We have used First Texas Honda for 18 years. They used to be quite good, but now they are the worst of the worst. They "fix" things that have previously been fixed. Every time we bring our car in, new mysterious problems arise. This has happened again and again and again ... until it is almost a comedy. We recently brought our car in for new windshield wipers. We were waiting hours for what should have been a few minutes ... so that they could complete their "multi-point inspection". When we complained over email we were given a form letter explaining why they do the multi-point inspection. Why have a form letter for responding to complaints when they should be putting energy into addressing the complaints to begin with. read more

These folks are amazing--from the "no high pressure" sales experience to the service. You can schedule service online, text, email, or call. With appointments, you are in and out--quickly and efficiently. Again, no high pressure. Jay Jank is amazing as a service advisor. I've been working with him since 2013. It's nice, in this day and age, to continually see the same face for service--someone who knows you and your driving habits and service preferences. FTH has a very nice waiting area so you can work or relax while you wait for your car. They even have a wonderful coffee and snack bar--that's free! These folks "get it!!" I'm glad I found them. I bought an HRV from first texas honda this weekend and it was an incredible experience. My sales consultant was Holden and my finance guy was Manny - both were amazing. This was my third stop of the day and they were the only ones who talked directly to me, the one choosing and paying for the vehicle, and not my father who tagged along to give advice. They didn't pressure or push me but made sure I was getting something that met the criteria I was looking for and was in my price range. My review is meant to reflect my experience with the service department at FTH, not the sales department. I'm a lifelong Honda/Acura owner and I took my car in for service of two issues. There was a slow draw on the battery that no one has been able to identify so I thought I would give them a try. They weren't able to locate the source of the problem either and that's OK; the issue has eluded every mechanic I've taken it to. The other issue was fixing the trunk. A very, very simple process. The FTH team advised me that they could only fix the trunk if I agreed to do additional recommended service totaling over $4K because they would then have access to the area of the car that would allow them to inspect the problem. Ultimately, I was able to fix this issue watching a few YouTube videos. Summary: They're great for oil changes and other basic stuff but don't take your car in for anything beyond that. read more

Looking for help after my wife lost her only keys for her honda. normally i would take my car to the round rock location since they are the best there but I gave these guys a try so I called custumer service I talk to someone there about my issue and the only answer I get was you have to tow the car which I knew I had to do that but my question was how much and what do I need to bring or do to get the new key ? So this person as a better answer he transfer me to the speed service department to get the right service which I don't know why they call it speed service department. he transferred my call and no one answer the phone I left my message about my issue with car one day after no call has been returned I don't really recommend this service department for your needs since they are not valued theirs costumers. This review is late but necessary! I purchased a used car in December 2018...at first it seemed as everything was going well. I asked my sales person if there was another key to the vehicle and he stated that the previous owner said that there was and he would follow up with the previous owner and get back with me, he never did. Then I had a follow up call from Sean and I asked him about the key, he as well told me that he would follow up with the previous owner and never contacted me with a response. But they are quick to ask you to do a survey or a review. I contacted First Texas Honda around 12ish on Saturday, 2/23/19 to ask if they warranty the car on their part because I was told that the inner and outer tire rods needed to be replaced plus the driver side doors had something going on with the locks. The receptionist told me that everyone was busy being that it was a Saturday and transferred me to someone's phone to leave a message, which I did. I didn't get a call back so I called back about 1, same young lady answered the phone told me the same thing and transferred me to someone else to leave a message. No call back around 3 something so I called again a young man answered the phone different attitude more willing to help, he told me let me make sure they are able to speak with you before I transfer you....finally I was able to speak to someone. Mike was the guys name, I explained to him that I just purchased the used car in December 2018, haven't even put 600 miles on it since I purchased it. I purchased the extended warranty but it will not be effective until I put 1000 miles on the car and it won't go into effect until March 3rd. He told me that I signed a paper saying AS IS, true I did and the car was purchased with 120 thousand plus miles on it. Basically Mike told me so what do I expect with that many miles on it already! They claim that they do such a thorough inspection on the car before selling it, that should have been spotted during their thorough inspection. No empathy on their part, they can do what they chose to do but it would be nice if they stand by what they are trying to represent not by the contract you sign. That's definitely not the way to build customer service for the future. The young lady that answered the phone on Saturday didn't get her name is just there for a paycheck no concern for anything...sometimes people need to put themselves in other people shoes, here it is I just got this car...I was told they do such a thorough inspection before selling it and it has already cost me out of pocket for maintenance! GREAT SERVICE! I didn't buy a car here but took mine in to get serviced. All I needed was a headlight changed and they did it very quickly. Also, I was clumsy and tipped over a succulent while transporting it home and they vacuumed it up for me. I know they didn't get much done on my car but I felt valued with how they handle the little service I did need. I think the service advisers that helped me were Manny and Zach. read more

