I started working in this hood recently, and this is, apparently, the local Thai lunchtime haunt. There's Mae Phim Thai around the other side of the same, building, but I haven't been there yet. I've been to Ferry a handful of times and it hits the mark as a reasonably priced, efficient lunchtime Thai joint. The food is superior to some other contenders I've tried in other neighborhoods. (I'm thinking about the ID and whatever you'd call that area near the Five Point--is that still Belltown? It's sort of the cusp of Belltown and SLU, but nowadays even cusp areas seem to have their own brand names, like "Denny Triangle" or some shit. I digress.) Their scale of hot runs from one to four stars, and the first time out, I had a curry that I ordered at three stars that pleasantly surprised me with its spiciness. Often these places see their gringo crowds and keep the spiciness on the low side, it seems, but this was a pleasant level of heat. I normally order the top of the scale, but figured I'd calibrate my expectations on the first visit before I go there, which was a good move in this case since I think three stars was about right. Of course, I'll still order four next time I go, because, well, if you like spicy foods at all, you get it. Having said this, the rest of the times I've gone I've gotten noodle dishes and three stars hasn't struck me as being quite as spicy. I suspect it has something to do with the inherent nature of a curry vs. a noodle dish. Next time I go I'm totally getting curry again to test this hypothesis. The place is hopping at lunchtime, as you should expect--you've seen places like this before--but everything seems to keep moving pretty well. Service is efficient, but not unfriendly-efficient like some high-volume Thai lunchtime places are. You know what I mean: you've been to those places. Tables are of various sizes, and there's also a bar that runs along the west wall of the place, so you can dine solo without feeling that odd "I'm sitting alone at a table and everyone's looking at me I'M SUCH A LOSER!!11!!!" feeling. Additionally, and this is a small thing, but it makes a contribution: the place is actually fairly pleasant inside. It's clean and has high ceilings and nice lighting. In spite of the lunchtime din and the efficiency of the place, it feels a little nicer than it absolutely has to in order to still remain successful, and I, for one, appreciate this. One time we went in shortly before 3:00, after the lunch rush but before anyone was there for dinner, and were the only patrons outside of a slowly-growing group of folks who I assume are either related to or close family friends of the family that runs the place. At least three generations were sitting down for a family meal of some sort in their own restaurant. This has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. I just thought it was a nice thing to witness. Prices are right about in line with what you'd expect: I keep it simple and drink water with lunch, and get out for about $10-$11 including tip. They have lunch combo deals, but they all feature chicken or something, which doesn't appeal to my pescetarian nature, so I order off the regular menu, but I don't feel gypped or anything since the regular menu prices are right in line with the price of the lunch specials, which makes me wonder what's so darned special about them, but that's neither here nor there. I think they might include a soup or something, but nearly every time soup is included as part of a special at an Asian joint it's some kind of beef tendon ground-pork-bone concoction that I wouldn't have eaten anyway, so no biggie. If you've got a Thai hankering and are in the hood, Ferry Noodle House will do right by you in the ways you expect it should. I expect I'll be a fairly regular visitor. read more

I was rushing to catch the ferry and was starving. Yeah I know there's food on the ferry but I am not a fan of it. Anyways, Ferry Noodle House is conveniently located on the pedestrian walk way to Colman Dock. Although the service is pretty quick, I was pretty disappointed with their pad thai. It had a slight ketchup taste to it and for 3 stars, it was barely spicy. I probably won't come back here since the location is suited for ferry commuters. read more

I was hungry the other day when headed to the ferry. I swung in here around 8:40 - 20 minutes prior to their closing time. Thankfully they let me place a to go order even though everything was pretty much closed up - chairs on tables, etc. I grabbed the #11 which is their noodles with egg and peanut sauce and veggies. I got the tofu instead of meat. Their peanut sauce was pretty standard and their tofu was done well. There was a decent portion size, but I don't know if it was fully worth the price. Then again, I may be paying a bit for convenience there. My big disappointment was the level of spice. I asked for 3 stars, after he presumed 2, and I swear there wasn't any spice in it at all. Maybe I should have gone higher, but when I get noodles and peanut sauce there needs to be some spice or it's a bit bland....maybe next time I'll order higher and see how that goes. read more

