Over a 2hr wait just to put in new tires. I came in earlier than my scheduled appointment time for it. First and last time.

Just moved to Elk Grove from Fairfield, been a Firestone customer in Fairfield for bout 20 years, that alone should say volumes!! While looking for a location near me I started reading reviews from customers at this location and I think I'll keep looking! After several less-than-impressive alignments from other Firestone locations in the Sacramento area (Marconi/Howe and Stockton/Fruitridge), I decided to come to this location for a last-ditch effort to prove that my lifetime alignment was worth it. Normally, I'm not a picky guy and something "good enough" would have worked for an alignment on my car. But after my last few experiences, I wasn't going to leave until my alignment was perfect. Shortly after I requested the services, my car was on the alignment rack, which by the way is in the ground, allowing even the most lowered cars on without a problem. I requested custom settings for my car, since I wanted something a little more aggressive for the track, and the techs were more than willing to do so. Unlike other places, they were actually able to get EXACTLY the specifications I requested, and not just be "close", which was never close enough anyway. I was also really impressed by how quickly they were able to do so. After we got the car down, the technician found during the road test that the car still pulled to one direction. He performed another alignment and still had the pull. Finally, he switched the front tires with my rears and the pull was gone, my car tracking in a perfectly straight line. In the end, I felt this location went above and beyond my expectations for a chain store, and gave me some of the best alignment service I could have asked for. The tech who worked on my car (I think one of them was named Ryan) and the younger guy he was training were very communicable throughout the process. The two that helped me in the front were just as helpful, and I even got to kill a few minutes chatting about cars. I highly recommend this location for an affordable standard alignment that can be just as good as any of the $150+ you get at specialty shops. My wife and I took my daughter's car to this Firestone location because there was a small hole in the upper radiator hose. The service writer called us the following day to inform us that we would have to replace the radiator hose,the radiator,and the thermostat at a cost of $1,100. I informed him that I had checked the vehicle myself and the only problem was the radiator hose and that's all I wanted changed. He then told me that there was a crack at the radiator / hose connection and that when they take the hose off the connection piece would probably come apart,so we allowed him to change the radiator. I requested my old parts be returned to me and upon picking up the vehicle I checked out my old radiator and could not find a crack at the connection point. I even took a pair of vice grips and tried to flex the part so that the crack would show up and I still could not find a crack anywhere, used a magnifying glass at home and still could not find a crack anywhere. I really dislike giving a business a bad review but sometimes they really earn it. Yesterday evening my husband and I were driving to dinner and started to notice the pressure on our tire was quickly losing air. We ran over a nail. Firestone was the closest tire shop to us at the time between 5 and 6 pm. By the time we arrived at the shop it was about 5:25pm. They close at 6. There were 3 guys inside and we were told they could not help us. Either with a plug or a new tire. Didn't even bother to come out and look. They were more worried about getting off than doing their jobs. Luckily we had just enough air left in our tire to make it over to Sam's Club and Sam's Club Tire and Battery Shop helped us. Imagine a company who specializes in tires not having anybody there who can work on your tires. I will never be back here and I would not recommend going here. read more

I've tried to schedule an appointment here three times at the Elk Grove location. First time I tried to schedule an appointment, I scheduled it online and it was confirmed. I received an email with directions to call them prior to my arrival. Then I receive a call from someone named Thomas that said that the time slot was unavailable and that I couldn't get an appointment until the following week. This looks bad on their end because I had already received a confirmation and when I looked online the time slot was available so maybe they need to update their website to avoid confusion. I ended up calling the number he told me to contact him at but a young lady by the name of Dalia had picked up and said that she could help me reschedule. Second time, I went ahead and rescheduled my appointment for the following day with Dalia (which is very ironic since Thomas said they didn't have any availability until the following week) and I didn't receive any confirmation email. Nobody ever followed up so I didn't bother to show up. Third time I tried to schedule an appointment here for a different date--I did it online and still didn't receive a confirmation email. I would steer clear from this place because they're just really unprofessional and unorganized. I've never had my car serviced here but I don't think I ever will if it's this complicated to get an appointment. read more

After reading the string of bad reviews for this particular auto care center, I hesitated about making an appointment. I was in a time crunch and opted to give it a shot and ended up making an appointment for the following morning. I arrived early and was able to get my car checked in without any hassle other than the extremely rude behavior by the staff who seemed less than pleased to be at work that day. So, despite the not so great customer service, the car was serviced and completed within two hours (standard oil change) and I was able to pick it up without any fuss. Overall, I'd take it back to the dealer before returning to this location simply due to the unfriendly attitudes of the staff. read more

