So yesterday was me and my son and my friends first trip to FU Fired Up because my son found it on Instagram. They did not disappoint! The customer service was so good. Seeing as if we are dealing with Covid right now the staff was well protected with masks, gloves when needed and sanitizer. The pizza was so good! My picky son loved it! He's simple and had the 10 inch cheese and devoured all but 2 slices which he ate later that night. My friend and I had the meat pizza. It was incredible! No photos. Chose to try this over another place we love. Larry's has been around a long time. I have had many lunch/ dinners at various Larry's over the years. But it has been a while and I was wanting my go to... An antipasta salad. Larry's was my first and my go to for that salad. So now that my boy is into antipasta salads, I brought him here. And because we wanted to try out the pizza, what better location. So it is a seat yourself after you order at the counter type place. New to their pizza concept, we ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza and added a few veggies. And of course an Antipasta salad. Onion Rings sounded good, so we added those as well. Close to $50 with tip. They brought the food out to us. Generous salad portion but my son and forgot the "no peppers" and so we had to take those out. No biggie. But he immediately hated seeing American cheese on the salad. I laughed because I think I mentioned that it was what they did. But it had been years since I came to Larry's for a salad. He hated it because no one else gave him American cheese on his antipasta in the past. But that isn't where my lower rating comes from. It was the pizza. At $19 plus another $4.50 for three vegetables they really flubbed it up. Too much marinade from the artichokes pretty much permeated the entire pizza and well, made it soggy. The fact that the entire middle fell out as soon as you attempted to pull a slice was not great. Plus the dough in the middle was uncooked. One of the workers noticed me flopping it back onto the pie plate and just scooping the toppings away with my fingers. Yeah.. Not great at all. Needless to say, it been a day since I had the pizza and I remember nothing about the flavor. Just the uncooked dough. The crust really wasn't very good but I am pretty picky about my pizza. I don't like just anyone's pizza crust. In fact, I think it is a huge part in whether or not I like a pizza. Pizza isn't a favorite of mine and this set pizza back in my book. I mean, great location and concept. They even got the fancy pizza oven. Yet, whoever was manning the pizza oven that night wasn't feeling it. Wood fired pizza, wings, delicious sammys, salads, full bar, beer but yet family friendly. There's no table service- you walk in and get in line and order from the plethora of choices. We got the mahgerita 14in pizza and cheesy bread. I know Larry's has great subs so I wanted to see what the PIZZA was all about. Restaurant was very clean, drink area was very clean and had plenty of choices and lemons in single cups (love that!). Tables have hot sauce, parm cheese and red pepper shaker. Our cheese bread was hot and delicious! The marinara on the side was plentiful and hot too. Then the pizza arrived and we could literally see the steam coming off of it. Everything was fresh and delicious. The music was upbeat, it's decorated for a fun atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Neapolitan perfection. Have been here 3 times now and more impressed each time. I was a bit skeptical checking them out at first as they are attached to Larry's Giant subs but I am so glad I did. The place is pretty cool inside. There is a nice indoor outdoor wrap around bar with indoor and outdoor restaurant seating. You can order food from the bar or go up to the counter to order your pizza or subs. Let's start with the crust. I believe they claim to use NY type water. Whatever this place is doing they better keep it up. The crust is definately consistent with neopolitan pizza with the perfect amount of chew and wood fired flavor. The crust is light and airy. The pizzas do not take very long to cook which is a plus! I have tried the margarita buff pie twice, the white pie and a margharita with hand pinched sausage. The pizza is not too cheesy and cooked to my liking. Everytime has been consistent which is key. The tomatoes are fresh and sweet. I must admit I could eat an entire large pie to my face alone. I've also tried the wings that are wood fired with the Peruvian sauce and wow those are the perfect combo of smoky, sweet and spicy. The service is great here at the bar which is where we usually sit. Place is clean inside and well kept. We are from Southside in jax so making the trip all the way over the bridge 3 times in the short period of time they have been open speaks volumes on how much I love this place. I am originally from NY and this place packs some serious competition with some of my favorite neopolitan places on arthur ave in the bronx. If I lived closeby to FU we would have serious problems because I'd be ther everyday. read more

