We went for a family brunch to try out this place, and it was a mixed bag. Positives: The pancakes were very nice and crisp, and the kids enjoyed the bacons. Since the menu indicated the pancakes to be humongous, we just ordered one for our 2 kids (4 and 8) and it was sufficiently enough, along with the side of sausage link and bacon (they are charged separately though for $9!) We ordered tri-fecta with lemon ricotta pancakes for little extra, and healthy turkey (egg white omelette and turkey filling with whole grain toast). The $4 mimosas were nice, and the coffee was ok. I really liked their website menu which allowed for detailed nutrition info along with options to swap ingredients to adjust your calories intake. I find it very easy and useful for ppl on a specific diet and counting calories for their health goals! Good user experience. Our server was prompt and courteous, and took good care. The place was buzzing and there was a wait time of 1+ hr for indoor seating, so we chose to sit out as the sun provided plenty of warmth in the cold weather! Negatives: I would say there wasn't really any effort for social distancing for seating inside and outside, and the place was really packed with ppl sitting very close to each other. Also, the checkout and billing process is extremely inefficient as you are supposed to pay on the front counter; which is right at the main door with ppl coming and going out, and a huge line to follow up on with just one counter operating. Kind of creates a traffic. They can do better with tablet check outs at the table, but that is just my opinion. Even though this is a national chain, the menu is quite unique and changes with the season. We brought some folks from out of the country to this location for an American breakfast, and they loved it. Plates cleaned- which is hard to do with the portion sizes! We had the Florentine Benedict, Lox frittata, and the regular breakfast plate w eggs, meat and pancakes. Let me start by saying I have been to 2 other First Watch restaurants and I have never experienced the service I experienced here. I love the food here but the staff just couldn't keep it together, and I don't see myself going back to this location. This is a long review but detailed and necessary. First off, we get a table outside. It was a beautiful day. A waitress comes to the table and asks what we want to drink. She brings a coffee carafe without mugs. So she puts the carafe on the table and says she will be back with mugs and waters. 10 minutes later she is nowhere to be found. Another waiter comes and asks if someone helped us and I told him yes but she seemed to have disappeared. He got our drink order (2 coffees, 3 waters, 3 juices). Our first waitress never returned to our table and instead started helping the table beside us who arrived after. No "oh I'm sorry, so and so will be helping you today" nothing! Anyways, after another 10 minutes the 2nd waiter is nowhere to be found. So I ask the waiter at the table to our left to please bring our drinks and some coffee mugs. He brings them with sugar and cream immediately. Our other waiter still no where to be found. After about another 5 min, someone, who looked like a manager, asks if everything is alright I say we are still waiting on drinks and then in comes the our waiter with our drinks (but no waters). So the person, who I assume is the manager, walks away. I got the pineapple express which was supposed to come with a mint crystal rim. You can see in the picture below no mint crystal rim. My husband got the morning meditation but they were apparently out of beet juice so it was incomplete. This could have very well been a lie as I saw a table inside getting one with beet juice. Soooo, we finally order, by this time we are hungry, hungry not hangry. Please understand I am a very patient person and this place was really testing it. I ordered the egg white frittata rustica which comes with lemon-dressed organic greens. Keyword, lemon dressed. It was not only missing lemon-dressing on the greens, but also the cheese topping on my frittata and my side of ciabatta bread. My kid also gets his french toast without the powdered sugar and cinnamon or the side of berry compote. He asked our waiter for syrup and he said he would get it. Instead of waiting he asked the other waiter if we could get the one off of a nearby table. The syrup we asked for never came. We wait yet another 5 min for my husbands food. Guess what? It's cold. He ordered the smoked salmon benedict and it came COLD! His greens also without the lemon dressing. Instead of returning it and having to wait an eternity to get another he just ate it. To the waitress who brought his food I asked if I could get the dressing that comes on the salad since our lettuce was dry. She looked at me as if I had 3 heads and was like, "what kind of dressing do