I have been going here since the start of covid however it seems like it got new management in 2021. This being said the new management sucks at everything they do. Appointments are always canceled and you never get a call back about it. They are pissy if you just show up but they never answer the phone or call you back which is ironic. Service techs are nice enough but caught one joy riding my coupe after an alignment and they claimed my car was unserviceable because it had aftermarket suspension (it's stock). i would recommend going literally anywhere else to avoid their service. read more

The last time I needed an oil change I discovered that the place I usually go to by my house had closed. How rude! Didn't they know how convenient they were? Anyway, after looking for good oil change deals on the internet, I decided to try Firestone. The people behind the counter were friendly and talked me into getting my tires rotated and other work done for a few dollars extra. I needed my tires rotated so I decided to take the deal. I was told it would take two and a half hours. Two and a half hours seems like a little long for an oil change, especially when the place by my house never took more than twenty minutes. The seating is extremely limited so we decided to walk over to Lowes and do a little shopping while we waited along with stopping by Baskin Robbins on the way back for an ice cream. We returned at precisely the time my truck was supposed to be ready only to find my truck was not ready yet. We stood around and waited for another twenty minutes because all the seating was taken. When it was finally time to get my truck, I was informed that one of my tires did not have enough tread so they could not rotate them but they still charged me for it. I hate being scammed. They also did not carry my size of tires. What kind of tire store that does not carry my size of tires? Really? The next day I noticed I was out of window washer fluid and the following day my check engine fluid light came on. I ended up going to Americas tires and I will definitely be looking for a better place to get my oil changed. read more

So i got up around 6am today and made my way out to firestone to make sure i was there before the hordes of people came to get there car repaired. they had a brake price posted at 129. I had a coupon for 50 bucks. I figured i was in for a sweet time..... lol So, my car goes in at 8 (first person there) after about 4 hours i hear back from them. The guy on the phone quotes me for their quality lifetime service 1049 because i need rotors, a tail light and wiper blades. Seriously? They charged me 20 bucks to take everything apart and give an inspection which is whatever im not really bent about that. what I am bent about is the quote. for those that are not very automotive inclined like myself. rotors are just big pieces of metal that your brake calipers apply pressure to to stop your car. they run anywhere from 14 - 30 bucks at the store...brake pads run anywhere from 25-40 bucks, taillights from 5-10 and windshield wipers from 7-20. as i was picking up my car they tried justifying the price stating well it has our guarantee.... i dont care what kind of magic pixie dust they are supposedly throwing on my brakes ....300% markup is f-ing silly... if you have a posted price...maybe you should stick to it. I mean honestly i could see a variance of 10 to 20 bucks... but from 120 to 1000+???? granted that included front and back...but that still ends up over 500 bucks an axle for something that costs 30 bucks MAYBE. Rotors are pretty much 0 labor if your taking off the brake calipers to change the pads anyways... the brake calipers on most models are what hold the rotors on...so its just a matter of switching a piece. 45 bucks to change a tail light? it has two screws. Give me an f-ing break. 40 bucks to change windshield wiper blades???? whatever. I generally like to pay people to do work as i am pretty lazy. I would have happily paid double the price they were originally asking. This place pissed me off so bad I went and bought the parts from napa auto parts and installed them in about an hour and a half and thats including driving to store to pick up the parts. (and i havent done brakes in like 10 years..not exactly rocket science) don't let them con you into thinking you "need" this special fairy dust that goes by the name of the firestone guarantee. You can get the same thing done way cheaper elsewhere. Stay away from this place. Its a rip-off. read more

Went to get new tires and these folks are absolutely amazing. I had a bit of a wait but so what, I was a walk in and unexpected. I got new tires for my SUV, an oil change and an alignment and it was the least expensive of any other place I got quoted. The customer service was beyond compare and the man in the front CH*** was amazing in helping me. He was very patient and explained everything to me. No pressure and he left all the decisions up to me. One of the great things that he explained to me was the lifetime alignment and it is so very worth it. I listened to him when he would answer the phone and he is such a nice person and pleasant to customers. The mechanic who did the work on my car did an excellent job. With the issues I've had in the past with this location (overinflated tire; tire mounted incorrectly) I had been going to another location near work. Back in May, I ended up here buying a set of tires as they had the size in stock. As far as I can tell, everything was done correctly. Then, this week I brought a different vehicle in for simple maintenance work (oil/filter and rotation). Unfortunately sloppy work was evident again as I noticed today that the tech did not pay attention (or didn't care) to mount one of the wheel covers in the correct position. This put pressure on the tire valve which could eventually lead to a leak, plus made checking the pressure more difficult. The manager apologized and corrected it promptly when I brought it to his attention, as well as comp'd my next oil/filter change but I shouldn't have to QA their work! read more

