I know it's Simi Valley so I expect a certain level of prejudice but this was just uncomfortable. This was my very first dealership i had gone to after researching hondas online for months. It was three of us, we are younger individuals and I was ready to buy a honda. (I brought my brother and boyfriend to help me not get taken advantage of) mike the sales guy of the month obviously did not think he should treat us like customers. We did test drive the car and I was wondering if I qualified for their limited time 0.9% APR financing and that is based on credit. I asked if he could check my credit to see if I qualify and we can talk numbers. He immediately said well how serious are you about buying tonight we do not just run people's credit to have them run off to other dealerships with it. I said I understand but obviously me qualifying will determine my financial situation and I need that before talking about anything else. He ran my credit and told me I do qualify, well actually he told me his manager was nice enough to bump me up to be qualified when the other dealerships after him never worded it that way I was always just qualified. He asked me what I was looking to pay and I said what are you willing to offer? I had My number in mind...but i Wanted to see an offer. He went on his computer and said very condescendingly, knowledge is power and I want you to know what the suggested retail price is for this car (which I had spent months looking on truecar, carewoo, Kelly blue book, other dealerships, etc) I said ok now what can you guys do for me as far as price? And before he even showed me a single price, I never once saw a number for the car other than the sticker price, he said why don't you go do what you feel you have to do, go do your research and bring me any written quote and ill beat it. He shook our hands and said good luck. I have never felt dismissed by someone who I thought wanted my business before, and he missed out on a sale that night. He called me a few days later and said he thought we were close to a car sale the other day and he wanted to follow up, close to a car sale? Really? he never even showed me one number, nothing! A week later I ended up at Scott Robinson honda in Torrence and had an amazing experience, they were patient, treated me with respect from start to finish and never talked down to me. I have them my business gladly. Steer clear unless you want to go through the typical B.S. car sales game of cat and mouse. They don't want to help they want you to pay top dollar. He isn't sales person of the month for nothing, and not for the consumer's benefit believe me. read more

They may be 1st Honda but they are LAST in service. I waited nearly 2 hours for my oil change and tire rotation after being told it'd take "1 hour and twenty minutes." I was in the waiting area the whole time, and no one called me to let me know my car was done. I had to go up to the counter to inquire about the status. When they realized my car was done, there was no apology for the delay. No one even went over what they did or the itemized break down of the charges. They just lead me over to the cashier and said thanks. WOW. And the worst part was, looking on the time stamp on the invoice, my car was done after 40 minutes. Soooo, I waited all that time when my car was just sitting there. WTH people. I had always gone to the Honda dealers from where I'm originally from for servicing and this was by far the worst service I've ever received at a Honda dealer. I probably would've been treated better at Jiffy Lube. Definitely going to try and find a different dealer to get my servicing at, because this really was unacceptable. read more

After spending all day test driving cars in Thousand Oaks...we had pretty much decided on the Honda Civic and came back to our home town of Simi to get the final pricing to purchase a vehicle. We like to keep tax money in our home town. The manager and sales person were so rude. When I told them I am a Costco member and wanted Costco pricing, they proceeded to tell me how much of a rip off it is for dealers to be a part of the Costco program.... I love Costco. They did not want to give me pricing...said to come back when I am ready to buy. I stated I was ready....wanted pricing to decide between the VW or the Honda. They said any price they give me would only be good for 24 hours (I told them I was purchasing in a week). How does a business run with pricing that differs every day. I guess it depends on who you are and or what day you come in???? That is why I use the Costco program to purchase cars. The price is the price......no secrets and no changes based on what day of the week it is. They explained that too many customers have come in for pricing and just taken the pricing to another dealer to make their final purchase. Maybe it is because of the rude sales people. They seem dishonest based on the secretive pricing. Remember the number one rule in customer service. The customer is always right. A salesman should never be arguing with a potential client.....can't imagine how they treat you if are a client. After using Costco auto program...I was directed to Oxnard Honda..I received detailed pricing by email, including taxes, fees and loan info. No problems....super efficient and easy. I submitted an interest on 1st Honda on a 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Plug-in and I was immediately contacted by the internet sales rep Charlie J on the phone. He asked me what kind of pricing I was looking for? I replied with "I'm looking for the best deal you can offer." I had explain to him that I had been quoted with the selling price $38,500 from another dealership. Soon after he hung up and spoke with the sales manager Albert and he quoted me $37,511.96. I was excited so I went to my bank and requested my loan to be approved on October 30, 2013. My loan at this point only last 30 days, I had made plans to go down on Sunday to purchase the car with my Credit Union loan. I then called back Friday 11/1/2013 to inquire about test driving the car and purchasing it on Sunday 11/3/2013. So I called in asking for Charlie J to confirm and his manager Christian picks up and convinced me that it might be a better option to finance with Honda Financial. I agreed and filled out the form shortly but he had assured me if I didn't qualify, I could come down on Sunday with my Credit Union loan to purchase the car. So I called in today on 11/2/2013 and asked for confirmation of the appointment with Charlie J and he schedules a 6pm. I was excited at this point and then he calls me to inform me that they can't honor the deal because it required $15,000 down and I had to use Honda Financial to get the quote of $37,511.96. Albert and Christian never stipulated that I needed go with Honda Financial to get the deal. All in all they caused me to lost another 10-15 points on my credit score and lost of wages (200 bucks) for taking off from work. 1st Honda don't seem to care if the customer credit rating is taking a hit (after all, it's not their credit score.) They also don't seem to care that they caused me to lose wages from not working. read more

