Atmosphere/Ambiance - 5/5 - Located next to Scheels at Grandscape, it has a great indoor and outdoor appeal. There is a surfing area, and in the Spring/Summer, it gives a nice breeze. Staff - 5/5 - Friendly and attentive. Was sitting outside and made sure that we were taken care of. Food/Drink - Ordered the following: Fireside Sliders - 5/5 - The gouda on these bad boys are great. Highly recommend. Flatbread - 4/5 - Nothing too special, but great for the kiddos. Duck Duck Burger - 5/5 - The DUCK bacon on this burger is EXCELLENT, in addition to the burger itself. We ate here last weekend on a beautiful sunny afternoon. There are two different areas to sit upstairs at the bar and then downstairs along the water's patio. The upstairs overlooks the surfing area and it took us away from feeling like we were in the colony. So, as far as a scenic overlook goes, it is unique in the north Texas area. For food, we tried a couple of different things, and the menu is definitely a step above your normal bar food or even casual restaurant food. The beat hummus was great, the assortment of veggies was unique and not the norm, and the pita bread was warm and fresh. We also ordered the fig pizza, which was delicious. Since we were there for cocktails, we kept things light, so we all split the venison tacos, which come two to a serving. They were a little light as an entrée, but we were there for the cocktails, right? So, five stars for the food, creativity, presentation, and options. They have a pretty big drink menu and options for beers. I would probably recommend that they look into their tap refrigerator because it's going to get a workout during the summer months. I like my beer really cold, and it could've used few degrees less when served in plastic glasses. I would also tell the staff to remind guests not to touch the bottom of the glass because it uses the tap and keg system where it fills the glass from the bottom I accidentally put my fingerinto the where the plug is and it dumped beer all over the table - rookie mistake! My only advice would be to consider the weather when you go. The upstairs does have some tables with gas fire pits and some heaters above; however, if you're sitting out around the edge, which we were, you may want to consider something to wear when the sun goes down on the cooler. Likewise, if you're out there during the middle of the summer, you might want to bring a hat, as those outdoor edges did not have umbrellas. I'm sure this place will be hopping now that the weather has turned nice. Regarding bathrooms, the upstairs patio has a shared one-seater, which seems to be a little bit of an afterthought as there is probably seating for about 30 people up there. We eventually found the larger bathrooms, which are down on the deck by the water, and the locker rooms, where people change to get into their swimwear. I would definitely recommend going down there if you're sitting upstairs. We meet one of the owners. He's a special forces ranger from Hawaii. It's super fun and great experience. But couple of thing to follow. When they just open, everything was very organized, the trainer paid more attention and people line up in sequence every session. But later on in the summer, when more expert came, they start to jump in the water whenever they want and break the line. I think they should have more different session, not just 1st time and all levers, but separate 1st time, beginner, all level and expert. Also when the session (40 min) has more than 4 people it start to be not worth the money you pay. You have to love a good surf venue when you are hundreds to thousand of miles from the coast. I have been to the venue several times to surf and it is a new challenge to master and it is going slowly but practice makes perfect. For food I have had the Breakfast Burrito twice. The fruit cup as the side is full of more exotic fruits like kiwi or passion fruit and apples and blueberries and strawberries. It is really great unique fruits and one of the best fruit sides i have had. The burrito is packed full of meat and other ingredients like guacamole. I would say while it is a small full burrito it packs a lot of flavor. I did attend the tidal wave Tuesday and they were serving pancakes and they were so good everyone i have been back i ask my same waitress if i can get the pancakes off menu. The pancakes were really flavorful and perfect. In the top 5 of pancakes and then add in the brûléed bananas on top and it was a huge win and will have to go back on weekend brunch to get them again! We stopped in for a drink and light meal after seeing a movie at Galaxy theatre. We ordered a Kona Big Wave because it felt weird not to while watching surfing on the FlowRider. We also ordered: 1. Brussels and shishito peppers: good flavor and the Fresno peppers added were the perfect amount of spice. 2. Vegan Buddha bowl: colorful and flavorful. We are looking forward to getting this again. We also added the honey glazed tofu, which we would not choose again as the flavors didn't agree with our palate. Done whip: absolute great choice, will be getting this every time we stop in. Initially, I was displeased when they served me a Mai Tai with tequila and instead of rum. However, they replaced my drink with a new drink and I'm all smiles. The food? Absolutely amazing. The concept? So cool! The atmosphere? So chill. Love the tropical vibes with the reggae music and island-influenced silverware. The only downside was the absurdly slow service. Our server did not check on us, and it took 15 minutes to even be greeted. We had been there for an hour and 10 minutes by the time we got our food, which was rough considering we had two young children in tow. Even if the kitchen was behind, it would've been courteous for the server to relay that information and keep us in the loop. Outstanding everything...go, you can't go wrong! The small staff works hard...wait times might be a little long, but that's because they don't serve bar food. They have an incredible menu that fits well with the resort-like atmosphere. So fun to watch new surfers stoked to successfully navigate their first waves and experienced surfers rip back and forth effortlessly. I've never seen surfing from this close before and it gives me confidence that I might be able to learn! My favorite dish was the Tropical Tuna Poke Bowl...SOOOO fresh and delicious. I tried the Buenaveza on draft...haven't seen it anywhere else and it might be my new favorite beer! We are headed back Friday for the after dark thing with the DJ...sounds like a really cool vibe. My sister is bringing her kiddo in the morning to do the ages 4 and up boogie boarding on Saturday morning. When I think Hawaiian I think bright flavors while remaining healthy. I will give the menu a note on the healthy part, but the flavor was not there at all. I had the tumeric chicken kebab. First, the menu said multiple tenders and I received one. It tasted like it was grilled with no seasoning whatsoever. Incredibly disappointing. My friends ordered a burger and the avocado wrap and they were disappointed as well. The appetizers were decent. My friend also got a Mai Tai which was so "spirit forward" you couldn't taste any of the mixers. Interestingly, I asked about several of the drinks and was told pretty much all of them were "spirit forward" which again seemed odd... because Hawaiian. Full disclosure they're still in their soft opening phase but I've been several times. My first two trips were just to observe the surf activity. After watching a group of first-timers of all ages, I went home and purchased a set of sessions so I could try it myself. At the time of this review I still haven't summoned the courage to try it but I will. I think the idea of looking like an idiot in front of a crowd is the only thing holding me back. Even if I suck at it, I think it's going to be a blast trying. Now let's dive into the island inspired menu. OMG it's been a fantastic journey of discovery. The menu is full of tacos, wraps and burgers BUT it's the ingredients and flavor combos that elevate these plates in a way that has yet to disappoint. You can tell everything was carefully curated. For example, the fruit side dish is normally a throwaway IMO. Most places serve flavorless melons, grapes, maybe a strawberry or two. The fruit options at Fireside are epic! Star fruit, citrus, mango... there had to be over half a dozen or more premium fruits all freshly presented. Over the course of two meals my group has tried the avocado falafel wrap, fish tacos, big kahuna, burger, sliders, venison tacos and Dole Whip Sundae and it's been two thumbs up all around. Even the side salad goes beyond the norm. All Dining is outdoors with great views of the wave. Service has been polite but they're still getting their groove - hence the soft opening so my review isn't focused on this aspect of the experience. Bottom line, try it! It's worth grabbing a meal at the very least. Just keep in mind they get slammed at peak times so I recommend cooking a reservation. read more

