I'm torn because my sister loves this place, but every single time I've been here the service is ridiculously slow. Today was no different. After waiting 20 min, we still didn't have our drinks. I finally asked the host for our drinks and he got them within a min. The waitress was unapologetic. When we asked if we can order our food, she got very defensive as to her lack of service. She told us that the kitchen was backed up, even before we had the chance to order. We had our drinks and asked for our check. No way were we going to sit there for another half an hour just to order our food. read more

This was so horrifying that I won't even give it ONE star! Short version: after waiting 2+ hours (and yes, we did drink but ONLY b/c we weren't getting food!) we still had no food, no explanation, no apology and ATTITUDE from the manager! She never even acknowledged the issue until WE went to get her and after offhandedly mentioning that the ticket got lost, she checked out. We only got compensated b/c we just FLAT refused to pay for the crappy service and lack of concern. I suggest a quick brush up on 'Customer service 101'...ASAP! This is a great place. It was my first time. The food was amazing, great portions, appropriate pricing, and delicious food. The service was above and beyond. I had the bbq chicken pizza, Buffalo Cauliflower, and a chicken pasta. My wife and I was happy to try this place. Plus outside seating is available. Bonus especially during these times. My friend lives in the area here and when we decided to meet up somewhere she suggested this place. She said that it had pretty good food and a pretty good beer selection. The day was nice so I wanted so sit outside which wasn't a big deal, the bartender just transferred our tab out to the back patio. Did I mention that they poured Stone Arrogant Bastard on tap? Well, they do and as my friend said, completely appropriate for me. The back patio was nicely shaded and and comfortable. The soup I had was their special, Chicken Hominy which I thought was really good. A nice twist on chicken noodle , with the hominy bringing a nice texture. I had their Lemon Pepper Chicken breast which is a pretty nice healthy option and I got double veggies no problem. Back porch service was okay, a little slow. We finished up but we waited and waited for our server to come back and eventually we had to get the other server to get our check for us and then had to hand it to someone to run it. I Love the Fireside. They have Great Food including the Ribs and the Prime Rib. Also I am a man of modest beer tastes and while they have large selection they Carry the one beer I love to drink Red Stripe. If you want to go out on a Holiday this is the spot to be at. read more

Very upset with how we were told we have to leave because they have dinner reservation coming in. Also we are paying customers and we were still ordering food and drinks. Allison G was our server... from the beginning we can tell she didn't want to deal with us. She barely came to our table. Our burgers were way over cooked and she didn't bother to even care when mentioned to her. It took almost 30 minutes to get another pitcher of beer at our table. Very rude person along with the manager. We will never go there again. Especially spending our money , and getting treated that way. I love this place. They have the best ribs in town. I have been to this place over 10 times and never got a chance to give them a review. Great staff, great service, great food. Open till the wee hours of the morn. This is the first time I thought I would try some different entrees. Not disappointed!! We started with a calamari appetizer and the grilled chicken fajita. I had the fillet minion, cooked medium, while my better 1/2 had the lemon pepper chicken. That's all I have to say, the best. You gotta go, worth it!! read more

I think in the future, when I have a nagging voice in the back of my head that says "BAD IDEA!", I'm going to stop and listen. Our friend suggested we head over for dinner the other day. I vaguely recall eating here when I was in my late teens/early 20s and I also vaguely recall not thinking it was spectacular. However, I'd like to think my taste buds have matured and that I'm always willing to give a place a second chance... so I agreed. We were seated right away on the left restaurant side of the place. Our waitress was helpful when my dude was picking a beer. I ordered the cream of portabella mushroom soup to start... and oh my stars... it was dreamy. Delicious. I could have swam in a portabella mushroom soup lake and been the happiest woman alive. I really, really love a good soup. I LIVE for a really, really good soup. This one was special. However... my entree hurt my feelings. I went with the fish and chips off the specials list and it was just... awful. Clearly commercially prepared and simply thrown in the fryer. The centers of the filets weren't fried enough which left them mushy and gross. The dish came with a side of "daily vegetables" which was a pile of bland, tasteless cooked baby carrots. Fish and chips has been a recent pregnancy craving of mine and after wasting $14 on a terrible version here, I now continue my quest to feed the crispy fish hunger. Will I be back? Possibly. If someone said to meet them here I'd do it. But I definitely will not initiate a return engagement. Unless they sell gallons of that mushroom soup to go and in which case, I'll put them on my speed dial. That soup alone saved this from being a two star review. read more