So I leased a car from them in 2019 and I was happy until I found out that they added so many services that I needed as part of "a good deal". After I leased it, they were not responsive to any of my calls. I sold the car to end my lease early and I canceled all those services and they haven't refunded me. It was March 2021 when I canceled them. They lost my paperwork and they were blaming me for it. Still they are saying accounting has been slow because of covid. Like everyone on Yelp, I've had experiences both good and bad at many places, but I've never felt compelled to write a review, until now. I'm not a reviewer, but my second negative experience at First Texas Honda made me feel compelled to let others know about our experience. In short, I was accused of putting over 2,200 miles on a loaner car and causing $1,000+ worth of damage to the car's bumper. Neither of these things happened. Getting someone to speak with me about this with First Texas Honda was nearly impossible. I didn't find out about this until nearly a month until after the loaner was returned. That's right, a month. Do you know what can happen to a loaner car at a dealership in a month? I never received a phone call from First Texas Honda to discuss the incident. I found out when my insurance company called me to report a claim had been filed. I was shocked, why hadn't First Texas Honda called me to discuss this? I called First Texas Honda to discuss the issue, but never got a live person, and so left multiple voicemails, as did my insurance company, and for days neither me nor my insurance company received a response about this issue. When they finally called me back, I learned they thought I put over 2,200 miles on their loaner, which is just... remarkable to say the least. Due to First Texas Honda taking longer than quoted to repair the vehicle I did have the loaner longer than anticipated because I ended up leaving for a short business trip (by plane, not loaner!), but the loaner was in my driveway most of the time. I put less than 100 miles on this car. I told them it's poor process and lousy customer service to file a claim a month after an issue and not let the customer know right away. The person I spoke with claimed they called me 30 minutes after I dropped off the loaner to discuss the damage with me and left me a voicemail. I didn't recall this happening so I even checked my phone records... no phone call from First Texas Honda occurred after dropping off the loaner. I asked them to double-check their records, as there was just no way I could have put anywhere near 2,200 miles on a car, and to speak with the manager about what could be done. They didn't call me back. I had about $1,800 worth of brake repair and maintenance done on this visit. Coincidentally the battery died within a week of getting the car back. I don't blame them for the battery, but it was another one of those, "We'll I just got the car back and then this happened" moments. It's been about two months since I got my car back. My insurance settled with them. My breaks still squeal. If you let First Texas Honda give you a loaner car, take a photo of the mileage and do your own video walkaround of the car... don't accept you and the guy with the clipboard walking around the car and when he sees a bumper scratch, go "Oh, yeah that's fine, we don't care about things like that". Yeah, they do. Also don't just drop off the loaner and let them take you into the building to pay. Insist the loaner be inspected when you return it and get it in writing that everything is OK. Is this a hassle, an extra step, a few more minutes of your time? Yes, but it's time well spent. Learn from my mistake. My wife and I have an 11 month old and are in the market for a new minivan. The loaner I drove was very nice, Honda makes a great product. I can tell you where we won't be buying it or having it serviced. read more

The only good thing about this place is continental cafe. Service they provide is terrible. First of all they try to upsell. My other car was 30k miles and guy was trying to sell me 1 thousand dollars checkup. Car was only 4 years and he wanted me to change transmission fluid and whole bunch of other things. Then I took my other car for maintenance. Oil change and tire rotation - $97 ! WTF? Ok, for that money I expect top notch service. Meanwhile, 2 days after light comes up in the car "Low tire pressure". Seriously? I checked my tire pressure and front was 27 and back was 28psi. On the side of the door it says it supposed to be front: 33psi, back 30psi. Meanwhile in the card that First Texas Honda gave me is 32 psi both front and back. And we bought this car from them and it was its first maintenance... and the last one in this place. They charge a lot and do a very poor job. read more

This review is for service - we had an excellent experience buying a car here and would buy another car from them. Lost my car keys. Called for one replacement fob - told cost would be $288 plus tax and take over two hours. I asked why - told it's because it includes "mandatory" inspection of various things and a "complimentary" car wash. (Over $300 is an interesting definition of "complimentary"!) The car is a recent, very well maintained model and very clean - not in need of any of that, does need a key. Checked Consumer Reports who indicate most dealers say it takes 15-30 minutes. Exactly. It's actually a straightforward quick job for them so all this add on of unnecessary and unwanted time and services is literally them ripping you off. Absolutely dismaying attitude to customer service. So I recommend you buy your car here and avoid for all subsequent issues. read more