There isn't too many Thai places around my workplace. My coworkers frequent this joint often, they've stopped inviting me because I'm a hater, lol. I think you can totally find better Thai food elsewhere. I never finish my food, I just find it very mediocre and I just can't handle how single-noted all the dishes are. I haven't been here in a long, long time. I'd rather wait it out and go to my regular joints after work because it's not worth it! My fiancé has had food poisoning twice from this place. Every time I try to offer him leftovers, he'll refuse it it it's from Ferry, haha. No joke! It is sooooooo crowded during lunch. I come here twice a month or so, I'm never disappointed but never really overly impressed either. This place is an adequate place for Americanized Thai food. The first thing you will probably notice about this place when you walk in (at least during lunch time) is how busy they are. To me this is a good sign but if you want something super quick for lunch you may be better off at other places. When I order to go food it usually takes 15-20 minutes during lunch rush. Ok now for the important stuff The Food - 3/5 It's good but very Americanized, it lacks the Thai authenticity that you can find at other Thai restaurants in the area . They also have the tendency to over cook their rice. The Service - 4/5 It's quite good, the wait staff is efficient and friendly enough. Price - Average It's about what I would expect to pay at such a place *Possible weirdness* Last time I was there I saw someone bus a table... she took a half empty glass of water and dump it into the pitcher of ice water. I'm hoping the lady was going to pour out that pitcher and not re-use the water but I can't be sure Over all - It's a pretty solid place to go for a lunch but it's nothing amazing. read more

This is where I go for Thai when I'm downtown. It's nothing phenomenal, but it provides some passable versions of the basics that can give me the Thai fix I need for lunch. Some notes on individual dishes: - Tom Kha Gai- Too many mushrooms and onions. This dish should just be a very simple soup without quite so much random stuff in it. - Green Curry- A bit bland, a bit heavy on the zucchini or eggplant, but not bad. - Panang Curry- Pretty good flavor, but a bit too creamy, sweet, and soupy for my tastes - Larb Gai- A bit bland (as is common with this dish). Service has always been pleasant, but a bit slow for lunch. read more

Thai food is abundant in Seattle, so it's no surprise that it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. I like Thai 65 for a number of reasons which, taken together, tell me that they really know what they're doing. To begin with, whenever I've eaten here the food has always been of good quality, very fresh, and their star-system for rating spiciness is respectable. Portions are ample and satisfying without being wasteful. The venue is very clean and well maintained. It's a big, airy space with solid, dark wooden tables as well as a dining counter near the door (which is where I prefer to take my lunch when eating alone). I'm not usually a big fan of orange as a wall color, however I have to admit that, somehow, in this case it totally works. Their interior decorator earned his keep. Given the quality of food and the well-maintained downtown location, I'm impressed with their lunchtime prices. I would expect to pay significantly more for food this good in a location as expensive as this. Finally, the service here merits special mention. It has consistently been significantly more friendly than most places. These people always seem to be in a good mood, and they seem to take delight in providing "service with a smile." The place is not without its quirks. It is not a vegetarian restaurant, but they do not serve beef, and as a result certain Thai stand-by's just won't be available here (such as my beloved beef salad, yum neau, or the dish commonly known as "Waterfall," which is a variation on that theme). They serve other meats and seafood, but no beef. All things considered, however, that's a mere inconvenience to me given the rest of the package. It's easy to give this place four stars. read more

This may offend...so please beware. I love this place..and I love it for the damn penang sauce that they serve. Their pad thai ain't bad...and I have had a few other things that are good. But I keep coming back for the creamy penang put any kind of meat in it dish they serve. There star system is pretty accurate when it comes to spiciness and I like that, cause when I order a 3..I want a 3. Not a 2...for me a 3 is a cryer..for the bf...just a bit of a sweat. This place is a bit more expensive than it's competitor a block away...but most times you get what you pay for. Now here is the offensive part. If you are looking for authentic Thai food...my guess is this is not for you. But if you are looking for some pretty...I am a white person who likes to pretend I eat authentic ethnic food...than this is good! It seems like these places thicken the sauces for us and add extra meat! I read somewhere that real authentic Thai has small amounts of meat and sauce and large portions of rice. I say bring on the sauce for this non authentic thai food lovin whitey! No one please be offended...I am making fun of me....mostly :) Oh and this place was the old Cilantro that got shut down...but they made major revisions! I came here for a late lunch with some coworkers this past Friday. I was majorly impressed with Ferry Noodle House, especially given the less-than-stellar star rating. We didn't have any trouble getting in, though it was nearly 1:00 by the time we arrived. Our server was friendly and prompt. Their menu has a ton of options, and everything is reasonably priced. My coworkers both ordered the lunch combo (curry and pad thai), while I opted for the pad see ew. The food came out in what felt like lightening speed. My coworkers' dishes looked wonderful, and the pad see ew was absolutely fantastic. The noodles and broccoli were cooked perfectly, the chicken tender and juicy, and the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness. The portion was very generous to boot. I highly recommend Ferry Noodle House! You may want to call ahead if you stop in for the lunch hour (I heard it can get crowded), but I think it's a great lunch option! read more