I've been eating at Fireside since about 1986, when my HS boyfriend took me on my first date. It has changed over the years and my family has enjoyed it for brunch and family gatherings. However lately when we place an order for delivery, our order is always wrong. This time my husband went to pick it up the food order since there was over an hour wait time for delivery. As we unpack our dinner from the containers, I noticed we got some else's order. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager Katherine, who she gave me a credit but now I'm left hungry. I'm very disappointed again. This is not the first time we got the wrong or missing food items. read more

When I first came across this place I was just driving down Ravenswood which is a side street. There is another two places also just down the street and this area is now a being built up. It's kinda weird becuse they are right across the street from a cemetary and the train tracks are right there for Metra. The food itself is good and it's served in a cozy atmosphere. There is a seperate bar area also. I know they have been here for years. The last time I stopped in the server had quite an attitude. What a waitress with an attitude, how shocking I know. Was at dinner with my sisters. First time in the Fireside in years. If I could give no stars I would. First, they were out of 2 different guns for a martini. I had to settle for what they had. I ordered a New York Strip and they were out of that. Order a medium filet which was served very rare. I could tell the steak was frozen because it was charred on the outside and very rare on it inside and NO juice. The potato was not fully cooked. Sent the steak back but was still rare. The night ended with a roach crawling on my sisters leg. Needless to say I will never return to the Fireside. It use to be a good fun place. read more

THEY WERE KNOWN FOR THEIR CHICKEN, BUT NOT ANYMORE, THEY SHOULD CALL THEM CORNISH HENS.... ordered a steak and the chicken, the steak was average, the chicken burnt to a crisp, and tiny....mashed potatoes came out cold, and the veggies were bagged the home freezer kind....sent the potatoes back to warm up, and munched on the chicken removing the burnt skin...not what it used to be...and ordered salads, as an extra on their menu, and naturally, they overchared...6 for each salad, when the menu said2.50, so they beat me out of 7 bucks. just disappointing for a place that used to be good. the only good part is the backyard outdoor space that is heated in the winter. other than that, don't go for the food..for what they charge--figure at least 50/person for dinner, one drink....the quality should be better, but sadly, it is not. good space, just the food is not up to snuff anymore read more

This used to be one my favourite places- Two years ago, this was my take out/delivery spot. Perfect-god-damn burgers. This past September I finally ate inside. The food was forgettable and my Bloody Mary tasted like water. I wasn't too mad. I was like maybe it's better as a take out place. Fast forward to last month.... We ordered delivery via grubhub for a movie night (just me and my man). We each ordered a burger as well as some wings. We were watching a horror movie (JeruZialem), horrible movie. Anyway, we had the lights out to try to make the film a bit better. My boyfriend thought his burger tastes a bit strange but mine was delicious. He told me his stomach hurt so we turned on the light so I could get him so Tums. He looked at his burger and it was raw... I ate rare and this wasn't even close to rare. He threw out his burger and we continued watching the film, vowing to not order there again. Two hours later, I was in the bathroom (going number two) when suddenly he knocks on the door which isn't like him. He said he had to use the bathroom and I said I'd try to hurry up. Anyway, I got out of the bathroom and there he was in the kitchen. I found the poor guy trying to clean vomit off the walls, floor and sink. I had him go back to bed and spent half an hour hand scooping vomit out of the sink. They get two stars because I thought the onion rings were nice. But ... Outstanding place to come for Drinks and Fantastic food cooked to perfection ! Been coming here over 30 years and it still has the best Calamari in town ! Absolutely delicious and always a great staff to meet your request as needed !!! Very warm and inviting place to have a great time and watch Sports ! Plus they have a great patio to sit out on as well ! The Breakfast Brunch on the weekends is always good and I highly recommend their absolutely delicious mash potatos and meatloaf :-) but every thing is so so mmmmmmm !!!!!!!! There's a very beautiful Fireplace in the dinning area, that would be very romantic to bring your better half too as well !!!!! Come see for yourself and you will love it ! it has really good atmosphere but.... everything else is so so... The service was slow, the food was reeeeaaaaalllly slow. Also came out wrong.... didn't even get a discount on the wrong food... the whole dinner took us an hour and 30 minutes and the eating was only 10 minutes. The rest was just endless waiting. Waiting to place order, waiting for the order, waited an hour for the food that came out wrong :/ in all honesty it did not even taste good. Should have just ate at the farmer's market. It's also funny the guy that came about an hr after we did got all of his food before we did not sure if they are just mean to our waitress of she just didn't put in the order right. read more

