I live in the area and have seen this place and have heard a lot of good things. So I just stopped in because I was starving. Staff here seemed very energetic and friendly when I walked in. I ordered the cheeseburger with all the toppings. As I sat and waited for for the burger, I realized how freezing it was in there! I look around and even heard little kids complaining to their kids how cold it was. I hear my number and picked up my burger. It took less then 5 minutes. I open up the foiled wrapped burger and it was a total mess! I did like the burger but after a couple of bites I had to grab a fork because my burger just fell apart. This is the main reason I give the 2 stars. I like to have a burger or something that's not messy when I'm starving and on the go. These burgers are just so delicious. I always get the Little Bacon Cheeseburger, All the Way. I love this place. It definitely has it's pros and cons, but the atmosphere is what draws me the most. The tables are way too close to each other, but being there a couple times on some really busy nights, I can see why they need so many tables and that it is somewhat necessary to have them so close together. It gets packed very fast! I was originally put off by the fact that a good burger alone costs the same as a meal at a fast food joint, but I believe they're worth it. Any or all toppings I want piled right up on there, held together by the foil. It's exactly how I've expected little roadside burger joints to be, but have never gotten until Five Guys. The amount of fries is actually kind of obscene. I was not aware of the amount of fries they serve the first time I went and ordered two large fries. I have learned that you can pretty much order a side of regular fries and have enough to feed three people. The Cajun fries are a little over seasoned sometimes, but they're so fresh and piping hot, I hardly have time to care at all, what with all the face stuffing I'm doing. My daughter loves to fill the drinks, and I'm sure people waiting behind her get really impatient with her, but you can't put that many buttons on a big lit up box and expect a child to not exercise her every option. (Like a grape-orange-sprite-root beer) The peanuts are a funny distraction while waiting for your food, and I personally love all the shouting and singing that goes on behind the counter. The employees seem to really love being there and treat you like one of the family. Don't eat there if you expect the employees to be tame, gentle, hand-holding, delicate flowers. They're doing their jobs at a fast pace and need you to do your job of grabbing your food so the next person in line can get theirs. it's a very nice, wide open store that is well lit in the middle of the day. i got there around 12:45pm and you would expect that the place would be packed with lunchers, but it wasn't. and the parking lot was really easy to park in. if you park directly across the street from the restaurant, and you don't want to walk to one far intersection or another, then you will choose to jay walk to go straight in. when i was sitting eating my LCB (little cheese burger), i saw a few people do the same as i did: jay walk. after you chicken run across the street, then you walk up across a grassy incline to the front door. if there was more foot traffic from the parking lot jay walking, then there would probably be a dead path of grass that they would have to stone over to keep it looking pretty. I think the shopping center needs to do some extra marketing or something special to get more people in through here. Maybe the 'hood had a bad reputation or something. I don't know. Maybe it's because it was a Monday. I don't know, but it seemed like it should be more busy. for me, the LCB, as they call it, is the perfect amount of beef. i don't need too much because ground beef is so rich and fatty. you think having more beef is good, but it will probably just kill you faster. anyways, i finally noticed today that they toast the buns. and that reminded me of In-n-Out. For me, In-n-Out is the gold standard for really good fast food burgers. It seems like these guys basically did their non-Christian version of In-n-Out and have done a great job. lightly toasted burger buns are so damn good! the peanut deal is unique. but i'm not so into that. it's $6.45 for an LCB. whether you get it all the way, or plain, it's $6.45. to me, for a fast food place, it's a bit expensive. but i get it. they have a unique brand, they have very, very specific decor, the vibe is good - they were playing Beck's 'Devil's Haircut' while i was munching on my burger. but i am pretty sure that according to fast food standards, $6.45 for just the burger is a bit high. it's okay though, i like it. I just need to remember to not get the pickles on the 'all they way LCB'. here's the last observation. the little light wood colored chairs sit really low to the tables. i have no idea why it's like that. the tables look like they are the normal height. all i know is, i usually sit pretty high (if i sit up straight) to the table. but in this case, even if I sat up straight as a stick, i still felt like i had to struggle to get my elbows on the table. maybe they want your face to be as close to the table as possible so that when your pigging out on your burger there will be less chance that the burger bits will fly onto the floor. of course it could be just dumb luck that the tables and chairs are like that. the burger is good though. i really like the cajun seasoning you can get on the fries, but the last time i tried them, they were a bit too soggy. it might be a product of the fact that the potatoes are fresh. like In-n-Out. i find that In-n-Out fries tend to be a little too soggy for me too. but that doesn't stop me from eating a lot of them. read more

