The burgers are flavorful and great. The burger was crispy from being well-cooked and the bacon. It also wasn't dry, so ketchup wasn't a must however did make it better. The fries were hot and tasteful because of all the seasoning. The burger was stacked sloppy, and the fries were barely in the container mainly thrown in bag. The food is great for what you should expect from a burger and fries joint. My only complaint is that TWICE over the last few months, I've come in and ordered a burger. I usually get off school around 9:00 P.M., so I come in close to closing and just bring my food home to eat. These two times when I've come home with my food, there was cheese on my burgers. I have an allergy to dairy that causes me to go into anaphylactic shock. This normally wouldn't be a big deal... except that, I would have to drive back to have them fix my order. By the time I could get back, it would already be closing time. Why should I have to take the burger out of the bag covered with fries and cajun seasoning to check my order each time? Is it really that hard to emphasize and differentiate "hamburger" and "cheeseburger" to the person taking my order when that distinction is sufficiently clear on the menu? read more

To be frank and honest: Smash Burger has a gigantuous lead on Five Guys when it comes to taste, presentation, value, and ambience. The free peanuts is a nice concept but it wont bring me back. 1. Presentation: my burger looked like a McDonald's bun with a TON of sesame seeds on the top. The bun looked mushed and mangled like it was wrapped in foil, which it was. 2. Flavor: honestly, the flavor was lacking. The flavor reminded me of a really cheap food truck that pulled a patty out from under the grill from the lunch rush. The meat was fresh just bland and greasy. The cheese was not tasting well at all. The cheese reminded me of the cheapest yellow single slices like .79 for 20 at the super market. 3. Value - $9 for the double bacon - i could get Becks Prime for this price and walk away not feeling like I was ripped off. The burger maker forgot the bacon so I had to go up to the counter and get it. The employee was SUPER nice but I was already disappointed even before taking a bite. 4. The music was BLARING 60s hard rock. I could hardly hear myself think much less enjoy the meal. The music was a terrible choice and the volume (not to be too harsh) was unacceptable. Smashburger is about the same value but their bun, flavor, presentation, are far above Five Guys for the price. Smashburger is just down the road and around the corner. Drive a few minutes more to get a higher quality purchase than Five Guys. In all frankness and honesty I wont ever go back. In my humble, with no exaggeration, opinion McDonald's serves better quality hamburgers than Five Guys. read more

I was hoping I would see another review similar to what I have to say, but there is nothing. This was my first time experiencing the Five Guys cheeseburger and have been anticipating the their burger for some time. Well...I did not order two patties but that's what I got. But, my biggest peeve was the bun. When I bit into the burger the first thing that I taste is "sweet". I just figured it was a fluke. It wasn't. The bun was like eating a doughy sweet bread. YUK! I really like these burgers, fries, and hot dogs. Service is to be expected, simple and professional, cheery, just fine. Here is where I am having a hard time ever eating here again. Plastic Gloves! I hate them. They become an unsanitary crutch that lazy restaurants lean on to placate the masses who see them and assume they are an adequate barrier to keep germs away. Well the way this place uses them, they contribute to cross contamination and spreading germs. Follow me. Guy takes my order at the register, takes my $20. No one else in line so he heads back to help prep the food. On his way back he grabs a few gloves, puts them on and starts to prep the burgers. What is wrong with this? How did he grab the gloves? With those hands that just touched my $20 and my change. I've never seen them go to the sink and wash their hands for the mandatory 20 seconds with water as hot as they can stand and anti microbial soap, dry them, and then grab the gloves, and this is a huge problem! The jobs must be totally separated and if someone is going to move from cash to prep, they have to follow the complete steps. Switching from prep to cash, no issues, obviously. Next time you cook your food at home, grab your spare change and wipe it all over your hands and then start cooking, gross right? These folks run the risk of doing exactly this each time they grab gloves with dirty hands. I will take a restaurant where no one wears gloves and they practice washing their hands and sanitizing between jobs over this any day. read more

This has become my new favorite joint to grab a fast food-type burger, i.e. non-gourmet, nothing fancy, something quick. Being a 5'3", 110 lbs. female, the "little cheeseburger" fills me up plenty. I like to get sauteed onions and mushrooms, mayo, and either a slice of Swiss or cheddar on my little sucker. The bun is toasted with just the right amount of butter, the meat juicy. I like the fries although they're not my favorite--I'm a fan of crispier fries. Split the fries with either your dining companion or, if you're alone, the good-looking dude/dudette at the next table--they're huge. Last time I went, I got a grilled cheese which came on incredibly buttery bread (yum!). For $3, it ain't a cheap grilled cheese, but it's an alternative when you're not in the mood for something "heavy." Could be a little pricey--especially when compared to the 99-cent menus of other fast food chains--but the quality is worth the premium. I think, like In-N-Out, nothing is ever frozen. read more

Nothing impresses here except the fries. A regular order of french fries fills a whole cup and the bottom portion of the paper bag they are served in. Nothing special about the burger. They appeared to be hand-formed and tasted home-cooked. That should appeal to many. I wanted a burger I couldn't cook at home. Previous reviews are right: If they encourage customers to order the regular (double) burger they should place it on a larger bun. The hot dogs are just meh and not worth the price. There are options for good fries at many Houston locations. I have no plans to return to Five Guys anytime soon, but it is a decent burger joint. read more

Horrible customer service! I ordered a shake on July 4th online and when my friends went to pickup the order were never told that they don't make shakes after 8 pm. When I got my order, I immediately called the restaurant and was told I would have to come back in for my refund. Are you kidding me? Not only did I not get what I ordered and paid for but you want me to come back in. After speaking with a manager, she stated it would be 7 days for a refund. 7 days!@!!!!!. That is way too long and you shouldn't accept orders you can't make. Sorry Five Guys but there are other choices in Houston for burgers and you just lost me as a customer. read more
