Fiselle is a treat, hidden away in Winters. Go look for it! The four of us rode our bikes from Davis yesterday, and stayed in a B & B in town. We decided to check out Fiselle after reading all of the excellent reviews. It didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is casual, unpretentious, and fun, and the food was all very high quality --from a creative, constantly changing menu. A few standouts: canneloni with crab, shrimp, and a lemon-leek sauce; the terrine-like eggplant stack, and the spicy stuffed green pepper. Food came out FAST, and the prices were very reasonable. It all went nicely with a bottle of Argentina white wine. You can't roll up just any night though --they're only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. But it's worth it. read more

Who know Winters had a place like this, not me. We were driving through on our way from Sacramento to Lake Berryessa, and got hungury so looked on yelp. The reviews were dead on. Awesome tapas! When walking over to eat at Ficelle, there was a line waiting to get into the little place. You know when people are waiting just to eat somewhere, it has to be good! My friend and me sat at the little bar inside. First thing to oder is the sangria. It was one of the best I've ever had. First small plate was the teryaki skewers. These was awesome. Soo much flavor packed into the grilled beef. Next up was the frenchy. This was on the specials list. Not always avaliable, but when it is, make sure you try it out! French bread topped with beef, cheese, artichoke hearts and tomatoes. It was perfectly paired crunch goodness. read more

We were coming from a track day in Willows Ca (Thunderhill) and took a chance in Winters. I have eaten at the other good restaurants in town and I noticed this local. Wow! The tapas (small plates not necessarily Spanish plates) were creative and tasty. Sadly they are only open Th-Sat. I would cross the bridge for an evening out and start with the Sangria. Undiscovered gem. Food is incredible, great flavor & comes out quick. Tapas style so be prepared to share. We were astonished by our bill considering how much we ate and drank! Sangria is delish. Good selection of wine and beers. Staff is super friendly & helpful. We were in and out on a Friday night ... So delicious. Heading to Willows and found this little gem on the way in Winters. The restaurant opened at 5:30 and was packed immediately and even had all tables outside (on December 30th) filled. Had several small plates and all were delicious. Especially liked the Chile Relleno and the shrimp, oh, and the empenada. Sangria was good too. read more

My favorite restaurant in Yolo County! I love this spot so much. It's best to go at sunset when it's warm out, but we go year round. I love the garlic aoli that comes with bread. Favorite dishes are chile relleno, cannelloni del mar, crostini con queso....you really can't go wrong though. Also the sangria is great. The patio is adorable, cute date spot or place for dinner with friends. The owner is really nice. I just wish this place was open more! This is generally where we go when friends from out of town visit. So charming, we have never had a bad experience and we have probably gone about 15 times. read more

I eat take out 90% of the time, and this is about the only restaurant I regularly dine in at. They have this great policy where if you buy two sangrias they wave the corkage. Their Sangria is great and I would probably get it anyways regardless of the corkage. Anyways, you can completely stuff yourself here on food and drink and walkway paying less than $20 a person before tip. And you'll get a to try a lot more tasty dishes than you do at restaurants that serve just entrees with a protein, starch, and veggie. Yum. read more

Great place for a date or a gathering, wonderful variety of plates to choose from. Not much seating inside but the outdoor seating is wonderful. Their sangria is really good so don't bother buying a glass if you have a group, definitely get the pitcher. Their tapas style food offerings are great for those people who can never really decide what to get, now you can get one of everything! You go up to order and pay at the counter, which can be nice for a large group as opposed to trying to split the bill between 6-10 people. I thought the spicy shrimp and the chile relleno were really good. They also provide bread for the table and some garlic butter to go with it. Beware this garlic butter is kickin, I love garlic but this was a little overkill on purely raw garlic flavor. Overall decent prices for good food and a great atmosphere. read more

Great atmosphere (outside patio rocks) and friendly service, but food is just okay. Honestly, the best part was the garlic spread that came with the bread. The lamb tasted like a fatty chunk out of a schwarma, and the flavor of the eggplant was drowned by the overpowering grease. The shrimp was good, but nothing special. We ordered exclusively vegetarian fare and were impressed by the selection. This place was a gem! Sangria was just right, food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here before seeing a concert at the always wonderful Palms Playhouse in Winters. This was my introduction to tapas, and may be my most memorable meal experience of the past couple years for me. The food was incredible. So was the Sangria. Despite the heat of the hot summer afternoon/evening, the vibe and energy of the owners, servers, and guests was very warm and fun. I love escaping here at the end of the week ;) the prices are moderate, but pretty reasonable. definitely expect to share dishes if you go with friends. A good friend of mine lives in Winters, so one day we made a trek out to visit her. She tried her best to prove to us that the visit was worth the drive, and in doing so, she took us to Ficelle. I LOVED it! The moment we walked in, the restaurant owner greeted my friend as though she was family (she's not) and quickly brought us a pitcher of some of the best sangria I've ever had. I don't get it. Honestly. I am a huge Yelp fan and often consult it for all of my food needs and this one just totally missed the mark. Perhaps my expectations were too high, given that I had noticed the 5 star rating prior to dining here. i live in Dixon, and making the drive over to Winters is not entirely convenient, but if i am going to do it I would MUCH prefer going to the Buckhorn or Preserve. Don't get me wrong folks, I love tapas, I love good food, and honestly, I really thought I would be right there along all those other 5 star reviews, but alas, I am not. Here are my thoughts on the food: Complimentary bread and dip: The bread is pretty standard, but it's the dip that "stands out." So many people raved about this. The first bite I took, I asked my husband, "is this mayonnaise?" It turns out, it is. It is a mayonnaise extract with garlic and some other common powders. I don't understand this one at all. Who serves mayo on bread? This really put me off, especially not being a big mayo fan. I understand some dips have mayo (artichoke dips, etc) but they are blended with other ingredients, not just STRAIGHT mayo. Gross. Chile Relleno: I liked this dish in concept, it looked pretty and should have tasted as good as it looked. It didn't. Some of the flavors were there, however, I got that taste of mayonnaise again. Pretty sure the filling has mayo in it, which is just bizarre. Beef Skewers: These were tasty. We almost ordered another round of these, but at $8 a pop, we didn't think it was worth the extra money. Mushroom Ravioli: These just didn't do it for me. You get three or four small raviolis, which is fine, but the sauce was really nothing special. Could have been out of a jar for all I could tell. Brie: Very good, no complaints. Sangria: Awesome. Chocolate Mousse: FABULOUS! However, I do not give Ficelle credit for this victory. As i was eating it, I was reminded of the same chocolate mousse served by Leslie over at the Firehouse Bistro in Dixon. Come to find out, Leslie actually makes this dessert for Ficelle. If you are a fan of this one, do yourself a favor and check out Friday night tapas at the Firehouse Bistro in Dixon. It truly blows Ficelle out of the water. So, overall, it was okay. But to me, that food was NOT what 5 star yelp reviews should be about. Most of those items I felt I could make at home. There was nothing that stood out (except the mousse - which is not original to Ficelle- and the sangria). Given the 30 minute drive, it is unlikely that I will pick this eatery over some of the better dining options in town. read more

