The manager and the owner of Firestone(the one in Durham off hwy55 and headquarters in Tennessee) are nothing but money hungry individuals that will do ANYTHING to protect themselves even when they are at fault!! When I say ANYTHING I literally mean it! Trust me I would say more, but I'm not able to discuss in full details what's going on right now. I will say make sure that you cover yourself by making sure that you keep every form off document on things that WORKED on your car for proof. Without it they will LIE!!! I'll also say this thank God for Jesus who is watching over me. He knows what they have done to my car and myself and refuse to pay, but vengeance is the Lord's!!! Beware, the guys at the front desk will not explain things, you have to interrogate them before you get a clear answer as to cost and what you are getting. Also, appointment at 2pm, car wasn't in port until 3pm (even though there was 4 open car ports) I was told I needed new tires (which I knew) and I didn't leave until about 6pm, all this for a state car inspection. Was so frustrated, I left without realizing they didn't give me a receipt, now I have to go back so I can get a receipt so I can send it in to get the promo rebate. Don't go here, go to your friendly neighborhood locally owned shop, there's some good ones here on yelp. Lesson learned. read more

I went in to have my tires rotated, but also the place I got an oil change had told me I need new front brakes. I went there and told them I needed new brake pads, and they showed me where my pads were still good. When was the last time an auto place actually said you did NOT need extra work?? My partner and I took our cars in for oil changes. My car has 45k miles on it. I was told that the car needed new tires, fluids flushed, a battery and other repairs totaling several hundred dollars. Since I had inspected my tires and didn't see that level of wear and the the car was otherwise running well I just stuck with the oil change. They said my partner's (93k) also needed four new tires and a new brake master cylinder. Apparently the brake pedal went to the floor and they could barely stop the car when they pulled it into the shop. This has never happened to her. The price for the brake work was very high and we could not find a comparable estimate on the Internet to justify what they were quoting. When she declined the repairs, the mechanic was very concerned that her car wasn't safe to drive in this condition. Nevertheless, she did decline the repairs and immediately took the car to a trusted repair shop for inspection. The brakes worked fine. The new mechanics couldn't find any problems with the brakes. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. The car did need new tires but the reason they did was not detected by Firestone at all. Don't know why Firestone had such terrible problems stopping her car and why they didn't recommend new shocks (the reason the car needed tires). I honestly resent their constant upselling. I took my son's car in a few months ago and got the same treatment -- hundreds of dollars of repairs based on their "free" inspection. One more thing, I got a synthetic oil oil change. The sticker on the windshield said the next oil change was due in 3,000 miles. This is about half the recommended interval for a standard oil change. When I asked the Firestone salesperson how long synthetic oil change should last he just pulled a number out of his butt (5,000 miles) instead of giving me an honest/professional answer. To me this is typical of the kind of service I've gotten here -- pulled out of their butt. On reflection I think I was unfair about the tires. My partner's car did need tires and I guess suggesting that mine needed them as well was a judgement call. But you should note that they are a tire company so their recommendation is colored by that. read more

I have been going to Firestone since the purchase of my vehicle. They mostly keep it real with their customers. They don't force anything on you, and the Manager Antoine is wonderful. He makes you feel like your business is important. He makes sure problems are handled correctly (which you don't get many of those here). Antoine, even recommended me to a Transmission shop for a $300 problem on my car. I love Firestone's work ethics, their customer appreciation, their courteousness, they are worth recommending. Don't go here if you need to get out right away. If someone works on your car too fast, you may later question it. read more

Friendly and competent. I work close to there and they are glad to drop me off at work if they aren't too busy while my car is being serviced. They are a tiny bit aggressive on the upsell but back off quickly if you say no. The main downside is that they are EXTREMELY busy. Get in really early or have an appointment or you can expect even a simple service to take hours. read more

The worst customer service experience I've had with any Firestone. I dropped my car off at 7:52 a.m. and requested to have the vehicle done by 2 p.m. I drove by at 2:30 p.m. and my car was still in the air without tires. I call to get an estimate at that time and was told it would be 30 mins. I come back over an hour after that call and is my car ready or almost ready? Absolutely not! Do I have things to do? Of course. Will I spend any more money at Firestone? Heck no and you shouldn't either. read more

I had such a great experience with this Firestone. I've went to the one on Duke St. two weekends in a row and never had my problem resolved. I ended up getting a service that wasn't even necessary. These guys are professional and timely. They even took the time to see if I had a warranty on my battery and saved me money. Such a big difference from my previous experience at other locations. I got my tires replaced here last and was helped by a very friendly guy named Brad. He sold me on getting their Road Hazard protection which I was a bit apprehensive about at first. It was about $40. A year later I was thanking Brad for talking me into it when I got a flat which was irreparable. It cost only about $16 to replace the tire thanks to the protection. I've gotten oil changes here as well and the service has been he fastest I've ever got at any auto shop Ive been to. I asked about a problem with my AC for which they gave me honest advice. They are pretty friendly and efficient here, I recommend it. read more

