I have never received such disrespect and horrible customer-service in my life and its sad that it had to come from the dealership I trusted to sell me a car and service it when it failed just 1 year after buying it. First off, Fitzgerald Auto Malls does not believe in honest practices and 100 percent customer focus. I was sold a car that had the engine light disconnected in it and had a flooded engine. I received a fake car fax report upon buying the vehicle and when the vehicle was serviced the technician DID NOT complete all repairs that I paid for, the service center assistant manager even allowed the salesman who intially sold me my car in 2012 to make changes to my account as in add on costly repairs without my consent. I ended up spending 3,500 dollars total on a change of timing belt, tune up, spark plugs, wheel alignment, tire rotation and balancing, bushing, fuel filter and etc. The technician at this location only aligned 2 out of 4 of the wheels and damaged my distributor which later had to be replaced. Not only that, my engine was revving way to high and way to loud after picking it up after its initial repairs were done. When I got my ac serviced here, the technician broke my fins and left his work rag on my drivers seat and damaged the belt in my drivers door. In addition to that, the ac along with the heating system failed to work just 3 days shy of the technicians here servicing it. When you get an oil change they supposedly also perform an express wash on the vehicle. Out of the 6 times I got an oil change done here apart of my lifetime buyer protection benefits a plan I paid $500 for when first buying my vehicle here, my vehicle was never washed and the technician never cared to ask if I wanted it done. The staff here just simply let me drive my car out of the service center in filth. I've complained several times to the service manager, service director, and even wrote a personal letter by email to owners Jack & Dorothy Fitzgerald of the horrible service I've received from the staff here and the countless mistakes they've made on my vehicle that has costed me hundreds of dollars to get fixed elsewhere. As a result, I received a letter from the Senior Management Rep at this location that my benefits under the lifetime buyer protection program has been cancelled and my account has been closed. All because I complained that my vehicle was being returned to me much worse then when I initially brought it in. I should have went along with my first instinct of not going anywhere near this dealership when I had first read a review here about a young lady who got her brakes serviced and the next day her car blew up. Now I'm out of $3,500 dollars and forced to drive a vehicle that Fitzgerald damaged and wont take ownership of. Trust me when I say that this is the last place you want to buy a vehicle or get it serviced at. This company is a sham. Trust that 1 star isn't even due to this company, but because that is what is required to even write this post that's the only reason why they are receiving it. Find a more reputable service center and dealership to deal with other than Fiztgerald AutoMalls Rockville. For a labor rate of $122.95 cents an hour the technicians here can't even service an ac properly what makes you think they will accurately and properly service your vehicle? One of the guys who inserts the sticker numbers on cars that are being dropped off for service even asked me if my job was hiring. That goes to show you that the staff more likely don't want to be here much less want to care about your vehicle or what happens to it. read more

I have seen lots of negative reviews for Fitzgerald's - this is not one of them. I guess it is human nature to complain more than to praise. We have purchased our last 5 cars from Fitzgerald and for the most part Fitzgerald's has done all the service work on the cars. My experience today is what led me to Fitzgerald's in the first place, and why I keep going back. 2 years ago we purchased a 2006 for our son who is now 25 and working part-time as he finishes school. Last Friday he took his car to a Firestone Service location near his house as he was hearing noise in the front suspension and noticed that the car bounced alot on the road. He thought he needed new shocks. They told him that he needed to replace the bushings, and that on his car, this meant also replacing the ball joint, the control arm, and the tie rods on the right side of the car. He also needed new brakes - front and rear. Total price - $1900. Too bad for them that he called me. I authorized them to do the brakes ($500) and told them I wanted a second opinion on the rest of the work. Their response, was to ask me "what price do you want to pay..?" That did not inspire confidence in their abilities. I called Ken Horn, who has worked with me at the Hyundai/Subaru dealership for 12 years. I explained the situation and then made an appointment for Tuesday. Tuesday morning after the mechanics had looked at the car Ken told me that the bushings were fine, but that the right front ball joint was dangerously close to breaking and that the left one was very worn. He said, he thought the tie rods would be ok, but couldn't be 100% sure until they fixed the ball joints. I authorized him to do that work (estimate - $600). Later in the day we spoke again, and he confirmed that the tie rods did not need to be replaced. He did find several lights that needed to be fixed (license plate and marker), and I authorized those as well. With a discount coupon that I provided - the total came to $540. At Firestone this would have been $1400 and it wouldn't have addressed the left ball joint or fixed the burnt out lights! I first started working with Ken 12 years ago when I realized the Subaru dealer that I was using no longer had competent service technicians. The dealership changed hands and it was clear the new owners' theory was to make money by dumbing down the technicians. I looked around and then called Fitzgerald's and ended up speaking to Ken. He told me that Subaru rates their Dealers for Service quality and pointed me to their website and information about Fitzgerald. We then discussed my repair situation, which was a serious issue. W/o going into all the details, it unfolded much like the situation above. A repair that I had previously been told was going to cost $3k or more, and might not even be fixable, became something that was fixable, and cost $1500. That began our experience with Fitzgerald. I have the same type of relationship with the Fitzgerald Toyota Service team as I do with Ken's group. With the Toyota group, I work with Dan Rodkey. He has helped me for 7 years. I have 177,000 miles on my Rav4 and it continues to do well. It really comes down to trust and good service. My experience has been Good Service with people that I know I can trust. read more

