I would have given 5 stars but I was astounded at being charged $4 to split a salad with my husband. I can certainly understand a charge to split a dinner but a salad...really??? Our party of 4 spent over $400 for an amazingly delicious dinner so no idea why it was necessary to charge this ridiculous fee. I could have easily done it myself. Wow what a great experience! From the beginning to end... right when we walked in, I felt like I was in a different country. My first time there and we will definitely be back! We checked in, every seat was full! Got a drink at the bar; very nice cocktail list. Obscure liquor and creative cocktails made it fun to order drinks, very nice wines by the glass. The whole month of December they have carolers that come around to the table, which added some festive ambiance. The food was really good and steaks cooked perfectly! Just left here. It took around 2 hours to get our food. Which included getting 2 children hamburgers. Expected a long meal but not that long to get our food. The manager said essentially our order got bumped because there was a large order that was placed. This was 1.25 hours after we ordered. Children fell asleep at the table. Totally unacceptable the slow service. Only plus side is they did comp meal which I will be eating at home. My husband and I went for a dinner tonight and I must say ALMOST everything was perfect! I ordered the. The steak lovers special they have which had a salad or lobster bisque, best lobster bisque ever with some buttery croutons. Next I picked the california prime rib, you can pick a bigger slice and pay the difference. It came with mash and another side which I picked creamed corn. Everything was excellent besides the mash potatoes, sadly I had a gulp of salt with every bite For the appetizer we ordered the crab cakes which didn't lack a bit of crab and the side salad on the dish is so refreshing and to die for! We were greeted at the table saying that we would get bread and water and were never asked about what kind of water we would like. We prefer sparkling but not picky. We just took what we were served. We were asked if we wanted the soufflé for dessert but we passed, however, it was my birthday and I used to be an employee and didn't think you had to ask for the birthday trifle for your birthday birthday. We had been in for the previous week with my brother and we didn't have to ask for the birthday trifle. If you are a member of Lawrys, which is a very great benefit, you are offered a Lawry season salt for your birthday. So not only did I not get a dessert, I was not offered the Lawry season salt when it was time to check out I said I wanted to use my birthday points and that might've been a queue to bring the birthday trifle but still no. We came for a wedding on a Saturday night. It started with a small ceremony on the back patio, they brought in wooden benches and with the lights and fire pits going it looked amazing at night. After the ceremony we started cocktail hour, I got my standard titos and soda. It came in a cool Waterford looking glass, but it was a bit small. They did a charcuterie board that was amazing, it had 3 cheeses, salami, prosciutto, mustard and honey. There was more than enough cheese and meat to feed the 24 of us. They had one big table set up closest to the back glass window, it fit 24 perfectly. It was a 3 course meal and we had 2 options per course aside from and entree which had 4. I got the wedge salad to start, it's your standard wedge hard to mess it up. I went with the prime rib, it was delicious there is a reason it has been a CDM staple for years. It also comes with Yorkshire pudding which is more like a pastry and cream of spinach. We got an order of cream of corn as well, I highly recommend it. I finished with the fudge sundae, the ice cream was perfect. This was one of the best weddings I have ever attended. The back patio is a hidden gem if you are having a small group. I love the side door restaurant I think the chef is one of the best in Orange County. The food is always good and the services suburb.

Service and portions are great, 5/5. However the food, was average and slightly underwhelming. The prime rib was tender, but bland. The potatoes and creamed corn were Luke warm and tasted decent. We ordered the apple tart for dessert and that was the most delish item we had. It could've been served warmer but overall was really tasty. For the price, I wish I could've enjoyed it more. read more

