We had to add our review. Finley's has a great feel. Historic and fun. It has a history of haunting as well. It has never served the quality of meals you get n SF or the Bay Area restaurants. What sold the place is the ambiance and they do usually make a good cocktail. The couple is super nice. It is more like going to someone's house for dinner than fine dining. Yes, you can tell the salad is packaged and the toppings more in line with going to your aunts for dinner. This was fine until the last time we ate there. Ordered a chopped salad and a steak salad . Ordered two drinks One of which was the wrong mixer with the vodka. The salads were sub par. I asked for no blue cheese and the husband gave me ranch with blue cheese mixed in. My son said the salad did not taste fresh. The ending? The bill was $96.00 for these two bad salads. They are charging way too much to make up for lack of business. Working at the nearby airport, I thought I would check out their lunch as we're have company coming to visit soon & it's looks cute from outside~ SO many things wrong at this place - First the good stuff; it's very cute & quaint. Now the rest: the grounds are pretty & I asked to look outside-The Owner/manager person-took me outside, introduced me to a cat sitting on one of the tables and then walked into the bathroom leaving me to wonder where to go - the rest of the gardens were chained off! I went back in and waited for the Lunch Special - I was told thin sliced roast beef on warm bread with a bed of shrimp & rice salad. It took some time, no problem, I'll wait for good food, {although I had to ask for an Iced Tea refill even though I was the only customer !)} Sandwich came out on Cold-White Wonder Bread with mayo & mustard ( I don't care for mayo or mustard and would have mentioned had I known that was on it)- The shrimp were small and tasted canned, the rice was either under cooked or really old and I had several crunchy bites. I decided to just take the meat ( for my dogs) and not complain, but the woman asked me if it was OK - so, I told her the condition of the rice ( you could see the hard pieces I put aside on the plate) - then she went in the back & took a bite and told me it was 'fine'- { There was no comment, or asking,if "can I get you something else or anything"-nothing - like I did something wrong!) Then when she gave me the bill, she said maybe I or one or two hard pieces of rice- Gross- Then I paid $17.25 for the Worst Lunch I have ever had- even if it had been free (at $17 certainly not free!) this was really bad! So sad- the place has been around awhile ( I guess the bar does well)- and it is so cute - Also - No cell phone signs on All the tables - but the owner was on her phone texting and it keep ringing back - I thought that was a bit hypocritical- Hopefully they'll read this and fix their service, pricing and food. A buddy of mine and I were out doing stuff, tractor supply, Costco, Boot Barn--just kinda guy stuff. We were hungry, and he asked if I would like a great burger. Sure, thinking I know every back road burger house within 20 miles. Was not prepared for Finley's. Middle of no where, (like where I live) we pull in, and I am thinking hummmm We ordered, place was very cool, my kind of low keyed place-not pretentious. Burgers came and WOW, DELICIOUS, I was impressed, and will now Finleys will be on my list of places to eat. Dinner menu looked good, and if the food is as good as the lunches it will make your day. My husband and I just had our very first meal at Finley's and it will most certainly be the first of MANY. This is a charming century old farmhouse-restaurant, run by the owner, Debbie Finley, who is just as friendly as she is charming and capable as your waitress. First of all it's a nice place on the outside, a little dated on the inside. That's where the nice ends.. Deborah (our waitress/the owner) looked overwhelmed the very first second the whole family arrived.. (birthday party, max 15 people). Not enough menus to go around, she rolled her eyes when asked for a refill on water and she couldn't remember who ordered what. Everyone's dinners came out at all different times so no one was able to enjoy it together, finally my burger came out (if you want to call it that) and it looked chewed up, over cooked and small. The prices are way too expensive and Deborah was also extremely rude. I will NEVER go back to this place or recommend any of my friends or family to go here either. I always heard great things about this bar and they did not disappoint. My husband and I showed up at 2:30pm on a Sunday and we told them this was our first time. They were so welcoming and friendly. The food is not served until 5pm so we stayed and just chatted and had a great time. The owners, Debra and her husband are great people. The regulars here are very rude. They were constantly dropping the word NIGGER like it was normal and everyone was ok. I am Mexican and was very offended by their comments but it seems to be a norm here. The fellow making the comment had his make America great again hat on and connected his Bluetooth to the radio at the bar and played country music that talked about whipping niggers. The owner of the bar seemed fine with this music playing. would not recommend coming here if you are a person of color. SERIOUSLY. Short story, the owner of this restaurant is extremely rude & incredibly uncooperative. & their food is horrible! Long Story: My fiancé & I stopped at this restaurant about 6 months before our wedding; we wanted to check it out as a possible location for our rehearsal dinner. (Our wedding was at The River Mill & we thought the location of Finley's would be perfect for the rehearsal dinner) We liked what we saw...a small, cozy restaurant that seats about 30, a cute outdoor patio & a unique bar. We spoke with Deborah (the owner) about reserving our date & asked if we could pick four or five dishes from their menu & make our "own" menu. She said this would not be a problem. So we paid the $100 deposit with a credit card & went on our way. Three months later my fiancé, my Mom & I stopped to have lunch. We wanted to get her opinion on our choice of restaurant. My fiancé ordered an appetizer combo plate, my mother ordered a hamburger & I wasn't hungry. Both my Mom & fiancé enjoyed their meals & my mother thought Finley's was an excellent choice for the rehearsal. Two months later (9 wks from the rehearsal date) we all went back to have dinner & brought my Dad along as well. We needed to decide what would be on "our" menu. We