I am highly disappointed. I've been here a total of two times. The most recent visit, the manager on duty was very helpful and explained everything to me about the check up on my car. My first visit here was back in February. I had new tires put on my car. During this time the promo to sign up for their Firestone CC was available, stating that if you signed up you would receive free window wipers. I was told that mine would have to be ordered. The person helping do all this was Pat. He is supposedly the head manager (station manager??). Well he states that the wipers are something he will have to order because he does not have them in stock, and then I can come pick them up another time. Since I live a bit away, I notified him that my dad would be able to pick them up if I cannot. He takes down our information for the wipers... That was that. A couple months later I call up, he states that he will look into it and I think he pulled up my information. Pat then tells me that he will call me back with more information. Never calls back. I stop by while visiting and he is not there. I have one of the staff pull up my account and no one can recall what the promotion was during the month I signed up for the CC. I point out that the stupid printed out promo was still taped to the front of their stations. They shrug and tell me that they do not know if that was the exact promotion. My information was taken down again for Pat to call. Again I have had no phone call in two weeks. I had stopped in Santa Cruz, and had my service A done. They were helpful and nice. When I asked about the promotion, Erika was nice enough to look the wipers up for me. Maybe the reason why Pat did not order the wipers is because they came up in the system as being $148.00. When I left I was P.O. because instead of just calling and telling me the situation, I am being ignored. How many chances can a person get? I am pretty irritated and being pushed around and no outcome. What kind of customer service is this? I could maybe see not getting back to me right away, but now it has been 5 months and still no wiper blades. If the wiper blades (Bosch) could not be ordered, order another brand. After having used firestone for a few years I came to this location for new tires for my scion Xb about 14months ago. They sold me tires with no notification of tires not being spec'd to vehicle requirements, there for carried no warranty, being as it is lowered. Within these 14 months (12k miles of 25k warranty)all 4 tires are completely wore out, one having a full blow out down the middle of the tread. After having dealt with a sales person, they mentioned they were not the appropriate tires for the vehicle...... but they do have a better rated tire for the vehicle that cost 2$ more..... and would not honor the tire warranty. My experience with Firestone today did not go well. As a returning customer you expect the great service you got from the previous visit. Well that wasn't the case today (3-9-20). I schedule appointment for a brake flush and wheel alignment (Lifetime Alignment) on my SUV. After being there for 2 hours and 40 mins my SUV was finely done. I paid for the work done and begin drive off when I notice my steering wheel was not straight. Now what makes me upset because I told the person taking my information that I wanted them to make sure the "steering wheel was straight" after the wheel alignment. The person response was "oh it will be taken care of". I did not see her place that information on the work order but I believed her and just let it go. After realizing the steering wheel was not straight I returned to Firestone with my SUV walked in and one of the employees said "is there a problem" I responded "Yes" and stated I ask to make sure my steering wheel was straight after wheel alignment the and it's not. Then I ask him if he wanted to go for a ride for I can show him... his response was no but my manager would, he will meet you outside. I walk out and wait after a couple minutes a young man came walking out asking me what the problem was. I stated "did they not tell you what the problem was?" He then stated "oh" your steering wheel isn't straight. I responded are you the manger his response was "no" (just no). The manager didn't even take the time to come out and chat with me about the problem. So I just took the young man for a ride and showed him the issue. He agreed he took my SUV back and continues to work on it... had it for a while. I was so upset on how this was handled and I stay outside of Firestone building. No one came out to see if everything was being taken care of... I mean "no one". After about 35 minutes the young man drove up in my SUV. We went for a drive (I'm driving) and it was still the same way "Steering wheel tilted to the left" and whenever I set the steering straight it pulled to the right. I got to Firestone at 10:00 am and left there at 1:45 pm with my steering wheel tilted slightly to the left. No manager came out... not one time to see if the problem was fixed. I always come here to get my oil changed. There's usually a coupon for oil changes so that's definitely a bonus for me. Sometimes you can get an oil change for like $20. Since I work in Stockton I do the high mileage oil. I normally wait for my car while they service it and the seats they have are very comfy. They offer coffee just like any other auto place and they have a TV if you feel so inclined. It's usually on the History Channel whenever I go. The service is friendly and they're pretty quick to finish my oil change. It's nice too because they do a free of charge inspection with the oil change. read more