We took our beloved 2006 Honda Ridgeline to First Texas Honda for its annual inspection, but with 138,000 miles on it and the inspection showing it needed some costly repairs, we started looking at the newer models in the showroom. We sadly let go of our faithful old (but still great looking and running) truck to their excellent repair staff to fix up for a new owner, and negotiated a deal on a 2018 certified used Black Edition Ridgeline with all of the newest safety features we wanted and only 11,000 miles on it. Thank you to Jack Kresky our service repair manager for explaining to us in detail the work needed on our 2006 Ridgeline and e-mailing and texting photos to us of our truck's problem areas and their prognoses and estimates to repair. Thank you to Wayne Stribling, our salesperson and Product Specialist, for introducing us to our new truck, explaining features at length, never applying pressure, and being genuinely friendly and easy to work with. Thank you to Richard Smith, Finance Manager, who arranged our truck loan, prepared trade-in papers and sale papers and also answered weekend questions quickly and cheerfully. Thank you to Mike Hausen, Product Specialist, for demonstrating/explaining all of the great new features, electronics, essential functions to operate and enjoy our new truck and offering to help with any questions that might come up later. And also thank you to Alex Herrera, Product Specialist, who dropped what he was doing to offer and provide technical assistance with another problem we encountered prior to our appointment with our salesperson. Let me begin by saying that I have always valued this establishment. After all, I bought my Honda here. I treasure my car and trust First Texas immensely. My maintenance checks are done here. I basically come here for all of my car needs. Last week I had my "check tires" light appear. I thought it was due to the change of weather. I knew I had an upcoming trip so in order to plan ahead, I went to the drive up maintenance area. No problem as the attendant quickly checked my tires and advised me that my rear right back tire was the lowest of all the tires. He adds air to the tires. That was clue #1. He assured me that my tires would be fine and off I drive off. Fast forward to 5 days later. The tire light goes off again and I began to get worried as I have an upcoming trip. No worries. I stop my the gas station and check all the tires. The rear back one looks low again. By this time it's Sunday and I am scheduled to leave on a trip at 6:25 am. I call ahead of closing and ask if they can help me at 3:30. Fine , no problem I was advised. I get to the shop at 3:20 and this time the attendant notices a nail in the tire. Oh great, I thought, I can get the tire patched and get on my way. Wrong. The attendant tells me they are not working on the cars any longer for the day. " it's too late come back tomorrow. But I'm leaving tomorrow, I explained. No luck. I ask for the manager. Manager tells me: we can fix it fix it for $45. What ? For a flat tire I reply. Yup. He said pay the amount or leave and go somewhere else. I panicked and decide to pay the exorbitant amount for a tire repair. Let me express my anger to you all at first texas Honda for misleading me then gouging me. This was so wrong ! I trusted you all explicitly. Now, I don't ! You treated a loyal customer so bad ! Please don't do this to other innocent customers!!!! read more

