This Firestone service location gets ZERO stars from me. --But they make you put at least one in order to submit your review. If I could put a NEGATIVE star, I would. First off, I now realize why the parking lot was mostly empty. No, it wasn't my luck, it was probably due more to their customer service issues. I was referred to this location by my dealership because I have a funky tire on my car thats due to bust like, any day now. I called, they told me it would be covered under my warranty at firestone since they are the original tires on the car. (I think to myself SWEET!! Free tire service, thanks Saturn!) --But thats a WHOLE 'nother review! I walk into a very empty showroom of tires with two employees behind the desk. I smile as I walk up to the counter. The man was far off in the distance behind the counter and the woman approached as I approached. As I am smiling, this woman averts her gaze from me (in order to what? be invisible or something? Maybe I wont notice shes there!) and begins to get on the computer while simultaneously picking up the phone to chat to whomever. So i stood there for a good 45 seconds before I did the bend over to say "helloooo" Im here. By that time, my smile had faded because this woman had the gall to ignore me when all a customer wants is to be greeted as they come in the friggin door. Well, I didnt say anything and the guy behind the counter finally steps up to see what I needed help with. Basically, all he did was look at my tire and told me to come back TOMORROW to have some other guy look at it to determine what the price would be on fixing the tire. Needless to say, I will NOT go back. Not even to get my tire fixed for free. I plan to call the manager in the morning and planned on my way home to express to the world about the crappy customer service that this firestone has. Seeing as how this was my first visit to a firestone, I will NEVER EVER EVER return and will also shield my friends from visiting there even if I have to chip in a few more dollars for them to get their tire repaired elsewhere. I wouldn't give them any Stars but 1 was the lowest. I called Tuesday Evening around 4 to see if I could drop of my tire to get it Patch. It was the Same tire they Patch a couple Months ago. They said they were too busy but I could drop it off and pick it up the next day. I got there around 5:30pm, dropped off my tire to Daniel. He wrote up the slip and said it would be done the next day at 4pm. I sent my Boyfriend today (2 Days from drop off), The tire was NOT DONE. Their reasoning was that it was lost in the shuffle. HOW do you lose a TIRE in your SHOP? I called and spoke to someone (RICK?) he said they dont have a Manager - Just a Service Manager (Daniel). Daniel was kind enough to apologize but I do not feel confident to do business with them anymore... I previously bought all 4 tires and done other services with them - even referred them Business. Took my wife's vehicle there for a routine oil change due to Wheel Works in Pinole being recently shut down. I miss the Wheel Works crew already. Two of the 4 tires did have uneven wear and I probably should have gotten new ones until the guys told me I'd need a front end alignment every 5,000 miles or I'd void the new tire warranty. Really, I'd like to see that in writing. A ~$100 alignment every 5K miles is expensive and excessive for $150 tires . Needless to say I will not be returning to this Firestone. read more

Made an appointment at 9am for a vehicle inspection that really should only take 30 minutes max.. Got there early and they said it would take 3 hours. Because it was the only convenient location for me, I waited. My car sat in the parking lot for 2.5 hours and during the last 30 minutes they pulled my car in for the inspection. Why make the appointment if you're not going to see my car until hours later. To make things worse, they didn't even pass the car because my tires were only just ABOVE the legal limit. Their way of trying to get me to buy another 3 tires. I'm never coming back, and if I were you, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Awful experience. We took our truck in to have the U-joint replaced. When we picked it up, upon driving home, the whole drive shaft fell apart. We had to pay our own tow truck to take it to the Berkeley location. We picked it up a week and a half later, had it less than 24 hours and the same thing happened again. Drive shaft fell apart while driving on the interstate. We payed our own tow, yet again, back to Berkeley Firestone. They had had enough and sent it back to the Richmond location where the original work was done. If this is ever resolved we won't be visiting either of these locations again or recommending them to others. read more

