I was introduce to first watch from the location in Ocala during the summer and I've tried their summer menu. Coming up to Jacksonville I was looking for one as well and came upon the one on riverside, it was a Saturday that I've went pretty busy so I sat at the bar instead since I have to leave for work sooner or later but it did take a couple of mins to be attended but that's fine it was busy. I order a French toast as well one of their fall drink it was okay the French toast decent I wouldn't say it was the best. As well as the drink which was something with hibiscus which was good but sour very sour. The inside of the building was cute, but a bit tight as I could hear everyone conversations. read more

Avocado toast is hands down the best in town! I love to pair it with some cheddar cheese grits in the side with an iced cold coffee! I love everything in their menu. Make sure to try their whole wheat toast and homemade strawberry jam. They have vegetarian and vegan options. As well as an array of assorted freshly made juices and beverages to choose from. This location even has bar seating and can serve some alcoholic type beverages such as mimosas and Bloody Mary. I highly recommend this location. My family has been a fan of First Watch for a few years now. I really like what they call the Vera Cruz sauce and my wife's favorite was the elevated egg sandwich. However this last time it felt like they had discounted the quality and the quantity of their food. The elevated egg sandwich used to be served on a fantastic Texas toast type of multigrain bread and it was full of ingredients. This time however it was on a burger bun and the eggs smelled and tasted like it was of lower quality. I had the fall special dish, the barbacoa quesadillas , and even though it was a great tasting dish, it didn't fill me up even after substituting beans for potatoes. It wasn't as filling as the chickichanga and overall it was just okay. Overall they are loosing us as customers and as much as I like the Vera Cruz sauce it is just not enough for me to return. read more

The service took this review to 5 stars. From the minute I was greeted by the hostess to checking out at the counter- every employee contact was great! The hostess was so friendly and just had had a birthday. I was supposed to meet a friend for breakfast, but I ended up eating alone- the server was just wonderful! I didn't order for over 20 minutes, waiting and then I felt terrible about taking up a table on a busy Saturday morning and Yanelis (my server) made sure to check on me numerous times and even took time to chat with me! She single-handedly started my day off right!!! I ended up ordering the bananas foster french toast and it was heavenly! I laughed that no one brought me syrup- but there was no need with the delicious caramel sauce drizzled over the french toast. I ordered a side of bacon and it was ridiculously good! I was dropped off for breakfast, so the delay in ordering made it easier for John to come back to pick me up- a silver lining. And he was thrilled to arrive just before I boxed up my leftovers because he got to eat my bacon! Next time I want to spend a day in Riverside- I think I will start it here, for breakfast! read more

First watch is a classic brunch place! There were tons of indoor and outdoor seating, great parking in the area, and many standard brunch options with a new spring menu! The restaurant was bustling, and our waitress was still very attentive. We were pretty disappointed by the iced coffee, which was 90% milk and 10% coffee... someone did offer to fix it though, which was very nice, but it still remained mostly milk. The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious! I was surprised by the lack of lemon flavor in the actual pancakes, and the small amount of lemon ricotta topping which, when did not cover the top layer of pancake when spread out. The elevated breakfast sandwich was just that - elevated, a tasty twist to a classic breakfast item. The sandwich had a great flavor profile, and the crispy potatoes were a welcome bonus. read more

Our first experience at First Watch was "meh". We have never been to a First Watch before, but we heard great things about their "healthy breakfast options". We go to the Fresh Market often and have parked in this parking lot many times before. The service was great and we were greeted right after walking in. The restaurant is cute inside and the menu looked delicious. I ordered the eggs benedict florentine: Two poached cage-free eggs atop toasted ciabatta with fresh baby spinach, avocado and vine-ripened tomato and covered with hollandaise. Served with lemon-dressed organic mixed greens. Both eggs were over cooked - there was no runny yolk at all. The bread was toasted but was cold and the texture was like styrofoam. It really was not good. The greens on the side had no dressing so I had to ask for some. The salad dressing was good though! My boyfriend got the french toast with eggs and bacon. It was fine, but just basic. The potatoes were good, but super super salty. We have way better local breakfast spots in Jacksonville and we will not be back. read more

