I came here with a group of friends a few weekends ago. Didn't have the best experience - especially with host stand. When we got there, there were more than 10+ people huddled around the host stand. (During COVID time, this was a huge turn off). There was 4 of us for our dinner, so it was even more awkward with all these people around the host stand and standing near people who were eating. We then had to wait 10+ minutes with little to no help from host stand. I eventually asked the host stand if we could just sit outside. (Inside was packed and it was a really chilly evening.) it's also worth noting that I made reservations the week before and wasn't expecting to have to wait a lengthy time for a table. Once they realized we were okay with sitting outside, we were quickly seated outside near some heaters. I really enjoyed the outside despite the cold weather and highly recommend it for anyone eating there. The food we ordered was great. The waitress staff was a mix of people - sort of all staff takes care of you. This was great until one waitress forgot to put in our appetizers. Second waitress, which we think was actually the bartender apologized and really amped up the service. We loved her and she made our visit worth it. Food really was awesome. Ambiance: Lunch menu- 2:30pm there were 2 other couples and the place felt open with good energy. Service : on point and very attentive with water, appetizers and delivery of food. Food: Deviled Eggs and Pimento Cheese Fritters. The deviled eggs were tasty and you could taste the pickled flavor in the purple egg whites as well as the tangy mustard in the deviled egg, the pork belly was a nice added topping which was soft and chewy, not overdone or fried. The fritters were fried to perfection in a bit of tasty pepper vinegar sauce that added to the crunch and cheese flavors. (The menu reads pepper jelly but it was a liquid sauce.) My wife had the yellow beets salad and added blackened shrimp, she noted was delicious but felt it could have used some greens, perhaps arugula for more depth. I had the sloppy tides which i thought was a "salad" since it did not mention a bun. When I got the dish it was on a bun and I decided to take the top bun off. The cod fish had a hard crisped coating , stacked with slaw, pickles, onions and an over easy egg. To be honest i could not wait to check this out. But........the fish was dry to where it looked a little gray, I didn' say anything bc i figured the egg yolk was supposed to save it. The egg paired well with the opened face sandwich if only the cod fish was tender and flaky. But it wasn't..So that's about it. Would I return, yes. Came here for Saturday brunch and ordered the not your average pancakes and bayou breakfast. I thought the pancakes, which had lemon, ricotta, and blackberry compote, were actually quite average. Kind of on the dry side. The presentation did not include all the components together, kind of just the pancakes the the rest on top of it. Ran out of compote..just too high of a carb to topping ratio. The bayou breakfast included grits, ham, egg, and toast. It was much better. Very heavy and rich - def shareable! The flavors were great. Also, parking is very limited in the front, but if you go around back/side there are parking spaces with additional spots across the side street. Overall awesome decor and ambience, service is very tentative to your needs We ordered: Fried Oyster Caesar Salad - the cornmeal for the oyster was yummy! We had an excellent brunch here over the weekend. We came with a large table of friends (reservations ahead of time) and they had zero issue getting food orders and drinks coming all afternoon. This was my first time coming by and was happy to finally have something on the books to come check the place out. The building is much smaller than I imagined considering how much praise I hear about the place talking to various people. I figured it would be a huge packed to the gills hyped up food trendy spot. Instead, the interior was quiet and pleasant with maybe a dozen tables inside and close to another dozen outside. Brunch menu had a lot of interesting variances of familiar dishes. We had a lot of food sent to the table since there were so many of us and I tried a good amount of what was handed past me. The notables were of course oysters on the half shell, really REALLY good french toast plate, The Mexican Scotch Egg was fantastic and the Crab Stack. They offered the usual brunch drinks mimosas, Blinis, Bloody Mary's but also just about any other cocktail, cocktail, you're craving. Service was personable and for the most part fast. We had over a dozen people so there were times when thinks took a tic but they handled it smoothly and made the afternoon outside in that rare spring weather fantastic. We had been meaning to try