First time trying Five Guys. I ordered 2 double meat cheeseburgers with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions and mushrooms. I don't understand the hype about unlimited toppings. The choices for toppings are standard at any burger place. Only the mushrooms would count as an up charge. I ordered online so there's no way to indicate if you want extra lettuce or tomatoes. Thanks to construction there isn't food option road signs or is that just on interstates? I took the exit before the mile high flyover and started scanning. No luck on the south side and about a quarter mile on the north side. No KFC and Whataburger. Passed an old GF's fave Brick House Tavern. Strip mall find Five Guys. In retrospect I wish I would have seen the Tarka sign ahead! Greeted immediately upon entry, I surveyed the choices and made my order. Regular cheeseburger with tomato, onion, pickle, and light mayo. Fries too, but what the heck? Almost $5 for fries? We're they blessed by The Pope? That's $10 for the cheeseburger too with unlimited toppings. It's like they have the notion to go ahead and charge you for ALL the condiments just in case. Grabbed my drink and surveyed the damage at basically $20 with tip. The verdict was good burger and fries. Yet, too costly. Just did a mock Whataburger order for the same meal...$9.24. As of May 2023 the bacon cheeseburger costs just over $12. The smallest fry costs over $5. Yes, over $5 for a "Tiny Fry". That means you should expect almost $20 for a burger and fry. The taste and size of the burgers here are worth half that. Maybe. I'd comment further on the taste if it was memorable. Five Guys has quotes and awards from all across the country hung up on the walls. These are great to help you remember where not to trust the burger recommendations. Thankfully the service is great, the parking is easy, and everything inside is super clean. It's a fine eating experience all around, but for $20 you could do so much better and get so much more at other burger chains or local joints. We placed our order 32 minutes ago. It's now 8:03. They made everyone's order that came after us, first. And made all of their DoorDash orders first. When we asked politely about how much longer we received major attitude from one guy. We didn't catch his name, but Christian took our order and did nothing to help the situation. Me and my husband have both been in service industry and I could never imagine speaking to a customer like that. We are moving today. We have a rental truck that has to be back by 10pm and we still have to make a run. Today is stressful enough, We didn't have time for an over 30 minute detour bc the workers decided that we were the ones they wanted to pick on. A lady who got there after us went to grab her order and we asked what time she put her order in. She said she put it in online at 7:35, meaning she put it in after us. When my husband spoke up about it, the guy basically yelled at us that it was an online order so it had priority. After this, we left. I was afraid they would spit in the food. I even apologized because I totally understand, but for the duration of them cooking my meal christian (apparently a manager) and some keebler elf were going back and forth talking about how they should've locked the door and how they wanted to but didn't want a repeat of last time when someone got mad at them. I would've literally just went home defeated if it was locked. It's not a big deal. But for them to openly talk about how I could be a mystery shopper, how the other dude should've listened and locked the door, or if I'd leave a review was annoying af. I spoke up and asked why theyre saying that stuff literally in front of me and all I got was blank stares. From then on the other guy stayed quiet but Christian remained groaning the entire time and crying that he has a wife and kids as if I didn't just come home from putting my kids to bed and snuck away for a late night meal. This is a tasty burger, no doubt about it. I am not a fan of having 6 tons of French fries pilled on for a single order but there is a generosity element to it which cannot be ignored. Of course, one is paying for said generosity, the cost of the burgers is simply out of hand. 2 people cannot walk out of there for under $45 which is a sign of the times I guess. The only thing that really irks me about this specific Five Guys location near 1604 and 281 is they are very stingy on the fries when compared to locations across the country. You know what I'm talking about. It's the signature Five Guys move. Dump hordes of fries in the bag. Spend $4.50 on the small fries and you generally can feed two very comfortably. Buy the large portion and you would swear you're stealing from the Irish and causing it's next potato famine. You almost feel guilty. But for $7.50-ish that's the expectation the franchise built and it's a popular move - until they stop doing it. At first I thought It was a tipping thing but nope. You get a little bit of cup over flow but that's it. Tonight was simply the cup filled to the top. $4.50 for a very small cup of fries. Yikes. The man at register was beyond courteous. The other woman working appeared to be on break so he was manning the kitchen (all open) as well as register alone. He noted between the previous Customer and us ordering that he would be right back as he needed to put the prior customers patties on grill. I have to say this was one of my most enjoyable experiences. When I first walked in I was looking at the menu and saw a bacon cheese dog. I asked cashier if she's had it she said no, so I asked the cook Brittany if she's had it and told me she has, when I asked her to make one for me exactly how she would eat it she made one that was close to a Philly cheesesteak with jalapeños. This was the first time returning to Five Guys in over 2 years. The burger and fries still taste good:) The atmosphere has changed a lot. There is No more upbeat friendly greeting as you enter the front door. There is also no more acknowledgment to come back again or thank you for coming. Another big change, is the portion of fries. Customers Used to receive a heaping overflowing cup of fries, now just enough to put in the cup. Also, no offer to take a few extra peanuts with you when you leave.I do not know if these changes were a directive from the corporate office, management or a personal action by each employee. Yes, the prices on the menu board have definitely increased. I'm Just giving you a heads up on my observation at the location I went to. Upon walking in, none of the three employees made eye contact and when finally greeted, they were whispering "just tell them we are out of fries." That's weird to be OUT of fries when you hand cut your fries. So you are out of potatoes? When you only serve burgers and potatoes? The worst customer service. When it comes to the food-- they shine like diamonds, y'all. I'm one of those low carb crazies, so I get my double bacon cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce and they don't mess around. Seriously, the other locations need to take note of THIS ONES' burger lettuce wrapping technique. No matter who's making the burger, each one has it down to a science, consistently.