I don't think I have ever received this bad of service. First I made an appointment for 8am on a Saturday. When I got there I had to stand in line for 15 minutes. There was only on counter person and 4 customers in front of me. I was purchasing 4 new tires and I was promised my car back by 10:30AM. After a few phone calls to see when it was ready I didn't receive my car back until 1PM. 5 hours later! Then to top it off they broke my wheel nut lock. Those things don't break when using just a torc wrench. I'm sure they used there air gun on them. So I had to go back the next day to get it taken care of. A big waste of my time! They did take some money off my bill, but I will NEVER go back there again! That was the first and last time I will ever go back. The worst part is three out of my four tires were not balanced correctly and I have lifetime balancing, so I will most likely have to bring one wheel at a time so they don't break anything. I got a flat on my car Tuesday and got a tire shipped to their Richmond location at the mall. On Wednesday I made an appointment to bring my car in for them this coming Monday but didn't want to be without a car all weekend so an associate told me I could bring my car in today and they could fit me in between appointments. Today comes and I call to ask if my tire showed up. The associate says yes. Great! I told him I would be there soon to drop off my car. He tells me I can drop my car off but it won't get worked on today and it wouldn't get done until tomorrow but they don't know what time. What? It's a quick job! You really couldn't fit me in AT ALL today??? My husband drove me to the Sears auto shop next door to FS and Sears said they could work on my car right away and have it done in 30 minutes. So we went and picked up my tire from FS and I got my car serviced at Sears instead. I have no idea why FS was giving me the run around on an easy job. They totally ran away a first time customer. I have to agree with Kiwi P. the person who reviewed this Firestone before me. Wow, deja vu, if I could give them negative stars I would. The very same experience happened to me. I walked up to the counter and a woman gave me a bitchy stare and then looked away from me and immediately went onto the computer. The two other clerks behind the counter also ignored me as they were chatting with each other and then onto the computer. I just expected to be acknowledged, but was treated as if I didn't exist. Sadly, I was the only one at the counter and in the shop at the time. I must have been standing there for a good 4-5 minutes because I needed to get a flat tire fixed. Firestone said they had to order the tire. I was okay with that and waited a day only to find out it wasn't delivered as planned. This was by far the worst customer service I can recall. Okay, so you hate your job and customers, then do something else! I then decided to go to BIG O TIRES in PInole, which rocks! They immediately helped me and fixed my tire the same day. read more

I took my car to have an oil change. The screw that holds the oil pan in the car was stripped and the incorrect filter was placed on the car. Causing the car to smoke. I thought that it was just oil spilled when they changed it, but the whole job was done wrong. read more

Had I seen the 2 star average rating ahead of time I would have not gone there. I need a simple tire repair. A $25 job that should take 15-20 minutes. I am greeted by a salesman with a grin and a friendly "how can I help you?" A say I need a tire repair and the smile disappears and he says "we are booked solid throughout the day and we cannot help you." I see 1 person waiting in the lobby. I took my car here for tires in Dec., advertisements get you in the door but I did not get the discount (buy 4 get 1 free) because once I was their the offer did not apply to my type of car! Then I had my tire get a bubble on the side probably as a result of too many pot holes and even though the tire only had 7,000 miles on it. I had to replace it! Oh they gave me a deal ... for that at cost... just another $124.00. Plus they said I would be out at 1pm, they never took my car from the parking lot until 1:45 so I had waited almost 2.5 hours. I had my brakes done a little over a year ago, not only did I end up having the brake system flushed (at their recommendation) but ended up with a kinked brake hose..which I just found out about today! I have been driving my car around with a kinked brake line hose for over a year!! Someone has been watching over my family and I, my brakes could have easily failed because of this. read more

What a rip. These people are incompetent or just plain crooked. My wife's car's CEL came on the freeway, so we rolled over to Firestone at Hilltop Mall. We'd used them before for tires and brakes. The desk guy says that the "technician" who does CEL diagnostics isn't in on Sunday, so we agree to leave it. Then the guy calls Sunday afternoon, tells us that hthey've diagnosed the problem and it's a "clogged" catalytic converter and possibly spark plugs. I had my doubts about the Cat converter diagnosis, so we authorized a spark plug replacement and valve cover gasket replacement. So, we get the car out on Monday minus $500 for the work. I suggest she take it to a Meineke shop on Monday. Long story short, the Meineke guy tests the Cat (2 of them), finds them OK, but his diagnostic showed a malfunctioning ignition coil. The Firestone guys didn't even replace the plug wires when they changed out the plugs, much less diagnose a simple ignition coil issue. DON'T GO THERE!!! NO STARS!!!! read more

Like many before me, I was suckered into the whole lifetime tire alignment deal thinking I got a good deal. First offense. I took my car in and had new replacement tire. One of The 4 center caps was not screwed down correctly, so it was gone after I drove back from there. It would cost me $50 to replace it. Second offense. After taking my car to my friend's private garage to fix my car for several years, I have some good ideas about how long it takes to fix some car issues. But Firestone is closer and the dangling of the lifetime alignment carrot is tempting, so I gave in. Recently I took my car there to get oil change and brake fluid flush, without any brake pad issues. But right after that, my brake pads started to have issues. So I took my car in to replace 4 brake pads. What would have been a simple 2 hour job was "3 hour" job there, to "45 minutes more", to "I don't know how long it will take but a few minutes more", and 30 minutes later to "wait some more". Then I noticed the clerk went to another room and called to check progress. I was aggravated and watched for my car in the garage. It was not even there. If your car is being fixed at the same location, at least you can keep an eye on so no one is switching bad parts for good parts on your car, and you are stuck with more to fix. Economy is bad and people will become desperate. When your car is outsourced elsewhere to be played with for more than 6 hours, you don't know. After 6 hours, I got my car back. I drove out and things just got worse. When I turn wheels, the car is shaking and the front axle seems like it will fall apart. This is completely not how the car was when it went to Firestone 6 hours earlier. I know if I go back to Firestone, then it will just be more parts to fix leading to more new parts to fix. So now I am forced to sell my car. In the future, I am going to go back to my friend to fix everything. read more

