friendly and positive. By the way, Fernanda and the girl who is her assistant are extremely beautiful:). Throughout the three hours I was there, they constantly asked if I needed anything and offered me coffee, tea, and chocolate. You really feel like a princess there. Ive been wanting to write a review for the longest, but life has kept me busy. So couple of months ago I went to fernandas beauty salon hoping they can retouch my Ombre, my hair in the past was interfered with probably the worse products on the market because, I was literally carrying a broom on my head, it was dry, ends were open, bunch of freeze, I complete disaster. I have dark brown hair, but i have always loved the way blond looks on me, specially the fading effect like the ombre technique, and I always though I had to re touch (meaning bleaching again) to get that look I loved. So I explain to Yasmin Murta THE MOST FABULOUS HAIR STYLIST I have ever meet in my entire life (and I have been in more that 8-10 diffent salons) that I wanted to bleach again, she was super attentive and she said to me, I am going to try the bleach only in a little bit of your hair so we can see if if your hair accepts such and strong product on your weak hair, if not I am not gonna be able to work on your hair. so she went ahead and did it, and of course not a surprise, it didn't work, hair was falling with that little bit of bleach, so she said that bleaching is not an option for me, so I got sad a little bit, but she told me we can still do something to lift that little bit of blond I had on already, so I accepted her suggestion , and OMG ! the best decision I have her made, she not only helped find the right process but also recommend it me to do the olapex treatment so my hair can look silky and soft like if I had virgin hair. Yasmin did one single process and the olaplex treatment and I am not gonna lie she boosted my confidence from 0 to 10, probably the best experience I ever had in a salon. nothing but quality products, great service, super clean and organized place, I didn't get Fernanda (the owner) to work on m hair but I have seen pictures and they all look stunning as well !! if you are looking to re do you image and don't know what's best for your hair, please visit them, they are not only hair stylists, they doctors for your hair, they wouldn't compromise your hair just to get money out of your pockets like others here in Boston (not gonna mention names, but they are many) Yasmin! you are an angel. I started going to Fernanda's during the pandemic because they're a few blocks from my place. Saw Cris for a cut/color two times -- she's amazing! I had to schedule a last minute appointment a few months ago so I ended up seeing Yvonne instead -- also such a thoughtful and talented colorist and stylist. I wanted to make a really subtle adjustment to my color, and Yvonne did an amazing job. Both times she's cut my hair, she's been really careful to check in and make sure she's not taking off too much length. And my hair always looks amazing! The salon also offers drinks and snacks which is really nice, especially if you're there for a few hours. One note - most of the stylists here take before and after pictures, and sometimes they want to create video content. It's not something I'm super comfortable doing (I haaaate cameras), but I've always said yes because I like the stylists and want to help support their work. I'm sure if I said no, they'd be fine with that, too, but heads up for anyone (like me) who isn't used to that at other salons. Full disclosure: I did a major change to my hair this week and I'm still getting used to it. Is it my dream hair? No. Is it excellent and beyond what I could have reasonably hoped for in a single session? Yes. Yes. 1000x yes. But, to back up: I dropped in for a consult with Fernanda earlier this fall, letting her know ideally I wanted near-platinum blonde hair but I had years of super bleached hair on top and this reverse ombre thing on the bottom, meaning like 60% of my hair was dyed dark brown. Because my blonde hair was layered, I had two really disconnected hair shades going on. She recommended regular Olaplex treatments ($50 -- so worth it; the stuff you buy online is not real Olaplex!) and keratin shots for moisture. Before 'the Big Day,' I had 2 Olaplex and keratin shot treatments and two additional Olaplex sessions. I sat with multiple stylists for these, and all were extremely polite and knowledgeable. My favorite was Raissa, probably because she gave me flat iron waves that looked awesome. I also dig that they open at 7 am, so you can come in for a service before work! When I went in for a full highlight with Fernanda, her assistant started with a test strand on my dark brown hair, then showed me pictures with the options I could go for given how light she thought my hair could get in one appointment. She also recommended I try a new hair CPR treatment, which added $100 and one hour to the service, but came highly recommended for removing metals from dyed hair. She was so right about that. When it came time for the bleach application, she transparently explained their pricing. While I nearly died when I heard how much this appointment would be, I opted for the pricier option, given the quality of product...and I was sick of the hair I'd been trying to change for nearly two years. In the long run, it would save me money, future appointments, and, most importantly, I wouldn't end up with orange hair. The other thing that happened was, while I was booked for a 4 hour session (plus the extra hour for hair CPR, so 5 hours), Fernanda actually spent 7.5 with me. I see pics of hair transformations on Instagram all the time but feel like salons I've visited are either too lazy to put in the work I want or too afraid to ask me to pay what it would cost given how much time is required. So I really appreciated Fernanda's dedication. After my color and toner processed and another stylist was drying my hair, I saw her grab