you want?" I said, "the one it comes with." She said it didn't come with one and that she could get something for me if I wanted something. Given her attitude and lack of knowledge of the menu I said nevermind. I was over it at that point. I ate my dry lettuce with my frittata which had a good flavor. I can only imagine how much better it would be if it was made the way it should be. Oh and did I tell you my husband and kid ordered the million dollar bacon which came out after we had to ask for it again. The couple beside us were surprised at the service with our table as well which was kind of embarrassing. They even think they got our million dollar bacon order because she ordered after us. We ate, my husband paid and we left. On the way out the hostess asked if everything was good. My husband said no. She didn't say anything or ask any questions she just asked credit or cash? I hate to say it but I won't be back to this First Watch. Nor do I think they care. Sadly, everyone's excuse these days are that they are short staffed or it's crazy in the kitchen. If that is the case then don't fill up the restaurant. Also, if you aren't happy with your job, find another. Make reservations on the weekend earlier rather than later. During the week eating here isn't as long of a wait. This is a healthy breakfast place which can be great. I wish the food was more flavorful and there was an option for a typical hearty breakfast. I can seem to find a food there I'm truly happy with since it seems like there is so much going on. I would rather eat elsewhere or wait for lunch on weekends. I've had times where My group has ordered all sides they requested ahead of time and it takes multiple times for the server to give us what we asked for even until the rest of the table has finished their meal. They had nice staff and our waiter was very nice and accommodating to our needs and questions we had about the menu/specials. My only complaint would be the wait on our food, it took quite a while for our food to be served and once it was served to us the food wasnt hot or even warm. Even though our food wasnt hot it still had a good taste. The frenchtoast was fluffy and toasted perfectly. The chorizo hash mixed with potatoes was good as well however I was expecting a more full plate of food for all the dishes. This was my 4th visit to First Watch, 3rd to this location. The food is pretty reliably good and I love the option for a breakfast that ticks the hearty box without necessarily inducing anxiety over the metrics at your next annual physical. I enjoy finding all kinds of whole grains and seeds and twigs all throughout the menu. I had the multigrain lemon ricotta pancakes. While tasty, I'd prefer a smaller portion -- and price tag. It just didn't feel like a $45 meal for the two of us. Also, you just want a really good cup of coffee when you go out for breaky! But theirs is just okay, with major points lost on the creamer. I hate eating at a table littered with wasteful tiny plastic half and half containers. Just give me an adorable little carafe with real cream! Finally, we waited a full 35 minutes for our food. Team work was happening--- took a little long to get to food and drinks and didn't ever get the spicy sauce we asked for but then again everything is different in light of Covid. Take it with some grace y'all. The drinks are fabulous, safe, and healthy. The food is the indulgence. You MUST GET get Million Dollar Bacon. Life changing, and had to take a moment of silence when enjoying all the perfect flavor profiles. Maple, cayenne lightly , smoked and then cooked , crushed black peppercorn-- want to replicate personally but they do it SO WELL. The other food was quite decent as well. I just left FirstWatch restaurant at Wendover. I can honestly say, I'm shocked to be leaving so disappointed. This is my 3rd time visiting. The prior two times, the restaurant staff was helpful, prompt and kind, And the food was delicious. I was shocked to see that such a pioneer restaurant in healthy food, and cleanliness, exhibited such disorder, and chaos during a time when most restaurants have stepped up their game in safety and professionalism. Issue arose when we first checked in, as the hostess positioned at the front was unsure of how to check us in after we set a reservation online. They then had issues with the outdoor/inside seating issue. We found that a party with a dog walked up after us and sat them selves at a table, and when we asked about it, was told that they had been specifically seated there despite seeing with our own eyes what had just occurred. After, the food took forever... and everything thing requested afterward followed suite. We discovered that after almost finishing our food that we actually had received the wrong plate when presented with an entirely new plate which look old, and like it had been