Specific to experience at this location only: AM servers were incompetent. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Not complicated. Received a bagel, split in half, no cream cheese. I went back to the counter to request cream cheese and the cashier looked at me, agog. "What?" May I please have cream cheese on the bagel, the way I ordered it. Blank stare. The other cashier tries to help. "Do you want a refund?" No, I would like cream cheese. I understand that since I unwrapped it you can't touch it again, perhaps you could put some cream cheese in a tiny container for me? Now both servers are staring at me blankly, as if I'm the first customer to ever ask for cream cheese... in a bagel and cream cheese shop. There seems to be some anger towards bagels this year, so I want to spread the love a bit: I am a huge fan of the french toast ones, and since I love all things sweet, these fit the bill. I've never even had one with anything on it, most of the time they are room temp, but damn these are good. I stopped in earlier this week after blowing up Boylston St in the wild pre-rain winds, picked up 6 of them, and would have taken a whole dozen but there were only 8 or so (and I should be kind and leave a couple for others who may also need their bagel fix). Ordered online at 10:15 for a breakfast sandwich, was suppose to be finished at 10:25. Since it was busy there, I decided to continue to wait until 10:35. At that point I decided to ask one of the person behind the counter about my order, and before I can finish my question, I was interrupted with a "if your order isn't on the counter, it isn't ready" response. At that point I just wanted a refund, so I ended up waiting in line that stretch outside so I could speak to the cashier. At 10:45 I got to the cashier and explained to her my order situation and that I want a refund. The cashier and her co-worker (the person that I first tried to speak to) insisted that they can make me the sandwich fast. I said "no it's fine, I just want a refund because I'm not going to have time to eat before going to work. But they kept saying that they can finish it fast. I ended up agreeing to not create a scene and hold up the already long line. When I received my breakfast sandwich, the first person I spoke to apologized and said "sorry I thought you were Grubhub". You literally could've asked me... but you assumed that I was from Grubhub. What's the point of online ordering to save time when I ended up spending 40 minutes for my sandwich. Just let your customer finish their question next time... Bummer because this is my spot for breakfast sandwiches. I have walked past Finagle A Bagel many many times but never went in as I'm usually not a huge fan of bagel and cream cheese. Last Sunday, I signed up for a community fundraising walk and wanted to get a quick breakfast in the backbay area. So I finally tried Finagle and had a very satisfying breakfast. I got the breakfast sandwich with everything bagel, egg, sausage and tomato ($5). My bf got the poppy seed bagel with egg, chorizo, tomato and avocado ($6). The bagels are toasted nice and warm and both sandwiches were tasty, although I thought the chorizo one was definitely better and more flavorful (it's a bit spicy). It was nice that they had outdoor seatings and a 2nd floor with additional seatings. Also, I was fascinated by their super cool bagel slicing machine (maybe I'm just weird) which perfectly slices the bagel that comes through the "assembly line" in a second. read more

Here is the headline for this place: Efficient, Fast & Tasty. This is a chain bagel and coffee place that provides coffee and bagels that tastes the way they are supposed to. I was in early on a Saturday morning for breakfast and left satisfied. They have an assembly line style bagel preparation set up that is cool and efficient. The service I received was good. The coffee was hot if unspectacular and provided the desired caffeine delivery. I received good value and all in all this place was exactly what I was expecting. Great spot for bagels and a pretty view of Copley Square and Trinity Church! There were lots of options for bagels and different cream cheeses, so many cream cheeses in fact that I couldn't decide what kind I wanted. They were nice enough to split my cream cheese half and half between roasted red pepper and garden scallion. Our bagels were ready pretty quickly and we were able to eat in the nice open upstairs space overlooking the square. The everything bagel was great and I loved the cream cheeses, and they did a good job with the cream cheese to bagel ratio (so many bagel places put WAY too much cream cheese on their bagels). Finagle A Bagel is so delicious... Boy was I mind-blown. I was expecting mediocre but I was amazed at how tasty the bagels were. I came here after a late night yoga class with a girlfriend and we were hungry. We stopped by on the way home and a LOT OF THEIR BAGELS were