I'm giving First Watch 4 stars instead of 5 since their glass ware was extremely dirty. They said it was due to the oils in lip stick etc and the auto-dishwasher could not remove the stains. ...sorry, poor excuse! If this is the issue, hand wash and polish the glasses. We chose to go cups. Despite the stained glasses, the flatware and plates appeared to be thoroughly cleaned. Four stars is shared between very friendly and attentive staff and good, fresh food! We chose hash and a couple varieties of pancakes (blueberry and bacon and cheddar). I asked for spinach and mushroom in the hash, they were very generous with mushroom, but there was not a single trace of spinach. It was also supposed have bacon, but clearly they substituted my bacon for mushroom w/my knowledge. I accepted since I idnt need bacon anyway :/ Overall, nice experience. Very relaxed and warm setting. Several choices on the menu. Oh and the Day Glow fresh squeezed juice is a hit and must try! (Carrot, orange, lemon and ginger). read more

I love that this place has so many healthy options. Also, as a person who doesn't like potatoes but loves greens, I love that they offer mixed greens as a side with your breakfast. Per the menu, you can switch those to potatoes. The first couple times I came here, I had some rather well done poached eggs (still good so I didn't say anything or send back) but last week mentioned prior to ordering. My waitress put down "soft poached" and they were perfect. I also love their Kale Tonic green juice. read more

Gosh, this place is great for a quick breakfast or brunch before a big day of errands. And the staff were *very* nice to me! One blueberry whole-grain pancake, coffee, tax, and tip rang up at $12.64 total. Great fuel for the day. I had a small issue and my server handled it with grace: I ordered an "iced coffee" and it was pre-mixed with milk, which I did not expect. Most likely my fault for not specifying no cream or sugar, and the server made it right without hesitation. read more

The wait was a little long, but that's to be expected with such a popular place. We ordered the chickichanga, avacado toast, acia bowl and the eggs benedict. My only complaint would be that the food took a very long time to come out. But when it did it was great. The toast had just the right amount of crisp and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The service was okay, definitely not stellar but not bad. They were extremely busy so you could tell that the servers were really moving. Down grading my review from a 5 star to a 3 star because this was a night and day difference from our last visit. My wife's waffle came out cold, to the point where it didn't melt the butter they put on it. I ordered sunny side up eggs this time because the over easy eggs I ordered last time were a little overcooked for me. I was thinking that maybe it was my fault for ordering the wrong thing. But of the two yolks I got on my sunny side up order I lost over the equivalent of one to being overcooked. My "toast" was anything but toasted. One piece had no brown on it at all and the other 3 pieces it was barely detectable. My banana and granola pancakes had bits of cranberry through out, and my daughter's blueberry pancakes had chocolate chips in it and was apparently undercooked in the middle. Our server offered to fix the eggs when she saw the pile of overcooked parts I had pulled out, but I told her not to worry about it because honestly I didn't want to wait any longer to eat. I can only guess that the kitchen was way too rushed or didn't know what they were doing. At this point I'm not sure we will be back with thee quality control issues. read more

I really love this place especially for breakfast and brunch. The food is great and you never have to worry about where it's from because it's all local. The only downside is that because it gets quite busy - you do have to wait a bit to be served (like most places) and getting your waiters attention is also not that easy. I did really enjoy it however. Parking is also fantastic and so is the location. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, brunch, or even lunch. Be mindful they do close early. read more

Did the online waitlist and it asked for us to check in 1 hour, okay no worries. Got in and waited an ADDITIONAL 30 MINUTES for a table... isn't this what the online waitlist is supposed to prevent?! We finally get seated and our water cups on the table were supposedly clean, stated by waitress... but clearly were not as they had fingerprints and residue on the top and residue inside. Keep an eye on your cups before being served. It is clear the kitchen is shortstaffed as others were waiting for a good 45 minutes for food, yes we asked the people next to us who looked just as tired of waiting as we did. We requested our food to be taken to go as we did not expect to stay there for more than 1 hour and we have already been there for an hour and 30 minutes and yet to still have seen food. We received food when the table next to us was still waiting. We got back home only to find that the biscuit from the biscuit and Turkey gravy I ordered was missing! At least the Turkey gravy goes well on toast. Very disappointed with first visit to first watch. read more

Wow I was impressed. I came here on Friday and got the am superfoods bowl. At $9 it was very filling and full of fresh fruit on top of granola, and a very delicious chia pudding with BlackBerry jam. It came with multigrain toast with a perfect amount of almond butter. There is a huge menu full of healthy options that dot sacrifice flavor. Service is good and the place is clean. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at 9:00 am and there was no wait (for 2 of us). The food is always good and the atmosphere very nice while being casual. It is one of our "go to" places. No clue how the food is...tried to go here for brunch today, but they kept us waiting for a table. My wife is 7 months pregnant and we just walked in. The host asked if we joined the waitlist online (we did not) and he told us it would be 30-35 minutes. Online it was showing 20-30 mins. After 45 mins we went and asked and were told it would be another 20 mins because people who were joining online were bumped in front of us. The host's excuse was he has only been there two weeks, but if he just told us to join online we would have had a table. My wife was in tears from not eating anything all day and being pregnant. My brother and I came to First Watch because we had a bogo for joining the e-club. On a Wednesday morning when MCPS was off for the day, it was about a 15 min wait for a table. They were swamped with customers so service was a bit on the slow side. Food was fresh, not overly salty or wet like most brunch places. Great display and good portion sizes. I'm a big fan of their berry jam. It's a good place to catch up with an old friend. No loud background music. Restroom is single stall (M and F) and can be a wait to get in. Overall, satisfied with our meal. Lacking a bit in customer service--didn't even get a "thanks" or "come back again" after paying the bill. read more