another color bowl and brush -- she was unhappy with my roots and wanted to fix them. She read my mind! Ok, last thing before I attach some pics (because I do kinda miss my brown hair and want the internet to tell me I'm crazy and look so much better now). The next day, I woke up still a little in shock at how blonde I was, and how warm the color was (which I'd agreed to when she showed me options, but realized I liked less than I thought I would). So I called the salon and asked if they could tone it again. They fit me in at 8 am, and by 10 I was walking out with additional lowlights and the assurance I wasn't a pain in the ass -- and the quick and dirty technique Fernanda used did the trick perfectly. She said "I would have done this for you last night!" and seemed to genuinely appreciate my feedback and honesty. I'm absolutely sticking with her and her team because they are super talented and lovely people. Oh, and they do an awesome job keeping up on social media and the salon itself is gorgeous. I'd say I'd hang out there forever, but after 9 hours in two days, I think I'll wait a little while before booking my next (free! they have a rewards program) Olaplex. This was my GO TO spot for quite a while up until this happened. I was hesitant to write this because I've noticed on all the bad reviews the salon will come back and try to make like it was the customer and not them. I consulted with the salon about how to go about getting both a Keratin & a balayage. If you're not familiar with these services they aren't cheap! Following their guidance I did the Keratin first which came out very nice and a few weeks later I came back for balayage. After showing a picture of what I wanted it was recommended BY FERNANDA that we go in a different direction to gain better results. Due to the original color of my hair she recommended a red color instead of brown. I say this to show I made concessions and went with their professional recommendations. I was sitting in the salon chair for almost SIX hours. At the end of the appt she styled my hair and took photos (photos below) - it looked AWFUL. But the type of person I am I kept it to myself up until I washed it. My hair was GUMMY and I couldn't get a brush through it and my keratin was gone. When I say "gone" I mean my hair was no longer silky, smooth, and straight. I called and made an appt to see Fernanda to hopefully get this fixed considering I spent $1000 including tip. As soon as I sat down I bursted into tears because my hair was incredibly healthy prior to this experience. I explain what happened and instead of offering to help she told me I had earned a free Olaplex treatment and we can use that. So I have to use my earned treatment to get this fixed? I asked her about the color and she told me she couldn't do anything about it (laughed) and said "do you think that's fair to color your hair again because you asked for the hint of red." .. it was copper not red and that's what was recommended. I then asked her about the keratin because my hair was no longer straight. Fernanda began to get frustrated again, laughed in my face (as I'm crying) and told me "I'm not sure what your not understanding but your Keratin is still in your hair but because YOU didn't choose the $800 bleach your hair got damaged." IM SORRY WHAT? I've followed step by step direction from you guys and because I don't chose the most expensive bleach you have it's my fault my hair is now damaged? Why do you offer such terrible bleach if that's the case? She was raising her voice telling ME she isn't trying to argue with me but I am just not understanding. Well PLEASE help me understand??? We did the Olaplex (MY EARNED OLAPLEX.) The girl (Holly) who originally did my hair came over to apologize - later to find out she was told by Fernanda to come say sorry so it wasn't even a real apology. They put some toner in my hair because they used a colored conditioner that made my hair spotty and at that point had no choice. Finally after I called Fernanda back over to watch her assistant "TRY" to brush through my hair .. it was impossible. They had two people brushing my hair at one time and it still took forever. She finally offered to refund my Keratin treatment. After all that arguing with a crying customer that could have been avoided if you just did the right thing from the jump and FIXED IT & refunded services that were done incorrectly. You made me feel like it was my fault that my hair looked like shit. A piece of advice is to OWN IT and stop laughing in your clients face trying to make it their fault. I've noticed in other reviews this seems to be a common occurrence. Will never step foot into that overpriced salon again. Fernanda thinks because she has some Tik-Tok clients in LA that she can treat her clients & employees as if they are below her. Im all set. After doing some research you can get the same services elsewhere for a lot less. Oh and your employees don't like you. They are telling your clients how you are behind the scenes. I've gone to other salons before where I had really unpleasant (sometimes straight up horrible) experiences, but Estela always comes through! I absolutely love Fernanda's Salon! I started going last year and can't see it any other way. My mother and I went for a haircut last month Mom had Yasmin and I had Raissa. Let's start with Yasmin! She was so nice to my mother. My mother wanted a new style, but was scared for change. Yasmin put her to ease and started trimming. She left my mother looking amazing! A new style that was exactly what my mother wanted. Next Raissa! She is amazing! She goes over everything before she does it. While washing my hair, she told me what products she was using and their benefits. My hair was on the longer side and I wanted to go short, but still a bit hesitant. Raissa would cut a bit a time to make sure that I was comfortable with the length. I was so happy with my hair in the end and excited for when I have to go back! The salon itself is