I've been coming to Firestone for the last three years to get my oil changed and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I like the fact that I can make my appointment online and I've never had a problem with the process. This place stays super busy so my advice to you is if you're going to wait for your vehicle book an earlier appointment. The service takes around an hour but they also check your vehicle out and let you know up front what issues they found and the cost. Their price points are reasonable and an oil change will set you back $40 BUT if you look on their website you can find a coupon so you only pay $24 total. The waiting area isn't bad and they have a few comfy chairs and a TV to pass the time. These people take the pain out of a process I don't enjoy and I would recommend their oil change service. read more

Dropped off my wife's car to have $39.95 air conditioning checkup done. When it was determined that they could not repair the problem not only were they honest but they also did not charge me! Quoting them they said, "We didn't fix anything why would we charge you anything!?" I have found the new and improved repair shop for all my car needs. read more

UPDATE 4/13: Well I have to tip my hat to this Firestone location. Shortly after posting the negative review below, I was contacted by the store manager, who apologized and refunded the cost of both the oil change done at Firestone and the work done by Hyundai. Plus, he threw in a free oil change. I'm really impressed with the way that my complaint was handled. They clearly care about the work they do and value their customers. 3/28:2015: Bad experience. I took my 2013 Hyundai Sonata - which I'd purchased six months ago (23K miles) and had absolutely NO problems with - here to get a simple oil change in late March. On Easter Sunday, the engine started making a tinny clicking noise, and a few days later, the engine oil pressure light began blinking. That's never a good sign, so I took the car to the Hyundai dealership in Raleigh. They looked at it and said that oil was leaking because the oil filter had not been re-installed correctly. They said it was fortunate I got the car in when I did, because if I'd continued to drive it in its current condition, oil would have continued to leak, and it would have resulted in MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE. This place can't get an OIL CHANGE RIGHT? Stay away. read more

I have so many positive things to say about firestone... But I will just keep it short and sweet. They are the best, their staff, their service everthing. The only complaint I have is that they are Always busy but that is a good sign to me because it means other people feel the same way I do. Edwin and Mike are the best. They are very helpful, and never try to push random services that I dont need on me like other places..They also have a wonderful lifetime alignment offer. I don't want to make this a negative review, but know your stuff prior to going here and make sure they did everything right. I just brought my car in for alignment, and in their defense I have aftermarket suspension, so I appreciate them taking it in at all. The alignment tech wasn't sure how to adjust my caster/camber plates and my readings when I brought it in weren't too far off for caster and camber, toe was my main concern and they fixed that with no issue. I was fit in between a couple of other cars, but I got the feeling I was rushed a little. I did ask for max negative camber within spec, but with readings of -1.8 and -2.1 I was told that I was pretty much at top of spec and that it would take too much longer (once I had explained how the caster/camber plates worked) to adjust any further. Camber spec for my car is -0.75 ± 0.75 meaning I was a full half a degree out of spec and a little more than I wanted. Again, I this isn't a negative review because I came in with non-factory parts and if I were stock, I have no doubt they would have gotten it right without issue. And in the tech's defense he did offer to make it right after I explained, but again they made it sound like it would be a hassle and other cars were waiting (it really shouldn't have taken more than about 15 minutes with the equipment on hand), so I declined knowing I could make the adjustments myself very easily at home. My only issues were that I felt rushed, was told I was at upper end of spec when I was still off a good bit, and ended up paying for basically just a toe adjustment. I appreciate them fitting me in, but I would have waited and made an appointment for the next day if it meant not being rushed. I probably would not go back (for alignment) because I learned my lesson with aftermarket parts and would probably do my own alignment in the future, but I would still suggest them to friends with unmodified cars. This new Firestone station really impresses me. They show a willingness to meet my needs, an honesty that makes them charge fairly, and they show that they do know their trade. My old Pontiac developed a problem with starting. It would start with a jump, but for some reason the battery wasn't holding a charge. While trying to diagnose it myself, I disconnected the battery and therefore reset an anti-theft device I had long ago disabled and forgotten. So my problem was "battery too low plus car hasn't started since anti-theft device woke up". For my car's problem, the mechanics there did an electrical system test. But it didn't tell them everything we'd need to know, through no fault of their own, because of the anti-theft device. When "Guy", the manager, was ringing me out, he saw to it that Firestone did not charge me for the electric test. That was $30 I did not have to pay, and I did not even have to ask. Earlier that day, I had talked on the phone with "Mike", their anti-theft person. He had given me a good quote on the anti-theft problem, and didn't get upset or high pressure me when I opted to research my options more. The next day, I met him in person. One of my hopes was that someone, somewhere, would just fiddle around with the remotes I had for the car, and even accidentally turn the anti-theft off and let the car start. So far, everyone I'd talked to had thought it a useless thing to try. But Mike just looked the remotes over, and then walked out the the car and gave it a try. He didn't pooh-pooh the idea. And when that didn't work, he suggested an expert in town who had long experience in installing and uninstalling the devices -- the tip that finally got my car going. This Firestone branch did a good job with my car. As I said, they showed a willingness to work with me to meet my needs, and were honest enough to take items off the bill (without asking!) on which they felt they hadn't delivered, and they've shown that they do know their trade. read more