Came for an oil change, the service advisor (Patrick) ends up recommending over $550 of stuff to do and most of the stuff on their "recommendations" don't even need to be done. My battery is only 3 years old and still under a 96 month warranty, my coolant still has another 20k before a change, and $79 for a cabin air filter? Went in today for a battery warranty replacement. I had a 2 year replacement warranty on the battery and it was literally one week over a year old. They said they would replace the battery but since it was over a year old they would have to charge me $30 for labor. So I agreed. They call me 3 hours later and tell me they replaced the battery but now my truck will not start. They said they could do a no start diagnostics for $146 and I said no I will come and pick it up. I get there and jump start the truck and it's fine. I get home and do a little more research and it looks like they never replaced the battery. The battery reads 10 volts when the truck is off and it reads 13.9 volts when the engine is running. We have brought numerous vehicles to Firestone over the years but never to the elk grove location. I will never nor do I recommend anyone using this business. If you look at all the reviews there is a similar pattern. This location will take your appointment down by phone and tell you a basic vehicle inspection will take about an hour. When you arrive, they'll say they don't have anything down for you and can quickly get you in and have your inspection done in two hours. They'll make an excuse that all their techs leave at 4:30 and that's why it takes two hours to check basic road worthiness of a car. Insane. read more

I had a 4:00 appointment which I was on time for. I had a tire delivered to this facility from Tire Rack and needed the new tire to be changed with the damaged one - JUST 1 TIRE. I was told it would take 1 - 1 1/2 hours to repair. Really? 1 tire? If this was the time frame, why have an appointment set at 4:00? The employee asks for my keys... Again, WHY? Can't I just leave my tire, run some errands, and return? He finally agreed with me. So I left, ran my errands and returned at 4:50. It wasn't until 5:40 that my tire was ready. The same employee then tries to lie to me and says that my tire was ready 15 minutes after I left...REALLY? I saw the repair being completed around 5:20. I will NEVER do business with Firestone again. Lousy service, no respect for the customers time and they can't seem to tell the truth. There are so many tire store options... I recently purchased a set of 4 tires from this location. After doing research online their price was actually cheaper than having them shipped from Tire Rack. The service reps that helped me were Pat and Liane. Both very friendly, courteous and professional. They had the tires in stock and Pat told me it would take about 1.5 hours since they were a little busy. To kill time I walked across to Starbucks. After 30 minutes passed I received a follow up call from Liane giving me an update status on the vehicle. In addition they wanted to sell me some services. I declined and there was no pressure. She said it would be around another 30 minutes or so. She called me back in 30 and told me my car is ready! I walked back, paid and checked out. Overall it was a positive customer experience. For install/balancing labor was $17.99 per tire (A few other shops in the area charge $20 on up per tire.) Just something to consider if cost is your bottom line. They also do a complete overall inspection (obviously for upselling, but as I mentioned there's no pressure.) Based on the reviews I read prior to going with this shop I was a bit hesitant but most of the complaints appeared to be more about wait times. I was off work that day and wasn't in a rush so it was not a factor to me and the tire price was right. Also written on the back of their invoices it reads that if they don't have it done within the time they promise you also get a %10 discount on your next purchase with them. Surprisingly I was in and out in an hour to replace 4 tires! Based on this experience I recommend giving them a shot! read more

Firestone had me sold when I purchased my full set of tires with the lifetime alignment. I often will get my oil changed when I go in for s rotate n balance plus the alignment but every time I come into this location they do several different things 1. I choose to have my oil changed at Firestone since I get the free alignment with the purchase of the tires. 2 Every time I make an appointment they it will a couple hours but they always keep me waiting at 45 minutes extra 3 I ask the guys to call me when my car is done and I always have to check on my car. After 15+ years going to Firestone in the Arden Arcade area, moving to Elk Grove I was happy one was close. This is the worst location I have ever been to! After calling and asking to set an appointment, the guy said all they are doing is drop offs. Ok, I head over go in, while standing in line two people get helped that came in after me and they are now accepting no more vehicles. One of the last times I went in, I was told an hour, by the time I got through the line (just a few people) that it would not be ready till the next day. During one of the vehicle checks, the Cabin air filter was checked and they did not put it back in or the cover on. It was not until I went to replace it, I figured out that the cover was for and no filter was even in it. Unfortunately all the Firestone's are not the same, We have been in Elk Grove for 5 years now, this location is extremely hit or miss. Unfortunately way more misses that hits. read more