Was attracted to Thai 65 by the ambiance. Nice decor, and the place was filled up with business clientelle during the weekday noon hour. I was hoping for a lunch special, but none was present. Nonetheless, I went with my staple Thai dish, the Red Curry with Pad Thai on the side. The curry left something to be desired; it lacked enough ginger, and the coconut milk tasted like lite coconut milk, which is nothing like the true all fatty coconut milk. The service was good. Sitting here waiting for my food. It's 11:30 and I got here at 11:05. I order the same thing every single time so I already knew what I wanted but we literally had to ask them to take our orders. Before they took our orders, another table asked for recommendations and the server told them she didn't have time for that and walked away. Now I'm sitting next to my boyfriend who's eating his entree and almost finished. My friend and I still don't have our food. Last time I'm coming here. Sat 10/15/11 6pm: Ferry Noodle House/Seattle WA: This place has been consistent either for lunch or dinner. We've dined here many times and decided to rate it this time. Sort of comfort food for us when we need good value meals and don't want to explore downtown options. We love their brown rice, the stir fried dishes have good portion of veggie (1/2 meat, 1/2 veggie I would say, other restaurant gives you a few beans or broccoli) , not enough veggie? Get side order of steam veggie for $3, what a deal. The menu item has large portion for the price. The chicken was tender and flavorful, not dried like many other Thai's chicken breast strips. The place is roomy with warm décor. We're the first ones in today, though they're on the main foot traffic from the parking below H99, two tables occupied when we left, hm.. for a Saturday night, hope they'll survive. Previous meals, my taste buds gave them 4 stars, as I recall. This time it's a bit off, the dishes didn't keep as hot, the oil started forming before we finished the meal, perhaps the room needs to be warmer though we didn't feel cold. We felt a little affected by MSG, this stuff makes me sleepy. I don't recall the menu states "NO MSG" or not, but we felt it afterward - 3.5 stars, hope next time my taste buds would find that 4stars again. FYI: 5stars from us is very very rare; the one in France got 5stars, where we dined in a mansion/castle by ourselves with the whole kitchen staff waited on us, and for a measly $80 each. It was rated by Michelin 3-4 stars and these guys rarely rarely dish out 5stars. Well, it was off peak season, in the wine country, and we were the first of the day. I was looking for a new lunchspot to get Thai food and decided to try this place on Dec. 16, 2014. Online ordering was a snap, and the food was ready by the time I arrived 15 minutes later. Checked out the happy hour menu while paying, but it didn't list any entrees -- just drinks and appetizers. Onwards to the food! I got the Cashew Chicken combo, and a small Tom Yum soup. Portion-wise, the combo was pretty disappointing; it was 40% rice, 40% pad thai and 20% cashew chicken -- totally not worth it. I'd recommend getting the entree on its own and adding on any sides (or not, since the pad thai was rather bland.) The Tom Yum soup sealed the deal for me on whether to return, though. Whomever made the soup left in the three tough ingredients that are supposed to be removed before serving: chunks of lemongrass, galanga and keffir (lime) leaves. They were left in on purpose, too, because they were sliced small. I had to spit the tough food out while eating, which is pretty tacky when you're eating in the office lunchroom. The mushrooms in the soup were also too elderly to be serving at a restaurant. The sit-down portion of the restaurant was pretty packed, so they must have some good dishes -- however, I doubt I'll be back. They know not what they cook. read more

This place is such a find! I came here for my birthday with 9 friends and we completely enjoyed ourselves. The service was top notch, the waitress was very attentive and kind and the food was excellent, although if you like salt, you'll need to add it separately :) All in all it was a great place and very economical for the quality of food and service! TLDR: Both my wife and I got sick soon after eating here. I hate to leave a bad review, but hopefully management will pick up on quality control. My wife's evening ferry was delayed by an hour, so I decided to walk around downtown, then pick up some food for us close to the time she was to arrive. She loves Thai food, especially Pad Kee Mau, and Thai Curry Simple is our favorite go to spot. I checked on yelp, and although the star ratings are average, most reviews weren't too bad, so I decided to try them out. I ordered a Kee Mau for her, and saw they had an afternoon special $5 for a chicken fried rice to go so ordered that. The food was done promptly and I met my wife at the terminal and we ate there. We shared our food, and while the Kee Mau noodles were decent, the fried rice tasted a little off. What I believe is that the Pad Kee Mau is fresh, but the to go special chicken fried rice is made of left overs. By the time we drove home we both had serious stomach pains and had basically felt like food poisoning. If management is reading this, its not worth it to sacrifice quality to squeeze more profit. The food is still really really good here, but man, since this place has gotten popular, the service has suffered tremendously during the weekday lunch rush hour. After waiting a good 45 min for our food and watching the servers not knowing what dishes belonged to each customer, i tried getting the bill, which took another 15 min to run our cards. The combo is a good deal. For 8.95 you can get one of the eight choices of either curry or chef's specialty with rice and pad thai. The portion is sufficient for two meals if you are not a big eater. The service is great and the space is nice. My only complaint is with the rice. They must have scrapped some from the bottom of the pot because part of tasted awful. Some part of my rice were fine but part of was hard. To mess up on rice at a Asian restaurant is pretty bad. read more