Basically they couldn't make a deal with us based on $250. They let us walk out of there only for us to buy a car from Westminster Honda from Ray Egans. Not only did Ryan lose our business this time, he lost future customers as well since we have to buy my daughter a car very soon. Ryan Lewis starts out very strong like he really cares about you and your family but in the end he's like every other car salesman. Too bad Ryan your ego got in the way of making money tonight. My wife's aunt gave us a 2007 Honda Fit. We had two keys. One fell off my key ring in San Luis Obispo this weekend and the other key's whereabouts is unknown. So, I called the dealer and ordered new keys. Stopped by to pick them up so I can open the car, release the brake, and get the car towed to the dealer so they can program the transponder keys. Total bill approximately $245.00. When ordering the keys the parts man said he would only sell them to me if I brought the car to them to have the keys programmed. BLACKMAIL. I, not feeling well, not looking for a battle (but I knew I could win), simply said "what choice do I have". Stopped by the dealer to pick up the keys. They asked to see the registration to prove that I was the registered owner which of course I'm not because we can't get into the car to drive it to the DMV although I do have the pink slip that has been signed over to me/us. I explained all of this to the parts man and the parts manager. They REFUSED to work with me to resolve the issue. I also explained that I was less than enamored with their service department as they once lied to me, charged me $110 to reset the airbag light on my wife's car (and spun quite a tale about how difficult is is, how they had to connect the car to the "Honda" computer system, and blah, blah, blah, blah.). I later learned that there is a simple procedure (involving turning on the ignition and then pressing the door switch 7 times in 10 seconds). I finally told them I wasn't feeling well, was in pain that they can only begin to imagine, and if we couldn't get the issue resolved and I couldn't leave with a key that could open the door to allow me to get the car down to them for the key programming hell would freeze over before I ever used their dealer again as I don't want to do business with folks that can't think and make a simple decision. I also told the parts manager that he knew what he could do with the two keys they had ordered. On my way out I left a message for the owner to call me so I can share my experiences with him. As hell is warming up, I doubt that I'll ever see them again. To that end, I looked on the internet, found a locksmith that can make and program the keys for $75 less. Per Joe V.'s request I contacted him. He seemed to only want to defend their position. He did not know the law but had strong unsubstantiated OPINIONS about what the law says. We agreed to disagree but he wouldn't let go of that issue until I made it perfectly clear I wasn't going to discuss it any longer. He then told me that all the information I'd found on the internet regarding resetting the airbag light on my wife's car was conjecture and unsubstantiated. I suggested that he get one of their service technicians on the line and we could find out the truth. He declined and I terminated the conversation because he is, simply put: FULL OF BS. Here is the law and it seems quite clear to me that if they copied my driver's license and kept a copy of the registration and/or pink slip (title) they would have been able to make me a key and be perfectly within the law, contrary to Joe V's assertions. I am disabled, driving causes me considerable pain and difficulty and I feel I'm owed an apology!!!!! Joe is free to post an apology on YELP but I seriously doubt he'll do so. Here is the law: 466.6. (a) Any person who makes a key capable of operating the ignition of a motor vehicle or personal property registered under the Vehicle Code for another by any method other than by the duplication of an existing key, whether or not for compensation, shall obtain the name, address, telephone number, if any, date of birth, and driver's license number or identification number of the person requesting or purchasing the key; and the registration or identification number, license number, year, make, model, color, and vehicle identification number of the vehicle or personal property registered under the Vehicle Code for which the key is to be made. Such information, together with the date the key was made and the signature of the person for whom the key was made, shall be set forth on a work order. A copy of each such work order shall be retained for two years, shall include the name and permit number of the locksmith performing the service, and shall be open to inspection by any peace officer or by the Bureau of Collection and Investigative Services during business hours or submitted to the bureau upon request. Any person who violates any provision of this subdivision is guilty of a misdemeanor. (b) The provisions of this section shall include, but are not limited to, the making of a key from key codes or impressions. (c) Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to prohibit the duplication of any key for a motor vehicle from another key. read more