I judge car parts/service places on how they treat their female customers. I first went to Firestone to get 4 new tires and I purchased the lifetime alignment. The techs were great, treated me with a lot of respect and not one time did they treat me like I was stupid. I have been back several times for a realignment(because my husband had put new parts on the car not because they did something wrong) and to drop used oil off. Each time they see me I am greeted with a smile and a wave from everyone. I highly recommend these guys they have taken great care of me!! read more

Yesterday was a rough day to say the least. I woke up to frozen pipes and no water in the house, our Kia Optima would not start, and on the way to taking my 10 year old boy to the 49er game, we got a bolt in our tire. The staff at Firestone Complete Auto Care were perfect!! They were compasionate about our situation, and changed the tire, within minutes. We were back on our way to the game and only missed the beginning of the first quarter. I highly recommend this company. read more

The system won't let me give less than one star otherwise I would. I brought my car in to have a tire patched due to a screw in the tire. The screw was located well away from the tire sidewall with the tire being in excellent condition and only about 3 months old (no previous patches). I've had tires patched in the past at this Firestone with no problems but this seemed like a relatively new crew. I received a call a short time later stating that when they placed the tire on the machine the tire sidewall gave way and that since my car (BMW X3) was all-wheel drive I would need to replace all 4 tires. Technically this is correct since I have Pirelli tires on my car and if I wanted to switch to Bridgestones I would need to replace all 4. However since the tires are all relatively new I wasn't doing this. I had them install the spare. When I picked up my car there was a strange 3 inch gash in the sidewall of the damaged tire. My regular BMW mechanic stated that this type of gash was in all likelihood the result of damage from the tire changing machinery and caused by Firestone. The result of all this: $250.00 for a new tire instead of what should have been a $25 repair. They also had the nerve to list several unneeded "recommended" services on my invoice including chemical fuel system cleaning for $89. I'd avoid this place if all possible. read more

One of my 3 month old tires (installed at another Firestone location) had a slow leak. Hilltop is closest to me now so I called them for an afternoon appointment. Was told an appointment was not necessary; just bring it in and they would take care of it. Arrived at 3pm and was told it would take about 3 hours (they were busy). Offered to return on a slower day but insisted on an appointment. They gave me an appointment for 3pm Sunday. Arrived Sunday afternoon. This time he said it would be about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. (This is about a 15 minute job). Obviously the appointment didn't help me much. An hour and 15 minutes later they finally started to work on my car. By the time I finally got my car back it had been nearly 2 hours. My last set of new tires were installed in less time (at the other Firestone location). These people are very nice - very friendly - but they do not display a high regard for customer time and convenience. read more

are you kidding me? the tow driver from AAA recommended this place to get my broken down car fixed. AAA recommendation-perfect! OMG. they charged $165 to diagnose the problem then put a new fuel censor in then took it out cause that was not the problem then did an oil change then decided it was the timing belt and insisted the water pump be replaced because they wear out at the same time then a new thermostat with get this a head gasket to stop the oil leak. Now This Did NOT Fix The Problem. after $1347.00 of pretty much unnecessary work they do a compression test and guess what THE ENGINE IS BLOWN. they now think it MAY be the valves or valve rings or valve stems. we go in to see the car and they have one of the engine mounts off and the engine sitting up on a jack. half the cover plates are laying on the floor, the valve cover is off and parts are everywhere. one of the other mechanics not working on the car tells me they do not know why the mechanic that did this work was given this job cause he obviously did not know what he is doing. they let us out of there after it took 2 1/2 hrs to put the car back together for the cost of the water pump and gaskets plus 9 hrs of labor for $619 and change. this all could have been avoided if they had done the simple compression test and the $165 diagnostic before tearing the car's engine apart. Never go there. Oh yeah. Even the AAA guy that was sent out to tow us home after we stopped the bleeding sat in the parking lot waiting for someone to bring him a jump. He had a dead battery in his truck. And he waited almost 2 hrs for the jump. AAA rated indeed. read more