After a very early morning flight into Jacksonville Florida. We decided to have brunch. My Wife introduced me to First Watch and I'm very glad about it. It was just a short drive from the airport. And though they had a community parking lot, it was easy to find parking. We waited approximately three minutes to be seated in a fine air-conditioned establishment but we did have the option to sit outside, but after noticing only three of the six or so tables outside actually had shade. We was fine sitting inside enjoying the AC lol. Quick drinks off the menu which did include some alcohol. No appetizers this time just cold drinks and brunch. I started with the morning meditation which is a drink that's all organic 100% juice and I added the immune boost powder for additional $.99. It's non-alcoholic. Then for the second round I had the Morning Glory which do contain alcohol. Both was very good. And for my main course I had the Smoked Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata very good also. My wife start it with the Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee that was refreshing ( contains alcohol ) and followed up with the Chickichanga and she was very surprised that it turned out to be seasoned well. The atmosphere all around was lively. The music playing in the background was of the 90s, cool. Our table was generally clean and the hostess was very friendly and prompt. Wifey picked up the check and we both walked out of there with our bellies full and ready to take a nap Lol. The whole experience was pleasant. Given the opportunity we will return. read more

Enthusiastic diners were clearing their plates and what they couldn't eat was being placed in to go boxes. It would be helpful to have a sign saying "please wait to be seated" because we walked in and nobody spoke to us and we didn't know whether to continue to stand or seat ourselves, so we waited. When I arrived the parking lot was packed so I parked at Larry's Sub (which I've never had btw!) and I arrived inside to the lobby. The hostess told me there would be a slight wait for one and they'd clean the table for one. After maybe twenty minute wait, the hostess showed to my table and informed me they were only doing a digital menu only. I don't try new breakfast items for fear of the terror of not liking and the hassle of getting something else remade. With that said, I ordered the watermelon wake up which was very refreshing and filling. 3.99, but worth the buck. After waiting another ten minutes the hostess came back and asked if I was ready to order. I ordered the Tri-Fecta, which is the traditional eggs meat and potato breakfast, but with a multigrain pancake of your choice. I went with blueberry. It's a shame that I live right next door to this location and have to come more often than I'd like (which is never). Of 6 experiences here, I've only had one positive one. Takeout is ALWAYS 15-20 minutes late, which is not ideal for people who order ahead for lunch. Wanting to be an efficient Yelper and save your spot in line? Not going to work. You'll still wait 15 minutes (after being in the "line" for 50 and being told we're at the top of the list) and have people who walked in after you be seated before you the whole time. I sincerely cannot wait to move to another area of Jacksonville so I can have better and more options for breakfast. On our way to Jacksonville Zoo we stopped at this First watch. I love every single First watch I even been to. They all look very similar in their farm chic decor style. The food is amazing. I was a little bit let down that this first watch did not carry artificial sweeteners. At first the ones down here in Fort Lauderdale didn't, but now they do. I guess the trend has not reach Jacksonville yet. I cannot stand Stevia and I do not do any other type of sugar. So I don't enjoy coffee as much as I do the food. I'm not super fond of chain, but this place is so cute and bright on the inside, and definitely bustling! For friday lunch hour, my husband and I were seated really quickly. The staff were also very very nice to my infant daughter, and asked if they could bring out cut up fruit for her, which she loved. Servers were attentive to us, as well, explaining the menu, giving recommendations, and checking on us frequently. I ordered the traditional breakfast. Wasn't anything wild, 2 eggs, 2 chicken apple sausage patties which were decent, and breakfast potatoes. I asked for them to be extra crispy, and they weren't, but whatever! Still okay. My husband ordered the chickichanga? He said it was okay as well. So the food average, i guess. But man do they serve a huge piece of toast, lol. I also like that the preserves are house made. The drinks were the best part of the breakfast. I ordered the bloody mary, and my hudbund ordered the cinnamon french toast milk, which was rum and oat milk and cinnamony goodness. And strong. My bloody mary was all right, it definitely needed the bacon that came with it. The bacon was not crispy, though. Kinda...too undercooked for me. It wasn't raw, but it was just...when it sat in the bloody mary cocktail, it just was not right. Honestly, I know it has to be cooked to that point to be skewered and cute for presentation, but I'd rather a crispy piece a bacon placed in my drink than whatever that was. Have eaten in First Watch in multiple states and this is the first time I have been disappointed. We were seated for approximately ten minutes before we were waited on. I needed a little more time to make a decision before I ordered but the waitperson did not return for approximately 15 minutes. When we finally received our orders my omelet was burned. I asked for another one and was told that it would only be a few minutes to get one prepared. By the time that it finally arrived, I had eaten part of my husband's lunch and we had been in the restaurant for an hour and a half and didn't want to wait any longer. While on business in Jacksonville, my coworkers and I had breakfast here two days in a row. We simply could not partake in breakfast at the hotel after the first day. I have always had great experiences with First Watch, even back at home so I was not expecting anything short of that. The first morning I had the Tri-Fecta with the waffle. Everything was good except the waffle which I kind of figured I wouldn't care for simply because I am very particular about my waffles. My son and I usually order the traditional for two back at home but I wanted to try something different. On the second morning, I ordered the Tri-Fecta again but this time with the pancake. First Watch used to be so good. I'm not sure what has happened but I've been disappointed the last 3 times I've gone there. I ordered delivery today and got 3 things: the Trifecta with a lemon ricotta pancake and a Golden Glow drink. Trifecta: asked for eggs over medium and got one hard cooked egg that was dry as hell plus another that was over easy. Polar opposites. Pancake: it looks pretty (ish) but it's disgusting. I love lemon ricotta pancakes and I get them often from Taverna. I expected a light, fluffy pancake with hints of lemon and ricotta. Instead I got what I pictured. It has a strong taste and smell of artificial lemon. The ricotta isn't even mixed in. Golden Glow: I used to get the Morning Meditation but I saw this new drink. The ingredients are listed as pineapple, turmeric, orange, coconut water and lemon. Idk how you could possibly mess this combination up but it's disgusting. It's so bitter and just doesn't taste good. So there you have it. This experience was really the final straw for me. This place gets all the good reviews. You know when I first started coming here I didn't even know this was a chain. The place is decorated in a nice and modern but slightly country style. Its always clean as is the restroom. The cool thing is that you can get in line on the yelp app. There is often a line. A lot of times I will come and sit at the bar. No line no waiting. The servers are all nice and know their stuff. I have not had a bad experience here ever. The food is uniformly tasty and even a bit healthy on occasion. The brown sugar bacon is excellent. My poor arteries! I love the various fritattas and other egg dishes. I literally have not had a bad item ever here. That never happens... I could probably eat here almost every day but then I would probably have to have a heart bypass... I opt for the egg white omelet but then add on some bacon to make sure I get my daily dose of cholesterol. This place is great you should check it out! read more

