I've always enjoyed the burgers here. You decide the kind of meat you want plus all the toppings. This is a "have it your way" kind of place and they ensure their food is top-notch. On the plane from Los Angeles to Houston, I met this guy and got into talking about places to eat at Houston. I've heard of Five Guys' reputation from a lot of people now and this guy in the plane said that I absolutely had to try it. I was only in Houston for 3 days and decided to save going to Five Guys before my 2pm flight back to Los Angeles. After much Hype, I visited Five Guys and was actually one of the first patrons at 11am. I can't say that their burgers are great because really nothing still beats In-N-Out but, oh boy, were the Cajun Fries just to die for. I ordered a small and the lady behind the counter told me that it was good for two people. Yeah, I finished 1/2 of my burger and devoured all that Cajun Fries! Yes, I consider it a feat! read more

I like to stop here when I'm downtown and it's past the lunch rush (1-2 p.m.) The first time I was here, I ordered the regular burger, not realizing it comes with two patties. It was quite a monstrosity. I now order the "Little" burger, which is just one patty. The extra toppings, such as grilled onions and mushrooms, are free. Yay! Love the cajun-seasoned fries. Chains are great for their convenience; but to obtain that convenience one must resort to mass production. An unfortunate byproduct of mass production is the absence of innovation and the necessity to rely on huge supplier resulting in boredom in a bun. Which describes what you get at Five Guys, a tasty convenient, boring burger . The veggies are fresh, sometimes a little too fresh. A burger I had recently had a tomato that wasn't quite ripe. The lettuce is rarely browed or wilted. The beef is fresh, juicy and it has flavor! However, not as much as it would have if you could order it medium rare. The condiments are the same old condiments you've got in your refrigerator right now, nothing special. The bun is a cheap piece of bread designed to do it's job and add nothing to the burger. This is a serious disappointment as even McDonald's has better burger buns on their premium burgers. Overall, Five Guys is pretty good if your intention is to go from hungry to full, but if you want to try something innovative or if you want a truly great burger this isn't your place. read more

I stopped by the store around noon for lunch. The sign says it's open, but the front doors were locked. The doors on the side of the store were locked as well. I saw 4 staff inside, and I saw they see me try to open the door, but they simply didn't care. They were enjoying their free time chatting and laughing inside. My visit to this place wasn't a good one. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and a shake and I ended up spending around $12 bucks and some change only for them to give me a chocolate milkshake with bacon and bananas in it which was gross. I told the guy that was taking my order that I wanted a Oreo milkshake but he gave me the wrong milkshake on purpose because he didn't like the way my cousin was talking to him. Burgers are fried side by side on the same grill with the bacon, so tough luck to those who don't eat pork (observant Jews and Muslims beware, your beef is swimming in pork lard). When you walk in you can just feel the positive vibes. I love coming here and so does my coworker because they always remember us. I would probably give them 3 and 1/2 stars, if that were a rating option. The burgers are good (albeit quite greasy), and they are made to order, with quite a nice array of toppings to choose from. Plus, they have a veggie sandwich option, though this is basically just a collection of all the veggie toppings. The free shelled peanuts at the door is a nice touch too. I really only go here because they offer lettuce-wrapped burgers. The taste of the meat is only mediocre when compared to Stanton's and Fuddruckers. I like that they give you a lot of fries (regular will fill up half the paper bag and that's enough for 2 to share) and they have unlimited toppings (minus cheese and bacon). Stopped by Five guys because it was conveniently on my way to school and I figured it would be fast and taste better than fast food. I ordered the bacon and cheese hotdog with regular fries because I didn't want something as heavy as a burger. My order did come out quickly but the taste of the food was unimpressive. The bun, which to me is just as important as the meat, was flavorless bread and fell right apart! The dog was grilled and cut down the middle with the cheese on the outside of meat on one side and the over cooked bacon on the other. The small order of fries is enough for three people to share, however there was nothing special about them either. I eat about 3 fries before deciding that they just were not tasty enough to be worth the extra calories and threw them out. I wish I would have made that same decision on the hotdog but I was really hungry! One would think if you added bacon and cheese to anything that it would be a for sure home run, but not in this case!
