Great food, piping hot. Busy but they are well-staffed and the food was prepared quickly and of high quality.

Sadly my love for Firehouse Subs has come to a sudden, unexpected end. My boyfriend and I were asked to leave and not come back by a supervisor who has seen us in there several times since they opened, so she knows we are loyal, long-time customers. (Note: This goes along with Philip A's review from the same day.) Since the soda machine is not operational during covid time, the only drink options are canned sodas and bottled water. Since we have the constant looming of covid on our brains, we would rather not drink from a can or bottle. We don't know where it has been, who has handled it, and whether or not it has been washed. Between my boyfriend and I, we have visited this store at least 5 times this summer, and each time we asked for a straw since the dispenser is no longer on the counter. Each time we have been told that they have paper-wrapped straws they can give us, if that's OK with us. Paper-wrapped? That's even better!! Yes please! On tonight's visit we asked for straws and the supervisor, who overheard us chimed in telling us they don't have straws. She told us they packed them up and put them away back in March and we can't have one. We explained that we had been offered paper-wrapped straws all summer. She said we couldn't have, because they don't have any straws. She kept going back and forth between saying there were no straws and the straws have been packed away since March and she's not going to go in the back to get them for us. She said The City mandates that they can't give out straws if the soda machine is inoperable. We explained that we don't want to drink out of the can because we don't know if they have been washed off, or who has touched it. Her voice kept getting louder and louder until she was yelling at us. When we asked how we are supposed to know if the cans were cleaned before they were put in the cooler, her reply was "That's on you. We are not responsible." At that point we asked why they take precautions to wear gloves and masks to handle the food and make the sandwiches, but we can't get the same level of safety with the drinks by letting us use a straw. She said that sandwiches are food and drinks aren't. I asked if we could have cups instead. She gave me one, but didn't get one out for my boyfriend until I asked for a second one. She made a point to tell us that she isn't supposed to give us cups, either, although she did. Once we received our food, we headed for the door on the door at the opposite end of the store. Just as I opened the door, she yelled in a rude, condescending tone for everyone to hear "If you have a problem with Covid, then you shouldn't be out at our store!" We were stunned and stopped in our tracks. We both turned back to face her and said "Excuse me? You can't say that!" She said "I sure can, now get out of my store." We stood for a brief moment in disbelief and she yelled at us repeatedly to get out of her store, and that we can't come back. We left and went outside to eat at the tables, while jotting down notes as we recalled what had just happened. When we finished eating, I realized there was no garbage can outside. I did not want to leave our bag of garbage on the table. I noticed that the other customers had all taken their garbage to the can just inside the door. I was concerned that if I went back inside to throw away the garbage, she may cause a scene and maybe even call the police at that point since she kicked us out and banned us from the store. At that time and employee had taken the trash out to the dumpster. When he returned I politely said "Excuse me. Since we are banned from going inside, would you be able to take our trash in since there is nowhere for us to throw it away?" I had it neatly bagged up, and had cleaned off the table. He walked right by us and became strangely stiff and refused to look at me. This was the same employee who had helped us many times in the past and we had no issues. Now he wouldn't even acknowledge that I was speaking to him. He raced back inside. A few minutes later I decided to get up, go inside and throw the garbage away. I was so worried about what may happen, that I asked my boyfriend to video me going in just in case there is a scene and the police were called. Luckily she was in the back room and didn't see me come in. We did nothing wrong. We are now banned from returning. We have been loyal customers of this store since it opened. It was our go-to place whenever we were going to stop and eat while we were out and about. When shelter-in-place happened, we switched to Door Dash orders from here. We are so disappointed that 1) we are no longer welcome there after all of the business we have given them, and brought to them with our referrals; 2) they don't care about their customers and it is "on us" to protect ourselves from potential contamination of their products; 3) we were expendable. read more

