What a hidden gem! I ate there today with my boyfriend on Valentines day with no reservation. We got there early in the evening though- it's a tiny spot and seems like you would normally need one. We were really skeptical walking in because the prices are ridiculous- I'm talking dirt cheap! But once we sat down and glanced at other diners' food and saw that they were pleased we were relieved. We were not super hungry so we split the pasta special that had pink sauce and chicken and an arugula and bresaola salad. Both were so delicious and the ingredients seemed high quality. My boyfriend was originally the less hungry one but he could not stop eating the pasta! Oh and I got a half carafe of wine for $13!!! It was huge. Seemed to be about the equivalent of 3/4 a bottle of wine. We were stuffed but saw the yelp check-in deal and got a coffee panna cotta which was also amazing. I usually don't love coffee-flavored things but this was an exception. Also, the decor was really cute, service was friendly, and the bathroom was very clean. I love coming to Fiat because I work nearby. My favorite thing on the menu hands down is the burrata. I can honestly say that the quality is much better than a lot of places. The service is always courteous and prompt. No complains here whatsoever. read more

I was very impressed that the morning after I wrote my 2 star review I was not only contacted by the owner personally but offered a second chance to try their lunch complimentary. Even the best of places make mistakes, and the even better ones try to correct them! This time around my omelet was delicious! Additionally I enjoyed their ice coffee which was just the right strength and packaged safely for delivery! My only linger critique is just that cold and hot foods need to be packaged separately, so that things like salads don't get wilted - but will definitely be popping in again! read more

we planed to go to the pizza place at the corner, but there were such a long line there. then we found this little place. I had a spaghetti, the first one on specials. it tasted like 4.5 stars. a little bit oily at the end though. I think the only problem was the waitress. I'm leaving Fiat cafe as I write this, stuffed. It's a small, cheap, no-frills, cash only spot that serves Italian comfort food. I think there's one server for about 10 tables and he did a good job attending to everyone. I got the lasagna and it was delicious. Some of the other pasta dishes weren't as good, but I'd return if I were in the neighborhood and wanted a meal I knew would be cheap and tasty. I ordered take out, so I can't say much about the interior or service, except that the cafe is pretty small and seems quite cramped. As for the food, the pappardelle was incredible but the portion size was a bit too small. The spaghetti carbonara, which contained very small pieces of bacon (amongst other things) and a lot of spaghetti, was not as good as the pappardelle, but was still pretty delicious. Not a good place for brunch. The pancakes were bland, the fruit on top did not go together or with the pancake (pineapple? cantaloupe? who came up with that?) and the syrup was artificial pancake syrup instead of proper maple. Coffee was pretty bad as well. read more

This place is more of a 3.5. We came here for brunch on a Saturday. The place is really tiny, so it was pretty cramped...put aside any need for personal space as you're dining on top of each other (clearly not literally, but you're sitting one foot away from the stranger next to you). The tables are way too small what with the waters, coffees, egg dishes, sugar, milk, bread, etc. It was a constant game of juggling and placing items on the window sill for fear of tipping everything over. Oh well...that wasn't a dealbreaker. Bread and jam came in these dingy little baskets that seemed kind of dirty. Otherwise the food was pretty good. I ordered the eggs benedict and the bf ordered a ham and swiss omelet. Both came with a mesclun salad already dressed in a vinaigrette. The prices are very reasonable, and the waitstaff is super nice and attentive. Will be back. read more

A super local feel and take on a Italian cafe. The prices are super balanced, but only take cash only. The food is great, and I mean that in such a way that my five stars are for the food itself. The decor is very simple, but can be very packed there at night. It is one of my favourite spots to eat and would regularly go these with friends. Highly recommended! read more

Music not present at the time- which I don't need on a Sunday morning after a previous night of having partied. This place is so good! its small, but good for a quick lunch with one or two people. When I was there, there was a table of a few moms and a bunch of kids. Found this through my Yelp iPhone app (which is probably my most useful). This is a great place for a bite to eat! It is cute, but not in the least fancy (paper napkins say it all, and a very limited wine and beer selection), but the quality of the food for the price is excellent. I had the baby clams in white wine with linguine for $9.95 (not a misprint!) and it was just great, as was my daughter's ricotta stuffed ravioli in brown butter sauce (pasta was chewy in a very good way and seemed homemade). Squid salad and tiramisu were equally appealing and nothing was less than very good. Entrees are on the small side (not a complaint, just a caution to order robustly), though appetizers, salads and desserts were at least average size. Our not terribly hungry family of 5 got out for $62 with 3 (small) glasses of wine and a beer -- a stellar value. It was a Saturday night and service was a tad slow and scattered, though friendly -- and I felt lucky we were able to walk in with a party of 5 and be seated immediately, given the small scale of the operation. Cash only - but don't let that steer you away from great, delicious, cheap food! Chicken with avocado panini and the roasted veggie with goat cheese panini are faves. The linguini with clams, pancetta, and garlic is a delicious pasta dish. This is a good place for a cheap meal in SoHo, so I keep coming back when I'm in the mood for Italian.