After many years of being a loyal customer to this dealership, I will no longer be returning. My service adviser, Craig Sager, has taken great care of me for many years. He is always honest and great to deal with as mentioned in my previous review. After 16 years, Craig is no longer at First Texas Honda.... For the first time ever, when I brought my Honda in for regular service, guess what? Yep, now they tell me there are tons of things wrong with my Honda. Well, I brought it to a trusted mechanic for a second opinion and none of these things turned out to be true. I was treated terribly by my new "service adviser". It saddens me after all of these years of being a loyal customer but I will no longer be returning to First Texas Honda. Nor will I continue to purchase new cars from this dealership. My most disliked purchase is a new car. I'd rather take a beating. I should say that we research large dollar items with due diligence. By the time we see a salesperson, we already know what the car, trade in and our down will be. So here we go to FTH, checkbook in hand! I communicated with FTH via email with a salesman and I asked to do a test drive of an Accord Hybrid on a Saturday. We preferred to come in the morning but he said too many people buy cars in the morning, that the afternoon would be a better time for an appointment, so we set 4pm for the following Saturday. We got there about 10 minutes beforehand and our salesman was paged. After 30 minutes (it was now 4:20) we had heard nothing more from anyone and finally we went to the receptionist to ask about our salesman. She looked around, paged again, but still no one came. We were then told he was with a customer and he had sent word back to see if we could come back another day or if another salesman could help us. We opted for the latter but weren't happy at all that the original salesperson didn't have the decency to at least come out and tell us himself. We tried to be understanding of the fact that we had what we believed was an appointment, so even if he was running a little late, we'd have been willing to wait, but we felt anything over 30 minutes was too much. Our new salesperson was nice enough but we both had the feeling that he was either new or in some way disinterested, not obvious, but subtlety so. Before we left we asked him if it was possible, in the interest of time, for someone to check out our 2007 Altima SE for trade in value. He basically said that it was unlikely due to the fact that everyone was too busy at that time and that normally, if we had come in the morning, which is always a better time since, it's slower! Duh. He did offer to send us some electronic form that we could fill out and return and they could do an estimate based on that info but we got the impression it would be a non-binding approximation. (As of this writing we still haven't received that form) During the test drive we had compiled several questions but there were a couple of times where he said 'I don't know" as the response or misinformation was given. I typically ask 1 or 2 questions that I've researched well enough to know the answer for certain to see if the salesman should reasonably be expected to know. For example, I asked about the navigation map updates cost and he said they were "free". Wow, that's a great selling point since our Altima map updates are $199 and my Ford updates are about the same. After returning home, I researched that online and found out this was not true. Navteq does charge for updates and they aren't any cheaper than Ford or Nissan. We were very impressed with the test drive of the car, so much so, that we were strongly considering writing a check to make a deposit and order one (since they didn't have another Hybrid Touring on the lot). Well, then there's the problem that we were told that we can't order a car. Something about the way they get cars from Honda, there are no special orders; they get what they get from Honda!?! We were very puzzled and just didn't understand. The salesperson told us that no car dealerships 'order' cars for customers, not Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc. Well, I beg to differ. My 2011 Fusion was not only specifically ordered by me (due to the combination of accessories I wanted) but I also received regular updates on the 'build' and ship progress! So we pressed him a bit more on how would a potential customer know when the car they want would be available to them? He said they can check ahead on some list to see what they're getting weeks or a couple of months in advance. He said that nothing like what I wanted was listed as far as he could see. So the next issue was the accessories/options I spec'd out on the Honda website. He had to take them to someone (somewhere in the 'back') to get prices for each accessory/option even though they were listed on the sheet I printed from the Honda website. We thought, oh good, their prices are going to be lower. Wrong. Each itemized accessory or option was HIGHER, and in some cases significantly higher. When we asked why they were higher than what Honda lists them as we never really understood the answer. Now we're seriously unhappy. We came to their dealership, checkbook in hand, appointment set, and due diligence done but we left very unimpressed and very disappointed in what we had hoped would be a positive car buying experience. I realize that some of the reviews here are extremely positive. I say great, you got what you needed and you were very happy about your purchase, good for you. Our experience was very disappointing. We have always been smart shoppers by doing a lot of research beforehand, asking questions and having higher expectations for a high dollar purchase. 1. Apparently being a "No-Haggle" dealership does not mean no BS. I'm fairly certain that they tried to bait and switch me, saying that the car I had come to see was sold between the time I spoke with them on the phone and the time I arrived at the dealership. Nine days later, it's still for sale on their website. 2. You could probably negotiate a better price elsewhere. One of the cars they suggested instead was actually a Toyota with 29k miles, which I took for a test drive. As it turns out, I like Toyotas better anyhow. I ended up buying a Toyota, but not from them... I found the same car with significantly fewer miles and a certified warranty for less than what FTH was asking. 3. Almost none of their used cars are labeled with prices or any other info. I'm pretty sure this is against Federal law. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/guides/usedcar-comply.shtm 4. The cars aren't well cared for. I test drove three different cars, two of which were supposedly "certified." All three had significant grime in various parts of the interior. One had dried coffee spots all over the dash, another had dried soda caked under the parking brake (and other places), and the third appeared to have been left in the rain with a window down. If they care so little about the parts we customers see, what about the parts we can't? Overall, I would be afraid to buy anything from these guys. read more

I can see from other reviews that my experience was extraordinary. I was attempting to trade-in my gas guzzling companion (big-ass SUV) for something that would make me feel less guilty and leave me more dough in my pocket (civic or hybrid). First Texas Honda was the only dealer in Austin with a used Civic Hybrid. But upon seeing their used car lot, I was pretty disgusted. The cars were dirty, with chipped paint-jobs and dings, and stained interiors. When I pointed out the damage and asked if they would fix it, he snapped back "Well, your car has scratches on it too." What the hell?! I soooo wished at that moment that my parents hadn't raised me as well as they did. So I decided to test-drive it anyway, partly because they had offered me the most for my trade-in. The whole ride, my sales guy sat there chewing gum and not saying anything of consequence. He told me nothing about the car, just told me it was a dream and that I should just go ahead and get it. I decide on a different car and he goes ahead to draw up paperwork even though we hadn't agreed on anything. All I said was I wanted to make sure he was going to give me what I wanted for my trade-in. So when he disappears to get paper for about an hour, no amount of nuts or juice pacifies my rage over why he just got up and left. After a long haggling deal, I realize that I'm not fighting the company or the manager for a good deal, I'm fighting him. This a**hole isn't even trying to get a sale. He is just looking contemptuously at me. He offers me way less for my car than previously discussed, then tells me I'm lying when I tell him what Kelley Blue book offered, and won't apologize for his accusation after I make him look it up online. So I ask for my keys back and it takes him another hour to find my car and give me my keys. I hadn't signed anything. Where the hell did he take my car? I got my keys and high-tailed it outta there. I should have known better. This guy had a soul-patch and slicked back hair. And I noticed he was the only sales rep in the entire dealership that didn't smile. Lucky me. So if you do go to First Texas Honda, just avoid the young, chubby, guy with the soul-patch, slicked hair, and bad attitude. I went to Howdy Honda, who offered me a similar deal but were extremely upfront with everything and much more pleasant. Personality totally counts! read more