This is a typical Riverside eatery. The food is good for sure, but a little over priced. I really like the bloody mary and wish all the locations served them. The bacon everyone raves about really isn't all that special. It's good but I don't think it's worth the extra cash. I like the soup/salad/sandwich combinations they have. I also like to try all the seasonal items. They had one that was like brisket and poached egg or something like that and it was delicious. Panera Breads no longer exist in my world. That's right! First Watch has captured my heart. After an early morning photography session, we (the photographer and I) was starving and end up dining in at First Watch. Before visiting I checked on the wait time via Yelp which read 0 minutes on the wait time... that wait time was definitely a fact because we were seated immediately upon arrival. The food portions and quality was beyond my expectations; bigger than my usual item portion(s) provided at Panera Breads. I ordered the Sunrise Granola Bowl with a side of Chicken Sausage Patties and a cup of coffee which is similar to the usual that I would order from Panera Breads... but, bigger and better portions; tastier; and better on the quality and presentation. The waitress, Molly, even poured my coffee for me as I didn't realize she placed the coffee pot on the table. I kind of felt embarrassed as I wasn't trying to appear uppity. LOL! She reassured me that it was perfectly fine as she continued to pour my coffee. The only downside about our service, today, was that Molly never completed any of the tasked we asked of her or the tasks took almost 45 minutes to complete. For instance, we waited for almost 20 minutes (after receiving our drinks) for Molly to come take our food order. She never came but, thanks to another observing waiter - they noticed our prolong wait and came to take our order (without us gesturing.) The customers who were seated after us (and placed their order after us) ended up receiving their food before we did (which was almost the exact same order as ours.) Once we received our order, from Molly, I asked if she could bring me a To-Go container for my muffin as I know I wasn't going to finish with the massive granola bowl I received - that alone took 45 minutes plus a reminder to receive. Despite, the delay from our waitress, I think there's a huge competition based on which local restaurant could steer me away from the franchises. I doubt that First Watch is a local but, they feel quite local to me and has won my heart until a true local breakfast nook comes along with a banging Parfait or Granola Bowl. read more