Very sad dissatisfied disappointment. The way they handle and cook. My order was mess up. I order the pork chop, they were not cook well as soon as cut a piece pink between, I told them you have too cook this again. Had to wait another 10 mint. No flavor at all dry this pork chop pretty sure they microwave it. To cook it again. No flavor. Know here gets worst the vegetables no season just boil and there it is. Truly ashamed first what I spend and this was a very special occasion. Really this restaurant needs to improve the quality of this cooking there food. We came here a year ago and the food was great, yesterday I brought my family here who was visiting from out of town and it was some of the worst food I've ever eaten. I ordered the "build your own smoked Gouda Mac and cheese." What arrived to the table was macaroni (that was still hard in spots) smothered in liquid cheese product, like crappy nacho cheese style, with a pinch of shredded Gouda in the middle. Sorry, but charging $13 for that garbage should be illegal. My mom ordered a salad that came complete with a dirty string mixed into it. So gross. I will never return. read more

Probably violated hospital policy by wearing our uniforms,but we got plenty of free drinks and sparked more than one debate about naughty nurses. Came here for dining during covet, I'll give this place one star for a nice atmosphere outdoor seating in front and tented, send me outdoor seating in the back. Unfortunately the food itself only earns one additional star. Everything was extremely subpar. From the standard Burger, which I thought they couldn't mess up, which had the land onions and mushrooms, and was missing two of the key ingredients to the Fireside chicken sandwich which was supposed to be crispy fried chicken and was instead soggy breaded chicken. Everything was pretty bad. It's a big shame because with an atmosphere and space like that it could be a good spot to enjoy dining out during covid-19 but we definitely will not return. read more

Yet another place that I dig with a dual personality. Actually a little Sybilish to say the least. Great weekend brunch spot. Decent pizza and delivery service. Awesome soups. Nice back yard ( not a patio when the roof is always on sorry folks) and odd late night neighborhood drinking establishment. I've always enjoyed the food, actually decent steaks, good ribs and pizza but sometimes the service is just odd. I don't mean not regular service, I mean someone singing Eagles greatest hits in the bus station and "spacing" on our order when we were one of the few tables there. Awesome: 1. Their anchovie pizza. They don't skimp on the anchovies, like most places that serve anchovies seem to do. Here there is no reluctance to make you the saltiest, tongue swelling, most eye puffing pizza EVER! I was so thirsty in the middle of the night that I drank a quart of milk - with Ovaltine. mmmmmmmmmm. Yum. I had the anchovie pizza twice this week, and I want more. (but maybe without the quart of Ovaltine). 2. Ive driven past this place about a dozen times after my basketball intramural games but never noticed it....My friend brought me here the other day and let me tell you I'm a fan....They've got a great outdoor enclosed section in the back with an arbor and tent over it...very nicely set up....