Our group of 10 stumbled upon this place right when they opened and the owners stepped up and took care of us! Love the vibe! The Bloody Mary is spicy and addictive, draft beer selection is great. We didn't try any food because we had to run but got to watch a couple groups of kids in the surf. So cool to have this surf bar in landlocked DFW! It is entirely outdoor seating so just in case you weren't aware, factor in the weather, but they have a significant amount of different covered seating options. I got the fish tacos, excellent. Really good flavor between the crema and the pico, only negative I could list is they're messy, but some of that is due to healthy portions! Wife got the Maui Wowie chicken sandwich and she was happy. I managed to get a bite and chicken was tender and juicy and bun was great, was maybe a little lighter on flavor for my own preference, but I feel like this is intended to be a healthier option. The hostess stand was in disarray. They were unorganized and there were 3 of them trying to figure things out. Then we got seated, and no one came to our table for 15-20 mins. No one. There were empty glasses and dirty plates everywhere on tables too. Very cool employees tho and super friendly. Food looked decent. Y'all, you need to get some efficiency down and some organization. The burger was excellent and very large and the macadamia nut bowl was filled with tender chicken, fresh fruit, crisp greens and a delicious dressing. Food was good, atmosphere was great, drinks were "meh". Our server was excellent and we were fortunate enough to get a table right next to the wave pool. A hip beachy vibe with good music and plenty of highly entertaining activity to watch and enjoy. The surf pool is small, but it gets the job done for a wet ride in Plano. If they were slightly more generous with the cocktails, or a little quicker with the bar service, I would give it 5 stars. read more

The bar manger and female server with the short wavy hair are some of the Rudest I've ever met in customer service. The bar manger speaks rudely to customers, and the employees, doesn't even greet customers, keeps his head down while speaking. He chastised a young female employee right in front of us over counting the register at the end of her shift, it appeared . We could not believe how arrogant and rude this guy was in front of customers. The lady with the short wavy hair doesn't greet, no smile seems unhappy , never collected our money for the "Togo order" even after we received the food. We had to tell her we haven't paid , she takes the $100 bill for a $45.22 meal, she hands back the bills without counting it back, and walks away. She kept the change, the customers sitting next to us noticed what happened and said That's Theft! We called the server over and asked for the change we were shorted, she had no response just opened the register to get the change and handed to us. No apology. This is probably a regular occurrence. I would advise everyone to count your change. This could be a very nice establishment but the manager and staffer will ruin this business before it even opens fully! Very disappointing. read more

I love the concept and would have loved to work here; however, the social media manager of this company is very rude and unprofessional. I have applied twice. The first time I submitted an application through indeed and never heard back so reached out via social media where the social media manager told me to go to the store at a specific time. I went in and waited over an hour outside in 100 degree weather for someone only to be told the position was already filled and that I would hear back when a position opened. The second time I applied I never heard back either and reached out via social media. I was told the position was filled even though it's still listed on indeed to be able to apply to... to date. I asked why my application was being denied / not even looked at twice... and this is the response I was given "We are very busy and if we had conversations with every person about this we wouldn't run a business" and "I can tell you this. A company is not required by law to tell you why you weren't hired." Not only this they keep deleting my reviews. Guess what.... I'm a social media manager for a company and we would never treat potential clientele this way because we wouldn't get any business. Also I have a degree in business management and Human Resources management. So I know for a fact the way I am being treated is incorrect and unprofessional. Run your business better. read more