beautiful! I wish there were 10 stars!!! Fernanda and her team are fantastic! I had an appointment somewhere else at 2pm and the hairdresser was a no show! I frantically googled top 10 hair salons near Medford, Ma and FBS came up. I called to see if someone could take me last minute and Fernanda said just come now, I will make it work. Mind you they close at 3:30 and I needed my roots and full highlights. She made it happen all right! My hair looks fantastic and transformed. The place is clean, the team is professional and they give you an awesome t-shirt that's yours to keep. Wow. So, buckle up for a long, detailed review (promise it's worth it). I have been coming to Fernanda's for about a year. I already wrote a google review with my other two emails but now enough time has passed I can do a detailed Yelp review. I came to Fernanda in August of 2023 with bleach damaged hair that was also the wrong color on half my head. I've been trying to grow out my hair to what it was during the pandemic, and playing around with what I wanted to do with color as well. Fernanda and her team are the best of the best. It's not just the skill (although I can also say without a doubt everyone at the salon are BEYOND knowledgeable). It's the fact that Fernanda takes the time each appointment to truly listen to my wants and concerns, and point me in the right direction. I have never had her upsell or try to push product ONCE (that I didn't need). In fact, she has recommended a different and more affordable service in lieu of the one I had come in for my first visit. And there is no sticker shock here- everyone will walk through the price of each service and work with you for the best price for your situation. Also- the results are there! My hair has grown from chest level to my mid back, and the broken pieces from the previous salon now are at my shoulders. Fernanda, and her assistant Sofia are literally the sweetest- I just came in for my birthday and it was the best treat! (Other stylists even came over to say happy birthday- like everyone is just so kind). The salon is clean, has great music, and I just feel at home each and every visit. Beyond the undeniable results, and top level skill, I think my favorite thing about the salon is the energy. I feel welcomed, and cared for by everyone. Sofia giving me a hug at the end of my last treatment was just so sweet- clients really are family here. On the technical side, Fernanda has answered every one of my hair concerns and provided solutions/recommendations (not just pushed random products like others have). Ugh, I could go on but let me summarize- if you are looking for knowledgable and kind stylists, stunning results, and the best vibes ever... I highly recommend this salon!! EDIT: I want to add one more thing- the services are not the cheapest ever but not only do the amenities, talent, and atmosphere make up for it, but Fernanda and her team are ALWAYS willing to discuss cost of service with you and create a plan/recommendation that works for your budget. On a beautiful somewhere near the end of the year I made an impulsive decision to do a blonde balayage and chose Fernanda's Beauty Salon as one that I can trust to give me this big change since I have never gone light in my entire life. To begin, the process of making an appointment was fairly easy! You can call or make on online, in my case I made it online during my lecture because it was super boring and I was excited to get my hair done. I requested Fernanda but unfortunately she was not available on the day and time that I wanted my appointment to be. They were extremely professional to have called and inform me. Also they assigned me with a new hair stylist which I am totally satisfied with. I am a picky person, but not so picky to the point where a tiny little detail will cause me to throw a fit like all the terrible comments Fernanda's have had on yelp. I came in asking for a blonde balayage with olaplex in bleach treatment. My hair stylist's name was Yasmin. She was more than just a stylist, she was also a hair consultant. Yasmin gave me a ton of options and I simply told her to do it as she like, just make me look pretty! Haha. She told me to trust her and I did. After a conversation of assuring me with my color and style decision, she started a color test run on my hair. I truly appreciate this idea because some salons when you arrive they just dump the color on and do whatever just to get it over with without consulting with you. After about 2 hours and a half which was acceptable and normal if people want to do a hair balayage, I was extremely happy with my result. I forgot to mention, throughout the process Yasmin was super friendly and fun to talk to. She did mention to me that she's not fluent english but that wasn't a big issue, I understood her just fine. She was also very careful towards my hair. The staffs there are amazing as well. Would totally recommend this place to a lot of people!!! And btw some reviews posted on yelp about how they don't know how to work on asian hair or whatever, I have asian hair and my hair worked out just fine LOL. I can't say how happy I am that I stumbled across Fernanda's Beauty Salon on yelp! I was looking for a colorist for about two weeks but had no luck (no availability with artists I liked or wasn't impressed by artists work). I was in a bit of a rush because I was planning a big trip. I called Fernanda's salon on Thursday night but they were already closed! My trip was on Friday so I was just about ready to give up on my Balayage dreams. BUT Fernanda's assistant called me on Friday morning to let me know they saw I called (I didn't even leave a VM!) and squeezed me into an appointment for that morning! It was my first time coloring my very curly hair and I was impressed that they had a diverse array of women with all types of hair on Instagram. When I arrived, they were very professional and offered me a drink and snack. I was seen right away. The salon is beautiful and has