|First Watch, Seconds Please| My introduction to First Watch has been a bit iffy. The first time I tried to go to another location I didn't realize they were closing 5 minutes before I entered, so I wasn't seated. This time I tried to enter I was apologetically told that they weren't operating due to a sewer line issue but to come back in an hour. They provided a $2 off coupon so I figured I'd wait it out and still give them a try. Upon my return they remembered my face and I was greeted with an enthusiastic "You're back!" It was a nice start to the meal after the inconvenience. I decided to sit outside and my only qualm there was that there is not enough coverage. I was baking in the sun the entire time but I'll take the fault since I made the choice to sit outside. Upon reviewing the menu they had a lot of options but it was organized in an odd way for some of the sections. Also I noticed that the cost for certain items was a bit high - ie 4 bucks for a single pancake. I finally decided on the biscuits with gravy entree. It was definitely worth the wait. Awesome flaky and buttery biscuit topped with delicious gravy. The sides were pretty good too with tasty seasoned potatoes. I would definitely return to try other menu items...but this time I'll sit inside. read more

From start to finish, terrible experience. The hostess was clueless and unfriendly. She never mentioned outdoor seating or that it was self seat (which would've saved us a 45 minute wait that was estimated to be a 30 minute wait). Our server was friendly but spread too thin. Drinks took forever and we never got a water refill. Our plates took another 30+ minutes to come out. The chile hash barely had enough pork in it to fill the 2 measly corn tortillas it came with and the pancake was so cold the butter wouldn't melt on it. Once I finally flagged down our server and asked for a new pancake, the new one (which took 10 mins to make) was dropped off with a laughable amount of butter. It looked like they had wiped off a used butter knife to get the last of the butter on it. When I brought it up to the server that dropped off the pancake, she informed me she was the manager. That blew my mind.... The MANAGER knowing this was a remake already, dropped off this half-assed presentation of a pancake after not stopping by to check on the table. Knowing this was the manager was a huge problem. During the entire time we were there, I never saw her do a single table touch or check in with her staff. She was a great food runner and that's where it ended. No wonder wait times were what they were and the kitchen was cranking out bare minimum. We will not be back to this location. read more

Although this place is pricy and there is usually a wait, it is very much worth the wait and the price. The waiter we had, Gavin, could not have been any nicer. The food came out in about half an hour but was delicious. Their broccoli cheddar soup is better than Panera! Highly recommend. read more