Saturday brunch lines can be a buzzkill. Not with this killer app feature! 2. A casual, yet up tempo breakfast and lunch spot is exactly what the Brooklyn area needed. How did First Watch up the ante? By making the smartest business decision ever...implementing craft batched cocktails to the menu. Absolutely genius! Bloody Mary w/ bacon? Yaaaaassss. 3. The killer combination of fresh delicious food and personable table service goes a long way in my book. They value their customers from the moment they walk in their doors. It's always a party here, and they do a great job of expediting orders in a packed house. Current fave: Chickichanga - tender chicken (obvs), chorizo, green chiles, tons of cheese, and more characters. After the fantastic time we had here at the Yelp party, I brought my family here for my husbands birthday breakfast and used our gift card. The place was spotlessly clean and the service was impeccable. We actually had two servers and never felt neglected but we were not overly bothered either. Lol I ordered my husband the Millionaires Bloody Mary as a treat and he loved it. We all shared a serving of the Millionaires bacon. My daughter had the cinnamon waffles and devoured it. My husband had the pork belly bacon, cheese grits and poached eggs, all which were perfect. My avocado toast was dreamy and I could have eaten two helpings. I only have two gripes. The first was that I ordered eggs cooked medium instead of basted (they said the eggs could be substituted any way you liked) but they were actually over easy with a lot of liquid white under the cooked part. (My husband's eggs were poached a perfect medium though.) The second was that the coffee carafe on the table kept the coffee at a temperature that was almost undrinkable. Lava hot. I did not say anything to the server, and yes I should have, but we were having such a wonderful time that I neglected to do so. Terrible! Awful, I would never go there again. This restaurant and area used to be so beautiful very family friendly but now it is turning ghetto with employees playing inappropriate ghetto music with cussing including the N word on a loop completely inappropriate on full volume from the kitchen. Other than that the food was not worth it! The potato was very dry and not cooked properly. The egg was ok, bread was burnt and was very hard to cut with the knife, when we went to pay the lady asked us how the food and experience was so we explained to her how terrible it was and she didn't seem to be faced by the review, manger walked by and she didn't bother mention the complaints to him. Went to first watch again for Sunday brunch. This was after the yelp event. Our server was Kayla and she did a great job making sure we got everything we needed. Started off with drinks. Mimosas for Candyce and the millionare bloody Mary for me. Try the bloody Mary. It is very good with the bacon as a garnish. Suggestion if possible.... You can have the bacon but also do the dill pickle. Candyce got the breakfast taco with scrambled eggs and chicken chorizo. Red beans for a side. I tried the chorizo and the beans. Very good. I had the traditional breakfast with basted eggs. Very good except for one goof. Don't let the eggs out of the kitchen if it has broke. Other than that potatoes were good, toast was multi grain and sausage links were plump hot and very tasty. First watch is really a good place to go and this one on riverside has a full bar. I walked in and sat at bar and ordered the The Morning Meditation which is the bomb made with Orange, Lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beets. But the turmeric and ginger caught my eye due to.its healing properties. The I ordered the pork belly and cheese grits and I was not disappointed it waa so filling, creamy and good and the pork belly bacon was crisp along side to poached eggs. The6 also added a small spring salad with a tangy vinaigrette dressing and a crust of bread with a smear of butter. I am so looking forward to going again that I may go tomorrow. Located in the new development trendy part of Jax, this place does stand out from the other new spots around the area. Only opened for breakfast and brunch, it has small outdoor seating and interior with a clean wooden Asheville feel. I'm not a fan of breakfast so I adore this place bc there are many items that are brunch or cater to lunch. Although didn't try any cocktails they have some interesting ones brunch approved. Staff attentive and friendly and prices beyond reasonable. 10 bucks for a delicious large protein bowl hit the spot early am that provided a healthy yet hearty packed meal. Menu overall appears to cater healthy lifestyle but full of flavor and deliciousness. They have some donuts I would love to try.
