Never, have I ever, witnessed such professionalism at a burger establishment. While my tastebuds are much more appropriated towards in n out, the employee quality at five guys is far superior. I was a former employee at a burger king and I know what it feels like to be a robot working for the man, it essentially ruined my work ethic. I became lifeless and uninterested in my job. However, at five guys you can just sense the enjoyment with these men and women. This review almost a lost a star when I opened my bag and saw my fry order was cajun instead of regular. Therefore I promptly stood up and went to the front counter to complain. Yet to my surprise the man was very apologetic and let me know I could keep the cajun and a fresh batch of regular fries would be out soon for free. I agree with others that the menu should state "double patty" under regular burger. I did not want a double patty, but that is what I got. It took 25 minutes to get our order on a Sat afternoon at 2:00. They looked disorganized and needed more people assembling the orders. I am glad it is close to home, but probably will go elsewhere for a burger. The fries are not worth the calories, too soggy. read more

The interior was really smoky and the music too loud, so we decided to just get the food to go. The hot food came before the shakes so we had to stand around for awhile, our hot food getting cold.... Four small burgers, four shakes and three small fries was PLENTY of food for five people, (two of us even split a little burger and shake) but still $50 seems steep. So I went into this place tonight and it was packed! Something was wrong with their system because they were taking tickets from the register and putting it back into the kitchen. From my experience in the industry most teams would've fell apart. They did a great job and the food was just as good as it always is! Yes it took a little while to get my food but the staff was great and the place was very clean! I will go back when I'm back in the area again! Awesome job! Wish I had read the reviews first. Really slow service. Only one person in line and one waiting on an order. Took forever to ring up myself and the other customer and then another 20 minutes for a single burger...they forgot my shake which took a few more minutes. Was my first time there so I asked my teenager who has been there a few times about his experience - he said this is typical. I'm not going back. Disappointing because I was excited when I saw they were opening. I know people who are big fans of this chain. Suggestion: hire some of the In-N-Out or Habit people to whip this place into shape. read more

This will be a mixed review. I think the people who work here are very nice. They do make mistakes. Well, practically every other time. They try to correct them. As best they can. I think this chain adapting to Alamo or what they believe Alamo is has problems. First off, yes, their burgers are kind of overpriced. I could get a better price at Nations or Habit. I actually don't like their burgers at this location. They taste strange to me. I can't ever finish one either the small or regular size. They simply taste funny. One time I was sitting at the store for thirty minutes waiting for my order to be called and it never was. Turns out they gave me an order number that didn't match for my actual order that was made. I would have no idea about this. If someone tells me my number is '62'. I will wait until '62' is called. So, if they call number '45', I'm not going to know by psychic intuition that is my order and I was issued the wrong order number by mistake. But mistakes happen and a business needs to get on their feet and so on. I will say the staff in there for the most part are very kind. I had an incident where I misplaced my iPad and they went the extra mile to help me find it so they do think and consider customer service in a good manner. I just think that between the food and the service, something is not lining up and from other reviews I read if Pleasant Hill and Dublin have a good model, why not look at theirs and try to see the flaws. Look at the market. And maybe back off on the peanuts. There's quite a few of us with a sensitivity. Perhaps come up with an alternative to peanuts that has the same cost factor. With what you're facing, you don't need people to be afraid to enter the store without an eppy pen in hand. When in doubt, don't. I'm sorry I can't give you an all five review but in the future, make changes, prove us wrong and I'll change it very happily. I would rather write good reviews than bad or average. Very pleased with this new location. Have never been dissapointed. Today I tried to call an order in and the phone was off the line. I let staff know and an employee named Cameron apologized and made the situation right immediately. Keep emloyees like Cameron around and this place will keep doing great ! Excellent burgers and fries for a fast food place. Customer service was also very good.

The fries and shakes were good but the burgers were very ho hum as well as soggy. The grilled cheese was disgusting, and I ended up throwing it away. $41 for lunch to feed two kids and one adult is definitely on the very high end for a burger joint. Quality was lacking and should not be at that price. The tables were not clean. What also took me by surprise is when I was called to pick up my order, the guy dropped the bag in front of me on the counter, demonstrating a lack of respect or care for our food. Went to this location about 45 minutes before closing and staff was very helpful and friendly. They took my order accurately and quickly. I always enjoy the grilled cheese sandwich and regular burger made to my specifications. Today I decided to try an item from the secret menu the double grilled cheese cheeseburger. The staff made The bes sandwich that I've ever had at five guys. They were very friendly made me laugh I will definitely come back to the store over and over again. Why is this place in Alamo? It's mediocre at best,with soggy buns, greasy fries, and a terrible smell. A place like this needs volume, which will never happen in this location. After the new owners of the center took over, there has been a flight of small local businesses and an invasion of medium to large chains, If this is the typical tenant going forward, things will go downhill even faster. read more

