This is my new favorite breakfast spot. The food is too good for words. I recommend using the service to reserve a table ahead of time. There was a bit of wait. The kid and I came here for our Easter breakfast being as it was Easter I ordered from the seasonal menu. I had the chicken chimichurri hash. It was chicken, potatoes, kale, and other goodness tossed in chimichurri sauce with an egg your way on top with some extra chimichurri sauce, served with seasonal fruit, toast and jam. I had high expectations and this dish exceeded them. The kid ordered the works omelette. It was served with greens and toast as well. The food was better than Keke's I know those out there will disagree but we are officially in love with First Watch. read more

I visited first watch today with my family to celebrate my birthday. It was bad! The wait was only about 15 minutes, and everyone was nice when we entered. The nightmare started when we got seated at our table. It took about 30 min before we even saw our waiter. Then when he delivered our drinks, the garnish was wilted in the drinks that two of us ordered. Then, we waited another before they delivered our food. Only half of our order. The bacon that two other staff members brought out was dry as a board. The original waiter saw how dry it was....and before we even asked, he said would you like me to get you more bacon. Uh yes! As we waited, he didn't even come by once to ask us if we wanted to order more drinks, which I wanted. After we flagged him down he told us the rest of the order was coming. He then told us the kitchen was backed up because the delivery orders had to be completed first. What??? So you're going to make the people who are in the actual restaurant wait so the people at HOME could get their food first. WTF??? Then we were told the waffle iron was down as well. Why didn't you tell us that while we were ordering waffles or after when you found out the waffle maker was broken?? Their manager finally came by to apologize and gave us a coupon for a buy one get one free meal. Why would I even think about coming back to this nightmare after the horrible experience. We asked for the order to go at that point,,, they didn't even get the order right. The waffles we got were cold and bland, I've had better frozen waffles. This was my first time at this particular location. I expected the same great service and professionalism as I've always received at the USF/Fowler Ave location, but was disappointed. We waited about 5 minutes for a table (not unusual) and were seated in the back overlooking a concrete and mud back lot. The sun shining through the window made it very obvious that our water glasses were covered in dried remnants of other people's juices so I checked the coffee cups and they had grainy things stuck in them. It took a while before anyone came to our table. When she finally did, her response was, "ok, are you ready to order?" I said we'd just like coffee and water to start so she left the coffee pot and took the glasses. We sat a bit longer and someone else brought a carafe of water for us to stare at and we waited and waited and watched our waitress take orders at other tables and finally just decided this was a bad idea and left. read more

My family has been going to First Watch for over 15 years. Their menu is so versatile: you can order pancakes, sandwiches, salads, or soup! While many things about the restaurant have changed, the menu has stayed the same (much to my delight!). It's always busy, and sometimes you have to wait a while for a table, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait. The price range is a little higher, but not outrageous. Food quality is 10/10! They also serve a few interesting drinks; my favorite is the kale tonic, which is a blend of kale, apples, lemons, and cucumber. This really is the best breakfast spot around that I've visited! They have something for everyone, including vegetarians, the health conscious, those that want to stuff themselves silly, and everyone in-between. I've only tried a few things here. I normally order the Tri-fecta with their amazing vera cruz sauce on the side. Today I ordered the Floridian French Toast. Very yummy, but their waffles are better....the best ever! There was a long line today, and there often is at breakfast. They provide free coffee while you wait. We decided to take a little walk in the plaza and check out the Hallmark store, and peek in at the Thai place (will definitely be checking that place out soon!). In 25 minutes we were back at the restaurant, and a couple minutes later we were seated. The service is always friendly there. If they do get something wrong, they go out of their way to make it right for you. Give them a try. You won't regret it! read more

I'm a breakfast lover and I love First Watch. The food is consistently high quality and the service is prompt and friendly. I basically exclusively order breakfast here. My favorites are the Belgian waffle- light, airy, and delicious (just like it should be), the pancakes (the seasonal pumpkin pancakes are my favorite but when they are not available the banana crunch are yummy), the skillets are also good as well as the breakfast potatoes. I like that they give you a pitcher of water on your table, although I would prefer a regular size glass with my water. I am always surprised by how fast our food comes out. There is almost always a wait on the weekends (pretty standard at FW restaurants). I wish it wasn't a chain. I can certainly feel the 'chain' vibe when I'm here. read more

