Our first time having heard many good things over the years. I'll also say I have never had boiled fish as I'm more old school fish fry guy. The texture is more like lobster as many have mentioned with no fishy taste. Firm and flaky and not oily. Put a little butter on it and you might think it's not fish. I also had the ribs which are par boiled and then finished on the grill perfectly. Along with potatoes and onions and throw some rye bread and you're set. They have 3 things on the menu keeping it simple and they do it right. Small bar but they have what you need most likely. This is a really unique place! The decor is vintage (which we liked) and has an older feel that is cool. The food was excellent. I'm a fish fry gal so I was worried about the "boil" part but it was delicious and absolutely worth the money. The only downers was I wouldn't say it's necessarily kid friendly as it was a quite atmosphere, it was very difficult to get soda refills, and the chairs were very wobbly. We recently made our second trip to Fitzgerald's. We found this gem last year. My husband and I were crazy about it and could not wait to share it with our family. We returned last week with a group of seven which included four family members who were visiting from out of state. The restaurant did well to accommodate us by putting together tables and making sure it was wheelchair accessible for my 96 year old mother. To make a long story short we had a great time except for one member of the staff. The young woman handing out the food obviously did not want to be there. Despite our attempts to be friendly, she was just non-responsive; fair enough. But then one member of our party went to the table and asked for dessert and was denied because she had already had one. When my niece said she had not, the girl again refused to serve her! Really? I guess this is her way to feel important. Half the people in our party did not want the dessert which is included with the meal; she should have just given it to her. She ticked off a whole table of people for no apparent reason and it basically spoiled the feeling of good will at our table that evening. Believe it or not it just did. I guess it was because she had been so unfriendly all evening. Thank heavens the young woman serving the drinks was nice. We tipped her generously even though we realized that they probably would split the tips.... read more

The most important thing to note is they are CASH only so keep that in mind. They do have an ATM on the premises if you need it. This place hosts a good old-fashioned fish boil, all you can eat, and boy do they do a fantastic job! The fish is skinless/boneless cod and they also have BBQ ribs & chicken and you can purchase either just the fish boil, fish & chicken combo or the heavenly trifecta of fish/chicken/ribs - they might have other combos as well but those are all I recall. At $14 per person for the fish boil & $18 for the trifecta of fish/chicken/ribs - AND it's AYCE, it's a steal. Each meal includes coleslaw, boiled potatoes & onions, rye bread (very soft & fresh) & butter, whatever meat option(s) you paid for and for the fish/potatoes/onions they ask if you want it with drawn butter (and who wouldn't want it with butter?!?), along with a apple slice/cake for dessert. You can also get water & coffee at no charge. If you get soft drinks there are NO free refills and if you want a cocktail you have to go to the bar to place your order & pay for the drinks (their website lists cocktail service at you table but when we were there everyone was going to the bar to order). All the food was delicious and the cod along with the drawn butter really tasted just as sweet & succulent as lobster! The BBQ ribs were very meaty and the sauce on the chicken & ribs was quite good. They have a decent amount of seating both downstairs & upstairs as well as a large covered patio and deck area outside where you can watch the action with the boiling cauldrons of deliciousness and the wood grill. The people were all quite friendly but I felt the service was a bit out of sorts on the day we visited (a Sunday afternoon) and that is why I'm not giving them 5 stars. The friends we went with said they normally have a separate cashier selling the tickets for the food but this time there was a sign on that register that said, "Tickets on sale at the bar today" - so everyone arriving was ordering their cocktails and their food tickets all from the one bartender...which really took a long time. There seemed to be plenty of employees so I'm not sure why someone wasn't running the separate register, but from the time we arrived to the time we finally got our drinks and the food tickets we had been there 20 minutes standing in the tiny area around the small bar right at the entrance and in that time quite a line had formed to get in. I guess it isn't always this way so I'm not sure what the deal was. read more