sitting. Who would want to receive that!?? We left home this morning expecting a phenomenal experience at a place we thought was phenomenal and ended up dining at a place that was subpar. What's worse? We spent $60.12 on the bill. I guess we should have went to Waffle House. The one upside, the waiter Omar, was extremely nice, patient, and gave excellent feedback when ordering. Heck yes, yall! Another great breakfast place in the Greensboro. I've been to First Watch two times now and have been thoroughly impressed! My biggest tip is to get there early! We haven't had to wait to be seated, but we go almost right when they open and have been pretty lucky. It's so great and more people are finding out about it, so it gets packed in a hurry! They have delicious coffee and lots of juices, impressive sounding cocktails (that I've yet to try) and other tasty beverages to begin your meal. They also have rotating seasonal drinks and food items as well. However, their standard menu is huge and wonderfully innovative. I enjoyed their healthy wrap and avocado toast, but they have million dollar bacon that's sweet and smoky and will change your life. Well, if you like bacon, that is. The trifecta plate is a good way to sample a bit of everything (eggs, a breakfast meat and a Belgian waffle or pancake). The waffles here are spectacular and surprising light, with a crispy texture. So good! The prices are a little elevated, but no more than another upscale breakfast/brunch joint. Expect to pay $10+ a person for breakfast, but the food is exceptional. I love the decor too! My wife and I like First Watch and tried this location today. The decor is very nice. When we arrived we waited several minutes to be seated. Eventually, the cook came out and showed us to a table. Unfortunately, it was right in the sun and we needed to move (they have a problem here. The shades don't block the sun). We asked to be moved. We ordered water and coffee. I asked for Splenda with my coffee. The server brought the coffee. 5 minutes later, still no Splenda or water so I got up to look for Splenda at another table. The server saw this and then brought the water and Splenda. My wife had the lemon ricotta pancakes which she said were very good. I had the chickichanga. The home fries were very good. The omelette which holds the "filling" was a little overdone and tough. In summary, nice decor, food can be very good and service needs improvement. read more

First Watch is a rapidly expanding restaurant chain that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. They have begun opening in the Triad, so I decided it was time to check them out. The Greensboro location has a very attractive modern interior, but the acoustics are terrible--I imagine this place is deafening when it is full. It was bad enough one quarter full on a Sunday morning. I was greeted warmly. In fact, every staff member that I encountered was cheerful and helpful. The menu leans ostentatious and pretentious, but that's perfectly fine if the quality matches up to it. I ordered classic Eggs Benedict, a side of Million Dollar bacon, and coffee. Eggs Benedict: they call them classic, but are served on ciabatta bread rather than on an English muffin. I'm actually fine with the liberty they've taken here, as the bread was very good. What I'm not fine with is the liberty they took with the Hollandaise sauce. Frankly, it doesn't taste like Hollandaise sauce. It is not creamy and tangy as it should be, but is rather nearly translucent and very mild tasting. The poached eggs were overly trimmed, leaving basically a golf ball shaped yolk surrounded by bit of white. So small and round, one of them rolled off onto the plate and spilled its guts prematurely. The ham was good. The dish is served with a spring lettuce mix, which was a fine, if unusual, selection for breakfast (I could have opted for seasoned potatoes). Bacon: Their Million Dollar bacon adds Cajun seasoning and a drizzle of syrup to their standard bacon. It was just ok, falling short of my expectations. It was very bland--I could taste almost no seasoning or smoke in the bacon, and I just didn't care for the drizzle of syrup. To be bluntly honest, the similar-themed Billionaire's bacon at Twin Peaks breastaurant is far superior. Coffee: Oustanding. Bold and strong, the way coffee should be. Behind Smith Street Diner, who uses Larry's Coffee out of Raleigh, this is the best breakfast coffee I have had. The biggest drawback to First Watch is the staggering price. I paid $21 for a breakfast that was good but not great, and honestly left me still a little bit hungry. The price matches the pretentiousness, but the taste does not. Would I go back? The food is always delicious, and if the cook ever does something silly (like put onions in the omelette), the wait-staff whisks it away and brings a fresh plate toot-sweet.
