I'm happy to share this little spot that includes indoor and outdoor seating. Fiddlehead is such a vibe, aesthetically pleasing and quiet for a day that you need to work at the cafe or study. The food is delicious, and the coffee it is just right. Staff are queer friendly, dog friendly, and so sweet! This is my new study spot. Thank you fiddlehead for the phenomenal and positive space you provide to the STL community!
I can't rave enough about Fiddlehead Fern Cafe. Hands down my favorite cafe city-wide right now. Customer service is amazingly hospitable. Because the spot is not ginormous; staff can actually get to know customers. It makes my day when I am recognized by name & recommendations are given based on my regular ordering habits. Small touches like this keep me coming back. Of course the food & drinks are stellar. My favorites are the smashed avocado toast and Sherry vinegar soup. Having oat milk as an option for my cortado is another WIN! The serene ambiance is warm & inviting. Very simplistic and easy to work space. Plenty of outdoor seating to accommodate those wanting to stretch out or bring your four legged friends along for a day at the cafe. Clearly I'm a regular but I'm also a fan. Keep it up! ~Christy
This is definitely one of my all-time favorite cafés: amazing energy, friendly service, gorgeous patio, excellent Cortado and delicious Queen beet toast with a generous portion and gluten-free bread. I had the pleasure of dropping in on a gorgeous Friday morning, just early enough to snag a table on the patio. An hour or so later, the place was mobbed. It was serene and relaxing, and I didn't want to leave. I'd go out of my way to hit this place up as much as possible if I lived in STL.
Finally got around to trying Fiddlehead after moving to Shaw this summer -- SO sad I waited this long! Definitely will be back (and probably too often since I live within walking distance). I *devoured* the roasted tomato and goat cheese toast and am still dreaming about the comforting herb flavor mixed with creamy goat cheese spread on fresh Union Loafers sourdough (my favorite!!). I paired my breakfast with an oatmilk horchata latte -- bonus points for no upcharge on non-dairy milk! My partner opted for the queen beet toast which was surprisingly delicious for someone who's never had beets! I loved the combination of capers & pickled beets with the spicy chipotle dressing. It was served cold with hard boiled egg on top of the same Union Loafers sourdough. He also really enjoyed his iced vanilla latte -- his go-to order anywhere. We loved eating out on the patio to take advantage of a beautiful fall morning! Seemed like a great place to study/work inside as well with lots of seating available.
After waking up before dawn on my day off I was scrolling Facebook and luxuriating in the knowledge I could snuggle in my blankets a little longer - it's the WEEKEND! Saw a friend's post about this cafe and had Pavlov's dog reaction over their photo. Checked the menu and was reaching out to a friend I knew would also be up to see if they wanted to grab breakfast. The menu offers a wide variety of coffee, latte, non-coffee, juice options. I went with the mint latte. They step fresh ment leaves to make their own syrup to be used. Has the shuttle hint of mint, as the latte is sipped. Not over powering or fake, shuttle like if you were chewing a mint leaf from the garden. My friend opted for the horchata latte, strong cinnamon but smooth. We ended up switching latte's due to the cinnamon level, it was strong for her to do a full one. I was good with both. We opted for the Peaches and Ricotta toast. It was covered in fresh peaches, whipped ricotta, housemade jam, candied pecans, local raw honey, lemon zest, and fresh thyme served on Union Loafers rustic sourdough. Second choice was the cashew butter and jam toast. It was built with housemade cashew butter, seasonal jam, pumpkin seeds, thinly sliced almonds, local raw honey, bee pollen served on Union Loafers rustic sourdough. Very fresh, refreshing, and flavorful ingredients. Farm to table with ingredients from local farms around our area. When the crowd picked up and the sun was causing the temp to raise, they opened a window making the vibe for open air cafe. They sit on the corner, so there was a cross breeze that was nice. Great friendly staff. Great food. They open at 7:00 and have ample table space to place books out for study time - which I saw a couple of individuals doing and was glad I was able to just enjoy the space without studying. Street parking available. Patio seating available - dogs welcome. Check them out!

