This was our first visit - we usually avoid chains. But, we have heard good things about this restaurant from friends and decided to give it a try. Once seated, we had really great service. I am always about the food, but I have to say that this is a pretty place. It combines modern and sleek with comfort. Tables are well spaced and there is a large window on the north side which makes it bright and open feeling (there is outside seating past that window). We were there at breakfast and I ordered the modern Croque Madame.My husband had the bacado omelet. The bacado omelet is on the regular menu (bacon, avocado and Jack cheese Topped with sour cream and served with a side of housemade pico de gallo.). The omelet (we ordered it minus the sour cream) was a well cooked bacon and cheese omelet (plenty of crispy bacon) with a slice of avocado on top. It was served with some excellent whole grain toast and strawberry jam. The pico was mainly tomatoes. It went well with the omelet, but really had no spice. There was also a better than average salad served with it - a very generous salad. Mixed greens with a light lemon dressing. Worked very well for breakfast. The star was the season Modern Croque Madame (Challah bread griddled with melted Cheddar and Monterey Jack, fresh tomato and crispy bacon, then topped with a sunny-side up egg, Parmesan cream sauce and fresh herbs. Served with lemon-dressed organic mixed greens). First - kudus to the kitchen for pulling off a PERFECT sunny side up egg. That is not easy to do. The yolk was liquid - a tiny poke sent a cascade of sunny yellow tastiness over the sandwich - the white was tender and fully cooked (no slimy bits near the yolk!!) with a little frizzled bit off crispy egg white at the edge. I would call it a masterpiece of egg cookery. The bacon and tomato filling - yummy. The Parmesan cheese sauce - tasty as heck. The salad - excellent (same as the one with the omelet). My only complaint was that the challah bread was a bit thick for me. I think someone with a young appetite would not complain. Still all in all, a great breakfast choice. We left happy. read more

Be warned, they apparently have virtually ZERO kitchen staff so its taking 35 to 55 minutes to actually get meals cooked and out to the tables. The WILL NOT tell you this unless you complain but it needs to be communicated up front before you get seated so you can decide if you want to wait an hour for your food. The servers are also reluctant to stop by and check on their tables because they know they get complaints. Honestly, I'd say you should pick a different restaurant for the time being because their staffing/service issues are terrible. read more

Just had a lovely breakfast. We were looking for a place that had healthy choices and this place was perfect. We had a farm skillet (market choice) and their special bacon. Loved it! Our cheat was a single lemon ricotta pancake. These were too heavy and gooey for our taste. Would totally come back next time we are in Grand Junction. read more

I'm a meat & potato's guy so I was a little discouraged by the turkey sausage in the biscuits & gravy but the dish was delicious. Eggs were cooked perfect & the potatoes were crispy & great. The chicken chop salad was fresh crisp, greens with lots of other vegetables and a very light refreshing dressing. The beef and havarti sandwich was excellent. Lots of flavor. Gotta come back and try other items. Love love breakfast foods, great big coffee cups, instead greedy tiny cups, with constant refills. And they leave a carafe coffee, so you didn't have to wave the waitress down constantly, for coffee drinkers. Love that the coffee is strong, nothing worst than watered down coffee, especially people spoiled like us where you are accustomed to European and Latin coffee drinking, where all coffee are made strong. I will never return to this ANGRY Neo-N--- RESTAURANT! I WAS GREETED BY AN ANGRY HOSTESS who made it a point to insist that every thing I touched, had to be cleaned. Rather harsh, since I was dressed in professional attire, and she was in jeans. I was sat in a separate room at a small table. No problem. I had a guest. Next, a woman with full tattoo sleeves, irritated APPEARANCE, took our order. The food gets the only star. Unique appearance and presentation, for Grand Junction. The juice came sugary and syrupy . Not a healthy drink, as expected. No comment. Yes, this is a harsh review, since as we were leaving, my conversation was heard by staff, speaking with my friend, we were met with an ugly glare from red haired cashier to waitress who gave a disrespectful wiggle, as if some silent code to each other, that our conversation was dismissed. I then made comment of relevance of tribe influence, on the art on her arms, as a compliment..... But she replied to my friend. I was furious to be asked for a tip after this insult. I gave 2.50 for 18.00 lunch. I hope other non anglo-saxon, non tattooed, respectful patrons, are not made to feel this disrespected, if they should enter this FIRST watch. It's my LAST VISIT! Hands down one of the best brunch/breakfast places in the city. They have lots of healthy options and fresh dishes. The omelets are great but the Chickenchanga is amazing. Hello Mesa County. Well I finally did it and tried Firstwatch. My brother and I stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday and boy was it the place to be. We were greeted and served by Terrell. It was our first time eating here so she recommended the Chickichanga. It was delicious. My brother got the avocado toast and basted eggs. Shockingly small amount of food for $66! $17 each for skillets that were cold undercooked SIDES of potatoes. SO tiny we were stunned. We left off eggs and cheese (can't have dairy) most restaurants accommodate by throwing in some extra veggies (we left off the most expensive ingredients and you can't throw in a few more inexpensive potatoes?) This was the size of a side of potatoes. I would not waste your money here, a stunningly not tasty small amount of food for so much money! Was visiting the area and had to drop a family member off at the airport early. Found this place on Yelp. We'd never heard of it, and did not know it was a chain....but the breakfast items sounded good. BOY WERE WE RIGHT! I'm sorry but the menu and cooking changes that came when First Watch took over the Egg And I don't stack up. My "Classic Benedict" came with a tomato hidden under the egg, (a TOMATO! for crying out loud) which I removed after the first bite. I don't know what the sauce was supposed to be, but it definitely was not Hollandaise. And to top it off, the whole dish was cool as a toad. I've only eaten at First Watch once since the change and I will certainly give it another try, but if the food doesn't improve I'm afraid First Watch is destined to become "Last Watch".