My first visit to First Texas Honda was not a pleasant one. I went to get a scheduled oil change for my '98 Honda Civic about two months ago. After waiting in their plush lounge for over an hour on a Sunday, I was told that my battery was almost dead. I asked how much the repair would be, over $150 plus labor was a little more than I wanted to pay so I told the serviceman to only change my oil and I would buy and install the battery. 30 minutes pass, I paid for the service, started my car then noticed all of my radio presets and clock were blinking (a sign that my battery was disconnected). Thinking it was because my battery was checked, I drove off to run errands, parked, go to set my car alarm from my keychain but it will not work. Already tired from spending over two hours in a waiting room, I drive back to First Texas and ask to speak to a manager. I explained to Christy Heenan that my car was working in perfectly good order before I brought it in, and it seems the service department disconnected my battery without my permission causing my radio presets to disconnect and my car alarm to die. After she tells me she is not sure who fixed my car (hmm isn't this easy to know when your mgmt?) There is a slight moment when she begins to tell me that it could be my fault for owning an older car and these things can happen at random! I laughed and said couldn't it have something to do with the fact that these repairmen fooled with my battery and are not honest with their mistakes. I was sure they would go out of their way to try and resolve the issue. Instead they blamed their customer and tell me that because my car alarm is not a "factory installed Honda alarm" they cannot replace it!! I have never been treated so badly from a Honda dealership, let alone a business. I am infuriated that management is allowed to treat paying customers this way and no one is accountable! I am now left without a car alarm, one that I have owned since the day I bought my Honda (Yes I purchased the car & alarm at a Honda dealer) leaving my car devalued and at risk for theft. Recently, I am finding a barrage of emails in my inbox congratulating the newest promotion! They give all "valued customers" a free car wash to celebrate the hardworking service workers raise. Wow, what a trade off...I hope management gets fired instead of promoted. read more

