I've tried the breakfast and dinner meals so far, and I'm just finishing up my first week. I bought the Living Social deal. I love the service: delivery to my door before I leave for work, pickup of coolers, no hassles, easy to use containers, nutritional information easily available, lots of options (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) - no issues there at all and it worked really well for us. As for portion sizes and price, I'd say the prices are about in line or in some cases less expensive then going out to eat. When going out, you may get larger portions, but for me and my family, the portions were perfect. I'd much rather get a reasonable portion size than a ridiculously large amount of food that is going to either go to waste or put me in the gym for an extra our or two. I love that they are conscientious about the ingredients they use, and add super foods wherever they can, as we try to do the same when cooking in our household. The food itself was good. So far, nothing has been an over-the-top, give-me-a-moment-with-this-amazing-bite type of experience, but it has all been really good, solidly enjoyable, and satisfying, and I feel great about what I'm putting in my body whenever I eat a meal from them. I think our favorite so far was the shrimp mac and cheese, but my cottage cheese side was also unusually good this morning. I have to mention that with my egg scramble, my side of fruit ended up getting moldy (just one one of the two I ordered), after one day. But, I emailed Superfoods in Motion and they responded within minutes, and immediately refunded me for the meal. It could have been that the grapes were packaged with the meal while it was still warm, or just a bad batch that didn't start turning until after it was in route to me, but I was impressed by their customer service and this wouldn't stop me from ordering again. That said, this is an option I would use when I know I have a really busy week coming up, as a healthy alternative to going out to eat or throwing something convenient but not well-balanced on the table. I went in yesterday excited to try this place. I heard that they had very healthy options so I was eager to go see what they were all about. I got in there and the place was clean and big. I was expecting the type of place where you go in and place your order and they make the food fresh in front of you, which is always most healthy way to have it. The place looked clean and there were two people up front talking. I was less then pleased to see that there were two refrigerators off to the side of the building and I learned that all of there food for the day was already per made and delivered from their other location on Keifer blvd and that I would have to grab what I wanted out of the fridge, only to reheat it myself in a conventional oven.I would view this as a somewhat more health option to a T.V dinner. If there is one thing that I have learned from over the years, it is that re heating a product only kills the enzymes that are in the food that are needed for digestion. It was a complete turn off to me to see that all of the food was marked with 50% off labels. I feel that this will actually devalue whatever products that they have to offer, and it also led me to wonder how long the product was sitting on the shelf. Delivery is cheap or free, even though they recently added a $1.50 ice fee for the reuseable packs they collect anyway. The food quality, however, ranges from tasty to meh. It's wildly inconsistent. The best selections are casserole-style entrees. The meals with slices of chicken, pork tenderloin, or beef are sometimes edible but more often than not are as dry and tough as shoe leather. I have been a Fit Eats customer for a very long time. Their food tastes delicious, and is delivered right to my door-step (normally). My rating is not based on the quality of their food but rather an incident that took place with my last delivery. I'm a busy working mom (hence the delivery being a great option for me); when I placed my last order, I set the delivery date (April 29th) and walked away (not really putting a whole lot of thought into it). I place my empty delivery bags in a corner of my entry about 5 ft. away from the front door. Normally the fresh delivery is in 3-4 bags and they put them right on my door step next to my front door and take the empty bags with them. (FYI, my deliver instructions state to leave on door step). On the 29th I got home late after work and picking up my child from after school care. I noticed that the bags in the corner were tipped sideway and just figured my next door neighbors might have tipped them over as I'm in an apartment and two of us share an entry balcony. Two days ticked on and it dawned on me that I hadn't seen my Fit Eats delivery yet... I was pretty sure that I had set the delivery date to be the 29th, so I went back to my email to confirm. The bags in the corner that I thought were my empty used bags were tipped of so I thought, there's no way that's my food. 1. they delivery to my doorstep, not 5 feet away from the door and 2. why would the delivery be tipped over and disheveled? However, my order has never been delivered late, so I thought maybe I should check the tipped over bags in the corner... On the way out the door to do school drop off and head into the