Most of the food was 3-star quality but the entire visit was marred by 3 problems: 1. The "million dollar bacon" was burned BLACK and tasted like carbon (see picture). Between, cook, expeditor, and server at LEAST 3 people handled the dish and nobody thought to call BS on serving it to a customer. Total lack of standards and quality control 2. The server dropped an order of heavily-buttered toast down my back. She said she'd right back with a wet towel but we never saw her again. My coat is ruined (see picture) 3. The lobby was a mob cluster the whole time we were there. Really poorly designed flow with both a cashier and a hostess sharing the same space as well as allowing 20-30 people stand in the restaurant who were waiting for tables. We literally had people's butts bumping into the back of our heads through the entire meal. I met up with a college buddy for breakfast on my way home from the celebration of life for his wife. This place is great! It really is. Lots of options. Very hipster feel with the different toasts and the Açai Bowls and all that. Met up with my Bi^&ches Who Brunch gals, even though this place doesn't serve mimosas. The menu looked so great we were ok foregoing our brunch ritual. First - you should use the Yelp Wait list feature. When entered my name, just as I left my house, there were 14 parties in front of me. Wow! Pulled into the parking lot and the place was bursting at the seams. Went in to the host stand and told them my name and that I was on the wait list. Said that there were just a few parties ahead of us. Within less than 10 minutes, we were seated in a roomy booth. Seriously and awesome option. They bring a carafe of water and a carafe of coffee to your table and there are lots of options to make your coffee just to your liking right there on the table. So many scrumptious looking items on the menu, it was hard to choose. I selected the season Elote Corn Hash with a side of toast and them the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes to share with my seatmate. She chose the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy. Hmmmm. Now I'm a sausage gravy snob and I did try the turkey sausage gravy, and while it tasted just fine, it was not for me. Nothing wrong with it, just like I said, I'm a gravy snob. At least you could tell it was fresh made and not some canned or powdery mix. The corn hash was good. I asked for my eggs over easy, and they were really a bit over medium/hard. I didn't especially taste anything special about it being Elote corn, but it was still good. The corn tortillas that come with it are cooked slightly but yet still soft and pliable. The toast? Good lord, that was some goooooooood toast. Thick sliced of nutty and grainy bread, lightly toasted. It was heaven! The lemon ricotta pancakes were good too. I didn't really get a taste of ricotta in them, though. The lemon curd on top was delish. It was a perfect dessert type of end to brunch. We all agreed we need to come back and try more items. I will say that in the 8 years I've lived in Chattanooga, the breakfast game has definitely been increased. Lots of great options for breakfast/brunch on a weekend. I'm a fan. read more

Based on these reviews, I was expecting a lot more when I visited this brunch joint. When I arrived, the waitress gave our table a free pot of coffee (a definite plus) along with sugars and creams. I ordered a grapefruit juice (for $3 it was small and off-tasting). Next, I ordered the pesto chicken kale salad. Although it looked great, there were about 4 pieces of kale in the whole salad and dressing drenching the rest of it. My friends ordered the egg chicken hash (she said it was over seasoned) and my other friend ordered the pancake meal with bacon (which she enjoyed). Service was ok- not super friendly or attentive. Amazing! So many options! I'm gluten and dairy free and this is the first place I've been to in a long while that had tasty options for me! I had salmon eggs Benedict on gluten free toast with a side salad! I also had a free juice called the morning meditation! Omg! So yummy! Hubby had biscuits with sausage gravy with potatoes and eggs. He said it was the best gravy and biscuits he's had at a restaurant. Service was amazing and our server was so sweet and took time to explain the menus. We loved First Watch. Fun and bright atmosphere for brunch. Our waiter was very attentive but not to the point of being annoying, ha, you know what i mean. Hubby got the breakfast tacos. I got the breakfast hash and my toddler got a huge Belgium waffle. We enjoyed everything. We also loved that they left a coffee pitcher and water pitcher at our table to help ourselves. The only give away that this is a franchise is that they don't have fresh cream for coffee. They have those disgusting little pods that sit at the table. Great food and a very nice atmosphere. The decor really captures the feeling of the north shore. The staff is always very friendly. Now for the good part... the food. We've been on several occasions and the food is always fresh and yummy. We went the first week it was open and had an ordering snafu but they corrected it immediately and I know they were still working out the kinks. They seem to be running more smoothly now and even on busy Sunday lunch time got a seat within 20 minutes. All other times we maybe had to wait 5 minutes because there is a lot of seating. They are only open until 3 being a breakfast/brunch/lunch place but it is oh so good. read more

The third First Watch I've visited in the area, and I'm happy to say that the food here doesn't disappoint. Brought my besties from out of town here for a mid week visit. Cheerfully greeted and seated very quickly. Thanks to the Yelp app I knew there wasn't going to be a long wait so I didn't need the wait list this time (these places are usually packed with a bit of a wait especially on weekends). The decor is slightly different here compared to the other locations with a more "urban" feel. Lots of options available with everything on the menu, both breakfast and lunch items available open to close. The food, as usual for First Watch, was great. Everything from monster-sized pancakes to omelets, to salads, gives you the feeling that these guys go to great lengths to make sure you're eating the freshest foods that are locally sourced. Please keep in mind that since your meal is being prepared from scratch, it takes a few minutes extra (no eggs from a bag here) to arrive, but it's worth the wait! read more