I had the beet tartine with egg and greens--earthy, fresh, and filling without being heavy. And let's talk about the Cold Brew Martini: creamy, bold, slightly sweet, and served in the most fabulous vintage coupe glass. It felt like brunch and cocktail hour had a glamorous little baby. Before I left, I grabbed a Lavender Lime Espresso Tonic to go--floral, citrusy, and bitter in all the right ways. It's the kind of drink that makes you feel like you have your life together (even if your inbox says otherwise). The vibe, the drinks, the menu--it all hits. Thanks to a coffee connoisseur friend, I have discovered another cute cafe close to my area! The vibes are totally clean and chill here, and I love the balance of indoor and outdoor seating. Best thing is the taste of coffee was superb! Service was excellent and friendly, and I liked the way they have you order and they assign you a table or spot. That way, there's not scrambling for seats!
I want to love this place so much. I will give them one more shot. Line almost out the door in the pouring rain, why, because we St. Louisans, love this place. Am I the only one these random things happen to? Our first visit, was probably 2024, food seemed to take forever and we had awkward seating basically in the hallway to the bathroom. If I remember correctly, we were able to snag a table before we actually left, but all I remember was people trying to get by. The boyfriend loved it, so we try again, this last weekend. The line went fairly quickly, we order and some wires got crossed. Somehow my order was placed "to go" we get our cups, paper cups, ok, then we wait, what seemed a ridiculous amount of time, to find out our food had been sitting in the "to go" area for, I'm not even sure how long. They did apologize profusely and the boyfriend said his soup was still very warm, so no foul, just minor frustrations. Food was good, that's why I rated them so high. We will try again, apparently it's just my bad luck.
Cute, busy cafe near the botanical garden. We stopped by for a treat and some coffee. Lots of options and everything was high quality. Interior is clean and well organized. Very busy on a Saturday morning, but tables seemed to open up regularly. Staff was all very friendly and helpful! Drinks and pastries were all delicious and came out quick. Looking forward to our next visit!

Great coffee, calming atmosphere, healthy veg. Salads here are excellent and have some good sources of plant protein including garbanzo beans and egg. Croutons are especially standout, chewy and delicious. But note the menu is limited so don't expect food other than pastries and salad. The foot traffic inside is managed through seating customers as they order which does make the setting less chaotic. Nice atmosphere and decor, I will be back! read more

I took a chance today and was brave (drama warning...) When I arrived here this morning, I asked the person taking my order to make suggestions and just went with what they recommended. Luckily, the suggestions were divine, and my trust is still intact They did ask me what I prefer coffee-wise, and I ended up going with my usual at any café (a vanilla latte). The barista recommended their house-made vanilla syrup and suggested coconut milk with it, so I decided to trust the process. I'm gonna be honest, y'all......I thought I didn't like coconut, but my god. This latte was DELICIOUS! 10/10 I also got a cheese and chive croissant, which was yummy, but I'm definitely going to try some other things here too. I do wish it had been warmed up. The place is clean and inviting. There are a lot of tables to sit at, but there's a 90-minute limit, so I assume they get busy. Can't wait to be back soon read more
We stopped in for coffee and pastries. They have a good selection of GF and/or Vegan treats. I ordered an iced latte and a strawberry/white chocolate scone. They were both delicious and the staff was helpful in providing info. read more

Cute place. The food is very good. The drinks are ok. I love the China they use and the baristas are always nice. Limited seating inside, they have outside seating when it's warm. I've had some issues with the wifi connection so fyi if you are going there to get work done online. read more

I was working in the neighborhood and popped in for lunch. Great location right on the corner, with such a clean minimalistic aesthetic. The iron work on the gates is absolutely stunning. I walked in and was greeted straight away. All of the employees I encountered were very pleasant. I couldn't make up my mind on a beverage so I asked the server what she would recommend. She suggested a matcha with cinnamon. It was really good. Everything on the menu looked so appetizing so chose 2 options. The Calpurnia Salad and the Queen Bee Toast. Both equally delicious, bright and fresh. I couldn't finish my salad so I took it home for dinner. I normally don't take pictures of the bathrooms but the wallpaper was too pretty not to share. I'm eager for spring so I can enjoy more fantastic food and drink on the patio. read more
I really love this place. I come here almost every week. They have the best little shaded outdoor patio. It's my favorite place to study! My order is typically their horchata latte which is DAIRY FREE and delicious! Their Ube cookie is my favorite sweet and their homemade croissants are to die for. Service is always quick! read more