F&T for quite some time, but we always seemed to hit other spots for various reasons. Then we decided that it was time to give it a shot. I called beforehand to see if they had a TV in the bar area so we could watch Bama v LSU. The employee who answered told us they did and it would depend on whether or not a game was already showing or being watched by other CUSTOMERS. That's always the case so we come in around 6:30 as she suggested and got a perfect spot at the bar. The bartender was a cool guy and made excellent cocktails. He even duplicated a drink we found in Banff to perfection for me! The Texas v TCU game was on and we asked if we could change it. At first he said that Texas had already been requested. At that point, we literally said "ahhhh man" and that was it! A few minutes later, he puts it on the Bama game without us asking again. We asked what happened, and he said he checked with EVERYONE AT THE BAR, and no one was watching and DIDN'T CARE. What a cool dude! Because it was a TEXAS restaurant, we went with the TEXAS QUAIL appetizer along with the tomato and crab "stack". The bartender also ASKED US if we wanted him to put in our main courses so HE COULD ASK THE KITCHEN TO HOLD them in case they sell out. "Great idea" we thought so my wife ordered the fish of the day and I ordered the mussels and chorizo pasta. When the appies arrived we were a bit confused. The "stack" wasn't stacked at all. It's was scattered across a platter. We had envisioned a true stack with layers of crab, tomatoes, and arugula. The quail was scrawny and burnt. I didn't complain, but my wife was annoyed by the fact that there was no meat and it was like eating a toothpick. The creamed char it was served with was AMAZING and had true southern flavors. The unstacked "stack" was tasty as well. After the appies, we had another cocktail when the bartender came back and told us they were "out" of the pasta. This was a solid 30 minutes after he had "put in our order". We were both confused how they were out of a regular menu item, much less a pasta dish. We were even more confused why it took 30 minutes to know they were out?? I will admit this was annoying. I wasn't interested in having a steak or pork chop and the couple beside us told us the grouper was awful and the steak was rare. After a while of staring at the menu, I asked what they were out of in the pasta. He asked and told us it was the mussels. Fine, so let's replace with fried oysters. He then suggested adding crab as well. Perfect! Let's do it! The banana leaf mahi mahi was delicious. It was dusted with curry and garlic and served with creamy coconut rice. My dish was ridiculous! Perfect combination of Mexican and gulf fusion! While we were eating, a man came from the kitchen and switched the channel back to Texas. I said "whoa whoa whoa" as we had been watching Bama all night. "First come first SERVE" as the person had explained over the phone. The man never looked at us and threw down the remote like "Billy bad ass". Bama was at half time so we were cool with it thinking it was just to catch up on Texas until the third quarter. WRONG! When the third quarter kicked off the bartender told us the OWNER had put it on TEXAS and refused to change it back. What?? None of the customers at the bar had wanted to watch and we had the game on before. I will admit, I was pissed. Who does that? This is when I got a little redneck. I told the bartender to tell the owner to come out here so I could go off on him. I shouldn't have cursed, but the whole way it went down was ridiculous. That doesn't excuse my reaction, and I shouldn't give this guy my time of day because he doesn't matter. When he came over, I was taller than him sitting down...he bows up and tells me we are TEXANS and that's the way it is. We exchanged some words and he kicked me out. Then he said I had been acting like a "baby" all night? WTF? Why? Who cares....I called an Uber. While I was on the phone plugging in the directions and closing the tab, he storms out of the kitchen and points out the door like some kind of enforcer. We left and will never return. If the guy reads this and thinks he would like to discuss in person, please let me know where. It would be my pleasure. We will never go back. read more

