The space is small but you have to call and make a reservation or you could sit at the bar. Wine selection is great, food is amazing, the staff is super sweet and welcoming. Even if you have to wait you can clearly tell that everyone is busting their tail and trying to get everyone seated and serve as quickly as possible. Wow...we have been wanting to go here for a very long time, as it's one of the more highly-rated places that we haven't been yet, so we decided brunch was as good a time as any, and we were correct. I couldn't decide between pork schnitzel and french toast, so I just ordered both, figuring someone would help me eat them. Wow what a great cafe/bistro! The food was fantastic and our waitress was great. My only feedback is to ask your staff not to smoke right outside the kitchen because the smell wafts into the outdoor seating area. This was unpleasant and made it difficult to fully enjoy our meal. read more

Ah Fig- in a town filled with so many culinary wonders, I was happily impressed. For starters, the servers were fun, engaging, and super friendly. The pork belly appetizer with parsnip puree and pomegranate gastrique was awesome. I mean tender as all hell get in my pork belly, with a slightly crispy outer skin. Everything worked with this dish. The duck entree was cooked to a perfect med-rare, with October beans in a Sherry jus. Oh, and corn fritters! Those were amazing. The banana cake with banana brulé, peanut butter, chocolate, and honey roasted peanuts was also fantastic . like a deconstructed smoothie or something. Rich and satisfying. Price point? perfect. We made sat minute reservations at Fig during Thanksgiving weekend. It was a chilly night and Fig has a lovely cozy romantic setting. It's a small restaurant, but we had a lovely time. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started out and shared an order of the pork belly which was delish. For dinner we both had the Lemon Lime Risotto with Rock Shrimp. It was seasoned perfectly and the citrus kick set off the dish. We were both pleasantly surprised at the amount of shrimp included in the dish. We cleaned out plates. For dessert, we had the pots de creme. Very rich and chocolatey, but great to share to cap off a great meal. read more

I liked this place. Really nice, intimate ambiance. It's a pretty small place, so I would get reservations. Our server was very friendly, and even started us out with complimentary champagne. The pork belly appetizer and the winter greens salad were both very good. The pork was well cooked (not overdone) and the salad was simple, but very good. For the entrees, we had duck breast with an apple and brussels sprouts hash and the pork tenderloin with sweet potato and spiced prunes. Both meats were cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the accompanying sides were really interesting, adding a lot to the dishes. The pork tenderloin dish was both familiar and comforting but also unique and interesting. For dessert, we had cookies and milk, which are pretty unique on a dessert menu, and were really good! I wasn't greatly impressed with the wine list, but we found something that went pretty well with the meal. Overall, a good meal...we left satisfied. read more

A very good option in the medium-priced range. Just a dozen or so tables inside, but our table for two was not cramped in the slightest. The Biltmore Village surroundings are nice and walkable. Balanced menu with a meat, poultry, or fish to tempt every taste. The medium-rare duck breast was tender and fatty. Cheese board appetizer is plenty for two. Service is attentive and experienced. Complete but not overwhelming wine list, focusing on California and French reds, with an emphasis on blends. This is the only place so far in Asheville where I've seen a Sauternes on the dessert wine list; but the portions were big enough that by dessert time I was too full to try it. I would have given Fig 5 stars, but nothing we tasted blew our minds away. Everything was very good, but not in that sublime range that makes you just go "wow." read more

We ate there just after they had renovated during the pandemic. The dishes were fabulous! The owner was there and we had a delightful conversation with her. The dessert selection was fantastic - we enjoyed several of them. I've recommended this establishment to everyone who tells me that they are visiting Asheville. Dinner on Valentine's evening was a very pleasant experience. Not rushed due huge crowds like many places on this the second most busy night of the year for most restaurants. Pommes Frites were very nicely seasoned. Mains, Salmon, Risotto(with added shrimp) and the Bolognese were all very good. We will return. read more