I found this Firestone location through luck when I was searching for coupons for a brake job. Not only were they able to do my brakes for $99 (inspection, new pads and turn rotors), but they got me in with no waiting and fixed my brakes, did an alignment, and balanced and put on a new set of four tires ALL WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF on a Thursday afternoon 3 hours before closing!!! They also found a nail in my tire that the dealership missed and showed me why I needed new tires instead of just telling me. I will definitely be coming here again. No need to leave your car all day some place when you can go here! read more

Was there on 12/3 for an oil change and battery check. I was loosing all the stored radio stations every night.This is the first sign that the battery is going bad. Watched the technician change the oil. After he filled up the oil, he didn't even bother to pull the oil stick and check that the levels are indeed correct. Oh yeah, they claimed my battery is fine and I don't need to replace it. They did say my 2 rear tires are bad. That was really the only thing that they diagnosed correctly. Today I got myself a new set of tires (not from Firestone) and had them check the battery and of course the battery was bad. The other shop I went to was really professional. My daughter took her car there for an inspection, what she got was a classic bait & switch scam. Over $400 later on a $30 part because someone thought the vehicle was 'unsafe' to pass inspection...oh really? I called the next day asking was this something that needed to be done in order to pass an inspection?. The manager said its up to the technician to decide if he deems car unsafe. Baloney! Waiting room was filled with people there for an inspection but then finding out their car was 'unsafe' and needing repair work. Scam! I went to Firestone on Monday to get my oil changed and my car inspected. I also had a headlight with a bulb that had gone out. I am not an expert on cars so when I arrived I let the person at the desk know I wanted the tech to look at my headlight and tell me what it will cost to fix it. I expected the Tech to tell me if it was just a bulb replacement or if it was the whole headlight.. which didn't make sense since the parking light and my highbeams still worked fine. I was told that it would cost me $169 dollars to replace the light, plus another 158 or so basically a total of $332 to replace the light and labor fee. I was also told it would take over an hour and a half to fix it. Well to say I was a little surprised is an understatement. Again I know nothing about cars so I said ok and scheduled a appt later that week to get this taken car of. The next day at work I mentioned this crazy cost to a co worker and he googled my car and said there is no way a single bulb should cost that much. He took a look at my headlight and told me which bulb to purchase. I went to advance auto and purchased 2 bulbs for 20 dollars. It took my friend 5 minutes to change out the 1 bulb and it cost me just the $20 dollars for the part. I will never take my car to firestone again. If I had not talked with my co worker I would have taken my car back and paid the $332 for a part I did not need. I only went to Firestone as I thought they where a reputable company and they would not try to sell me something at an outragous cost just to screw me out of my money.. well unfortunately I was wrong. My advice is if your like me and don't know anything about cars, ask someone who does or google it.. I saved money and time but asking a co worker. Very disappointed in Firestone. read more

Needed to have my rotors resurfaced. Intentionally made an appointment, thinking it would take a higher priority than someone without an appointment and was flexible on pick up time. Called to check on status late in the day and was told it was the next car in. An hour and a half before closing I was told it had just been looked at and would not be done that day. Brought it back the next morning and informed them the car was needed back by noon. At noon I was called and told again what it would need, slightly different than the night before and that it would not be ready till 2:30. Due to a doctors appointment the car was truly needed and was told it would be ready at 1:30. At 1:45 I got a call that the car was finished. I knew the car needed rotors via the dealership but not brakes. I will give the benefit of doubt that the vehicle needed the brakes. I will not be visiting this site again, my time is just as important as anyone else's and just because I do not have the availability to wait there does not mean I should have my car serviced last. If a time is given for completion it should be met and not ignored 3x. For my trouble I was given a free oil change, which is very professional but I will probably not use it based on this experience unless I have the time to wait. read more

I made an appointment for 1 p.m. on a this past Saturday. The sales associate Guy(that's his real name; also shop manager) had to order my tires from another store, but said they would arrive between 12:30pm-1:00pm. So I arrived at 1. Guy told me it would take 2 hours to put on 4 tires (didn't say why). So I left and ran some errands. I did not receive a call from the store so I came back around 2:30pm. Upon my return, my car was in the same place I parked it at 12:30pm and the 4 tires had also NOT been moved. I asked why hadn't my car been touched, the store manager said it was because they were behind, (but No one bothered to call and to tell me). The store manager then told me it would take another 1.5 hours to complete the job. I explained to them I had another appointment and due to their tardiness, I would be late. The store manager then tried to give me 2 free oil changes. This was not a good compensation because I do not get my oil changed there. Within 45 minutes the store called back saying my car was finished...45 minutes! When I arrived my invoice read $938. This price was $200 greater than the online quote. I was not happy and I will not return nor will I suggest this store to others. read more