Very bad customer service experience with SEMA. I was ordering a carry out and SEMA was very rude and disrespectful. She was yelling at me and almost tried to attack me when i asked for the manager. I got out and tried to call the restaurant and asked for the manager, SEMA picked up the phone and again used some cus words in her language. It felt like she was above the manager and i just want to let the owner know that you have lost one of your customer who has been giving business for you for last 10 years. Hope you take appropriate action. This is not place for people who care to be respected and expect some basic customer service. They have also been cutting down portion sizes in carry outs lately. The pad thai here tastes sweet like ketchup, which is not my idea of quality pad thai. There seems to be a plethora of ketchupy pad thai in Seattle, which is very disappointing. Also, I love spicy food. I normally order the highest spice rating they have. So naturally I ordered 4 stars here. No matter how hard I tried, I could not taste even a hint of heat. The restaurant itself was not spectacular but it wasn't terrible either. I love this place! Since I work just up the block, I come here at least once a week for the Pad Kee Mao. It comes out fast, fresh, and delicious. The staff is always prompt and service is always friendly. Last night was the first time I ordered anything beyond pad kee mao. I decided to get takeout for dinner and had larb gai and pineapple curry. Everything was delicious and luckily still hot by the time we got home. Sometimes I work at the UW so I've had plenty of chances to try various Thai restaurants located on the Ave. Thai 65 is one of the best! The food is delicious, the helpings are huge, and the prices are excellent! It's almost impossible to find a good parking spot here. The service could be better, and sometimes it gets a bit crowed but the quality, quantity, and price of the dishes far over weigh the downsides. Ugh never leaving my phone at home(hotel) again. I walked right passed this place not realizing it was right next to Bibimbap where I just had lunch a few weeks ago. The map on Yelp is wrong. Anyhow.. I came around noon and there were only a couple of tables filled. I ordered the drunken noodles (spicy level - hot). The food came out fairly quickly and the employees were nice enough. They seemed a little preoccupied.. Maybe just preparing for the lunch rush? For just over $8 I got a good amount of food. The noodles were cooked well. The chicken and veggie ratio were on point. I even enjoyed the carrots! I just wished their "hot" spicy was actually spicy! It tasted more like a "mild" spicy. This was the second spiciest level from the top so I will just order the spiciest next time. Luckily, I'll be back in Seattle in a couple days and yes... Have tried eating twice in the last year, once during lunch time and once in the afternoon. Both times I ended up leaving without even trying the food. First time we were told to wait for a table. Okay no big deal...stood to the side while we waited and they absolutely forgot about us, immediately giving walk-ins tables that were being bussed. When we asked, they told us to wait another 10 minutes. After a total of ~20 minutes there and seeing two parties of the same number seated before us we left. Second time my coworkers and I asked for a table of 4...waited 5 minutes to be seated. We were given menus and waters promptly (thought finally get to try this place!) NOPE! No one and I mean NO ONE ever acknowledged us after that. Twice we told a short female serve we wanted to order, once she said she'd be with us. Next time she looked at us and ignored us. A server with dyed hair we tried to get the attention of looked at us continually raising our hand and proceeded to do nothing. Left again and went to Quiznos. Food may be good - who knows! I never got that far because their service is beyond non-existent. read more

This place is crazy busy around lunch and I was here thinking that it was going to be semi easy to get something to eat for lunch. They were really friendly and it's not their they are just really good. The staff was hopping and friendly and the people kept coming. It was about a 15 min wait and I waited patiently for my Chicken Pad See Eww. For $10 it's a great meal. I had been here before and the broccoli and carrots in it are crisp and hot while the heat of a 2 stars is almost perfect for me. I wish there was a 2 and a half. 3 stars was too much the last time. The patrons in the place show to a first timer just how great they are. I'm happy I found the place and can run in to get my faves any time. read more

Very satisfied with Thai 65. I came in during lunch on a Thursday and ordered one of their combination plates for $8.95. WIth this you get white rice, vegetarian pad thai, and your choice of about 12 entrees. I went with the red chicken curry and it was very good. I got a 3/4 for spiciness and it was pretty mild. Next time I'll get the 4. Overall the food was very delicious, prices were very fair, and the inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. Attentive servers, fast service, there was really nothing that I wasn't satisified with. I will be definitely coming back in the future. read more
