Very cool brunch place with an interesting operating philosophy. As can be gleaned from the name, this place is only open until about 2:30 every day. They focus on a variety of breakfast and lunch options, with a special emphasis on adding a healthifying twist (yup that's a word, trust me I'm a scientist). Found this place through the Yelp app and decided to give it a shot as I was in the area running some errands. I soon figured out that this is a chain place with about 150 locations as of this writing. Still, means they must be doing something right. They're located in a huge plaza but going there on a weekend around brunch time meant the Publix shoppers taking up a large amount of the strip mall parking. Still, wasn't too bad and I found a spot in a few minutes. Actual wait was pretty short for me, as I was a party of one. The host offered me a seat at the communal table, which I thought was a cool idea, but decided on just a regular table. Immediately took a liking to the Floridian french toast. Came out very quickly and tasted great. They use sourdough bread for the toast, which made for a lighter and less sweet base, but I was able to counter that with maple syrup, of course. There was also fresh fruit in the form of kiwis, bananas, and strawberries. Some of the strawberries were a little dark but still tasted great. The kiwis actually turned out to be a little odd, as they didn't seem to belong to the rest of the dish, but appreciated their presence anyways. The star of the meal was the fruit compote. Dipping a little bit of french toast in there was heaven! Highly recommended. And definitely more than enough to get you full. I am not a small guy and I still couldn't quite get through it. Good value for 8-9 bucks for sure. Service was impeccable. The waiter was always there when I needed him despite it being very busy. Answered any questions but knew when to be unobtrusive. Host staff were also very friendly. Definitely a good place to look for now that I know it exists. It may not be a down home diner, but still a tasty place to eat with a lot of locations. I felt like an inconvenience to dine there yesterday. When I saw the host, he told me there would be a wait for inside seating, but no wait outside. I specifically asked if there was a server out there, and he said yes. When he sat me, it look the server 15 minutes to get me. When the server got there, she said 'I'm not your server, but I'll take your order'. I also told her I may place a to go order too later on. However, the server NEVER came back. The food runner brought my food to me. 30 minutes after I ate, I left, never seeing my original server or the one server who first came to me. No one came back to me about the to go order either, which was more sales missed out for them. Overall, it was an awkward experience and I won't be back to this location. read more

When the place you stop in for breakfast exceeds your highest foodie standards and the staff is equally pleasant, well, you have to say something. This restaurant understands that serving great food in a pleasant environment is not the only thing a restaurant does. This place gave me a 'Ratatouille' moment when the Beef brisket hash, a breakfast special, was served up in a small iron skillet. The juice was freshly squeezed, the coffee was exquisite, the meal so beautiful in presentation that I can honestly say it tasted as good as it looked. I first came to First Watch this week and it was a great experience. My server told me her name was Camila and she was one of the best servers I've ever had in south Florida. Made sure my beverage was always food and very patient. I am extremely picky when it comes to breakfast food but she explained the menu and provided plenty of options that would suit my difficult dietary needs. I will absolutely return to this location because the French toast was excellent and the service was smooth and superb a combination very hard to find. read more

She's short with you, doesn't bring you everything you've ordered, and only checks back in when she's handing you the check (regardless if you wanted to order more or not). This is my favorite breakfast place in the whole world I always have the best service every server that has attended my table has always been upbeat and super attentive. My favorite dish is the works omelette they put sour cream on top of it and it has ham , sausage, mushrooms and lots of cheese It's really delicious. This was our 2nd visit to the newest First Watch in DFB and there is a noticeable improvement over the first visit 2 months ago. The seem to be jelling. Food consistently good as compared to Boca Location. Servers Jessica and Kate are responsive, friendly & efficient. I enjoyed the Greek all white omelet with spinach tomatoes black olives and lite feta crumbles with greens. Pot of coffee on table & bottle of water were nice. Shared part of a carrot cake pancake which is totally yummy with carrot & raisin mixed in - like having dessert for breakfast. I have been frequenting the abundance of First Watch restaurants popping up in the area recently, and I have to say the trend never changes. The food never comes out correctly the first time, or something will be hot and something else really cold. Countless times I have received my plate without an English muffin. My food has always been corrected the second, sometimes third time around but it shouldn't have to be sent back to begin with. This is a huge disappointment considering their menu is very eclectic and delicious. But you just can't skimp on the food quality. The pancakes will also either come out just under or pretty well done. The First Watch in Mission Bay location has had a year to tune it's kitchen staff and the food quality there isn't up to par either. Hopefully this new restaurant will learn from everyone else's mistakes and start to become more attentive to the food instead of the speedy service they try to achieve. It's not speedy if it's not done correctly. I will say though when the food does come out right it's really delicious. read more

If a restaurant experience was just based on food, this place would be 5 stars. But due to the mediocre service I experienced here two Saturdays in a row, I'm giving it 3 stars. During our first experience, my boyfriend had the farmhouse skillet hash and I had the açaí bowl and we split a side of the million dollar bacon and all were delicious! We were impressed with the high quality food. What stunted our experiences today and last week was the service. Last week, our waitress came to our table three times total. Once to take our order, which it took longer than usual so we already knew what we wanted to eat so we went ahead and ordered. Once to bring our food out and then once again to bring us our check. There was no checking back on us to see how our meals tasted or if we needed anything else like a refill on drinks. She did the absolute bare minimum which we noticed since we both worked at restaurants in college. Today, I had the avocado toast and my boyfriend had the gravy and biscuits. Again, both dishes were tasty and very filling but we weren't greeted within 5 minutes of sitting down nor was our server attentive. The food tastes better than you'd expect for a chain but the service is just about what'd you expect- nothing special. I still would recommend First Watch as a hearty, reasonably priced breakfast to have but I would warn other guests to not have high expectations for the waiting staff. read more

First Watch has delicious food, homemade and fresh. The wait times are usually long esp on weekends. There is a HUGE difference in customer service between locations. We don't go to the east Boca location anymore (not very friendly) but the Deerfield Bch location is excellent! Trisha (manager) is efficient and very friendly remembering us after just a couple visits and Yvonna is very warm and sweet with an infectious smile and lovely attitude! These two make us want to come back weekly which we have now made a tradition because of them and the good food:) read more

I went for breakfast on a Friday during holiday Christmas - New Year week. Therefore every seat was taken but I was lucky and didn't have to wait. Service was quick, very diner-like, which I like because hey, this isn't a prime steakhouse and the place was very busy. I ordered the FrenchToast with tropical fruits slices all over it. Delicious. I love the fact they just put a carafe of coffee on your table, no waiting for waitress to come by for a fill up. I have never seen this before. I love this place for breakfast; I have one in Deerfield Beach near work and the one on St Andrews Blvd in Boca Raton. Everything is organic and freshly made. I usually order one of the omelets such as Ham & Gruyere or the inspired Italian or one of their other egg breakfasts if not, the avocado toast is yummy. I also enjoy their freshly made muffins which is a different variety all the time. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars has nothing to do with the quality of the food but the fact that I love coffee and prefer a strong Cuban version such as cafe con leche. I always have a great experience when I eat at this First Watch in Deerfield. I live in Tamarac, and I have been to many First Watch locations, but I just love the Deerfield store. Candice was my main server today and I have to mention her because she was so attentive and personable. But that just seems to be the culture of all the workers there. They all seem so happy and personable. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy this restaurant..... the staff. The food is fresh and delicious. Today, I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine.... yum yum. They had no problem switching out the English muffin for multigrain bread. Hmmm.....I have wanting to try the Elevated egg sandwich tho. Maybe in my next visit.