This place really impressed me the first time we went. We ordered 2 burgers and 1 medium fry. There where so many frys we had to take them home. The next time we just went for the frys. I've been to this franchise in D.C. years ago. Last week we had drove down from Kitsap county and needed a bite to eat at 2pm. Stopping at the Lakewood Center's first eatery. It's mid July and raining PNW style. Loud head banging music blaring inside. Overheard air units blowing at a good clip. Mother and young child only other customers. I'm using the bathroom and someone is pounding on the door. It's loud. Workers need to be loud to communicate. Burger, fries and soda. No supersizing. $35 for two people. I'm stunned. Mouth hanging open. We are charged for medium fries. I peek into the brown bag, two cups of fries are overflowing and bury the wrapped burgers. These are twice deep fried fries. They are previously deep fried to a golden brown and kept in the fryer baskets above the deep fryer. Once an order for fries is made, the fries are dropped backed into the fryer to be reheated. Obviously we did not need so much fries but we did not indicate small, medium, large, and were sold medium which are too big an order for an elderly couple. Loud music blares around us and the breeze of the AC continuously blows from overhead. I look for a spot to avoid the wind and music. Cannot hide. As I'm eating and realizing it would have been better to have brought a banana, cherries or fresh peaches on this trip and kick myself for not having done so. Don't know why I'm thinking that $35 could buy me 7 pounds of lean ground at Fred Meyer and grandma here makes a great home style burger herself. The food was good but I thought it was overpriced at $10 for a bacon cheeseburger and small fry. It would have been a little better if they weren't so stingy with the toppings and didn't completely forget the bacon. I told them afterwards (I had pretty much finished the burger when I remembered it was supposed to have bacon) and they offered to give me a side of bacon or credit it for my next visit but I told them not to worry about it. The fries were good but nothing special, definitely not worth the price. As for the atmosphere, the music was way too loud. I tried the milkshakes one other time before and I loved it. Much friendlier staff that time then this most recent time. I went in on January 3rd at 8:25 pm and didn't get my milkshake until 8:53, but that's because I had to tell them that I was missing it. I didn't get anything else just that one item. It's not about the milkshake but more about customer service. When I was the only person in there they all looked at me and not one of them asked if I was waiting for something. Just really bad customer service. People need to be aware of their surroundings and realize who's still in the place and who's not. read more

Fast food you can eat and look at yourself in the morning. Kitchen is wide open, you can see patties go on the grill. You can munch on peanuts while waiting for your order: the best and freshest burgers for the money in a wide radius. You can pick your own (fresh) toppings, order them online for convenience. Hot dogs cut it there, too. Green peppers, grilled onions, sliced tomatoes, mustard, and BBQ sauce go on mine. Oh, and jalapeños. A quick snack for four bucks. The greasy fries can fill you up by themselves, thick potato ropes swimming in seasoning. Small is plenty. Thick patties, real meat, Five Guys took a formula and pretty much perfected it. Spend the extra money to go here rather than settling for the Golden Arches or its ilk. They also have one of those HAL-9000 soda machines. What can you say about Five Guys, it's where you go to get great burgers, and my favorite fries of all time. I was a regular at Five Guys when I lived in Virginia, and was so happy when they branched out to Lakehood and Puyallup. I usually get the little burger (single) with fried onions and mushrooms plus BBQ sauce or A-1. Then gorge myself on the greasy-bag-o-fries. The soda machines here tend to confuse some of the non-rocket scientists, but I love the dozens of choices you have. I will be a regular here until my arteries clog up and I keel over, the food is that good. read more

Soo... My review of 5 guys, I went to the lakewood town center store upon entering the establishment I was welcomed and ordered my food upon ordering I waited 15 min not too bad... But the grease was well a sight the bag was coated.. The burger was decent but the ungodly amount of fries set me off to throw half the food away. I swear there there could have been 2 bloody pounds of fries!. Last bit being our check me and a lovely date at the time just two people 2 burgers 2 medium soft drinks and two fries 63.69!! Good Lord talk about goudge. I'm not a big fan of McDonald's but in all truth I could have bout 6 meals for the price of this check. So overall 3 star for the burger alone, service, the grease, and the fries in a cup or a bag f*** me can take a hike. Good luck five guys will not be returning ever again... read more

I should have listened to the reviews though... I think the regular (with two patties) is just too big to handle effectively and I should have split a regular fry instead of the large. It's not all that is cracked up to be. My fries were soggy because they pull them out of the fryer then toss them in a paper bag. I would have been OK with that if they had ranch. How can you not have ranch!? I was so disappointed that I left a review on their website. A manager called to apologize about my experience and offered me a free meal. When I asked why they didn't have ranch she told me that their owners say "why would we have ranch when we don't offer salads." she was very nice about it though. read more