I bought a new Subaru WRX CVT in WR Blue. The salesperson was fair, patient, listened to my end, took my data and gave me a good deal both on the trade side (there is a trade evaluation person who was also nice) and the new car side - I did not rob them and they did not rob me - it was as pleasant as a car purchase gets in that it was pretty much no haggling save they don't screw with you and force you to swallow a big price - it was a great price up front and a willingness to hear data if that was not good enough. Very midwestern in style - nice. No pressure. Actually very busy in sales (Subaru). Service staff was amazing when I put on snow capable tires and some accessories. The car is amazing. They are under construction so it is not a dealership with a lot to look at right now - but the staff were super nice and in the end I got a great car at a super price. Full synthetic oil change was 65 (I just checked, did not get one yet). That covers about 6 quarts of full synthetic, time in the air for a real mechanic, and an inspection of the car buy a person who knows the car's nuances. Full synthetic is about 7-8 a quart so say that is 45$ in oil, then a 5 dollar filter...so 15 dollars to cover a 120/hr person....seems pretty cheap. And they dispose of the oil and if they mess it up (like strip a drain bolt) it is on them. I've done my oil before and given the time to do it and the time to head to the parts store to dump the old oil, this is a really good deal. In summary, my experience was quite positive. I had a good financial outcome and worked with an attentive and expert team (Tom Redlack was my salesman). Don't judge the place by the building (it is getting worse before it gets better...they are getting quad trailers....). The work is good and they seem to really care about you even after they don't have to do so. They know it is a business and that customers are important - and they listen well. Yes, I'd recommend the place to a friend or a family member. No, I don't feel I got ripped off. No, they did not put me up to this. Oh, the place is pretty "green" as car shops go - that is important to me too. The above applies to their Subaru sales and Subaru service. read more

I'm writing this review to raise awareness about a deeply troubling experience involving a Subaru service technician named Lucas Rashid at this dealership On September 27th 2025 at around 1pm, Mr. Rashid created a fake Instagram account to post vile and offensive comments under multiple photos of my friend. The remarks included racist, sexist, and classist language targeting Latinos, women, and individuals from lower-income backgrounds. The account was deleted shortly after, but I have screenshots and video evidence of the posts. Out of concern for my friend's safety, I have redacted her name and image from the evidence, as she fears potential retaliation from Mr. Rashid. Sadly, this fear is not unfounded. This is not an isolated incident. Around the same time last year, I personally visited this dealership to ask Mr. Rashid to stop harassing and stalking me via text. I was later granted a restraining order through my university (American University in Washington, DC). Despite that, his behavior has continued, and escalated, now targeting my friends online as well. Like many victims of long-term emotional abuse and stalking, I remained silent for far too long. I protected him, hoping he would stop. I wanted to believe that the person I once knew was capable of change. But silence only allowed the harm to continue, and spread to others. I sincerely hope this behavior does not reflect the values of Subaru, a brand I believed stood for respect, inclusion, and integrity. But allowing someone with a known pattern of harassment to represent your dealership, ESPECIALLY IN A PUBLIC FACING ROLE, is incredibly dangerous, particularly for young women who may be customers or coworkers. I URGE ALL WOMEN, THOSE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT WOMEN, AND MEMBERS OF THE LATINO COMMUNITY TO TAKE A STAND AND HOLD THIS DEALERSHIP ACCOUNTABLE UNTIL MANAGEMENT ADDRESSES THIS MATTER RESPONSIBLY, No one should feel unsafe walking into a place of business, especially not because of an employee's ongoing pattern of harassment, hate, and intimidation. read more