Went to this location at 9am on a Sunday morning. No wait but 15 minutes later there were many people waiting. Ordered the waffle with berry compote. Great taste. My wife ordered the Floridian French toast which came with bananas and kiwi. They serve the syrup warm which is a great added touch. I had coffee to drink which was smooth and full of flavor. I actually bought a bag of coffee to take home. Our waitress was so good and attentive. Came by to check on us just the right amount. This was a great healthy place to go after a day of hiking! My friends and I loved the food and the inside of the restaurant was very inviting. I'm vegetarian and don't eat eggs, but there were still a couple of options on the menu for me to choose from. I got the Veggie burger and loved it! It was the first veggie burger I had where the patty didn't fall apart mid-way through my meal. My friends eat meat and had plenty of options to choose from. Like everyone else mentioned, there will surely be a line here if you go without calling. I recommend using the Yelp app to put yourself on the waitlist - it's pretty neat. When we got there, we had to wait another 10 min or so, which I didn't mind. I'm not sure if it's because I've had brunch in so many great places around DC or what, but I just thought this place was OK, nothing special. I got chickichanga which was pretty good - it had a little kick to it, which I enjoyed. It's basically a breakfast burrito with chicken and chorizo, served with fruits and potatoes. My boyfriend and I also got the cinnamon roll waffle to share. I think what made it great was the chocolate syrup which had some cinnamon and toasted pecan bits in it. It was a little indulgent, but it was a nice thing to share. For the most part, I think it's generic brunch food you can probably make at home except for a handful of things on the menu. If you're like me and enjoy trying something new everywhere you go, this might be a bit too boring for you. Also, the service was pretty slow. I understand how busy they were, but we didn't get our water for quite a while and ended up asking another waiter - almost towards the end of our meal. We both ordered juice, which was maybe why she didn't think to bring us water? But either way, she completely forgot and didn't even mention it when we were getting ready to pay. My party of 6 (2 adults, 1 teen/adult menu, 3 children) attended First Watch Gaithersburg on July 5th, 2016. We arrived at the restaurant at 1:40, and we were seated almost immediately. I will only review MY food and experiences: Our waiter (I don't know his name) was very patient with me and charismatic. I got a small cranberry juice (semi-noticeable in the picture) and also drank the provided water. I ordered the Trifecta with two pancakes, scrambled eggs, and turkey sausage. Now, DISCLAIMER- I was pretty scared of the pancakes being called "MULTIGRAIN"; I am NOT a health nut and I don't like whole wheat things, so I was worried. But I got the plain multigrain pancakes and I can honestly say, they were DELICIOUS!! I actually loved the little seeds in them (hard to detect unless you see them in the pieces you've cut). The eggs were cooked perfectly for my palate, and the turkey sausage was plump and juicy. I'd love to come back the next time I visit!! read more

I started this review with 3 stars: Worst First Watch I've been to. Service is slow, we only saw our waitress at the beginning and again only when the food came out. Every establishment I've been to is always so busy, but their food always comes out quickly and delicious. This location however, we waited for our food for at least 20 minutes!! Food came out mediocre. I had the barbacoa benedict, which was okay. First time I thought a dish as First Watch was just average. It was advertised with avocado, but it came it with two of the smallest half circles on opposite corners of the bread. No other avocado to be seen in the rest of my benedict. Not happy with my experience today at all! I'm changing it to 4 stars only because the manager was a really nice guy who truly cares about how the his establishment is run. We really just wanted to get out of there but the hostess called the manager over and he heard our experience and wanted to make our experience better as we left. We didn't tell the server how we felt about the food so we were really okay with it, but he took care of us. We really appreciated his hospitality and kindness! read more

You can download their First Watch app to wait in line before arriving there to save your spot in line. When you do wait in line in the app, and arrive to the restaurant, you'll have to let the front staff know as well that you're in line on the app so they can make sure it's in sync with the system and they have you accounted for. The most recent visit, I went with my two other friends. We ordered the pesto power bowl, trifecta, and the elevated egg sandwich. The pesto bowl and trifecta came out first; for some reason, a lot of the times when eating here, the food comes out luke warm/cold instead of hot as if it's been sitting out for a bit. The elevated egg sandwich came out about 15 minutes later when my other friends were already finished eating their meal. I had to ask an employee where my sandwich was and it wasn't until after I asked that they said that there was an issue in the kitchen. Despite the mishap, the sandwich and food was still good, an improvement over the previous encounter! read more

Woah this place totally shocked me. Amazing fresh food!! The only reason I might give it a 4 was because the floors were super slippery, I definitely would have fallen if I wasn't careful. Aaand the service wasn't perfect but these things happen. I got the trifecta with the Belgian waffle. The waffle was so soft and the berry compote that came with it was amazing. I didn't get my syrup right away so that was a bit annoying. But our waiter was very nice. My friend got the barbacoa with eggs Benedict (forgot the name, but it's on the summer specials menu). So that came out and the eggs were super overcooked so our waiter brought us a new one and it was on the house. We just wanted a new egg but he was very sweet. And the new one was INCREDIBLE!!!! Absolutely loved all the flavors and the barbacoa was on point! Definitely coming back to this place more often. It's the best brunch/breakfast in Gaithersburg I've had so far. Oh and the orange juice was seriously fabulous. It was freshly squeezed and I loved it. I want to try more of their juices. read more

People need to stop going out to eat if all they are going to do is complain about waiting for a table. :) The staff is super friendly and works really hard obviously considering how busy it gets. They are super fast with coffee and usually I don't mind waiting for the food if I can tell it is busy. I've never had to wait too long for the food. I always leave satisfied, and the food is delicious. Kristal has been my server on more than one occasion, and she is one of the most lovely people I've ever had take care of me at any restaurant. read more