Came here on date night this past Friday with another couple and made it right before their happy hour ended at 7pm. This place is a cute little house that's cheap aged into a restaurant and there is free valet parking in the back. The decor is adorable and I loved how the restrooms were very spacious and clean. We ordered from both the happy hour menu and the regular menu since there were enough of us to share all the dishes. 1. Sloppy tides sandwich 4/5: I wasn't able to eat this dish as a sandwich because I tried to cut it into quarters and the sandwich completely fell apart on me. However, eating the fish and the slaw separately it was delicious! Just disappointed with how it didn't hold up and that was with a clean knife cut, I can't image how it would have been if I just bit into it. 2. T&F collards 5/5: These we're so tasty! They were snapper kamas! I've have yellowtail and salmon, but snapper was my first and I was not disappointed! They were deep fried and were dressed in a lemon butter type of sauce. 3. T&F Poutine 2/5: This really tasted like chili cheese fries to me so I wouldn't really call it poutine.. 4. Pimento Cheese Fritters 4/5: Can't go wrong with fried cheese! This also comes with a sweet sauce that give that sweet and savory profile. 5. Tomato Crab Stack 5/5: This was an arugula salad topped with fried green tomatoes slices and huge lumps of crab meat with a vinaigrette dressing. It was absolutely divine! This was one of the dishes that left an impression about this place for me! 6. Daily Catch Crudo 0/5: This was so salty that it was hard not spitting it back out.. this dish came out and looked so elegant but so salty that it was more like they were curing the fish. 7. Pulpo 5/5: Who knew potatoe, chorizo, and octopus makes such a great dish?! The key to this dish is you must have all these elements and it eat together to experience the "omg moment" 8. Albondigas 4/5: These are duck meatballs and I felt like it came in the same sweet sauce we got with the pimento fritters. It was good more like a heavier beef meatball. 9. T&F Mule: 4/5: This was like a basic mule anywhere it wasn't bad but nothing stood out either and I got it since it was on the HH menu. Overall, yes I would come back and this is a very cute place for date night or GNO. They have such great food but, I had to knock off a star because of my cured crudo. Field and Tides, located in the Heights, is one of those renovated old homes. Parking was a bit weird though because they have this vacant, white house/business next door and valet was behind that. If you don't want to valet, you can try to find street parking as the location is mainly residential. Inside was very dimly lit. Very rustic feel. Their fans had fans as wings. The ceiling had some weird, fury-like material... kind of like spray on insulation lol. anyways. to the food we go! -Halibut (3/5) - served with quinoa and topped with jumbo lump crab. This was kind of dry and overcooked, which made it have a more meaty texture than normal. Nothing special with the quinoa and kind of bland too. ($35) -Venison (4/5): served with braised cabbage and poblano mash. First time trying deer! I requested medium rare and when it came out... it looked rare... Not sure whether it was because of the braised cabbage and how dark it was inside, but we didn't complain. It was pretty good. Nice and tender. Definitely had a gamey after taste. I've never been able to figure out that taste, until this. Makes me wonder whether it was actually rare lol. Didn't try the cabbage but I loved the poblano mash. Nice and creamy. ($42) -Scallops (4/5): served with creamy risotto and shrimp. You get 3 scallops. Briefly seared and seasoned to maintain it's integrity, which I appreciated. Felt as though the risotto could've been cooked a bit more. There was too much of a raw feeling bite for me. Maybe it's supposed to be like that, but this was just my preference. ($27) -Gulf Snapper (4/5): served with a lemon herb risotto. I enjoyed this risotto more than the one with the scallops... or maybe it was the other way around... The snapper could have had a crispier skin. It may have been our fault for letting it sit as we tried the other items though. -Fried Brussels Sprouts (5/5): the best side dish ever! I have been trying to find brussels sprouts better than the ones at Uchi. THIS MAY BE IT!!! It was so good. Usually, the brussels sprouts are cut in half. These were chopped up, which probably helped cook it all the way. It's very unappetizing when you bit into brussels sprouts and get that bitter after taste. ($5) Would I come back? Maybe to try the brunch. Now that I think about it... the seafood was kind of bland, but the brussel sprouts brought everything to life. Gave it flavor and texture. $5 well spent :) read more

Really for 2 visits. Ate here a few Saturday nights ago with wife and some family. We have not been here since it changed from Zelko. It was a rainy night and we sat in the secondary building, which I prefer as it's a little quieter. 3 of us had cocktails. Mine was a dirty martini, others had an old fashioned. They were very good if a bit small. Appetizers - oysters and Brussel sprouts-awesome, as everyone else has noted! - crab and Brie fondue. Also awesome! Entrees - we shared. Desserts are not what you would go here for. Also went for brunch with a larger group this last Sunday.