Soooo, I feel like I need to set the record straight: IMO, the cod does not taste like lobster despite some of the other Yelpers comment. I can see where some folks might say it reminds them of lobster a bit, but if you are actually in the mood for lobster, this probably won't quench that need. However, the fish was still delicious! I have never had boiled fish, but I was fascinated with the process. I have always believed that the most simple menus have the most delicious food since they have less items to perfect, and this place definitely proved my theory correct. I love that the bartender was such as great conversationalist and all of the staff were super welcoming and friendly. I also enjoyed the classic historical country decor. I was most surprised by the BBQ though-I was expecting average, but my mouth still waters when I think about that sauce and the ribs falling of the bone! I don't like fish, but I love the fish here! We sat outside by the kettles for the fish boil and watched them cook. This is a Door County style fish boil. They offer three options: fish, fish and chicken or fish, chicken and ribs. The food is served buffet style. You walk up to the staff member and give them your ticket, they then load your plate with your choice of protein(s), cole slaw, potatoes and onions (and melted butter over the top, if desired). There is also some awesome bread and butter as a side. Each person gets one pre-sliced dessert. The apple slice is super yummy!! This is a cash only establishment, but they do have an ATM on sight should you lack the necessary paper funds. The meals are $14 and $15, the ribs will cost you a little more. What a great mom and pop business. Stop by and taste some awesome food in a lovely old house. read more

Thanks to yelp lo and behold up comes Fitzgeralds...Off we go , about 1 hour and 20 minutes, nice Sunday afternoon. So glad we went. 1st time there so we kind of followed others as far as how this restaraunt works. Pay a very fair price, get ticket with choices off of the simple item menu and get in line for some great fish and or chicken or ribs. Food was fantastic. I would call this a whole in the wall restaurant but everyone seems to know about it in the area. If they don't they need to go there pronto! This is an all you can eat fish boil for around $18. They boil the onions and potatoes in a cauldron then they boil the fish in the water they used to boil the potatoes. It tastes really good! In addition to the onions, potatoes, and fish they serve salted rye, coleslaw, and an apple dessert (its the same every night). This is what I usually order though you can get an addition to this meal by ordering "fish and chicken" or "fish, chicken and ribs". They have a fully stocked bar as well read more

We have heard about this place and after taking a drive through the over crowded Lake agenda during pandemic time, we thought we could give this place a try. We had a small wait as we wanted to dine inside but they delighted us with some delicious cocktails. I had my favorite Old Fashion and was pleasantly surprised! I ended drinking two more before the evening was over. We were seated within 10 minutes and of course it was very sparse seating due to keeping everyone safe. There was absolutely no wait to getting our food and the young girl serving was so polite. The food was AMAZING! The cod resembled lobster in texture and the flavor was very good especially loaded with melted butter. The barbecued ribs and chicken were cooked perfectly. The meat just fell off the bones. I was full after one serving but couldn't help but go back for another serving of each! Even for the homemade coleslaw! After dinner they serve you up a slice of homemade pie and it's the icing on the cake. I can't complain about one thing! Such nice people a d outstanding food. The owners son has taken over this place. He called the restaurant 'his problem now' to customers that were walking out. This is an all you can eat fish boil but if you go for more than 2 plates (portion sizes are tiny in the plate) the guy hassles you and tells you he is going to change the rules to a 3 plate maximum. Prices have changed twice now in the last few months. The old owners son tells you youre making him lose money if he perceives you eating too much. This is horrible as I heard him telling a few people all this. One guy told him that's what you have an all you can eat place, he should be used to this now. People wanna eat. We had a large party and we have baby twins. He hasseled us on giving the babies a apple slice. He hasseled my other son for going back for more chicken. I have been coming to this place since I was a toddler. Now we will not go back after being treated this way. This guy says stuff to customers he should never say. It's on average 17.00 a person. Family owned and the most delicious fish in Wisconsin! They serve Icelandic cod...sweet, no bones and served with boiled potatoes and onions...and rye bread and melted butter. Honestly, the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was pleasant. We had a pretty nice evening. My friend had not finished her meal (she had only taken one serving) so she asked for a to go box. The buss boy brought a box to the table. No big deal right? Well... on the way out we were stopped by a woman (I assume it was one of the owners) who VERY rudely informed us that they "don't normally do that". Ok, understood, I get that.