His name is Bobby and he texted me saying, "Thank you for review on Yelp, happy holidays to you". Thank you also Bobby for being so unprofessional before I left your store that night. You thought I was not going to buy a car and that the next establishment will be worse. So far I have been referring customers to a different establishment ever since I got my vehicle. I hope that you "have a happy holiday" and "let's see if they treat you better". You made your store even worse when I left it. You should have left it when I said "sorry but it looks like we're both just wasting our time." When I said that you come back with a text 2 or so weeks later. You should have left it as is. I frequented this Honda service center for my 2007 Civic so when time came to look for a new car I made sure to stop by the sales department. My first meeting was with Michael Lenhart test driving the Honda Fit and he was fantastic with showing me all of the aspects of the car. Juan Sanchez was amazing on the day that my parents and I went in to purchase my new car. He stepped in for Michael, who I had the original appointment with, since he was tied up with another customer. I had a difficult time choosing between two of the Honda Fit models, but Juan was patient and informative while I made my decision. Once that was done he was great with filling out all the paperwork with my mother and I. Bought a Civic from Charlie tonight. It was a fast, clean, fair deal. i had been shopping at another local Honda dealership, but decided I should come down here to see what kind of price they would give me. I would not give Charlie the numbers I got from the other dealership. The other dealership salesperson asked me not to share the number, so I did not share it out of respect for the sales process. Charlie eventually beat the number without knowing what it was. The finance guy was nice and mellow and did not try to push extras on me. He just asked if I wanted them. I did not (and no amount of salesmanship would have otherwise convinced me, so that was nice). Charlie had the car detailed, explained the features, helped us set up our phone to the navigation, etc. I have been reading a lot of the reviews on here about sales tactics. Having been in sales myself (different area of sales), I can understand why a salesperson won't give you a quote over the phone. You basically get the phone quote, go to another dealer and have them beat the quote. It is a waste of the first dealer's time and they don't have the opportunity to try and sell you their car in their dealership. Also, car sales in general can typically be aggressive sales. Get comfortable with that possibility, do your homework, understand what you can spend, what a good, fair price is and try and get that price. Also understand what a totally ridiculous offer is. You don't have to be rude and neither does the salesperson. Aggressive doesn't have to mean rude. I was told the first offer I made tonight was an aggressive number. Great! We're on the right track! Did I take offense? Of course not. He wasn't being rude. He was getting the show on the road. Take the emotions out of it and negotiate the numbers. I also understand a business is there to make a profit. That's how they stay in business. If you can strike a fair deal, then everybody wins. How do you expect any place to stay in business if you try and squeeze every penny out of them? And the same should be said for you as the customer. They should not try to squeeze every penny out of you either. Anyways, it was a pleasure to negotiate with Charlie! read more

Let me first say the worst experience ever buying a certified used vehicle from this dealership. The seller Albert his manager Lambert who promised me that they would take care of some issues before I bought the vehicle. (Lambert doesn't work there anymore so they didn't want to honor the deal.) They assured me it was all going to be taken care of once I made the deal to buy. The deal was new tires, headlamp restoration , making the bumpers look better , and a noise coming from the engine. To make a long story short the sales people don't even communicate with the service department at this dealership. It's like pulling teeth here , do yourself a favor and don't buy anything from this dealership tell all your friends and family to avoid coming here. False promises at 1st Honda of Simi Valley. POOR SERVICE! I dropped my car off for a warranty item. At the service desk I also requested that new wiper blades be installed. The gentleman told me that I could take care of that when I came to pick up my car. I told him that I would pay for the blades before i left so that when I returned to pick up the car everything would be taken care of. He informed me that it would require EXTRA PAPERWORK. It would be easier to just take care of it when I returned to pick up the vehicle. When they called 4 hours later to tell me the car was ready, I asked the same guy again if he could see to it that the blades be installed before I got there. He told me that all i had to do was to go to the cashier, pay for the blades and someone would quickly install them. When I arrived the cashier sent me to the parts desk. Then back to the cashier. Then outside to my car that was waiting under the canopy (It was Raining). I asked the guy outside who would install the wiper blades. He told me he would get someone from the parts dept to install them. He asked me to move my car while i waited. I moved my car out into the rain and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I got out, walked in the rain to find the guy who told me he would get someone to install the blades. The same guy then told me that I had to to go inside and find someone. Finally a guy from the parts dept came out to install the blades. He told me that he wouldn't go into the rain, that I needed to move my car back under the canopy. I went back into the rain to move the car and then went inside to complain. The service manager was out to lunch. Someone behind the desk half listened to me while he finished working on his computer. After he was done, he asked me my name and number and told me that the service manager would call. I never heard from them! POOR SERVICE! After I posted this review and sent in the on-line service review that I received from Honda two days after the episode, I got a call from the sevice manager. He apologized for dropping the ball and went out of his way to try to make things right. My next service is taken care of and hopefully it goes better than this last trip. read more