This is an okay burger joint overall. Burgers are really good, fries are decent, and vast drink selection (because of the coke cola machine that has hundreds of fountain options). They also serve complimentary peanuts as well! The only thing that this place needs to work on is: Cooking their fries more; they tasted like strips of a half-baked potato. Next, their price. Now, This is the major thing. I went down there to get your average combo meal: Burger, Fries, and a Fountain Drink. I was at a loss for words to see how much I was charged. 1 Double Bacon Cheeseburger (Plain), with 1 Regular Size Fries, and 1 Regular Size Fountain Drink came out to about $16.50 after tax. Woah. I could get the same exact thing at In-N-Out (without the bacon of course) for less than half the price. Don't get me wrong, the food is really good at Five Guys (although the fries didn't impress me that much), but I'm never coming back if it remains that price. It's simply a waste of money. Extremely disappointed. Was excited for a good burger, however the three times visiting I have had the worst experiences ever. Absolutely filthy restaurant on all 3 visits. Last visit I waited 20 minutes for my order, not a problem, the problem was the cleanliness of the dining areas. Not a busy time, plenty of staff. Stared at the same filth the entire time I was there. Could not gamble with the kitchen cleanliness matching the front, threw food in garbage on way out. Sent a "heads up" note to corporate, want them to be successful. Two weeks later I have not even heard a response. The only reason for the one star is the young man working the cash register, solid. Expensive very expensive for what you get. Hamburgers, are wrapped in foil and when I got home 5 minutes away, the bun was a soggy sponge. French fries are basically just dumped into a paper bag, and they were soft and greasy, It took liters 15 minutes to complete my small burger and greasy fry order, I did stuff myself on free peanuts while I waited.. I ended up feeding my hamburger to my dog and threw away the fries. Almost 10.00 wasted . I won't be going back ever, and I will continue to going to the habit in walnut creek. So, this place is "busy", I get it. There are like 5 whole people in line. In an attempt to be a smart person (ignore the fact that I am ordering from 5 guys) I order online. I place my order and I get confirmation that I can pick my order up in 15 minutes. Awesome! I show up in 15 minutes and I am greeted with "Our printer is down." Good for you, fix it... 10 minutes pass... 20 minutes pass... 30 minutes pass.. 40 MINUTES PASS!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! It is a friggin burger!!! It takes you over an hour to make a burger. AND THEN YOU GET THE ORDER WRONG!!! No "sorry", NOTHING!!! As a life long Alamo resident I think it is ridiculous we allowed you in the Plaza in the first place, but now that you are here, you SUCK!!!! For serious??? No no... for SERIOUS!?!?!?! Waiting 30 mins for a burger and shake when there is only 2 other people there is beyond ridiculous. And then to finally receive my burger- and still no shake! I had my two small children with me and their patience is slim to none. Finally I said forget the shake and got a refund. Bottom line. I was excited when this moved to Alamo, but I am now thoroughly disappointed. It took over 25 min to receive my one cheeseburger and fries even though there was barely anyone in there. The food was below average, the burger was soggy and kinda gross and although the cajun style fries had a decent seasoning on them they were undercooked and mushy. All in all I wish I had spent my time driving to In-n-Out to get a better cheaper meal or just done a take out burger from a restaurant which would have been more expensive but would have taken just as long and tasted much better. I've eaten at this Five Guys a few times. Never been great, but good service and worth the money. Today I called to make an order. I was put on "hold" right away, but instead of hold the phone was placed on the counter. For 10 minutes I head all the other orders being made. I yelled "hello" so maybe someone would remember that I was sitting on "hold". Then I hung up and tried back. The business only has one line, so for 4 minutes each time I phoned the line was busy. Getting very hungry, my father drove down to make an order. When he arrived 5 minutes later the phone was still sitting on the counter. They apologized and offered free fries, but then promptly messed up our order. I can't have gluten, they gave me a bun. They also added a fourth hamburger we didn't order and charged us. So, in the end delayed order, messed up the order, and we paid for the free fries when they added a fourth burger and charged us. Will I return, not for a long time.