In the first part of this year I went looking to buy a new car. I visited three Subaru dealers (for Outbacks and Foresters) and one Kia dealer (for Sedonas). This dealer is one of these four. Since I have no ulterior motive and don't want to give the appearance of having one, I am not naming the other three dealers in this review. I ended up buying an Outback, but not from Fitzgerald Subaru. And of the 4 places I dealt with, this is the only one where I had a very negative experience. Some details: The first sales person that luck assigned me seemed unsuited for the job. When after some test driving I told her that compared to the Forester the console in the Outback got in the way of my right elbow when turning to the right, she snapped that the consoles were the same in both models. It turned out she was calling the big display screen in the center of the dash the "console". Huh? She thought a flat screen on the dash was getting in the way of my elbow??? The Subaru manuals call the physical thing between the two front seats the "center console" - which is what I was referring to. And the manuals call those flat things on the dash "displays" or "screens" - but never consoles. On another test drive in cold weather she had the heat blasting. I asked her to turn it down, but she replied that she was freezing. So much for the customer being right. At that point I decided I had had it with her. I asked for and got another salesperson. But when I asked to take a route where I would need to take repeated right turns over a short period of time, to check out mow much the console issue would bother me, he just didn't seem to get what I was asking for. Also, I received several e-mails from Fitzgerald during this process, telling me to let them know if I had any questions. Twice I did so in a "respond" to their email. Neither time did they ever follow up with me. There was more, but 'nuf said. read more

My husband and I each own Subarus, and Fitzgerald Subaru is the only place we trust for our repair and maintenance work. My first Subaru (RIP 2005) was serviced by a local garage (ASE certified) where I knew the owner and mechanics for several years. Stupid me. I'm sure I was taken advantage of and that my car received less than competent care on numerous occasions, now that I know more about cars in general and Subarus in particular. I have no such qualms about Fitzgerald's service advisors or mechanics. For the past 8 years I've been very impressed with the staff, and have never felt that I've been given bad advice or that my car wasn't fixed correctly the first time around. My husband actually bought his Subaru at Fitzgerald a couple of years later based on my experience with the dealership. Similarly, he is equally pleased with the care and attention he and his car have received. Ken Horn, one of the service advisors, is our particular favorite. He knows Subarus, he calls you when he says he's going to call you, and he always goes out of his way to make sure you're happy. If additional repairs are needed after receiving an initial quote, he always calls to ask permission before the work is done. We've never been surprised by a repair bill. And finally, if several things are recommended and money is tight, Ken will prioritize what work is most important and never pressures us to do more than we can afford at any given time. I am giving one star because we did love the car but the after sale is extremely disappointing. In April of 2017, we purchased a one-year old Subaru Forester at Fitzgerald Subaru. We love the car and have no regrets buying it. We are, however, very disappointed with Fitzgerald Subaru in Rockville. During settlement, the settlement manager (Tony) sold us a service plan for our car. It sounded like a good deal, so we bought into the sales pitch and purchased the service. Come time to service our car, the service area informed us that the car is not eligible for the plan because it was a rental before we bought it. So we paid for a service that Subaru service area will not honor. That would have been fine for us. Just refund the money, we said. However, when it came time to refund us the several hundred dollars we spent for the service, Subaru Rockville has so far not refunded us the money. It is now more than 18 months, seven phone calls and at least two face to face discussions with Tony, and we have yet to receive the refund. So my recommendation to anyone who wants to buy a car from Fitzgerald Subaru, be very careful with the sales pitch. Its all bull. After-sale service in this place is nonexistent, so have your lawyer's phone number handy. read more

I purchased my 98 Outback from Fitzgerald White Flint mall in Oct 97. I have never taken it any where else for service and never will even though I live in Falls Church. They're the epitome of elite customer service; friendly, professional, dependable and honest. I have NEVER taken my car back because of subpar or incorrect work. I have always followed their advice on preventive maintenance and addressed the issues they identify. In nearly 17 years this car has never stranded me. Coincidence? I think Not. You can trust their estimate of repairs, costs and expected time of completion. They have your best interest at heart. If they didn't I wouldn't have kept going back. I have known Ken, Henry and Pierre as honorable men and I trust them completely. I will purchase my next car from Fitz because of them. I don't take chances, I stay with a great thing when I have it. I have always bragged on the service I receive to anyone when cars and their repairs are discussed. Prior to purchasing my Outback and having it serviced by Fitz White Flint I couldn't rely on anyone. Yes repairs suck, I hate them and don't want them but their inevitable, a great service department like theirs lessens the pain at a fair price. you can't ask for more than that. read more

