Fernanda's was recommended to me by a friend and I was very happy with my results today!! My last haircut was a total bust and now I am so happy!! I had a great wash and cut with Christine and I didn't realize I needed to add on a blow dry to my appt and they were kind enough to squeeze it in before their next client!! The blowout was great (and done very quickly by both Fernanda and Christine) and my hair is very healthy and shiny! Couldn't be more pleased with the result!! My only reservation is that the blow dry is not included in the price for the haircut, which is totally fine, but it was an additional nearly $80 (receipt attached, I asked why there were two charges and it's because 2 people blow dried my hair at the same time). I totally understand adding a bit more $ for the blow dry after a cut, but had I realized it would be almost $80, I probably wouldn't have wanted it. Again this is the price for a blow dry listed on the website I just didn't know the price for the cut didn't include a blow dry! Just something to keep in mind when booking! I heard about Fernanda's by googling 'best hair salons boston' after having had bad/weird interactions with a salon in the past . The first time I went, was a month ago for a keratin treatment, then yesterday for olaplex and a blow dry. To this day I have yet to find a more welcoming, professional, experienced and fun salon in Boston! The other salons i had tried had snotty staff and weird settings, that made people uncomfortable like the MAC cosmetics counter. Fernanda's was the polar opposite!!!! Literally the SEPHORA of hair!!!! Coming from a hispanic country, Fernanda's felt so at home....I cant stress this enough! They make you feel so good from beginning to end! And their online schedule is amazing and convenient. Plus, they offer you coffee/tea/water and snacks!!!! I Felt like a VIP. So far Cris and Yasmin have done my hair and honestly, I would trust anyone in there to do my hair which is very unlike me and unlike any hair salon. Their prices are so good, very decently priced for the amazing work they do! The keratin was done in that very hot/humid week of August 2018 and it's held so well (my curly hair was so damaged before it) Plus the olaplex completely revived my hair. Fernanda's salon is absolutely amazing.. after following them on social media I decided to drive the hour and a half from Worcester to get my hair done by Yasmin.. let me tell you it was worth the drive and the money to finally have someone do my hair right! I can't even remember the last time I left the hair salon completely and utterly in love with my color and cut but I did when I left Fernanda's.. from the second I walked in the door I was made to feel so welcome. I recently went to Fernanda's to get my hair done and it was such a wonderful experience. I had a hair art appointment with her and despite being a long appointment she was constantly asking if I was okay, they kept offering me water. The whole experience was great. What I appreciated also was the fact that she literally explained EVERYTHING she was doing and why she was doing it. I remember when I first started going there I could make an appointment the week of and be fine. Super happy for Fernanda and the team :). I went with my normal toner and this time I got a haircut. I would never return. you Could see that the women had no idea how to cut hair, it would be the same for my grandma to cut. first she did not do what i ask her, then she told me that the appointment was for 45 and only use 20. Fernanda's is all over Social Media, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, you name it? They're there. With good reason, too. They work hair magic. After pawing through numerous pictures on their Instagram and seeing friends' balayage (Helen L.!), I decided it was time to pamper myself for a change. At the time, they were running a special for $150 for Balayage coloring, any color any length of hair. I called the day prior and they were able to fit me in the next morning, which I greatly appreciated. When I got there, I parked right outisde on Bow Street. Warning! There is a 2 hour parking limit with meters, however! The ladies of Fernandas are sweet enough to run out there to refill the meter for you to ensure that you wont get ticketed A huge plus! I was set up with Daniela, showed her pictures of what I wanted: natural caramel toned balayage, a hair cut, and styling and got just that. Daniela took the time to color and tone my hair just the way I wanted it. I think I lost count of how many times I got my hair washed throughout the 4-5 hour long process but it was all worth it. While you are getting your hair done, you get a before picture and photographs taken in their room, where they have backdrops and lighting set up for you. LOVED IT, Yasmin is a queen. The salon is nice and bright, with clean and welcoming design. There is parking behind the building, always a plus for Somerville. The safety precautions were good - strong HVAC, staggered appointments, everything wiped down and cleaned, everyone masked. I got both a haircut and color from Yasmin and she did an incredible job. She is both talented and very good at customer interaction. I felt very well taken care of the entire time, and she kept checking in with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. She also gave great advice on which extras would be super useful vs stuff I could come back to another time. I love a stylist that will be honest with me and not just try and upsell the entire time. To start off, I am insanely picky when it comes to getting my hair done. I have very thick hair and have found a lot of salons leave it cut unevenly or puffy. So I was a little hesitant to try out Fernanda's but decided to give it a try since I'm new to the area (and the salon I've usually gone to is a state away near by parents' house). I really liked my experience at Fernanda's. I booked online for 11 am. The online booking was simple and though, the cancellation fee warning scared me a bit, I had no issues with booking. I arrived at 10:45 but my stylist wasn't ready until 11:05 (which was not a big deal). I really appreciated how apologetic Nery was about the (minor) delay. She even offered me water while I waited. I just got a dry cut because I just wanted to trim the split ends. Nery put a lot of effort into making sure it was even and the right shape. She was very detail oriented with cutting and layering to make sure it looked good. She was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable as she cut. The whole appointment took 40 min. and I paid about $25 (which is what I had expected from all of the prices listed). I really liked my experience at Fernanda's and will probably make this my new go - to salon in the area. read more

Fernanda is my stylist but I sometimes have to see different stylists due to different things that come up. I've always had positive experiences and I have never left feeling unhappy with my hair. The reason for this review is I would like to share that one of the newest stylists there Alexis has been doing my hair and let me tell you this stylist is very young but she is absolutely amazing. Alexis has been doing my roots and I absolutely love it! Her head washing is probably the best I've had it's therapeutic and super relaxing. I went to Fernanda's for the first time on 3/15. I made an appointment online and when I got there the salon was super busy! It is also beautifully decorated. I had an idea of how I wanted to have my hair cut and Heidi helped me figure out exactly want I wanted. She sat down next to me with an iPad and pulled up different pictures. She asked so many questions and helped me make my hair feel like my own. She was very kind and understanding and I really appreciated her knowledge. Update: I wish I had seen Fernanda's update before I went in to get my look revised, maybe things would have been different. The stylist was a bit dishonest about being able to accomplish what I had initially asked for. Even though it was another stylist that scheduled me for a specific service, and what I actually wanted based on pictures turned out to be something a little different, they were the SAME price and I think what I was asking for with pictures should have been honored rather than what the other stylist had assumed I wanted. Either way I left with a look that matched what I wanted- YAY!!! Unfortunately, I was experiencing a lot of breakage following my color. I don't know if the Olaplex was used this time (I did order it for the initial service so I can only assume it was used this time too) but I think the breakage was because my hair was bleached twice in a week. My biggest advice would be if you're going to have such a tight window for revisions (1 week) then it should be allowed for the date to fix the problem to be weeks later to save the hair from any damage. I got my hair cut at a different salon to try to stop the breakage and changed the products I've been using to hopefully save my hair and bring it back to life. That being said, I've seen people have really positive experiences here, I can only be honest and objective about mine. Please keep in mind I have extremelyyyyy thick, high density type 4 hair that was pretty long, so your experience may be quite different from mine! read more