I've leased with Honda for the past four years and my experience with the sales and service departments have been nothing but wonderful. During each lease, I have had consistent support from Holden with any kind of servicing or advice needed. This past weekend, I took my vehicle in for an oil change and take a look at the idle stop feature. With no issues at all, I was provided a rental that was well kept and acted as a wonderful substitute while my car was being serviced. Upon pick up, I noticed issue with the tire. I called a Honda representative to see if they could get my tire replaced, and Zach quickly got a new one on. The manager, Chris, listened to my frustrations and he found a reasonable solution in helping me with this situation. I cannot thank them enough for hearing me out and I feel well cared for after every interaction with first texas honda. Once again I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Of course, the car was not on the lot and he could not give me any specifics...but he had a bunch of other vehicles at a similar price point that he would like to show me. The recent airbag recall forced my hand, I dropped off my car at 7am Thursday. I was told it would take half a day to a day & that they'd call me at the phone number I'd given them. 10am Friday, I had yet to receive a call, so I rang them up to discover that my car was in fact, ready. If that was the case, why didn't they notify me? I arrive and believe it or not it took 30 minutes to get my car back. I was directed to the gentleman who had taken my car the day before, he had another customer whom he was with. At the same time, I'm just sitting there with countless other employees fiddling their thumbs. Any of who could easily have given me the paperwork to sign and my car keys. This process of being helped ONLY by the individual who initially saw you is not efficient or convenient. When it's my turn, unprompted- he immediately said the number he called did not go through, I had him repeat it to me. He was missing a digit, which is strange since the woman I spoke with *prior to the pickup) had my correct phone number. The car was ready the previous evening, they could have made more of an effort to contact me. I informed him that I was due for an oil change, but since Honda phones aren't able to call my number, I'd best be served getting the service done elsewhere. It gets worse. I was directed to go outside and my car would be driven around front in a few minutes. I do as I'm told, 5 minutes pass. By this time I'm already annoyed and decided to walk back into the office. As I made my way to the front door, I see my car parked off in the corner. The keys were in the ignition, any village idiot off the street could have walked up and driven away with my car. I bought a car here in 2008. It wasn't a very good experience. The sales man was slimy and pushy. I knew in my gut that I should've gone elsewhere, but I didn't. Having brought eight cars in my lifetime, I've learned this is just part of their game, sadly. My brand new car had a lot of problems after I bought it, and I wasn't treated very well. I got this you've bought the car, so we don't need to worry about you as much treatment. That may have not been their intention, but that is how it made me feel. The worst thing that can happen to you after you buy a new car is to have major mechanical problems with it. A Honda? Who would've thought?? They second worst thing is to watch the customer service go down the drain after you've signed the paper work. After several trips to the dealer for service to fix the problem, I complained to the general manager. That didn't do much good. They gave me the usual BS excuse with a smile that most dealerships give to their customers. They kept the car more than I did the first month, but they managed to finally fix it by replacing numerous parts. It is now water under the bridge, but I will never forget that experience and the way it made me feel. My biggest complaint about their service department is their prices. Before I ever have anything done to my car other than oil changes, I call all the local dealers to ask about prices. So many times I've found that First Texas is the most expensive, and in many cases by quite a bit. For instance, I needed to get my remote key replaced. First Texas wanted over $100 for the key and programming. I went to another dealer 15 miles away and they charged me $40 and gave much better customer service. I have had the same experience when it came to having my brake pads changed. The other dealer was cheaper than this one. It pays to shop around, trust me. I still use this dealer for the occasional oil change or inspection sticker out of convenience only. The old location and new location are no more than five minutes from my house. After my initial experience, trips to the service department have ranged from good to just OK. Some visits are better than others. No Integrity: This dealership has the worst management and is not built on the right principles. Jeff Cox told us that he was going to match a deal found at a different dealership if we came to First Texas Honda. We drove all the way there only waste our time and find out they were off by $1000.00. They have no respect for a customers time or money. I will never ever step foot in this dealership again. Don't believe what the sales team tells you, they just want you to come into the dealership and will do/say anything to do so. We had been speaking to Jeff on the phone and via text most the day hence had confirmed that they would match the price of the car beforehand, I wish he would have respected our time and had spoken with the manager before hand to discuss the whole matching situation alas we wasted more than an hour at the dealership before they even told us that they wouldn't be able to make the deal. Never again. If I could give no stars, if I could. **UPDATE**: Genny thank you for your comment but I would like to disagree with it for the below reasons. Jeff Cox already had known competitive out-the door price we received from your competition. He had agreed to match it which was the only reason why we even drove all the way to that dealership. Either way, we drove to San Marcos today and got the brand new car at that price from dealership which operates on much more integrity. They respected us, they were very efficient which is appreciated. As soon as we got to Gillman Honda, the sales rep had the car ready for us along with the agreed upon cost agreement. (There were NO additional cost at Gillman Honda to the out-the-door price like your dealership claimed they would do). I would like to say that for a dealership that likes to advertise Haggle free and Hassle free services, First Texas Honda was definitely a lot of Hassle. :/ read more

I took my 2010 Honda Accord in for a recall for the airbag infiltrator. I had made an early appointment around 9 am. So I went by to drop it off at 9 am and they told they would call me when it was ready. About an hour before CLOSING, I went back up there to get my car after receiving no phone call back, it had turned out they did not have the parts for my recall and that my car had just been sitting at the shop all day. I had asked why hadn't they called me sooner especially when I had been carless all day. They said "We have been busy all day", that certainly was not the excuse I wanted to hear and so they apologized put me on a list and told me it would take a few weeks. A month and half had gone by and still nothing. I went up there again recently because my boyfriend had bought a used vehicle from them and so I figured since I was there why not check with them. I check with them and they showed me the list of recalls and I want to say I was nowhere near the top of the list of hundreds! The guy there had told me he would call me the next day to find out and see what he can do. A week had gone by and still nothing. So I called Howdy Honda.... They have the parts I needed, set an appointment for 2 weeks later, and my recall was done and overwith. I didn't mind that it took all day but my recall was done and now safe to drive. Now this is me informing those who are still waiting on the airbag recall. Call Howdy Honda, they have plenty of the recall parts, no waitlist. Just make sure to call first and check. read more