I went in to firehouse subs Sunday to order a sandwich. Two weeks ago I tried to order on line but the wait was over an hour. Today there were about six people inside and 4 or 5 workers. All of the customers were keeping social distance and wore masks. The workers all had masks with one exception! One young man, who also appeared to be high, had his mask in his chin. I nicely mentioned it to him and he scoffed! Not a word that I use very often. He mumbled something and turned away to do something on the back counter. He turned back and still no mask on his face. I mentioned it again and he shook his head. The person at he register, manager maybe, told him to put it on. Me action. Again the cashier asked him to put it in...he said "please"... Politeness is good but this situation called for someone to be in charge. He finally reached up, WITH A BARE HAND, and pulled his mask up over his nose. Then he continued to package sandwiches. He was handling and giving out every order! He did not have gloves in and he did not wash or sanitize his hands after touching his face. I can't give any review of the food because I walked out. I will not be back. I like the food and I have been a weekly customer since this location opened. Never again. read more

I have been a fan of Firehouse's sandwiches for a long time. However, this location has consistently let me down. Whenever I've gone in to order I have had to sit and wait over 30 minutes for my sandwich to be made so I've started ordering online for pickup. That's worked out until last night. My wife and I ordered online and it was fine. Got our food when we arrived. The sandwiches tasted fine. But a few hours later I started feeling sick and have been up ever since with food poisoning. My wife didn't finish her entire sandwich and is feeling the same symptoms to a lesser degree. I have a feeling we won't be back for a while. read more

I had the grilled chicken salad and it was disappointing. If the chicken was grilled, it sure didn't look like it and the chicken that was in the salad was cubed so small, you can hardly see it. This spot has become one of my family's favorite sandwich shops in the area. They have large sandwiches that four of us could split for$12-$13. I don't know why this happens but the bottom bun often gets soggy by the time we get home, but other than that the food is delicious. I take my son here once a week. But 2 weeks ago my daughter wanted to redeem her free Birthday sandwich and the Manager was rude to my 15 year old. She was extremely petty and left a bad taste in my mouth. She scolded my daughter and made her feel stupid. Not knowing that she is dyslexic. Where to begin..out of convenience, I stop by maybe once a month. I am a veteran when it comes to asking for no mayo on sandwiches that have no business having mayo in the first place (the firehouse version of a philly cheese steak, for example), but am still quite shocked as they NEVER HAVE CHILI ready! And btw, your chili is great (better than the sandwiches, in my opinion). I could stop in at 6pm, or 7pm, or even 8pm, all far in advance of closing hours. Yet every time - NO CHILI. Sometimes I can wait the 8 minutes it takes to heat up, sometimes I can't. But the reality is, you advertise this as one of your top items. We came here for lunch and it was pretty busy, but we got our food within 20 minutes so not bad of a wait. Sandwiches were tasty- I got the turkey bacon ranch and honestly I like anything with bacon so I enjoyed it. The bread was toasted with just the right crunch and the ranch sauce was light and spread generously in the sandwich. I'm only giving 3 stars because of the price- a small sandwich is only 4 inches and it costs $6. A medium is $10 and a large sandwich is $13 (prices are even higher for other kinds of sandwiches). Decided to finally give Firehouse Subs a chance tonight for dinner as my wife and I were cruising around. Boy did we wish we had gone somewhere else. I ordered a Turkey Bacon Ranch sandwich with lettuce only, ranch dressing on the side. Pretty easy order right? I specifically said no pickle. I tried ordering a small ($6.99) and the guy (looked to be a manager or owner, possibly Ritesh) at the cash wrap said it was only a 4 in sandwich. The medium is $10.99, but the small wasn't going to be enough so I ordered a medium. My wife ordered a small philly cheesesteak with no mayo or mustard. When the sandwiches came out mine had a pickle touching the bread (I am allergic to pickles), and no dressing on the side. My wife's