SOLD OUT. Hence, if you are wanting a specific bagel (i.e. everything, onion & garlic...etc) it will probably be sold out after a morning rush. Regardless, the service was great. They offered us substitutions or alternative choices from the minimal bagel selection they had left. I unfortunately do not remember the names of the bagel sandwiches that we got, but I do recall what was inside: 1) Street CHICKEN SALAD BAGEL SANDWICH (i think): This bagel sandwich was nicely tasted and delicious. They ran out of plain bagels so I got it on a sesame bagel and it was equally as good. The dressing was so good. According to the servers, it's their "SPECIAL SAUCE," and let me tell you -- it was special! (haha) It wasn't too sweet and didn't make the bagel all soggy. It balanced out the savoriness from bacon and chicken salad and nicely coated the bagel. I was so full from eating less than half of the bagel sandwich. (5/5) 2) OPEN SEASME Bagel Sandwich: My friend got this and she really enjoyed it as well. She was craving something with avocado & Sriracha and Finagle A Bagel pulled through. My absolute favorite place to get a egg sandwich or the huevos rancheros is absotively delicious! The staff are wonderful people and courteous. I only wish they'd reopen the Newton store again as I live near there. But stopping in to the boston store on way to work always makes my day. Chain bagel store near back bay Boston. Kind of sums up what you're getting here. 4-5 cream cheeses, ample selection of bagels and a crazy bagel cutting contraption to slice them up. They also offer a nice variety of breakfast sandwiches from lox to egg/cheese. So what's not to like - the bagels and cream cheese are just simply "okay". The cream cheese was pretty runny with the bagel I got and the bagels, while definitely above average, just don't stand out in terms of texture and toppings. Coffee was fine - again - just nothing really to make it stand out. Given the lack of bagel shop selections in the area if I was in the mood for a bagel in the area I would probably come back. We went today, bought food, knowing it was going to be a bit crazy because it's marathon weekend and Easter. I'm a lifelong Bostonian and go to trinity church every year I get it. But I asked the guy ringing us out if I could take my daughter to the bathroom and he directed us upstairs and started to tell us what I think was the bathroom code. A manager cut us off to say "no the upstairs is reserved." I told her that's fine, we don't want to sit there, I just want to take her to the bathroom and she just repeated twice that the upstairs is reserved. In Boston and needed a quick breakfast. This place was tasty enough. I think being from Texas, we prefer heartier and more savory breakfast (think breakfast tacos). But when we needed to stop before heading out to check out the sights, this place was okay. To be honest, I don't even remember what I had. It was for sure a breakfast sandwich with bacon/egg. Service: Surly, rude staff and manager. Reluctant to comply with the customer's requests. Entitled. Product: Pizza bagel was AMAZING! Very good! The Baja Bagel was terrible. The first one had a tiny amount of cold black beans and a few pieces of lukewarm chorizo sausage. Initially they tried to give me a pre-cooked egg which wasn't "hand cracked" as far as I could tell. When I asked them for a fresh one they looked at me as if I had three heads. I let them know that the sandwich was cold and they made a new one reluctantly. The egg they served me was overcooked and flattened and looked nothing like the delicious over easy egg on the picture. I was extremely disappointed. Won't be eating there again. Note: They told me that they were "not allowed" to cook eggs over easy because they couldn't cut the bagel in half (not that I asked them to) and that I might catch "diseases". I had to delete a review I wrote several years ago because now I'm a BIG fan of Finagle A Bagel. I don't go there as often as I used to, but when I do I consider it a treat. I like to go here for a quick lunch when I want to either take a walk to the public garden or the farmer's market across the street. You can't beat the view from the sitting area upstairs, by the way. I usually get the Fiesta Grande salad, which is muy MUY grande. There is probably a whole chicken's worth of chicken in this salad, and it's good. I have had a hard time finishing this salad, so it's well worth the $7.49. Yes, that's right - $7.49 for a huge salad with chicken. A great deal. Their bagel sandwiches are awesome too, as are the soups. Recently I ordered a catered "Executive Lunch" for a work meeting, and it was a huge hit. There was a lot of food left over too, so I highly recommend them if you need food for a work thing. I really like the people who work here, and appreciate that it's a women-owned business. I hope they stay here for a long time. P.S. They take LevelUp here, which I appreciate. read more