Customer service is nonexistent. I recently bought a 2003 honda civic off their bargain bin lot. What this means is a car was traded in, the dealership never touches it, but they appraise it at a dealership value and price it at a value that is about average for other dealerships selling the car. Due to the car's low mileage it was about $2000 more than its nearest competitor. They didn't show me comparisons for my trade but i only got slightly less than I expected. Pros: They stand by their no haggle policy, they wont budge an inch so don't waste your breath. Same with your trade. I listed this as a pro because some people appreciate this and want the actual price to be on the window. And the prices are dealership fair, not private sale fair. Hence an extra star. Cons: First, I couldn't pay for the full value of the car with my credit card. I went in to sign the paperwork and found this out. It was suggested I drive back to Fort Hood and get my check book, 140 miles round trip. After some bull*&it reason about credit cards and liens, they finally admitted they didn't want to pay the 3% on a card. WOW. If you wont' budge on price at least let me get some points on my credit card. Stand by your product. Bargain bin or not this car is leaving your lot with your dealership name on the plate frame. They would not do a new/used set of tires, an alignment, an oil change, or even give me a full tank of gas. They will not touch bargain bin cars, the manager said it was because it would affect how low they could sell it for. While this makes sense from a bottom line point of view, they have their own service shop on the premises and they could at least get the car road worthy for a nominal cost to them. They could at least give the illusion that they care about customer service and their reputation as a dealership Their are plenty of dealerships who want to do business with the military. Note: As I did with my "Mediterranean Chef" review, I want to call out that this is a review I posted a little while back, but since my Yelp account got closed and therefore wiped out my former reviews, I wanted to repost in case this information ends up being useful to anyone. Update: My original rating was a one star. However, the owner of First Texas Honda ended up taking the time to send me a Yelp message explaining how the "lifetime oil program" helps a lot of customers and that he was sorry if I didn't find it useful. While the message wasn't stellar because it didn't effectively address my true concern (aka misleading sales rep as you will read about below)...and he was more explanatory than apologetic...I did bump up their review an extra star as there is something to be said for responsiveness to customer reviews. That said, here it is: Misleading sales rep. My rep kept chanting to me "FREE LIFETIME OIL CHANGE" as a perk to go with First Texas Honda, but it's a scam. Don't trust it! "Free lifetime oil change (with the purchase of additional service)" is what the huge banners in the office should really say. So not "free" at all. Here's how it really goes: If the oil change light went off in conjunction with another maintenance light (not anything alarming or necessary, just "advisable"), you MUST purchase this service to receive the "free" oil change. If the oil change light goes off by itself, you get the change for free. Keep in mind, however, that for every time the oil change light goes off (every 5 months or so), there is BOUND to be some "advisable" maintenance light that goes off with it. So you're very likely stuck with a bill way more expensive than getting an oil change at Jiffy Lube. The funny thing is, my rep kept emphasizing how upright First Texas Honda was with the "No Haggle" policy...what a hypocrite. read more

A definite caveat emptor applies at First Texas Honda. I went in for a service recall (and nothing else). But they nosed around anyway listing all the problems they could come up with (real and imagined). They said the steering fluid seal was leaking and it would cost $1000+. The next day I took my car to a mechanic that I trust. I told him the dealer said I needed this expensive repair. He even guessed the dealership based on the repair--other customers had gotten the same dishonest treatment. I asked him to check it out. He found nothing and surely most mechanics would relish a $1000+ repair (see my Yelp reviews to find this honest mechanic). Later, I posted about this in my neighborhood. More people knew about First Texas' Honda honesty-challenged track record. You should even consider going to someone else for (free) service recall work. read more

I've been going to First Texas Honda for service on my Civic Hybrid for oil changes and routine service for a couple years now. Never had problems before. But the last two times I went there, I realized it's time to go elsewhere. A few months ago, I went to to get my oil changed done. I also explained that my gas mileage was not as good as before so they said a software update would resolve the issue. As advised, I came back the next morning (7:30AM) to get the software update. The original service guy I dealt with was not there that morning so another person was helping me. She said there is NO SOFTWARE UPDATE available for my car! I explained that I was told there was an update but she said the database shows none is available. Total waste of time! Here's the final straw. I made an appointment with First Texas since my driver side window is now coming off track and has trouble rolling back up. When I show up for my appointment, they say "Oops, we don't have the part even though we said we would fix your car on Saturday. Come back Tuesday." No thanks! Again, First Texas Honda wasted my time. Anyway, I will be taking my car to Howdy Honda who confirmed they will have the parts on my appointment day and provide a rental car for me that day. read more