Fantastic restaurant great ambiance. They do want you to reserve but they are accommodating if you are okay with waiting. The food is legendary to say the least with sun extensive selection of accompaniments and drinks and please leave room for dessert they have a heavenly selection. Would I go again? Came here for restaurant week! It was a pretty good deal $50 for a three course meal. The prime rib and bread were both AMAZING. The sides (creamed corn/spinach) and desserts were just okay. We had picked this place due to the unique ambiance and we were definitely not disappointed. We had left a note that we were celebrating a birthday, and to my surprise they actually read it! I loved this place. It was such a charming restaurant. Our waitress Starla was really attentive and was so nice and accommodating as well as the other wait staff. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. The only critique I have is that my Yorkshire pudding wasn't warm, but I dipped it in gravy and auj juis and it was delicious. When the staff packed our food to go they added more gravy to the mashed potatoes which I thought was a really nice gesture. It's little details like that, that make such a difference. Pickup is easy with free parking in the valet parking in numbered stalls, so that the food can be delivered. The prime rib was rare as ordered and the sides were separately packed and all delicious. The first time I went to this restaurant was over 10 years ago, and I still continue to come back over the years. I've always enjoyed dining here because I just love the classy, quaint and dim-lit English cottage ambience. This place has gone through a lot of changes before it finally settled as part of Lawry's chain of restaurants, and just dining here, you can feel its colonial background and haunted history. It's known for its aged prime rib. The beef is tender and melts in your mouth. I suggest ordering the bigger cut because there's a lot of fats to cut out, and you'll be left with a smaller portion of beef. I love eating this with bread pudding and creamed spinach. Dip your classic prime rib and bread pudding into the au jus sauce and you'll understand why I keep coming back. There's something about soaking that bread pudding with the sauce that gives so much flavor- it's just tasty and savory. As for service, the servers are usually cordial and friendly with some servers being more attentive and chatty than others. This establishment is $$$ steakhouse so make sure to get your credit card ready. I suggest coming during Christmastime if you can. The Christmas decor with the intimate setting set the tone for a warm, cozy yet classy dinner. read more

Five Crowns doesn't disappoint & absolutely satisfies all my prime rib cravings without having to drive to LA. Everything was cooked to perfection & the King Henry VIII cut is huge! A generous portion even enough for two to share that includes two sides of your choosing. I've only ordered takeout from this restaurant so I don't know about their dining service, however, their online ordering & pickup instructions are extremely easy to navigate. Have always enjoyed our visits prior to now. Very disappointed in this holiday meal. Although the wait staff was quite friendly, The service was extremely slow. Over 15 minutes to receive water once seated. The food was just ok and not much flavor. My husband's New York steak was overcooked and had to be replaced. He never received the wine he ordered. The Caesar salad was delicious when I ordered my steak, medium rare. The waiter said that was kind of different which I thought was weird and when I got my steak, it was way overcooked. The ladies room was there i don't know if that made a difference. I will not be coming here in the future. This was a one time only kind of thing.i don't feel like making the trip back here. My Fiance and I had our Valentine's dinner here for the first time. We had: the prime rib ( Henry viii cut and she had the crown cut) with cream of spinach and cream of corn, I had it with cream of spinach and mash potatoes. Only my 2nd, one star review ever. The ambiance and food were great but the unbelievably poor service overshadowed the whole experience. We had a reservation for 745pm and we're promptly seated as soon as we came in at 745. Unfortunately, our first clue that dinner might not go well came within a few minutes when we overheard the table next to us talking about how they never received their beet salad. Soon enough, we realized that our waitress hadn't even come to take drink orders in over 20 minutes. When we finally flagged the waitress down, my wife ordered a red wine and I ordered a red ale...and since we had had so long to pour over the menu, we placed our food order. After another 20 minutes our drinks still hadn't arrived...and when they came a few minutes later my wife was confused because they delivered champagne. We asked if she had ordered a red wine and the waitress confirmed that she had brought us the wrong drinks. She confirmed our original order and stormed away. About 10 minutes later, a different waitress came by and asked what drinks we ordered then walked to the back. At this point it had been almost an hour and none of our drinks (besides water) or food dishes had arrived. At about 1hr, our correct drinks came out. We sat around awkwardly as each table around us pulled the waitress aside to mention stuff she forgot or food they had not received. That would also be us at about 1.5 hours when we asked another waitress if our food was coming. She acted flabbergasted and within about 10 minutes our prime ribs were brought in. The food itself tasted great. The meat was tender and flavorful. But we couldn't believe how long everything was taking. It got to the point that we decided to not order any dessert to avoid prolonging the torture. When we asked for our bill, the waitress came back and apologized saying they had a big wedding in the back that was taking up staff resources and that's why she was spread thin. Her manager took a significant chunk off our bill but I still feel a bit frustrated that I left any tip given how bad the service was for a $60+ per dish meal. In 2.5 hours, our waitress only proactively did anything twice. This place could be great if the service wasn't so ridiculously slow. Not sure if it was a bad waitress or a manager who understaffed but this place needs to get its act together if they want repeat clients. read more

