I was trying to decide between two completely different cars (different makers from different dealerships). First of all, our salesman gets 5 stars, I will write a separate review for him. However, I think this is a problem that is consistent with all dealerships. They don't want to give you the "actual numbers" unless you say you are "willing to walk out with the keys." I was a serious buyer. I was getting one car or another, I just had to decide which one. Knowing the numbers was part of determining which car I selected. I was told that they didn't want to waste their time crunching numbers if I wasn't serious. I was serious, but knowing at least an approximation of the numbers was going to be part of my determining factor. I felt that was condescending. I went during labor day weekend, but there was no deal or incentives or anything. Maybe I needed to haggle or something, but just taking off $545 to round down the price, the numbers person sort of rolled his eyes, but agreed. I think that dealerships, in general, need to have an abbreviated way of giving you at least an approximation of what the numbers will be. Nearly everyone can get their credit score free, and using that number (with the caveat it may be slightly different with a hard credit check) would be fine. When making a HUGE, MAJOR purchase, who doesn't want to know exactly what the numbers are going to be? The really great financing deals of 0.9 were only for the base models of the car we were looking at, not the higher up models. A good thing I will probably never need another new car, because this was not fun. Regarding trade-ins, the competitor dealership asked what I wanted for my trade in, and agreed to what I had asked, the competitor even bumped it up another $500. Honda offered me first hardly anything, then reluctantly gave me 1/2 of what I had asked. Do they not realize it is actually a way of giving the customer an incentive? In the end, they gave me a few hundred off, but rather reluctantly. I guess it is good to know instead of a sale, or rebates, or great incentives, part of the money spent on my car is going toward the Helpful Honda people doing good things for others. But really, especial for a​ holiday event, why not give the actual customer some sort of incentive? read more

Just purchased a new car from First Honda. Not my first but definitely one of the worst experiences I have had there. The game playing, negotiating, lack of knowledge of the cars and inexperienced sales staff is concerning. They treated me like it was the first car I have ever bought. Had to work with 6 different people and it amounted to a circus of a purchase. First Honda needs to realize the old way of doing business has changed. Treat customers well and you don't have to do a whole lot of selling. The tools out there these days has prepared buyers a lot more than in the past. Everyone has different circumstances when they walk through the door. I felt all they were concerned about was selling, selling, selling. I am still not sure they cared if I was content or if they were just concerned about pleasing themselves. Disappointing for a dealer I respected in the past, in a small town where word of mouth is huge. Could not have asked for a better experience. First of all 1st Honda phoned us to ask if we were interested in selling our 2012 Honda Civic that had 51K miles on it. I thought it was someone saying they were 1st Honda but I didn't think it was a real call. So I went down to Honda and asked in Person; it was really them. After 2 weeks of thinking about it, we went in to talk to them. We walked out with a brand NEW Honda Civic, top of the line, no miles on it! PLUS, they added the extended warranty for no extra money! I went in to check out some cars and I went in specifically for a 2013 Honda Civic because I really like the look/style of it. Ryan Lewis took us on a test drive in a brand new Honda Civi 2015. He didn't even have to talk me into getting a new ,it only made sense to me when he explained the differences. Last month my pour 2014 CRV was in a bad accident and didn't survive but I was completely unharmed. Amazing how it protected me. Went in to buy a car with cash. Sales rep Juan was very personable and answered most questions about the vehicle. The negotiation process did not go well with not much budge in price. After numerous requests in person and remotely to have them provide me a bottom line price, they still would only provide me with "we will be competitive with anyone else". Sales manager very impersonal. Never show up to a business/financial negotiation with a short sleeved shirt and tattoos running down your arm. He had no people skills and after a very short negotiation he walked off as if his time was wasted. Juan cleaned up after the sales manager and we left with at least being treated respectfully by the junior salesman. It's a shame because we were repeat customers who had previously purchased a vehicle from that location. Decided to go with another dealership. Advice to Sales Manager - never look unprofessional and treat customers well whether you get the sale or not because you never know who they'll talk to or if they may change their minds. Honda's current national ad campaign is "Helpful Honda" - it ought to be HELL-FUL HONDA if the service department is anything to go by. I've had a problem with my "battery" - according to everyone BUT Honda. Brad in service even slipped and admitted that replacing my battery, which is under warranty and was replaced in 2016, WAS A BIG RED FLAG FOR HONDA. The subtext, of course, is they won't replace the battery to find out why the car keeps losing a charge because Honda will "ding" them. They've kept the car numerous times and have been unable to track down the "parasitic drain" they believe is causing the battery to go dead. Fine, we'll see. But my battery was leaking ACID and I just had it in for service three days ago. So you guys didn't service the car very well if you were replacing the oil, the transmission fluid, and you didn't notice the battery acid on the top. Seriously? Of course, maybe, perhaps, there's some mysterious parasitic drain but more likely is the fact that you didn't want to get that ding from Honda. FYI, I've been sitting in the waiting area and seen service guys upsell people on tires, and other stuff. I've been going here for years, but no more. Must be new management protocol since they didn't used to do this. FYI, Honda, you can expect a social media campaign touting your incompetence which is what happens when you jerk a writer around.