My favorite spot for breakfast, any day of the week! The First Watch breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant opened in California in the early 80's, and later they moved the corporate headquarters down the road from us into Bradenton, Florida. The chain now includes over 100 stores that are all open from 7 am - 2:30 pm seven days a week. I really admire their approach to excellent food and customer service, and you'll find a plaque on the wall that spotlights their philosophy for serving their customers. A fresh pot of coffee on your table, free newspapers and WiFi, the choice to substitute cholesterol-free eggs or egg whites at no additional charge, and so on. The menu is a delicious collection of fresh fruit, hot oatmeal, granola, and a number of healthy selections, plus the usual omelets, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, waffles, pancakes, and French toast with breakfast meats and potatoes. Lots of creative and unique selections on the breakfast menu. The lunch menu includes soups, salads, and sandwiches, or you can keep ordering breakfast right up until closing time. One of my very favorite items on the menu is their Acapulco Express omelet which is made with chorizo sausage, avocado, green chilies, and house-roasted onions with cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. That comes topped with sour cream and served with a side of homemade salsa, breakfast potatoes, grits, or dressed greens, and an English muffin. I have had several good breakfasts at this place (I always get the Chickichanga- whipped eggs with spicy all-natural white-meat chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. Topped with Vera Cruz sauce and sour cream. Awesomesauce, literally and figuratively.) I have only recently discovered their lunch menu, and it is quite good as well. They have a pick-two deal; I had the Beefeater Sandwich and Pecan Dijon Salad. Both were very flavorful, I cannot wait to go back for lunch again. Best breakfast spot I've had in Tampa. Had the turkey sausage with biscuits and gravy. So good! Also had a blueberry pancake on the side which was the closest I've ever had to tasting home made! After a 15 minute wait we enjoyed our server, Amanda who warned us this was her first day after training. She was awesome and sweet and loved the coffee pot as well as pitcher of water left on table. This place was so good for breakfast the day I went. The coffee was yummy and I could not stop drinking it. I had the key west crepe, and my friend at the special omelet and also one chocolate chip pancake. Oh they were all good. The service was great, and really it was a wonderful happy social breakfast with my wonderful friend. She had never been there before, and loved it very much. After reading all the reviews, I immediately bookmarked this place a year ago, and finally managed to eat there today. It reminded me of Daily Eats, but by far it was NOT! The food is mediocre and the service stinks. The only thing enjoyable was the bacon. While everyone is VERY friendly, waitress was in such a hurry, as quick as she'd stop at the table, she's leave in a flash and I could barely get out two words to her. And then barely saw her the whole time, even as the dining room died down. I cannot say that about all locations, however, COVID created a disaster for restaurants so please keep that perspective in mind as restaurants try to rehire people. I'm going to be honest, I am not a breakfast person! However, my fiancé is. And whenever he is awake in time to make it to breakfast, first watch has never let us down. The food is very consistent, fresh, and tasty. They have a good amount of selections on their menu that gives everyone an option, however is not overwhelming. I do like that their ingredients are fresh and locally grown. And let's not forget about their juices and drinks option. There is quite a few different concoctions that they have it's so tasty. As well as their special for the day. I must say the one improvement that they can make it easier for other customers is the check in and check out process. When you first walk in the check-in and a check out area is right next to each other and a lot of people get confused because they just stand and huddle right at the door and it becomes very overwhelming for those leaving or those entering. When checking out, people are just lining up randomly and the cashier doesn't know who's next and has ask who's next. I'm giving it a four-star because as much as I like the food it's just breakfast it's not something that is mind blowing and exquisitely created that you can't find it elsewhere. On Monday of this week, I went to my neighborhood First Watch. It was not my first time going there, but frankly, it will be my last. Being a former bartender, I am pretty easygoing when it comes to service. As long as my drink is refilled, I can deal with anything. Having to ask a server for a refill on three separate occasions during the meal is just wrong. When my food arrived, the annoyance was compounded. I ordered the eggs benedict florentine. The english muffin was burnt and too tough to cut without a sharp knife. The spinach leaves had been burned to brown under a broiler. The potatoes were either burned to charcoal or still crunchy in the middle. When my companion and I went to the front to pay, a manager took our money but never once spoke or asked how our meal was. I have never had a bad experience at a First Watch before, but the poor quality of the food and the inattentiveness of the staff just soured me on wanting to try First Watch again. No waiting, was seated fast and every one was very polite and didn't have to look for our waitress. Of course my power drink was definitely needed [Coffee] and my wife had some kind of kale drink. For our breakfast entrées the Mrs had a avocado omelette, our little guy had half a waffle with fruit and I eggs benedict with salmon. Can you say yuuummmmmmy!!! Delicious breakfast and brunch spot! Plenty of parking space as it is located in a plaza with plenty of spaces. Ashley, was really attentive and provided great service. I was with my two year old and I wish his food would of come out first, that is my only observation as his food took longer that expect but otherwise food was delicious and the restaurant was clean. I had the the "elevated egg sandwich" and it was amazing, it comes with potatoes and pretty filling as well. They also have great juices and the menu is constantly changing. In town visiting a friend who suggested we eat here. A beautiful Friday morn. Al fresco tables were all full we decided to eat inside and were seated immediately. A really good breakfast place. The menu is quite expansive and it was difficult to decide. I got a classic sandwich which was excellent. My friends ordered traditional egg breakfasts. All were great. Felicia our server was very good and attentive. Timing and spacing were perfect. Plenty of coffee. Ambience is a moderately high end typical Tampa breakfast venue. Food is so good here. Have been many times to this and the Wesley Chapel location (the one on Fowler is good too) and the staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh and tasty. Use the No Wait app...there are often times a wait for a table. I don't understand why all those people drive and stand around. The No Wait app allows you to "get in line" from wherever you are. I have had just enough wait time to join the no wait line as I'm leaving the house and by the time I drive there I can sit right down, to longer waits where I was even able to run an errand before driving over. I went with a friend for sort of a brunch/lunch. I had gotten the scrambled eggs, overly salted fried potatoes, bacon and toast with strawberry jam. I liked the bacon the best because it was full of meat instead of a lot of fat that I am used to being served. Breakfast was around $10.00. Service was attentive and I could not really ask for more. Food here is OKAY. I had the avocado toast, it was great. Well seasoned. Small portion. My husband had an omelette, it was okay. Not great not horrible. My son ordered the French toast which was ONE slice of bread with 2 pieces of bacon. We also ordered a kale juice, it was very good (prob the best part of the meal). The coffee tastes very good. It even drinkable without sugar or cream. My complaints- the waitress was awful, I had to walk to the kitchen to ask for syrup, napkins and our check. The nice thing about her- she brought me samples of he juices to see which I wanted to order. we probably won't be back considering it was really damn expensive and the portions were too small. We waited so long for the waiter to come to our table and clean up from the prior customers, waited again for them to bring us milk for our coffee, and the food took FOREVER. They have 1st come 1st serve seating outside, but do not SERVICE the tables nearly as quick. If you are not going to service the folks who sit in 93 degree weather as well as those who sit inside - DONT OFFER OUTDOOR DINING. Otherwise, food was solid. read more

I'm on a Yelp streak today! I visited First Watch I'm Carrollwood yesterday morning for brunch. I'm no strangers to First Watch's, but had never been to this particular one so I figured I'd give it a run down. My experience was good here. It's a little small inside but our wait wasn't more than 20 minutes so it didn't really bother me. The food was typical First Watch menu food. Our server was very sweet and our table was clean. The only complaint that I have isn't even First Watches fault so I can't complain about them. We were sat at the Public table and the people that were sitting next to us ended up being gross and talking with their mouths full and loudly chewing and just being gross people in general. I am to shy to speak up to someone about it, but it just irritates me that in 2017, people can be lacking of basic manners and social skills like this! As I was recently introduced to First Watch through Yelp I was excited to bring my entire family to dine at the restaurant. Visited with a party of 6 and was immediately seated. The staff were polite and our server was excellent. I opted for several menu items as the food is fairly priced & delicious. The multigrain banana granola crunch pancakes were fluffy, huge and delicious, the potatoes were tasty and crispy. The avocado (zaboka) toast was loaded with fruit and the bread was soft and warm.