We were looking for a brunch place the morning after going to The Fox Theater. We ended up at this cute place. It was easy to order and the staff were friendly. They have a great patio I hope to try sometime in the future. The food was amazing. I had the best tomato soup! So flavorful and delicious. The only downfall was we could not get a second cup of coffee because they said the beans are too expensive. This was after dropping $60 for brunch for two. I feel one refill should be given. Besides that, we had a good experience. read more

I came by Fiddlehead Café to meet up with a friend and instantly fell in love with the niche, welcoming vibe. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and the avocado toast, and a cold pressed juice, all were fantastic! This place is perfect for a casual brunch or a relaxing spot to catch up on work or reading. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff, good vibes, and great food and drinks, will definitely come back. read more

Always love coming to fiddlehead fern. Service is always so friendly and welcoming. The food and coffee are great. There is a good mix of students working, friends meeting for coffee, and people just relaxing. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating in their garden area. Cannot recommend more! read more

Came here on a very busy Sunday morning so we already knew we wanted to order our drinks and food to go. You can't save a table as they are numbered and you are assigned a number after you order. There is no menu on the wall and it's not very easy to navigate to the menu on their site. They have one menu and it is at the register. Not a very good spot to put it if you don't know what you want to order yet. We ordered an iced green goddess matcha with oatmilk and we thought it was good. We shared two toasts. The roasted tomato and goat cheese was a big disappointment. It was just a thick layer of goat cheese and roasted tomatoes. The avocado toast was very good and flavorful. Both were missing micro greens as it is listed on their menu and photo online. We will probably return for the drinks but the food just isn't worth it for the price. read more

This is my favorite coffee spot in St. Louis! Whenever I get a chance I come here all the time. The customer service is always great and the ambiance is amazing. I do love the different pastries they have but I think they change often. The coffee is always great also. read more

Beautiful space, indoors and out! Ordering us done at the counter so pick up a menu to know what you want when you get there. Food on one side and drinks on the other. Next time I'll try a coffee drink but I chose water this time. Ordered and given a number, inside was full so we entered the patio area that had quite a few tables. Most shaded tables were taken so we sat at an open spot and moved when a shady spot opened. It is really a nice area with lots of tables a water station with water, napkins, and such. We enjoyed sitting outside. Our food came pretty quick. My avocado toast was beautiful! Lots of green and so fresh, Union Loafers bread the perfect vehicle. I really enjoyed the fresh flavors, the avacado. Can't wait to return and try other things and have a drink from the many options! read more

I got the roasted tomato and goat cheese toast which was way too salty. The girl at the table next to me got it as well and also thought it was insanely salty. This must have just been a bad batch because I've heard such great things about this. The bread itself and goat cheese were both delicious but it was the tomato sauce that was too salty. I also got a few pastries which were amazing and deliciously flaky. For a drink I got matcha which was good. Service was friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating is amazing during the warmer months and the indoor space is very cute and clean. Overall, I would recommend this place for coffee/tea, pastries and outdoor seating. I want to go back soon and try the food again. read more
Still awesome after all these years! Today I had the apple and ricotta toast, which was on fabulous and huge piece of bread, with whipped ricotta, house-made blueberry jam, Granny Smith apples, candied pecans, thyme, local honey, orange peel, micro greens. It was beautiful - and a total mess to eat - and I loved it. Also loving their pretty plates cups and bowls they use. Bathroom was clean, outside patio was great, and service is always wonderful. read more

OMG!! Amazing food and the sweetest staff ever! We had the avocado toast, tomato and cheese toast and a salad; all were fresh tasting and delicious. They put out vanilla ube cookies and we bought one and then went back for two more to take home to the kids. We went later in the afternoon so we didn't try the coffee yet, but we can't wait to go back. FYI: They don't take cash I wish they did because I always tip with cash. They have indoor and outdoor seating (couple tables are under a roof). Very nice space inside. read more
