I was worried about the hype but I was wrong! We had tried to eat here before but weren't able to wait for an hour or two. Fortunately we were looking for something to do and stumbled across DineLA week. We got there right before 10am and we're lucky enough to get squeezed into a table. The food was excellent. The raw bar appetizer was great. I had the soft shell crab which was good but I'd prefer it less seasoned. We had the whoopie pie and bread pudding which were delicious. The food was 4-5 stars but the service put it up to a 5. Service was attentive and not pretentious. We'll be back to try more. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here tonight during a bike ride. Our friends went here last month and highly recommended it. They were right to. The beet and farro salad was perfectly understated. The Scottish Salmon was cooked perfectly. The eggplant that the Japanese cod sits on is the best we've ever had. The cooked clams come in the most delightlfully salty tomato and broth. Moreover, the service was top notch. Alma at the door and Christine, our server, had an excitement about the food they were serving that shone through their exceptionally friendly, gregarious personalities. Lunch was amazing. We sampled numerous plates and each one got better than the last. The crab cake & tuna were so delicious and the oysters melt in your mouth. Wish I could have tried everything. The best crab cakes I've ever had. The mustard sauce overpowers the wonderful fresh crab, which is a shame. Just scrape it off. Oysters are great, and I think they taste the best with a drop of lemon and no sauce at all. Portions are small, so be prepared to shell out some money if you love to stuff your face like me. read more

I give this place 3.5 stars. We finally made it here on a rainy Thursday evening after all the hype. I had a 5:15pm reservation (the only reservation available for the evening) and got a call from the restaurant confirming the reservation that same morning. I told the person on the phone that we may be 10-15 minutes late because of traffic/rain and she said to call if we were going to be late and I said, "I'm telling you that we may be about 10 minutes late." I didn't understand why I had to call back to say I'm going to be late when I just repeated it 3x. Either cancel my reservation or put me on the wait list but don't tell me to call back when I'm telling you, I might be late! I told her we are going to try our best to be on time and we are excited about trying FwD- the conversation was a bit strange. Anyway, we were not late, a few minutes early actually. When we got there, the place was about 25% full and when we left an hour and a half later, the place was about 60% full. The rain may have had something to do with it. This place is quaint and cute. We started with the oysters. It tasted like a mouthful of ocean. Maybe I don't know enough about oysters but I actually prefer Fishbar's oysters over FwD! The hamachi crudo in ponzu was very fresh and flavorful. The beet and farro salad was very nice. The crab cake was probably the best I've ever had. Our server steered us toward the lobster pot pie and because it was cold and raining out, we went for it. For $26, it was disappointing. There were 3 small pieces of lobster, the vegetables were underdone, and the texture was very runny. The highlight of the evening was the chocolate pretzel bread pudding w/ ice cream and caramel sauce. $175 later, we left unsatisfied and underwhelmed. This place is overpriced. I guess we hyped it up too much. We are big fans of MB Post but we won't be going back to FwD anytime in the near future. read more

Our daughter and son in law had eaten here when we visited this summer. I had been trying to get us a table all week and settled for a 5:00 PM reservation. We showed up a little early and got the lunch menus and ordered a drink. Our waitress told us that she was leaving and she would turn the table over to the dinner staff. For some odd reason she stayed and boy were we happy. She guided us through the oysters, drinks, menu. Everything. It was like we had our own little FWD expert all to ourselves. The oysters are the best in the area. The whole fish is worth the wait and the price. There is no better meal or experience to be had in the South Bay and today that is saying a lot. read more

One of my favorite restaurants!! Time and time again the dishes never disappoint. I have been several times for dinner and recommend the koshihikari rice hands down! It's the best dish in my opinion. It's not fishy whatsoever and really flavorful! I also recommend the Peruvian scallops and the crab cake. Best crab cake ever! The pickled veggies are a great compliment. The quality of the seafood at this restaurant is really unbeatable. Everything is so tender and melts in your mouth. It is truly an experience coming here. The sub rosa (I think that's what it's called) cocktail is awesome. It comes in a good size glass and you get somewhat of a buzz for your $12.50. Not to mention, it's freaking delish. The service is on point as well. I went with my mom once and felt that some of our dishes were coming out later and were given the hamachi dish on the house to hold us over. We didn't even need to say anything to our waitress about the longer wait. The food arrived just as we were finishing the dish. This place is great gem in MB. I highly recommend! Enjoy! read more

We have been wanting to try this place for ages and finally were able to make a reservation for a Sunday night. We took the kids and had a fantastic meal. The only reason I am not giving five stars is that we had to ask several times for the drinks for the kids. Other than that the service was just fine and the food was delicious. The scallops from the raw bar are amazing and the oysters are maybe the best I have had since the last time i went out for oysters in Boston. The hamachi is incredible with a great slightly spicy sauce. The corn was fabulous with a bit of crunch and great spices. The poached salmon was the only thing i probably wouldn't order again--decent, but not as good as everything else with soba noodles that were only so-so.. Even the fish and chips was fantastic--very light and flaky. I would absolutely go back for more of their delicious food. read more

Fishing with Dynamite has the BEST grilled octopus I have had. Anywhere. And their quinoa salad is a close second. And their oysters are fresh and delightful. The service is really good. I sit at the bar since they are usually booked when I decide to go. The bartender takes care of you wonderfully though. Prices are high (plates are small) but worth every penny. Restaurant is loud however but I tune out as I savor the food. read more

Wow. Seriously the most delicious food ever! Also an amazing ambiance, very relaxed/cool vibe. I have never had raw scallops before but the peruvian scallops were sooo delicious, with a small amount of grapefruit and other spices to make it even more flavorful. The peach/buratta salad was also so flavorful and good. A little pricey if you get the raw bar stuff, but totally worth it! And the non-raw bar food was pretty reasonably priced for food of this quality. read more

So overrated! So loud I couldn't hear the server 2 of 3 times I tried to love it. I am a person that loves music and ambiance. However, I lprefer great food and great service over ambiance. The food was good, not great; messed up a simple order of scallops, no apology. The first time the server was arrogant and curt. The second time we sat at the teen-tiny bar and had a pleasant time with the bar tender. The last time our server was aloof and MIA. The only reason I was able to give this restaurant a second star was because the food was actually delicious. As far as the service I felt like we were forgotten while the couple next to us was getting service every couple minutes. I don't know if it was because we were a minority and "didn't look the part." Regardless, we only got the server when he brought out the food. I had to taken upon myself to ask for a refill when mine and my friends drinks were empty. The food was really delicious even though it was a small amount of food for a big price. The dining was very small and cramped.