Okay, I'm sold...here is the story of my trip home. There I am in my brand new car, with the Saturday afternoon traffic just as pushy and mean as ever. I can't change lanes for love nor money, so I miss the first two turns trying to get back to I 270. I am hopelessly lost, the screen is small and I can't quite follow the plan. I am stuck in the right lane and all the turns go left. I am near tears and terribly hungry. At this point a little black box appears on the screen under the GPS map with some colored dots and a microphone in it. I sneer. Finally the penny drops and I touch the mic, and say "Find me a Chik-Fil-A near me." "Okay," says that AI Voice that drives me crazy, "I've found two." Sparing you the tale of how I actually got to the nearest one (mostly taking right turns, u-ing, and crossing the intersection in the correct direction,) eventually I arrive. There is only a short line, I get fed, and the world gets back into sync. So now I understand why people swear by this stuff. Yay, Subaru! Yay you for telling me that it would work. I normally don't take the time to post feedback, but buying a car can be a stressful event, so I elected to share the following: After 2 months in looking for a used car that was safe and within my budget for my kids to share, I finally bought one this weekend from Fitz Rockville Auto Mall. I can see why they've been in business as long as they have, because they made it a painless experience. It starts at the top-Kevin Flynn, Sales Manager exhibited tremendous Customer Service and Actually Listened to My Needs. I was buying the car not the experience, but the little things did matter, even like having the car cleaned and ready. If I'm in need of a car again, I'll be certain to call Kevin. Twain was my Sales consultant, and he too demonstrated consistent customer service and was thorough in reviewing the details. Again it started with Kevin and followed with Twain, details did matter, like pulling the car outside the finance office, so I wouldn't have to "hobble on my crutches" across the parking lot. This is my first review, so please bear with me if I drone on too long. I'm not going to say why they tried to exploit me because I don't want you to think I am playing the race card. Instead, I will just tell you that they told me my battery needed replacement and wanted to charge me 200. I told him I would think about it and then went to get the battery tested. I thought if I really did need a new battery, I could easily change it for 100. Well, the battery tested perfectly. It's only 1 year old in the first place. I went back and asked Fitzgerald what's up? They tested it again and said it was fine now! Ok, maybe they made a mistake? I don't think so. Here's why. There was a lady in the service office and they told her the same thing they told me, that her battery was bad. She said she just got it replace less than a year ago. The service person insisted it was bad and wouldn't last the winter. The lady gave in and they destroyed her for $200. That's what I call dishonest behavior. I would recommend staying away from Fitzgerald Subaru due to them not being honest. read more

While their selection isn't huge, I definitely recommend Fitzgerald Subaru if you are in the market for either a certified pre-owned or new model. They are able to customize your preferred model and have a large enough network of sister dealerships to find what you are looking for. I appreciated the transparent pricing system, and given my sister works with 1000's of used car dealerships around the country with her job at CarGurus.com, she was able to check on the prices of the certified pre-owned Subaru Foresters we were interested and confirmed that Fitzgerald's pricing was fair, and sometimes below the blue book value. If you are looking for a Subaru in particular, I highly recommend Kimberly. She has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of all things Subaru and is very thorough. While some folks may not want to take their time and fully learn about the car they are buying, I absolutely appreciated it. She gave us zero pressure to buy or "seal the deal" and was willing to work late and go the extra mile to ensure we found exactly what we were looking for. read more

I always go to Fitzgerald's White Flint service department for maintenance check ups and repairs. We have purchased our cars from Fitzgerald over the past 20 years, and have worked with Ken Horn, who is amazing, really knows his stuff, and I feel is the most honest and trustworthy service manager I've ever worked with. I own a Subaru Forester and have been very happy with the car, and over the years Ken has guided me on service check ups, has never been pushy or quoted over the top prices, and is always accommodating whenever I need to bring in my car on short notice (which includes yesterday). The White Flint service department is one of the main reasons why we continue to buy our cars at Fitzgerald. We've dealt with other car dealerships and repair shops in the past and have been taken advantage of, and this is the only place that we feel is honest with their assessments and estimates. Same experience as Anne: "Lack of respect for customers' time + dishonest pricing practices + disorganization = AVOID THIS SHOP" I brought my car to this dealer in the morning and it took them until the next day to look at it. They said it needed 2 parts replaced, with a bill of $1.2K. I had it towed to a second shop and this shop said only one part is really defective, the other is still ok. I saved $600 just from that. To make matters worse, this dealer's service tech did not replace the engine cover, so the 2nd shop had to look for accessories to put it back on. I had to go another day without a car for that- a total of 2 days wasted because of this dealer. They didn't even apologize for their mistake, just told me callously to bring it back. You'd think they'd do an excellent job with a new customer to make them come back, but not the case with this one. Their questionable diagnosis and sloppy work does not make them worthy of recommendation. Be forewarned. read more

