How am I going to eat this?
    Bethanne A.

Good ole timely food. Comfort and some not so good for you. Hubs got grilled fish, baked sweet potato, fried okra, hushpuppies and Texas Toast. I had fried Chicken Livers, (a bit over cooked, black peas and onion rings. Plus, a biscuit. This place is hoarders delight, open 15 hours a day. Our Wait Staff Sam, was an absolute darling. So sweet and helpful. About the Ambiance, don't bring a date. It will be the last date unless, she loves good food..Cobblers,Banana Pudding and many Meringue Pies. Plus a small salad bar. Prices are a bit much.

Husbands cfs covered the entire plate, you can see he starting eating out of the middle !!

Food was great! Huge portions...amazing service. Is a little diner that has nostalgic decor. Can never go wrong with the chicken fried steak! Okra is crisp, mashed potatoes are real and not from powder. Wait staff is attentive. Family run restaurants seem to always be the best & this one doesn't fail! Small salad bar for those wanting fresh! Will be back for sure

Went to Fish Pond for dinner and everything was wonderful. The serving size was huge. I have leftovers for two more meals! The chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. Good prices. Good service. Very casual atmosphere.

First timer, so glad we decided to eat here. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing!! So good, I forgot to take pics!

Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and Brussels. Best one I've had in a long time!! Worth the trip. My waitress was awesome and very sweet

Awesome little place very clean and everybody was very friendly. Chicken fried steak was the best one I've had in a really long time, and my waitress was very nice and sweet. Will definitely be back.

    Breakfast.

So on a road trip we stumbled on this Sunday morning. Pretty crowded and it appears a favorite of the locals. The decor is great, it's an older building, located near an RV park. It's the kinda place we love to run across in our travels. Wife had the grilled Pork Chop Country Boy Breakfast, eggs, toast and grits. The cook here knows how to do it right, Pork chop was juicy and most, not dried and over cooked! I had the Sunshine breakfast with eggs, grits a biscuit and gravy and ham. First really big breakfast since some surgery and it was a welcome meal! Server was excellent. It's worth a road trip to Willis for this gem!

Is this the old Dandee Dog?

I don't think so. My wife's great aunt and uncle owned the Dandy Dog. It was in Huntsville, near the SHSU campus.

They warm up the table with this amazing cornbread & hot rolls Today I had the fried catfish with fries and coleslaw. It was deliciously light & flaky but so filling I only ate 1 filet. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had! Ever! And I don't normally eat/like hush puppies but I always try and thumbs up; different from what I've tried in years past. My husband had the chicken fried steak with okra & mashed potatoes which I got a 'it was good' response which really means... he ate all of it with no complaints. Lol very rare to get a 'fantastic' or 'delicious' outta him. There are no booths, which is my preferred dining experience but we're not here for the comfort! The table was a little wobbly but I didn't care, I love staring at the pie shelf while dining! Nicely country style decorum. Great food delivered quickly with a smile! prices are inline with the quality/quantity! Thank you! Happy New Year!

An appetizer main and dessert We got served some fresh cornbread and dinner rolls and also had fried pickles and hot wings. Then we had the chicken fried chicken and different sides. Finally we had banana pie and coconut pie as dessert. I know we ordered lots of fried food and it was good. The pies were not good. The banana was all brown and the coconut time was so thick and not good at all. I will go back if I visited the town again

I had to come leave a review for our experience at First Watch on I-45 in Conroe because WOW. From…read morethe moment we walked in, the hospitality was unmatched. I came in with my mom, nana, husband, and my service dog, and our server Makayla genuinely made this one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time. What shocked me most is finding out she's actually pretty new, because she handled that busy brunch rush like a seasoned professional. She was incredibly attentive, kind, patient, and so thoughtful the entire time we were there. She made sure my family's coffee cups never went empty, constantly checked on us without hovering, and somehow managed to keep everything flowing smoothly even while the restaurant was packed. One thing that really stood out to me was how caring she was toward my service dog. Not everybody pays attention to those little details, but she did immediately. I ordered the Trio Breakfast with a plain waffle specifically for him, and without me even having to repeat myself, she made sure there was absolutely no butter or syrup on it because she remembered it was for my dog. That level of attentiveness meant a lot to me. Now let's talk about the MILLION DOLLAR POTATOES. Whoever created those deserves a raise immediately. As a pregnant woman in my first trimester, eating has honestly been a struggle lately because almost nothing sounds good or stays satisfying. Those potatoes were one of the first things in a while that actually made me excited to eat. They were savory, comforting, flavorful, and honestly addictive. I was so invested in those potatoes that I can barely even remember what the rest of my family ordered . I asked Makayla what was in them because I was genuinely blown away, and she took the time to explain everything to me so sweetly. She also made sure our food came out hot and quickly, and you could tell she truly cared about people having a good experience, not just "doing her job." I even asked to speak with her manager because excellent service deserves recognition. Aaron, the manager, was just as wonderful. You could tell he genuinely took pride in hearing positive feedback about Makayla, especially as a new hire. He thanked us for coming in, was extremely kind and informative, and honestly helped create such a welcoming atmosphere overall. I told my family I wish I could throw Makayla, Aaron, and the million dollar potatoes into my suitcase and bring them all back home to California with me . Unfortunately, there are no First Watch locations in California, which honestly feels criminal at this point. To Makayla and Aaron: thank you for making a pregnant woman, her family, and her service dog feel genuinely cared for. In a busy brunch restaurant, that level of hospitality is rare, and it absolutely did not go unnoticed. We will remember this experience for a very long time.

So keep that in mind. Our waitress was very kind and took our orders promptly. They took a while to come, but I attribute that to the busy morning. I got the trifecta, and enjoyed my meal and portion size. The blueberry pancake was a good choice and came with a compote that was a good addition. My bacon was slightly overcooked but my eggs were perfect. I really enjoyed my meal. If I lived in the area I would return.

It was a little quiet for a Friday, but we got there a little late for a night cap. The service was quick and friendly. The Chacho is a delicious smash style burger with great flavor. The Oaxaca Old Fashioned was also a unique take on the classic with mezcal and amaro. It got a little bitter for my taste, but those who enjoy a Negroni will love it.

Shout out to Isabella she was so sweet and helpful with ordering and made some pretty solid drinks. On Sunday they do have a limited menu for a bit for Sunday brunch just a warning. But they were sweet and accommodated us on a couple items we wanted to try. I tried the blood mary it was pretty good and spicy just wish it had a bit more tomato in it. We ordered the chips and queso, hot chicken sandwich, chicken quesadilla, and birria breakfast (don't judge we were hungry). Chips and queso were pretty solid might not add the onions on top next time but you also get plenty of chips. The hot chicken sandwich was just okay for me it was a little overfried/burnt but I still chowed down. Only other thing is I would like more sauce but you know those are little things. Chicken quesadilla was loaded with chicken and cheese so you get your money worth. My significant other was in love with the birria breakfast. The meat was so tender potatoes delicous and the flavors amazing. He did say it was some of the best birria meat he has had in a long time. Looking forward to coming back!