office I went to the corner and checked and sure enough, the delivery person had dropped off my food in the corner away from the exactly where my empty bags were, and left them disheveled. Now I have food that has been sitting on my porch for 2 days going bad, and leaking out of the containers into the freezer deliver bags. I called the Roseville Location, explained what happened, they were fantastic and said they would have a manager call me to fix the problem. Which, all I asked for was a re-delivery of the food since I just lost nearly $300 in food... I received a phone call from someone at the Corporate office stating that online orders go through them and not the local store; no problem. I explained what happened only to be met with well, you should have told us sooner. We have a window of time that this should have been reported in for a re-order on your food. I tried to explain that I didn't realize that I had missed the order until a couple of days later because I am a busy working mom and it was not on the top of my brain. I explained that all I wanted was a re-order of food so that I didn't miss the nearly $300 I had just spent. Again, she told me that she couldn't do anything because I should have called them earlier than I did... I insisted that I had been a long time customer and have never had a problem in the past, and she told me she would consult her owner and get back with me... It's been 9 days I and still have no resolution. I ended up having to throw the food and the bags away and no one has attempted to help me in any way. I had never had a problem before, the delivery person always delivered the bags of food to my door-step and picked up the empty bags in the corner. I had no idea that the disheveled bags in the corner where my empty bags were sitting were the new delivery with food in them. Why would they deliver food tipped over, and why would they sit the bags in the same spot as my empty ones instead of on my doorstep? You could not tell that the bags were full of food, they looked like they were my empty bags. Well, I walked in and got a thorough explanation from the lovely gentleman about the place and how it works. I went around 6pm on a Tuesday and they didn't have much selection. I chose a Asian inspired dish and I had so much hope for it, but when I put it in my microwave and started eating it was disappointing at best. No real flavor, the sauce wasn't that great and the tofu literally tasted like nothing. I consume tofu on a regular basis and it usually it has flavor, but this tasted like nothing. I am so disappointed that this place did not come through for me. I gave three stars because it is not the right fit for me, but I am happy that it is a right fit for others. I found out about this service from my fellow crossfitters, who are always on the lookout for healthy options and ways to fuel their bodies for workouts and life. I have a serious problem with being able to cook, because the daily routine doesn't allow a lot of time for it, especially during the week. We are often picking up sandwiches, or even worse take-out food, rather than cooking, because we have chores, the gym, or my son's homework to deal with. So finding a service that delivers healthy food in such a convenient fashion was an amazing event. Here's why I love it: 1. They use all organic, locally sourced ingredients. They have a variety of meals that meet a number of different dietary requirements, like gluten free, vegatarian, and paleo. 2. The CONVENIENCE! I woke up wednesday morning like it was christmas, and eagerly trotted to my front door to see that santa's magic bag really does exist, in the form of a soft sided cooler filled with perfectly packaged and prepared meals ready for me to transfer to my fridge, freezer, or lunch bag for the day. 3. No minimum order, very low delivery fee, and thats only if you spend less than $20. They allow you to keep the containers, recycle them, or return them to be used as ice packs. If you aren't going to order again within 2 weeks, you just schedule a pick up for the cooler. No hassle, no fuss. 5. I didn't have to decide what I wanted to order until the morning before the delivery date. They deliver mondays, wednesdays, and fridays, so its possible to not have to order a week's worth of food if you don't want to or aren't sure you need to. But they also offer a discount if you do order a week's worth or more. I'm sure I'll have more reasons to love them the more I use the service. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5: 1. So taste was great on everything I've had so far. I am concerned if I were to order a full week's worth of food, how they'd taste after having been frozen. And the steak tacos I tried tasted good, but the lettuce had already started to wilt because it was packaged with the meat. I'm thinking lettuce items need to have the lettuce packaged seperately to help avoid early wilting. