I did not think we would ever get a decent Seafood Bar / restaurant in this area. Usually if you want good seafood you have to go to Dallas or Austin. I usually get the best seafood available down in Galveston or Surfside Beach. This was a pleasant surprise. The coleslaw is the absolute best coleslaw I've ever tasted. The portions were just right without being excessive. I had the fried shrimp and oysters and could not have been happier with the flavor. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly without being gushingly fake, and the atmosphere was just right for a restaurant of its size. Are meals were served on real plates with real silverware and we did not have to wait long for it. Overall we are already planning our next visit and as of right now it is our favorite restaurant in the Waco area. read more

Food was below acceptable. I ordered a shrimp and lobster grilled cheese and the fries were cold. My friend had the stuffed flounder and it was cold on a bed of cold mashed potatoes and cold steamed spinach. She asked for a special made drink and it wasn't what she asked for. I have been here a couple times before and not had a problem. Today being the day before Mother's Day I expected better. And please don't make up some bs about this is how we do it and it works. Several months ago I wrote a negative review of this restaurant, to the effect that, although it was wonderful when it opened, both the service and food had declined over several visits. At the request of one of the staff, we ate there again about a month ago and the food quality was great, as was the service. We will return on a regular basis. read more

The facility was well taken care of and it was obvious that having a clean and organized environment are important and top of the management list. The food takes awhile while you wait but that translates to me as freshly cooked not warmed up. The staff, including the waiter and manager, were there for the customer. My coworker picked this place to eat. As I was standing at the entrance, she placed it to go order and I said no I'm gonna get a burger or something from somewhere else. Well, the hostesses swore to me that this burger was amazing here. And I should've known better than to listen to people 20 years younger than me trying to sell me on this idea of meat at of fish place. So I get the burger I ask for it plain I specifically say no tomato no lettuce, no onion, etc. The bald black waiter doesn't read any of that down he just goes OK. Then he doesn't fucking ring it in so my burger comes with everything on it. I just got done working a 13 hour day I get back to the hotel I see this burger has everything on it. I called to say something. Guy picks up the phone says hello I say yeah I need to speak to a manager. He says "who is this". If I told you who this was, you would still would not know, so why don't you just give me the manager man I don't know if it's how Waco Texas does things, but the careless attitude from the people behind the bar, the hostesses, the waiter that didn't want to take my order properly........ you could go so many other places in this area and get that Texas charm of a service The lady wanted me to drive back to get new food. I guess she's never worked in a hospital for longer than 12 hours in one day. As you get back you're not leaving again, so do something else for me next time tell me oh I'm gonna find your order in the thing and reduce it 50% or something like do something for me since I can't come back but I'm not gonna argue that because I'm not gonna try to teach people how you really manage customer service read more

Absolutely loved fish city grill. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We felt so special. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the crab bisque, jalapeño soup, and my husband loved the clam chowder. My daughter had shrimp nachos and calamari. She loved both, her favorite was the calamari which was delicious with the thai chili sauce. We also have the fried shrimp watch my husband really enjoyed. I have a seared scallops with bacon wrapped shrimp and it was perfection. I can't wait to go back and try other things if I can keep myself from getting the scallops again. Staff was friendly and because it was our first visit, we received a sample soup plate. The clam chowder was our favorite, followed by the lobster bisque. It's nice to have a new place to enjoy. It was our first visit to Fish City and they provided us a sampler of each of their soups and an oyster something. Neither of us are oyster fans but it was amazing as were all the soups. So much so, it changed what I had in mind. We ordered the oysters and a bowl of soup and shared some fish tacos. Everything tasted great. It happened to be happy hour so we also got to try several mixed drinks at the servers recommendation which also were great. Go give this place a try. I think you'll enjoy it. read more

This was our first experience with Fish City Grill and definitely won't be our last. First, our waitress, Taylor (a she), was fantastic. Brought us our free sampler and the best peach tea we have ever tasted. Everything on the sampler was awesome. We couldn't wait for the entre. My wife had the blackened catfish and I had the fish tacos. Got four large tacos and brought two home for another meal. I don't think we will ever go back to LJS or any of the other so called seafood places again. The prices were very reasonable and the service outstanding!