I could go into exact details of my negative experience, but at best it'll only bore you. I've reconstructed the events based on my e-mails with First Texas Honda (thank you Gmail). * I asked them to take a look at my brakes because they caused the car to vibrate. They didn't do it, and they finally offered to perform the work at half price ($200), which was the regular price for other shops. * They didn't call me back as promised (for a status update), and I ended up calling them only to find out that my car was going to be delayed at least another day due to parts. * They replaced the horn on my car because they claimed that the original one didn't work (when it worked two weeks prior). When they installed the new horn, it didn't work. I took it back two more times to get it fixed. This leads me to believe that the original horn may not have been faulty. I'm not a hard person to please, and customer service really depends on how people handle their mistakes. So: - They screwed up multiple times - They have high prices. Yes, I realize that they're a dealership, but the quality of the work for the price wasn't there. - The best they claimed they could do was offer work at half price as an apology, which is the normal price at other shops; they could definitely have done better. + They had timely responses to my complaints. + They attempted to resolve my issue, instead of just apologizing without doing anything about it. read more

I decided to give this place a shot even though there are some pretty bad reviews. My car needed a part replaced due to a recall. Over the phone I spoke to a woman who set up an appointment time with me for 12pm on a Saturday. I specifically asked her, "Ok, so if I drop it off at noon the work will be completed by the end of the day?" She replied yes so I arranged a ride from a friend to the dealership which is about 25 minutes from my house. I get there today and the service people told me they would probably need to keep my car until TUESDAY. Ummmm, not gonna work. They looked at me like I was nuts because I thought the work would be completed by the end of the day. I quickly informed them that one of their associates told me that it would be done by the end of the day. If these asshats can't even properly schedule someone or give them accurate information, I sure as hell wouldn't trust them with my car. They wasted my time and gas money. After I left I called Howdy Honda and luckily they seemed to have their shit together and made an appointment there instead. read more

This Honda dealer advertises the incorrect price all the time. More than ten years ago, they advertised a Honda Odyssey in the paper for $15,995 and when I get to the dealership, they said it was the price of a Civic. More recently, I've seen them advertise a Honda Odyssey for $23,997 and when I inquired about it, they said the person who entered in the prices fat fingered it. It was supposed to be $32,997. A few weeks later, I inquired about a Honda Accord and it was advertised for $18,597. Again, that was a misprint. What was the excuse this time? It should have been $81,597? If they could not get their act together, how can I trust them to purchase a car? What if the person who does my paperwork fat fingers the price? I wouldn't want to pay over $80K for a car that is $20K! They sure live by their name, First Texas Honda. From my experience, they are the "first" when it comes to the trade in value they give me on my old car. They are also the "first" when it comes to the price of the new car--always the highest among all Honda dealers. They are also the "first" in the number of advertising errors. I only have a few more cars to purchase in my lifetime, let's see if I can purchase my "first" Honda from them. Since they are "first", I'll just give them the first star on this review. read more

I used to swear by First Texas Honda. I've had Hondas since 2004 and always treated right... until recently. First Texas Honda used to be great. Over the last year, however, that has changed. Earlier this year, I had my windshield wipers changed out. Immediately after, whenever it rained they would hit each other. At first it was nearly every time the wipers moved, then eventually it became more intermittent. I did not have time to go take care of it since I was starting a new job and buying a house, so I just lived with it during the very rainy months. But then when I brought my car in again, I told the technician about the problem, he had me run the wipers for a minute, they didn't hit each other, so he "couldn't diagnose it without seeing the problem" and nothing was fixed. This past weekend it was raining and the wipers hit each other so hard that they pulled away from the windshield and now don't sit right on the windshield at all. EVERY time they're used, they make a noise. My tire (and spare) was flat so I had it towed to First Texas back in January. They fixed it without a problem, or so I thought. The last time I brought my car in for regular maintenance (and to have them fix those windshield wipers) I was told that they couldn't rotate all of my tires - one of them has a stripped stud on the hub and it needs new lug nuts. I was quoted $300 to fix it and when I questioned how it got stripped in the first place, the technician implied that it was the fault of whoever put the tire on last... until I told him that they were the last ones to take care of it (and, in fact, have been the only ones to touch my tires in the last several years). Then the party line became "it just happens". After a lot of noise from me trying to get them to fix their mistakes, the best they could do for me was 25% off, a $25 credit on the next service, and a $25 gift card. However, as I stated to the service rep, I do not have confidence in the dealership to fix things correctly. They may see it as a nice offer, but I see it as still asking me to pay a significant amount of money so they can screw things up again. I'm going to try to talk to them one last time - I'll let them try to fix their mistake and win my trust back, but I won't pay them $200-300 to do it. It's a real shame because in the past, First Texas Honda had served me well. So much so that I used to look at the new cars whenever I brought my car in for service because I know my Fit will need to be replaced in the next few years and I would likely be getting a Honda. However, in the last year or so, the service quality and my trust in the dealership's service has eroded and I am now putting Hondas at the bottom of my list of preferred cars. read more