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, pressed juices and desserts all of which are healthy and delicious. They offer delivery three times a week. I am a fan. I didn't think I would be, I usually cringe at the words healthy and food used together. When asked if I want the non fat, low fat, or sugar free options I shake my head. Why bother eating it if it's not going to taste half as good. So when a friend mentioned this place that delivered healthy foods to your door months ago, I was skeptical. I never did try it then, but when it opened around the corner and I was told by my cousin they were offering a free meal voucher for their grand opening I was like "eh, I'll try it for free". I didn't expect much since it was microwaveable healthy food. I did the surf and turf, which had shrimp, steak, brussel sprouts, and mashed cauliflower and potatoes. I opted for the large size that cost a few extra dollars, so it came out the $3 after my voucher that gave me $8.99 off. Not bad. I heated up the food per directions and tasted it. It was a little bland for me, but after a liberal amount of salt added (I'm a bit of a salt fiend), it was quite tasty. The cauliflower and potato mash worked really well as a healthier substitute for mashed potatoes. The shrimp in particular was really good, not over cooked at all and nicely seasoned (so much better than any frozen shrimp entree you find in the freezer section). I felt like I was eating a pretty well balanced meal that was only 365 calories and I was stuffed, I probably should have done the regular size.. I ended up getting the surf and turf again a few days later and ate half of the large as a light meal, and got two light meals out of it, add a piece of fruit or a slice of cake and it's a nice little meal. Since then I've gotten the chili pasta and nachos. Both really good. Chili and pasta don't sound like they mix all that well, but it worked. It had a nice spice and was really filling. The chip part of the nachos got a little soggy, so instead of eating it like nachos I just mixed them in with the dish when heating it. The only issue I have with this place is the price, it's kind of expensive for food that is not made to order. I've been trying to watch my calorie intake so this place is great for that, but it's hard paying $9-$11 for something that you microwave when you could go get a made to order salad at Prontos or Jack's across the street or a few blocks away for the same price. The concept is great (healthy and convenient meals), but I feel like the prices make more sense for food that's delivered directly to you, but for food that's picked up at the store it would be nice if prices were a few dollars less, like $6-$8 for meals (especially since there are so many food options in the immediate area). read more

Update!!!!! I've been on for eats for about 2 months. Recently I have quit ordering food and here's why. Their food is really bland! From the get go, I get that they use minimal salt, which is fine. But let me get to that part. Their Mongolian beef is really good! #1 sometimes my noodles are over cooked. #2 the cilantro rice and beef taste like old lemon. Straight up, lol. Like really? -___- Okay whatever, I felt with it but the final straw for me was, when I had ordered me a chicken plate and 2 pieces of the chicken were RAW!!!! . I just had Fit Eats for the first time today and I'm in love. It's the perfect option for when you don't want to cook but you don't want all the unhealthy crap that comes with take-out food. It is 10000% more filling and tastes way better than a grocery store frozen meal. You know exactly what's in everything, because every container has a nutrition label, ingredient list, and even weight watchers points. You basically walk in and there are fridges lined up full of meals to pick from, you don't have to pre-order or wait for them to make anything. The food is fresh and healthy but still really satisfying. They also have a delivery option, but I haven't tried that yet. I work around the corner, so it's very easy for me to pop in and grab something for lunch, without having to use my lunch hour waiting on take-out food somewhere else. I've used Fit Eats delivery several times in the past ... the food is passable because of the convenience, but the delivery isn't dependable and their customer service person is rude and totally unsympathetic to missed deliveries. The delivery person claimed he couldn't get in the building, but I was able to go down a short while later and unlock the door with the same code he was given. She said she could send me a video of him trying to get in (which she never did) but refused to even consider the idea that their delivery person didn't try very hard, or didn't know how to follow instructions. The only reason I'm giving them any stars at all is because their delivery package is convenient and doesn't include a ton of stuff that needs to be recycled and/or trashed. Pros: Healthy ingredients, many gluten-free options, portion control, yummy, delivered to your doorstep (or sometimes available for a big discount in store), quick/easy meals pre-made so you can eat-on-the-go and stay healthy - and they rotate the menu weekly so it's nice to have new and different options so you're not stuck eating the same thing over and over and over and over and over Room for improvement: a number of awesome-looking meals could be EASILY made gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce or using gf pasta in every pasta dish rather than just some of them; and many dishes could be made dairy-free by having the cheese on the side. Many people who eat "this way" (meaning, the fit eats way) are stricter paleo or, in our case, have allergy/medical restrictions - our son has Celiac Disease and we cannot bring gluten (of any kind or amount) into our home, and we have dairy allergies. Fit eats has made huge improvements since opening years ago. I used to get meals delivered 5/6 years ago but had stopped for taste related reasons. I forgot to pack my lunch to work and was hoping for a quick healthy lunch, I decided to give them a second chance! I ordered the impossible taco salad through a 3rd party delivery service and I was delivered the impossible spaghetti, I assume they were out of the salad and went with another plant Based option. I was bummed at first but the spaghetti was really yummy and not overly salty like I was afraid of. I'll definitely use them as my go to for days I don't bring my lunch, they also have some snacks and treats to fit a healthy lifestyle. My only "complaint" is there was a lot of oil at the bottom of my container but that may have just been how the impossible meat is. Total rip-off, on their website the food looks like it's been freshly prepared, when I get there to pick it up, it's pre packaged microwave food, that you have to take home and reheat. I could have brought the same thing at the grocery store, for half the price.In addition, the food was total crap. read more

Been going to Fit Eats downtown for about 2 years. Loved the food up until a few months ago. I really can't pinpoint what it is, but the meals are so bland these days (maybe that's exactly what it is! ). I mean, I know the chefs and everyone else behind the scenes are well-meaning and working hard, but it's not what it used to be. I used to scarf down the Steak and Chicken Quesadillas (which haven't been available for a long time), the Steak and Strawberry Salad, Grilled Steak and Loaded Potatoes (not available anymore) and a few others, but I don't even have a favorite dish anymore. The Steak Burrito is bland, same with the Carne Asada bowl, and the Achiote Chicken bowl that I'm eating right now is on the dry side and not enough sauce. Not sure if it's me or what, but I essentially paid $11 for about 3 ounces of dry chicken with barely any sauce. I'll tell you what, though. Not enjoying great tasting meals lately has prompted me to be diligent in prepping my own meals. I would visit Fit Eats when time was tight and I didn't want to resort to the junk crap that's available downtown, and I know that I'll still buy meals from Fit Eats when pinched for time, but definitely not as a big part of my normal healthy eating routine. I would recommend Fit Eats to my friends, but I'll hold back on that for a while (not that I have any significant pull in my peers' meal choices or anything). As far as customer service, eh, didn't pay too much attention. I don't expect the "OMG, welcome to Fit Eats! We are so happy to have you!". I don't care if I get a smile or not, but I've never had a problem getting service. I don't remember names, but they have all been nice to me, whether it's with a smile, or not. But the lady who rang me up today was very nice and remembered my name from about 3 weeks ago and remembered that I'm a state worker! Now, that's customer service! I decided that since the amazon local deal was up that would be a great way to be introduced to this place. 15 bucks for 30 dollars worth of food seemed like a good deal. Overall I think it was an ok option. I got 3 meals. Pad thai, turkey burger with cheese sauce and the bbq turkey burger. The turkey burger patty is amazing so good. I would get that again the pad thai looked like a tiny portion and not very appetizing. But it tasted great. Very good meals I do think the price is a little high but the ingredients are quality so that's probably why. I got the delivery option. I had 3 meals delivered. The 1st and the 3rd were great had no idea they came but the 2nd one made a lot of noise. My dog went nuts at 2:30 in the morning waking the whole house up. I think opening a store was a good idea and since I need to return my bag I'll just pick up more food. read more

I find this place to be way overpriced the food here really isn't even that good, if you know how to cook even halfway decent you can make something better than this. The quality ingredients seem far from. I usually would stop in at the downtown location for a quick lunch since it's a nearby my office. I generally find at the flavors in the food are lacking I find that they use odd seasonings that are out of place for the types of food that they are cooking. Almost as though their Cooks think that being a good cook means throwing in a bunch of random spices. I find that sometimes it who can be odd and unpalatable . Furthermore I find that the women that work in the downtown location are exceptionally rude. you can expect to get condescending scowls for no apparent reason, disapproving head shakes and a generally unhappy employee. You honestly would think that when somebody comes into your business that you would treat them well so that they might actually want to come back again. I tried this place twice and I can say I will never be back. The rudeness that occurs in this storefront is unbearable the subpar mediocre flavors don't even make up for it. I have no idea why or how this place was featured on the news but there must have been some real money changing hands because I can say this place is not newsworthy at all.