Great experience as always! Last night, my husband & I picked up our friend & headed over to The Five Crowns to celebrate my birthday with their Surf & Turf special. Not only were our food & drinks outstanding as always, but our server Kasey was truly amazing! Sides, cream corn tasty, mashed potatoes pedestrian not much flavor, creamed spinach good not great and English popover very good if you've never had one traditional with this meal. Other meal prime rib dip very good, with potato chips and Lawry's season salt good but be careful it comes out quick. Mac n cheese nice if you like blue cheese which I'd prefer not. Dessert 1/2 hour prep standard for chocolate lava cake not seeet enough. Overall 4 stars, maybe change the name to four crowns. Very delicious. Ordered strawberry martini with olives....yum! Had to drive so I only had one :-(. The chocolate soufflé it's delicious but tell waitress not to pour cream on it because it takes the fun away...I was sad I didn't get to pour it on but it's ok. The prime rib omg omg I got the crown highly recommended it's like eating cotton steak. I cant even explain it. Definitely will change your life. The steak hot temperature sauce should be brought with steak for each steak I don't know why our waitress thought we should share one. Didn't even bring it with steak. But next time I'll need to teach them. The bread that comes with prime rib is soooo good it's unlike any bread you have ever had. Portos has competition on this bread. Don't get spinach cream it's not that good...it's just meh. And mushroom soup is meh. read more

Perfection may sound like hyperbole, but no other word correctly explains my experience last night. From my husband's call to the manager Eliza to make the reservation to the hostess who showed us the special items in the bar on our way out, we felt like we were cherished guests in their home. Eliza made sure that we had a romantic table by the fireplace, and the hostess greeted us with a smile and "Happy Anniversary" when we walked in. Our waitress Braydee was the perfect server (yes-perfect). She made us feel like we were the most important people in the room, and even took the time during her busy evening to give us the history of the property when we asked. At the end of our meal Braydee brought us champagne for a toast and a dessert with a candle, even though we had already ordered 2 desserts. She then gave us an anniversary Lawrys pepper jar. As someone who managed restaurants and nightclubs for 10 years I know what I am saying when I tell you that Five Crowns has an incredible staff that does everything right. read more

And don't expect them to cook in front of you! We both got the prime rib of course, and I got the sides of spinach and corn. Everything was decent food, but nothing worthwhile. The food came out cold even though the plate was supposed to be hot (was it even!?!? I didn't touch it so I don't know). Because I eat the meat pretty rare, it was even more cold. A cold steak. The spinach and corn sides were good and hearty, but not good enough to make anything memorable. Even the complimentary bread was wack. Service was great though but seriously, step it up, Five Crowns. Tradition or not, you're losing business so you gotta change it up. read more

4 stars for our anniversary dinner. In terms of the star breakdown, most of the stars are for non-food items: we loved the service and the ambiance, as well as the variety on the menu (even though we were there solely for prime rib, especially knowing that it's a Lawry's restaurant). When they brought out the bread and butter, they took away our butter knives (??) and so we kind of swiped our bread across the top of the butter. This was a bit odd, but oh well. Crown cut prime rib had zero flavor, even with the au jus. I love that you can sub out the creamed veggies for something slightly healthier, so I opted for the sauteed spinach and fingerling potatoes. Spinach was delicious, potatoes had zero flavor. Our anniversary berry trifle was too sweet, and we didn't end up finishing it. I've been to Lawry's BH multiple times, but somehow this one just didn't compare? Perhaps we went on an off-night. We much preferred the prime rib from Summit House over in Fullerton, which is my family's go-to restaurant for a nice meal. read more

I took my daughter as a special treat to this restaurant that I remembered from years ago as being fantastic! However, our experience was horrid! By far some of the worst food & service we've experienced in many years! We will never return for another nightmare! We wets shocked @ the prices for what we ordered too an evening of disappointment & frankly, someone needs to tell their employees to dress like professionals as well as put a dress code in place for clients!