Fun tapas place with varied menu, prices, & drinks. One of our favorite restaurants in Winters & usually where we go before show at the Palms -- everything is good & authentically Spanish. Partial to the chile relleno, empanadas, shrimp, and ravioli dishes. Lamb is also excellent-- any daily special is sure to be a winner. We take many out-of-towners here & it's always a big hit. First time at a tapas bar so my review may be slighted. Arrived at 7pm on Sat and not crowded at all. We were able to sit down immediately. Being new to this style of eating we waited around for someone to take our order. We had to ask the waitress how to order. Basically you get in line and open a tab for your snack sized plates. They don't take your card. Once you get your first plate they will pick up your used dishes and ask for any additional orders. I absolutely loved the idea that I was in complete control of tiny portions of a variety of food. Sort of an upscale buffet but you rack up the bill per plate. Ordered the Sangria, wild mushroom ravioli, cannelloni del mar, and beef teriyaki skewers. The were all good, with the cannelloni del mar as the best. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars was because the food wasn't epic...but it was still really good. Great staff and good crowd. I'll bring my kids here for them to munch on the sliders and cheese/fruit plate. We'll be back!!! read more

The only thing I didn't like was that it was really small, but I will completely forget about that because the food and customer service was amazing. The food was of good quality and seemed to be made with fresh ingredients. I loved the bread with the garlic aioli! The sangria was great and the food had wonderful flavors. We love Ficelle. We always try something new each time we go and the sangria is awesome. One problem we did have this last time was with the customer service. It was a Thursday night but they weren't as busy as I'd seen them before. It was the first time my parents were trying the restaurant and we did our best to walk them through the ordering process. We stood at the register right after we got there for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. Once the young lady behind the counter decided she was going to help us, we were met with an extremely poor attitude. I've worked in food service before, I know it can be frustrating when customers don't exactly know how to order etc., but I was always taught that you NEVER act like the customer is inconveniencing you in any way. First impressions are important. The younger gentleman that was running food and clearing tables almost made up for the previous experience. He was very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we were having a good time. Like I said, the food was good as always. read more

It's been a few years since we've been here. It truly is a hidden gem. The ambiance is lovely on an early fall evening with the little downtown buzzing all around. There is seating inside, but we love the patio under the big oak tree. It's a very relaxed place - help yourself to water and utensils - but the food is divine. We had a couple of favorites from last time: teriyaki skewers and the shrimp with pepper flakes. They were amazing. Tonight we added the green salad, the poblano stuffed with a heavenly mixture of rice and cheese in mole sauce, and eggplant with red peppers. Each dish is complex in flavors and beautiful in presentation. My husband loved the sangria and the chocolate cupcake (yes, at the same time LOL). We will remember to get over here more often. We have eaten here 6 or 7 times and each time was great. One thing I haven't read yet on the reviews is about the customer service. No matter how good the food is I won't go back if the customer service is bad. The customer service here is Outstanding! The 2 sisters who own,operate and pretty much do everything are always upbeat, friendly, and unpretentious. This is definitely the place to go to when you're in the mood to "dine" with friends or entertain out-of-towners. Order assorted plates of tapas to share with each other and get a pitcher of home made sangria. If you love garlic, the garlic aioli with sourdough baguette appetizer will knock your socks off. It's a casual place with a comfortable environment with both indoor and outdoor seating. Just be sure to call ahead to make sure they are open as their hours randomly change. We kinda stumbled on this place on a Friday night. All the seating inside and out was full so we had to share a table with another group. Not really a problem except we wanted to talk 2016 presidential politics and I didn't want to offend anyone in a bar. Ficelle does not offer traditional tapas. I had the shrimp (Gambas al Ajillo) and lamb (Cordero Parrilla). Both were tasty but very, very small portions. I wonder about the comments by others that two plates are the suggested portion for one person. I don't think so. The staff was friendly and helpful. Now if the portions were just a little bigger. I've reviewed the photos of the same dishes as served to other people in the past, and ours were definitely smaller. read more