After reading a few recently and past negative posted reviews. It clear clarify's what I have experienced today. I brought my vehicle here in the past to do an oil change and I was quite happy with the service. Being experienced of managing a similar business like this for 10 years, I know its hard to find good employees to work on days when the GM is not available to work and to top it off train them on how to properly gain or maintain a potential longtime customer. Thanks to Yelp I can reach out to more people. To my story. I decided to do a "Manly" thing and decided to do an oil change on my truck this weekend. First off dude who put on my oil plug last, really the f..ing drain plug you put back into my drain pan was stripped. I had to use a flat head screwdriver to apply pressure to threads so I can back it out of the drain pan. Ok no big deal, everyone has a thread chasing tool and spare drain plug in their tool box....right? No worries "Manly" weekend. Next was the stupid oil filter that is mounted above the front diff. Easy to take of with right tools that every one has in their tool box. Filter wrench..... nope not coming off. too tight. next filter cup with a long freaking extension attach to a wobble extension. Nope not coming off either. Not feeling so Manly now. I decided to bring it to Firestone to have them remove the Oil filter. Chris I am assuming was the one in charge told me that he was going to charge me the full price of the oil change to remove the oil filter... I explained to him that if HEMAN did not put in the oil filter too tight that I would be able to take it off. I suggested that I was willing to pay for labor and part but he refused and said that there is no way to do this transaction on the computer system. Really.... you can't charge for labor hrs and a part you carry? I left Firestone with my old filter still on HEMAN tight. The least I can do I write my first review... If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Also, I should have checked the reviews for this place before I took it there and that's my fault but the other reviewers are right, these people are SCAMMERS!! I took my car in January 4th because it was making a weird sound that sounded like it was coming from under my car. When I got there, they said they could do a full vehicle inspection for $9.99. I accepted and thought that was a good deal. I left my car there and took a Lyft home expecting my car to be ready in about 2-3 hours with a diagnosis. After I did not hear anything, I called back and was told that they were just putting the estimate together and they would call back in a few minutes. About 20-30 minutes later they called back and told me the both right and left control arms were torn, the suspension needed to be replaced, it would need an alignment, and the front brakes needed to be done all for a whopping $986 bucks plus tax. The man on the phone told me that since my car was still taken apart at this point, if I agreed over the phone they could order the parts and have it ready by closing the following day. Me, a 22 year old female knows nothing about cars however I found it hard to believe that a small clunk sound coming from under the car would institute all these fixes to me 2012 car with 60,000 miles on it. I told them I was going to hold off on it for right now and they told me they would put my car back together and call me afterwards so I could pick it up. I received a call 10 minutes later saying my car was ready for pickup. This led me to think that they didn't even take it apart to begin with because how could they put it back together in 10 minutes if they really took it apart like they said they did. I ended up taking it to a mechanic that someone in my family knew from a friend. He replaced the front brakes and tightened some things on the suspension. The noise is gone. All for a whopping $126 bucks. I don't think they even looked at my car. I think they saw who I was and tried to get everything they could out of me. I don't think they even looked at my car, just let it sit there and think of something to fix. When I told my family mechanic that Firestone said the control arms were torn, he said if that were the case I wouldn't have been able to even drive the car but I have been driving it a few months with that noise and nothing happened. This place is a joke. Went in today with appointment for complete inspection and I specifically stated my concern for wheel bearings needing replacement. They say they checked yet my paperwork did not have this section check off. They stated they test drove and did not hear anything. They must be deaf because it sounds like a plane the the howling is so loud. And if they supposedly check my vehicle they would have told me about the wheel speed sensor wire shredded and hanging from my wheel which I knew was there but purposely did not mention at drop off so I would know they really checked. But of course they say I needed front and rear brakes and rotors $$$$ which I had them replace and the noise is still there. Extremely disappointed with service inspection. read more

The brakes on our car were making noise so I took it in to have them checked. I was contacted within an hour and informed that our brakes were not in need of replacing. Went here because i had a flat and was the only place open on a sunday and close to where i keep my work trucks i dropped it off and they said itll be ready at 6 came back around 5:40 my truck was still sitting where i left it they told me they havent worked on it yet so waited they take it in tell me they cant repair it i ask them to put the spare on sunce the tire was losing air waited till like 7 for my truck paid like 20 or so bucks next day took it else where they fixed my tire with no problem in less than an hour read more

Went in to this location because I was told they had an in ground alignment. I went in and asked about their alignment which I was told they were having a special for $179.99 for lifetime alignment. I forgot to catch the employee or maybe manager's name but he quickly shot me down. Asked if my car was lowered and I said yes. It is lowered but not heavily modified to where it won't get onto the rack. He never even seen my vehicle nor asked to look at it. He was willing to sell me the one time alignment which was $110/120 but not the lifetime. So I'm thinking, ok that means Firestone can do it but the workers are just too lazy. Why offer a lifetime warranty option and not sell it? I worked at a similiar type of job like Firestone and I know it's always about upselling and or what not but I am not going to pay $110 for one time.