Sadly I saw that everyone posted reviews about seafood but the damn place only had one seafood dish! And it was a salmon! So beware, this place is a bistro so the menu changes very often! Pan seared salmon was nice but was a little bland. Grilled chicken was dry and could have used more sauce but the rice with fava beans and charred cauliflower were nice. A friend & I had went for a pedicure nearby and stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. Several open tables but we were asked if we had a reservation and we said no. We were seated at a tiny table (with 2 four top tables open next to us through the whole meal) and I ordered Mac-n-cheese and my friend had the bolognese. It was fantastic and wonderful service. I'd say that the only downside is that my friend and I started to "catch up" and talking for awhile so they asked us to leave so they could vacate the table because they had "a lot of reservations coming in". Yuuuummm! I can't have milk or heavy cream type things, so I ordered the bolognese without cream. It was great! I had my first hot toddy, my husband had the tomato cream soup with a salad and we got the wine pear dessert with the soft cheese on the side. Everything was delicious! Sun was our bartender and server. He was super friendly and attentive. Our food came out really fast! It was such a good end to a rough day. What a great spot. We were touring the Biltmore Village and saw Fig. I had heard of it, but wasn't sure if we could get in. We luckily got there before the Sunday crowd and enjoyed an amazing brunch. We started with the doughnuts, OMG, light and fresh. I ordered the daily quiche, roasted garlic and chirizo, and my Mom enjoyed the crispy poached eggs and truffle risotta. All was wonderful. AWESOME Vegan place. Had the Hot and Sour soup which was very delicate yet spicy. The grilled Ceasar was super good too, with amazing croutons and a great dressing. It's limited seating in their cute little courtyard but they do take reservations. As others have pointed out, this is some of the best food in Asheville! Located at the tail end of Biltmore Village, Fig is an unassuming little cafe that packs a big punch in taste. My friend, whose family is local, told us that Fig is her fave in Ashville, so we checked it out. We first showed up between lunch and dinner to find them closed, then we showed up next day before they opened. Perhaps we were excited? Check hours prior to heading over. The menu was simple and the food was outstanding. The macaroni au gratin with side of simple greens was perhaps the best we've ever had. Beware of sharing it, as that's a recipe for a family fight. The portions were generous compared to other similar places that I've been to. our entrees were so big that we didn't have much space for dessert. The only negative (ie. might not really be considered a negative for others) that I might add is the limited amount of appetizer options. We don't eat pork/ham; so we were limited on the appetizer option. All in all, Fig is an excellent local restaurant in Asheville. We would love to recommend this to our friends or whoever is visiting Asheville. read more

Asheville, N. C. is a long way down I-81 from Baltimore. The downtown and surrounding areas are dotted with art and good places to eat. While the Beaufort House Inn B&B took great care of us for breakfast, we were on our own for lunch and dinner. They did provide us with a list of local favorites. Fig got a good review,so we headed there one night. Asheville could use more street signs and the streets sometimes change names, but nothing is very far away. Fig is in an office/shop complex. Like a smaller version of Cross Keys. We saw the sign from the street and found the entrance to the courtyard. Five or six tables outside and maybe close to the same inside. We sat outside in the cool Summer evening. Fig is one of those places where you put a fork or spoonful in your mouth and then let the flavors unwind before chewing and swallowing. Fig has their own twist for french fries and our new friend at the net table shared a few with us. I seldom see sweetbreads on a menu and they were not on the online menu. They had them and I was hooked. They were nicely prepared, delicate and tasty. Bette had the Salmon with melted leeks, fingerling potato home fries, oyster mushrooms, pinot noir jus. We shared one dessert; Panna Cotta. It was described as lemon and goat cheese panna cotta, raspeberry-thai chili sorbet, fig balsamic reduction. A lot of words there, but the combination was sublime. If you're a foodie, you will enjoy Fig. read more

After reading several Yelp reviews I have to say our party of eight were disappointed ! I had the PEI Mussels which were nice and the Tuna salad appetizer which was also ok. A few of our party had the Risotto which I sampled and was overalls citrus and the rock shrimp added nothing to the dish. On the positive side the Salmon and chicken breast dishes were VERY good. Wine list was limited and slightly over market price. read more