The menu offers classics and new favorites as well. We really like the Chickichonga, which is a spin on a Chicken breakfast burrito/chimichanga. It's always delicious and served with the freshest avocado. Even though there is always a wait on the weekends, the quick, efficient service and delicious menu items make it worth the time spent crammed into the front lobby and outdoor area. I love this place. The food is awesome. They have all fresh, healthy food ingredients. The chicken is hormone free and it is delicious. I love their quinoa bowls, the pancakes, and their kale salad. Also, the ham and guyere melt is the bomb. Today, I had one of the specials, a faro, quinoa, brown rice, chicken, avocado and egg bowl. It was very tasty. Also, we had the millionaire bacon, it is so tasty. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. They make sure that you like your meal. If not, they are very willing to make something else for you. After hearing all the hype, I decided to try this place. I am not disappointed. I really like the ambience of the place. We were seated immediately. Our server was Kara. She was friendly and nice to talk to. The service was very quick getting the food to us. I loved that since I was absolutely a starvin Marvin. So I'll admit I'm a FW snob. I eat here almost weekly now for over 4 years. This place has tons of regulars for good reason. The staff knows my name and order. They are fast. The food is fresh and somewhat healthy. For instance, they serve maple syrup rather then pancake syrup which is horrible for you. The quality has been consistently great. I will keep going. On my wish list for them would be stronger coffee, a larger dining room, and a larger waiting area. But, why mess with success. Stay away after 9am on the weekend or you will wait 30 to 45 minutes. They open at 7 and you need to be there by 8:30 for a fast seating. read more

My family loves going to first watch, however this location is not my favorite. The food is good, but the service is okay. We used the app to check in (like we always do) and the hostess put us at the end of the list. Then when she sat us, she ran to the table and left us behind. She put the menus down and left, we didn't even get to our table before she left. We also noticed that our entire table and the floor was covered in syrup. My wife and I visited this location on Sept. 11th. Initially we didn't know about this location but quickly became interested with all the positive comments on Yelp. We figured this establishment is a "must visit" if the comments are this great and be the judge for ourselves. We visited the restaurant about 8:30am and we immediately noticed the word is out on this place! The restaurant was full and many folks waiting to get in. First Watch is my absolute favorite breakfast and brunch restaurant. I've loved everything I've tried with my favorites being the Bacado Omelette, fruit crepes, and the hash bowl with avocado in it. The boyfriend loves getting the Beefeater with tomato soup. A lot of times they are on a wait but it is worth it and the wait usually isn't too long. I personally like when there is a wait because they will have self serve coffee and it's nice to get a cup and relax on a weekend afternoon outside the restaurant before you sit down for your meal. I've never ate at this location before and we were disappointed in service here. We waited near ten minutes to be greeted and it wasn't that busy so I'm not sure why that was a problem and once our server did arrive we were not happy with her service. If I didn't already love first watch and today was my first visit I may have not given it much credit. So if this happens give them another try, normally First Watch has a great staff and great service to compliment their great menu, hopefully it was just an off day. read more

Oh, First Watch. There is a running joke in my group that I can't live anywhere there isn't a First Watch and maybe that's true, since I've lived within 10 miles of one for over 10 years and through 5+ moves around Florida. The food and service are consistently good at every location I've been to and that's true for this most recent "local" branch nearest me. That being said, I can't give them 4 or 5 stars because I've always felt their prices are on the high end for what they offer and, while good, there is not a single item on their menu I'd call my favorite anything. Yes, the breakfast options are good and they have some interesting dishes. But it's also a running joke amongst my group that they put avocado in just about everything to the point where "Nah, I don't really want avacado today" is a perfectly acceptable response to "How about First Watch?". I am not a fan of their Crepe Eggs (a mix of eggs and crepe batter) but I do like some of the filling combos they have for these and I appreciate that they are always willing to do them as an omelet instead. I find their hash brown potatoes often overcooked (sometimes into tiny charcoal nuggets) but overall - good stuff...that's maybe $3 more than it really should be. read more

Always a consistent place to grab a good breakfast, but the remodel and menu re-do has made this one of my favorite places in Tampa. The re model has given the restaurant a really refreshing new look; its very hipster farmhouse fancy inside. Trendy tables with a much more modern feel inside. Love the water bottle on the table idea as well as keeping with the complimentary coffee as you wait. As awesome as all that is, the new menu is by far the winner here. There are AMAZING fresh new juices ( I had the ginger, orange, carrot one) as well as great new combinations on the menu. Cant remember the exact name, but I had a egg, arugula, avocado and Gruyere sandwich with potatoes and my friend had an omelet that was out of this world. We will be returning much more often and recommending to anyone looking for a good breakfast/brunch! read more