cheesesteak had a some cheese and almost zero steak (like 4 tiny pieces), and the bread was soggy like it had been sitting waiting for her to order it. I went to the cash wrap and approached the manager. I asked him if this was the amount of steak that normally comes on the sandwich. He looked at me like I was speaking another language. I repeated my question. Same dead stare so I asked him to make us a new one with more steak. He looked at one of his workers and said make me a new philly. I went and sat down and after a minute or two my wife said to me, "I bet you $100 bucks it comes out with mustard and mayo." By that time it was too late to try to correct them. Part of me wanted to see if the manager/owner had the wherewithal to remember our order from 10 minutes earlier. He did not. I had to request a refund for her sandwich. If the manager had any business sense he would have apologize profusely and refunded the entire meal. He did neither and here we are, me telling all of you exactly how Firehouse Subs runs their business and makes sandwiches. Funny side note, the manger did not know how to process the refund so he had to call Lisa, the other manger, on the phone to walk him through it. So you have manager that doesn't know what he is doing and workers who don't know how to read the slip that says no pickle and dressing on the side. The empty tables and chairs were clean, and the floor was free of debris. We love the firehouse theme, and support fire fighters. Above all that, the food was delicious. I also ordered the Firehouse special M $10.29 n added a soda n brownie for another $3.39. If I didn't get the brownie n get a bag of chip, it would be $2.89 instead of $3.39. The Vacaville location, San Jose location, and Fremont location is BOMB! Best damn sandwich we have ever had...no joke. This place puts Subway and Togo's to shame! Their meat is tender and fresh...sauce pairings are delicious...veggie selection is mmmmmm and don't even get me started on those damn delicious pickles. Whoa nelly... brace yourselves for a meal... Customer service is amazing, seriously. Prices are a pinch higher, but you get what you pay for so try not to let that detour you. They have sweet tea... First of all let me say that this location was clean and the employees were second to none. My issue is with the sandwich which is the BBQ Beef brisket and cheddar. I see some people giving this sandwich five stars and my question is what are you comparing it to? Have you had a prime rib sandwich from adamson's in Sunnyvale? Have you had real barbecue brisket from a barbecue restaurant? This sandwich was terrible! It tasted like Buddig roast beef that cost $0.79 at the store. Covering it with barbecue sauce and a slice of cheddar cheese doesn't mask the fact that the meat is inferior. I'm dying!! So good!!!! My fiancé and I tried out this place today and were expecting average sandwiches uplifted by awesome hot sauce tasting, and we were all wrong! I can't begin to explain how delicious these sandwiches were, perfectly toasted bread with thinly sliced gourmet meats- and they weren't stingy! Good sandwich the meat was deli cut and super tender. I got the Turkey chile verde that was under 500 calories and was very tasty and filling. We always wanted to try this place, so tonight we finally did. We walked in and ordered an Engineer and Jerk Turkey and instead I got a pastrami sandwich and we can't confirm the jerk turkey since it didn't taste any seasoning. The pastrami didn't even have the lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Just a lot of mayonnaise and cheese. I was looking forward to the sautéed mushrooms in the Engineer.. :( The cashier was really nice, and took our order right, I think... we didn't get a receipt either to verify it. We ordered the Mac and cheese, but was later notified we'd have to wait 15 minutes for it, so we got the got the potato chicken soup instead. We were the only ones there, but I can only assume he wade us somebody's to go order and handed it to us (he called our name and gave us the bag) and that somebody else is going to end up with our sandwiches... and pickles... While waiting in line today for my sub I saw that the only person wearing the mask properly was the person standing behind the cash register. All the people preparing food had their masks pulled down under their nose so they could be possibly contaminating all the food that they are serving today. When I brought this nicely to somebody's attention the gal making my sandwich yelled at me and told me she couldn't breathe and wasn't going to wear it over her nose I just kindly informed her thar she should take the mask off because she wasn't doing anyone any good she then yelled back and said she wasn't going to do it.