So, we stopped here after having brunch at Murray Hillbilly. Their pizza dough is vegan, so we were initially excited. We were already full from brunch so we decided to have drinks here....I am glad we did as we were able to watch the cooks as we sipped on their awesome bottomless mimosas (props to our bartender who was AMAZING). First, we noticed one of the cooks go outside to smoke. He came back inside and not only failed to wash his hands (he walked from the door straight to the prep area), but we also leaned into the prep counter after touching his face and started prepping a pizza without gloves. So, if you really like the sweat and cigarette smell, he will really lock in the flavor for you. Then, there is a second cook who is in charge of putting the pizza inside the wood-fired oven and taking them out. Although he didn't go outside to smoke with the prep cook, he did have a little 'sweat rag' he kept using to clean his hands and wipe the sweat off his forehead intermittently. Separately from the sweat rag (that also got tucked in the small of his back by his crack), was also a rag he used to wipe the tool he was using to put the pizzas in the oven and take them out. Same rag he also touched with his hands, sans gloves, after putting his sweat rag in the small of his back and touching his face and sweaty forehead with, just before cleaning the big spatula that held every pizza ordered that day. The Hungry Howie's side did use gloves, so if you want a clean meal, make sure you stay away from the pizzas. P.D. The pizza prep-cook was missing his front teeth. I was on the fence between 3 or 4 stars for this place, but I keep coming back so I went with a 4. The food has always been pretty good, service is average, and the prices are overall acceptable. Unless you sit at the bar, you don't get waited on and instead you order at the counter (not my favorite set up but can be convenient). They have a great happy hour which, as a lush, I love (50% off drinks, 25% off apps). No complaints here, i have always left satisfied, but it's just not a place that I would write home about, unless what I'm writing home about is their happy hour! read more

The staff were great. The pizza expensive. The crust was soggy, flavorless and so very thin...and I like thin crust pizza. The NY water did not help. Toppings: Eggplant very bitter, artichokes bland, roasted red peppers mushy with no flavor. I have never had to use salt on a pizza in my life until now. Cheese and sauce simply not up to par. Suggestions: Make a flavorful sauce. Select another cheese as this one doesn't cut it. You have a wood fired grill...grill the veggies they would have a whole lot more flavor. A group of family ventured to this restaurant for some good pizza and a pleasant atmosphere to break bread together. We are all South Florida transplants, having relocated to the Jacksonville area about a year ago. So we were not disappointed in our decision to give Fired Up Pizza a go. We walked in and observed a casual and quaint environment. We were greeted and seated promptly--it was not busy when we arrived, just a few scattered patrons and the staff. Our server was genuinely friendly and helpful in the order taking process and promptly served us out beverages while we waited for our pizza pies. We ordered three different ones, 14 inch pies as I recall, so to gives a broad introduction to the flavors offered. When the pizzas arrived, in a very reasonable time I might add, they were very good, nice balance and the crust was nicely crispy without unneeded charring as the pizza is prepared in a coal fired oven. The server remained attentive throughout our meal. My wife and I took a piece of tiramisu home as we were quite filled. The tiramisu had great Espresso flavor with the cream being just enough to mellow the acidity of the coffee. We enjoyed ourselves at this unassuming restaurant. Shares the interior with Larry's Subs which was a little confusing at first. Just order at the counter what you want and they will bring it out (fast!). As for the pizza-- the first thing we noticed was the cheese- it has a pinkish color but is good. The ratio of sauce to cheese was near perfect. Pepperoni was excellent-has more of a sausage taste to it. We liked the crust: not too chewy like some places. We also enjoyed their cheese curds! Ordered two sandwiches from Fired Up for take-out today for lunch. I run a local business so I don't have time to lock the door and return really bad food. Aside from missing tomato on one sandwich, the bread was the worst I've ever tried to eat...soaked in grease, raw on the inside. Pizza dough I guess. The to-go package was clear plastic, so the hot sandwiches were sure to be be soaked and soggy by the time we opened the containers. Really bad concept and execution. My boyfriend and I came to town last weekend and heard great things about FU Pizza. We heard they had great pizza and a cheap happy hour and decided to check it out. This restaurant is a really cool concept and is really 2 restaurants in one. When you walk in you can go to the right and sit at tables and the bar for the pizza side or on the left is a Larry's giant sub. You can order from both restaurants at the tables too. I really liked this option because it pleases everyone in your party. We ordered a bunch of different apps to start. The wings are phenomenal! They are smoked and fall off the bone delicious! We also got a caprese salad which was super fresh. We also got an order of fries and cheese curds, both were amazing! We decided on a meat lovers pizza and the white pizza for dinner (yes I realize this is a lot of food). WOW the pizza was like nothing I had every had before. Typically, I don't eat a lot of carbs, they make me feel bloated and super stuffed. I was SHOCKED at how light the pizza was and how fresh everything tasted. I found out that they actually fly in water from NY and had someone from Italy come help them with their recipe. I left wanting more of the pizza! We took home a couple of slices and they were just as good cold as they were the night before. The happy hour prices were really good and my boyfriend loved the amount of TV's there so he could watch all the March Madness games. I loved how the attentive everyone was there, we were checked on multiple time by the staff and management and it was nice to see the management staff walking around, talking to people and helping to clean tables.
