I was able to get a fried shrimp po'boy and a bowl of seafood gumbo for under $12. The gumbo was tasty, but the po'boy was the All-Star. The shrimp was lightly breaded and fried, but was still "light" and didn't weigh my stomach down with grease. If you and your TV have separation anxiety, fear not. Because Fish Shack has multiple big screen TVs showing the various sports games of the day. The food came out pretty quickly even at the busiest time of the day. Check this place out! Love that Fish Shack opened up in Richardson. I ordered the catfish basket with 3 LARGE filets and onion rings. The batter on both the onion rings and catfish are very good and the catfish flakes deliciously. I also ordered a side cole slaw and this is the only thing that I would rethink. It tasted like chopped slaw greens and plain mayo. The beers are reasonably priced- under $4. This location is still relatively new, but I think it would be great if they could get the alert buzzers to let you know when your food is ready and not have the servers walking around calling out customers names. We were so very disappointed!! I don't know what all the hype is about. The only thing that was okay was the beer and the shrimp cocktail. It was over spiced when I asked for no/light spice. The frog legs were horrible with a capital H! Worst!! The fish taco -seriously they call that a fish taco!! I've only been to this location twice. The first time, I ordered the fried cod and it was okay. Served piping hot, but a little dark on the fry and greasy. The onion rings were good though. Today I went back with a friend and had chowder and a grilled shrimp salad. The salad part itself was fine, but the shrimp were not grilled, they were sauteed in a lot of oil, which made the small shrimp slimy. The chowder was neither creamy or chunky. It seemed to have little lumps of something pasty, which I finally determined were overcooked potatoes. I'll go back and try one of the grilled fish options and see how that goes. Totally loved it. Went in with my parents, including my dad who is disabled. We received wonderful service, great recommendations for my dad's dietary needs, and the prices were great. The atmosphere was awesome, they have booths and tables, music and Tvs with sports but the volume was perfect, I never felt like I had to raise my voice to be heard and my mom and I could relax and have a conversation. And there was an outdoor covered patio area, which I never find in the Richardson area. But seriously, the food was awesome. Maybe the best priced fish place around, a bit like an Awshuck's, with a flavor leaning to New Orleans. Go through a quick line, pay, they bring it to you. The seafood soup is the best I've ever had. If you need more, or a refill, there's a separate quick line for that. Tons of sauces available, as well as a whole bin of fresh horseradish ready to go. They don't have quite as large of a selection of fresh seafood as like a Seabreeze in Plano, or as big of a menu as Rockfish, but close. It's also definitely lower priced. Gumbo has a more creamy texture, going back for the 3rd time in 2 weeks tonight. Also: The original Plano location on 15th is good, but smaller, both seem to deliver the same product. Most of my family absolutely loves this place. It's great fish at a great price. This is a really nice location - the Plano Fish Shack is closer to my house, but this location has much more room for seating and such. There's still a line though, so come early and don't wait until you're starving. The only caveat is that I don't like fish, and they have limited non-fish items. Arrived for a late lunch and was not disappointed in the food. The Catfish special for Tues was 2 fillets, fries ( options of coleslaw or onion rings) and 2 hush puppies. My father had 2 catfish fillets and 4 shrimp with onion rings. The rings were delicious! The hush puppies were more dense then normal but I enjoyed them because they were not soaked with grease. When your food is ready an employee will yell your name across the restaurant, you raise your hand and they bring it over to the table. We will be back to try other things. read more

I enjoy coming to this place. It's a laid back atmosphere and the food is great. My favorite is the catfish. It's seasoned just right with a light batter. The red beans and rice are my second favorite (real deal). The shrimp is good as well. The staff are courteous and always greet me upon arrival. The teamwork here is amazing. The entertainment is cool. Various shows or sports games are always playing in every corner of the restaurant. They even have wifi. As Fish Shack veterans we were curious as to whether owner Frank Mihalopoulos could recreate the magic and charm of his Plano location. I could almost hear the crack of the bat and the crowd roar as we walked into Frank's latest power drive into left field. Fish Shack Richardson is not only larger than Plano but it has a different, almost pub like, feel. Like a close sibling but not a twin if you will. With some familiar faces, including Frank's, this place is charming and comfy in its own right. We both ordered the fried catfish and shrimp basket and a couple of cabernets. Our food arrived promptly, piping hot and cooked to perfection! The shrimp was tender and tasty while the catfish melted in my mouth! We dined slowly enjoying the atmosphere, wine and a brief chat with Frank himself. As Frank likes to say "It's all about the fish!" Stomp on home plate Frank, this one's a home run.