all ordered different items. My Dad got the Pork Tenderloin, my Mom the Chicken Dijon, my fiancé a Bacon Cheeseburger & I opted for a Veggie Burger. While waiting for our meals to come we spoke with the owner, Deborah. We asked her again about picking items to form our own menu...this time she said that we could not do that & that we had to pick from one of their standard catering menus. When we asked why we were previously told that making our own menu wouldn't be a problem she insisted that we must have spoken to someone else the first time. (Umm, no, we spoke with her when we reserved the date & again several months later, over the phone, when again she told us the personalized menu wouldn't be a problem.) After a couple more questions about table arrangements & beverages, our meals arrived & she left us to "enjoy" our dinners. Ahh the food...we all absolutely HATED our meals! My Mom's Chicken Dijon wasn't an actual chicken breast, it was thick sliced chicken that you would get from a deli & use on a sandwich. My Veggie Burger wasn't a "burger" at all; it was cut up chunks of carrot, zucchini, & squash lying on a bun with some cheese. A week later we had another restaurant booked for our rehearsal & my fiancé contacted Deborah at Finley's to see about getting our $100 deposit back. He was informed that he would need the original receipt (which we had) & a copy of the credit card statement where the charge appeared (thought that was a little weird, but we got a copy anyways). My fiancé & Deborah agreed to meet the next day at 11:00 a.m. to process the refund. The morning of the meeting my fiancé called Finley's & left a message for Deborah with an employee who answered the phone...his message, I'm running late & will be there by 12:00 p.m. (Side note, we live 30 minutes from Finley's, so it's not exactly a quick thing to make a trip there.) My fiancé arrived for his appointment at 11:50 & Deborah was not there. He was told that she had an appointment & hadn't bothered to call my fiancé to let him know. When he asked if someone else could help him, he was told no. As he was about to leave Deborah walked in & told my fiancé that she was with a customer & that he would need to leave the original credit card receipt & the copy of the credit card statement. My fiancé really didn't want to leave anything, especially not the credit card statement. Deborah was totally un-willing to quickly process the refund & insisted he leave the items. My fiancé asked why she just couldn't refund him in cash & was told that he paid by credit card, so that was the method that he would be refunded...even though it's been six months since we paid the deposit & they have already gotten the cash for the transaction. After deliberation he left the items with Deborah because another 30 minute trip, ONE WAY, was not feasible. After countless un-returned phone calls to Deborah I sent a certified letter to Finley's, asking for a refund of our $100 & I filed a complaint with the BBB. The BBB was of little use. The owner of Finley's claimed that we knew the refund was not refundable & even went so far as to write "Not Refundable" on the copy of the receipt WE supplied her...too bad I made a copy of the original before giving it to her & it shows no such statement! My husband contacted his credit card provider & asked for a refund through them. Finley's was given the option to rebut the refund of our money...which they did. But the credit card company sided with us & refunded out $100...FINALLY! It only took 7 months! I decided to post our story as a cautionary tale to any unsuspecting patrons who may think Finley's would be a great pick for their special celebration. Unbelievably bad!! Ordered their "specialty" prime rib. Was size and shape of a petite pork chop and had no flavor. The cut was horrible and had veins and hard gristle throughout the 4 bites I tried. When I turned the meat over it had obviously been either previously frozen and nuked to warm it or put in a pan with water to heat. VERY BAD!! Potatoes were decent. Salad OK. $25???!! Another person in our party of 4 had some sort of rubbery chicken dish, which was only sampled and pushed to the side as well. Beer was only bright spot in the experience. Went back last summer and boy was I disappointed. Prices had gone up, as indicated on the menu in black sharpie. I don't mind shelling out for good food, but dinner was pretty bad. The waiter also seemed to be the cook. After we ordered dinner, chicken caesar for hubby and chicken dijon for me, the waiter went back to the kitchen and we started hearing microwave sounds. Bad times. Our meals came out pretty quickly. The caesar salad was topped with HOT chicken, and the lettuce was wilting. My chicken dijon had a glutinous sauce atop it. The chicken in both dishes was sliced, cottony dry, and oddly uniform in shape. It appeared to be prepackaged and heated at the last minute. And the prices were HIGH!! A recap: The two of us were seated at a round table for five in the back. There were no tables for two in the back room. Off to a strange start. I ordered gin & tonic with extra lime. Was brought it with one lemon & the tonic was flat. Asked for limes: " I'll see if we have any". They came eventually. Husband ordered a Manhattan--was extremely red & sweet. The bread? Random, odd slices, dunked in butter-ish something & thrown on grill--some were quite soggy. Both of us ordered dinner salad with bleu cheese dressing. Lettuce was not fresh, mushy cucumbers, and one random slimy mushroom. I ordered scampi. It was served w/ mashed potatoes and frozen out of the bag vegetables. Never had scampi without pasta before. And calling it scampi is a stretch. No fresh garlic or onions or parley, but it was swimming in a sea of clarified butter. The mashed potatoes were edible. Hubby ordered rib eye, med. rare. Very rare, inferior cut of meat. Even my diet soda was flat--she took that off the bill. Came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we ended up loving it. They had mauve walls, deep green carpet, taxidermied boars and buffalo, Victorian furniture, and little signs at their tables that said "no cell phones, please." I loved it! It was so different. The clam chowder was super delicious- thick, hearty, and flavorful. The Finleys burger was awesome. At first, I thought a burger with bacon AND ham on it might be too much. But it wasn't. It looks like their backyard garden area is really lovely and would be great for a quaint wedding. Definitely check out this little gem! read more