great sunlight. Every single person was very nice. Fernanda personally described every step of the process, answered all of my questions and went through the cost of everything. She also listened to what I wanted. I interacted with many of the stylists and all were wonderful. I was impressed that they were all getting ready to go to a conference in Florida to perfect their skills. I also learned a lot about how to take care of my hair. In the end I was shocked my the results! It was exactly what I had in mind. One week later, my hair still looks great and healthy. I think the Olaplex treatment was helpful for fighting frizz (didn't poof on my muggy trip to Houston). I will definitely be going back in about two months to tone and trim. One thing that was hard was the cost, I paid $540 for Balayage, Olaplex, straightening and a shampoo + conditioner. I came in looking for more of a blonde balayage, but settled with "honey" since it was recommended. After my hair was done, I had then realized the color was significantly darker than what I was expecting. The entire process took 3+ hours and I got too impatient towards the end to stick around and have them fix it, so I decided to leave. I ended up coming back quickly to fix my bangs, because it was a ridiculous color and did not match the rest of my hair. Pretty unsatisfied with their work, but I really wanted to like this place. Past 3 months, I been coming here a lot; more than I ever been to at the same hair salon, but it's worth it. Not that I needed to come in that often but I like to change my hair color, got balayage then full highlights. I've always been the type to go to salon that are convenient for my time (and for my budget, I would go to Master cut and Super cut because they open late but I wouldn't recommend them), but because Fernanda treats my genuinely kind and shows she actually cares, it keeps me coming back. I've been to plenty of different salons, they just don't have the kindness Fernanda gives. And I'm a really timid girl, but Fernanda knows how to talk to her clients. When I get there, I usually don't have to wait long before they grab me to my seat. I absolutely love the keratin treatment and the customer service given by the staff and especially Fernanda. Soooo I'm attaching 4 pics...I was the person who wrote the review you see in the first 2 pics.....Why I complained for $25 at the time? I have noooo idea - cheap ass! LOL! Fernanda's is amazing....TOP notch, never disappoints and always got my back when it comes to my hair. They'll give you EXACTLY what you want if you show them a picture and explain what you want in detail......This place is the only place that knows how to deal with my hair the right way. I have always only had my hair done by Fernanda (was really scared after having a freak hair cut a few years back by a whole other salon, so I vowed to only have it done my salon owners, whatever!...). Fernanda is a sweetheart and is amazing with scissors! Though, I've learned to trust all of the hair stylists at Fernanda's.Today, I got my hair done by Yasmin (2 other pics attached) - she did a PHENOMENAL job! Almost identical to Fernanda's cuts in my opinion. I usually only go in for a dry-cut (I shampoo/condition/air dry my hair and then go into the salon). Latinas love layers in their hair, so I let them know - and in 15-20 minutes, I'm out! $25 for the cut, $10 more for them to style it. A total of $35 (plus a tip! ) and I'm out the door!Today is the day before Thanksgiving, and I was able to be *squeezed* in at 7:15. I was late by 15 minutes and they STILL blessed my life and took me - but make sure you call if you're gunna be late. Don't be a jerk. You can check out their work on IG and Facebook. Words can't describe how amazing an experience I had at this salon. Fernanda is extremely knowledgeable and does a great job educating clients (and her staff) about the chemistry and mechanisms behind the processes and products she recommends/uses. I felt very pampered and waited on while I was there, and everyone I came into contact was so friendly and easy to talk to, and making conversation is one of the things I dread about salons. I love fernanda!!!! I got a balayage previously done by her and toner done the other day. The prices aren't bad and everyone is super friendly and helps each other out which I love. Fernanda is such a sweetheart and will always suggest something if you're not sure and show you a visual. Every time she's suggested something, I've gone with it and loved the results. During my balayage, she suggested I pick up some of the conditioner they sell. Most salons do this because they have to push products, but she was straight up like idc if you buy it here or amazon... it's amazing and everyone needs it. I picked it up when I was checking out and I almost have the full tub left (bought it like 3 months ago) and I love it so much. Thank you fernanda for doing what you do. Fernanda's was recommended to me by a friend and I was very happy with my results today!! My last haircut was a total bust and now I am so happy!! I had a great wash and cut with Christine and I didn't realize I needed to add on a blow dry to my appt and they were kind enough to squeeze it in before their next client!! The blowout was great (and done very quickly by both Fernanda and Christine) and my hair is very healthy and shiny! Couldn't be more pleased with the result!! My only reservation is that the blow dry is not included in the price for the haircut, which is totally fine, but it was an additional nearly $80 (receipt attached, I asked why there were two charges and it's because 2 people blow dried my hair at the same time). I totally understand adding a bit more $ for the blow dry after a cut, but had I realized it would be almost $80, I probably wouldn't have wanted it. Again this is the price for a blow dry listed on the website I just didn't know the price for the cut didn't include a blow dry! Just something to keep in mind when booking!