I'm so glad I found Fitzgerald's! I was afraid I'd get ripped off by fast talking salesmen. I was pleasantly surprised by what they call the FitzWay. The transparency, clear explanations and simple discounted pricing was a refreshing surprise. I lucked out and got a wonderful female Sales Associate. Kimberly Francis was patient and answered all my questions without making me feel foolish. She was knowledgeable and honest. She didn't hesitate to admit if she didn't know something and always got me the answer. I came in looking for a new Subaru and in the end Kimberly helped me find the perfect car for me which was a Certified Pre Owned Subaru Forester which came with a great warranty. She didn't try to upsell me or try to get me to buy the most expensive car. Not having to waste a lot of time going back and forth playing negotiating games was great. I checked around and their pricing was more than fair. I couldn't be happier. They get a 10 out of 10! read more

This place is GREAT! No haggling, prices are already set to best/lowest available pricing available, so no need to sit around a round table with dealership sales manager at the head. The whole dealership worked in unison to get me the best rates, without being pushy. My sales agent was Tom Redlack, he was nice, clam, and explained to me everything i needed to know. Tanya, in charge of sales and loans worked very hard and quickly to get me my rates which i was looking for, while Tome in the front end explored with me the best automobile to suit my needs. They also sheilded me from getting shafted by other dealersips and the whole experience from start to finish was very quick. They treated me as if I was a family member. I ended up getting a 2013 Hyundai Limited Sonata Hybrid, and I love my new car. FYI - I went to Darcars 355 Nissan and Toyota and my experience there was complete SH*T Thanks Tom, Tanya, and 355 Suburu/Hyundai Fitzgerald! read more

Fitzgerald Auto Mall service is by far the best auto service that I have done business with in the Washington metropolitan area. The staff are friendly and kind and know you and your car very well. They always go out of their way to tell you everything you need to know at your visit such as what needs to be done in addition to what you came in for. They thoroughly explain how long it might take, the costs, what can wait, what has to be done. They take care of all the little things as well such as wiper blades, lights, fuses, etc. I trust the staff completely with the maintenance of my 2005 Subaru Outback Sport. They return the car to me cleaner than when I arrived and always wash the exterior. And for the record, they have the best waiting room around- comfortable chairs, wi-fi, tv trays, big screen tv, free coffee and snacks. When the time comes, I will probably also purchase another vehicle from this dealership. read more

This was a very good experience. Fitzgerald was the only dealership within 100 miles of our house that had the year, make, color and model car with the right miles and options my wife and I were looking for. The night before we went to look at the car, Ben T spent close to an hour answering my questions via chat. He was not trying to sell me the car as much as he was trying to honestly answer my questions which he did. I very much appreciated that because we were not disappointed in what we saw when we got to the dealership the next afternoon. That was important because I had to take a day off from work to go see the car. I've bought numerous cars over the years, so I like the idea of the no haggle price...However there was some haggling when it came to the price of our trade-in. In the end, Fitzgerald gave us a fair price for our trade-in and a few hours later, we were driving home in a new car. read more

I was getting a warning on the dashboard of my Subaru that I needed to have my engine checked so I brought it over to Fitzgerald. I had to leave it for the day and about 5 PM they called me and told me I needed to have some gaskets changed and that it would cost about 1,000. I told them it was too much and they charged me $250 for the evaluation. I brought it over to White Flint Auto and they told me the gaskets and all seals were fine and that my oil filter wasn't tight and was leaking a bit. . They tightened it for free and never had another problem. That was 1,000 miles ago (more than a month). Fitzgerald Subaru service department tried to scam me. Sadly they ripped me off for the 250 assessment, but at least I didn't get destroyed for the $1,000 they quoted me. I suggest you take your car to White Flint Auto, or anywhere but Fitzgerald Subaru. read more
