It's a lot more bland than you'd think and I'd rather drive all the way to Arroyo Grande to get some in out and it'd be way cheaper and 10x better. I had the little cheeseburger and small french fries. My burger took 10-15 mins to come out even though they looked fully staffed and there was only 2 or 3 people ahead of us. This was not a long wait for food in general, but for a fast food place on a slow day...that's a long time. I noticed one of the people had been waiting since before I ordered and he went to the counter to complain about the time. Once I started eating, it immediately reminded me of what hospital food tastes like. Pretty bland, poor cook on the beef patty, uneven cuts on the veggies, very low quality bread. So, I'm at a loss for why this burger costs so much money ("Little Cheeseburger" - $6.39, "Cheeseburger" - $8.39). The French fries were okay. Heard Five Guys SLO was finally open, so stopped in on Sunday afternoon after a long hike in the Irish Hills to try them out. I got a bacon BBQ cheeseburger, lettuce wrapped, with fries and a drink for $15. It seemed like they were running a pretty efficient ship that day, with one person assigned to each task on the line. Even so, the place was packed, so it took nearly 30min to get my order. The burger was super fresh and the bacon was crispy, but the fries were just mediocre at best. My main issue with Five Guys is that you can get the same or better food for nearly half the price at The Habit or In N Out. Of course Habit has no parking, and the nearest In N Out is a 15-20min drive North or South...so, pros and cons. All in all, I don't expect this will be a regular fast food pick for me. read more

I've been to a lot of different five guys and this by far was a disappointing experience. While waiting for my food at the counter a whole bottle of oil fell onto the floor (it was stacked on top of other oil boxes) and it splattered all over my pants and my sweater and none of the employees did anything to assist me. Multiple customers were shocked at the fact that not one employee came over to assist me. A female employee just came and put towels down on the oil and did not assist me what so ever. The lack of help was very disappointing and now I have clothes and brand new shoes that are more then likely ruined! read more

Wife ordered a cheeseburger with onions, I got a double cheeseburger with tomato, jalapeno and onion. The bill was over $20 for two of the absolutely worst burgers I've ever eaten. Being an east coast transplant, I have gone to my share of Five Guys and this place keeps itself up to the standard. Very friendly service, quick and helpful. Burgers are juicy and packed full of the works. Very clean local and close to a donut shop which may get you to stay in that little shopping area for quite some time. read more

Went in today at 1:00. The burgers were very good & service was very good but I was disturbed by the behavior of the cook towards the young man that was cooking french fries & wrapping up orders. The cook appeared to be reprimanding & bullying the young man. It was unprofessional behavior & uncomfortable for the other customers. Hopefully this is not an every day occurrence, if I was that young man I would have walked off my shift & never return. I won't be a returning customer for a long while. Great, fast service and enough tables for plenty of customers. They even have one of those cool flavored soda machines! The only downside is the sanitation. I have never been to a five guys that promotes its customers to throw their peanut shells on the ground. Thats unsightly and promoting people to not clean up after themselves. This place was great. Much better than most fast food and a ton of customization options.The dinning area was clean and the food came out quickly. The burgers were juicy and well cooked. I love how you can add grilled onions and mushrooms to the burgers here. The burgers do get soggy pretty quickly because of the all the grilled vegtables and grease so I would suggest eating these burgers immediately rather than taking them home. Don't bother! It's absolutely way too expensive and the food is horrible! They don't have combos so you have to order your burger, fries and drink all separately. The fries were way too salty and the burger was a greasy mess! It was so greasy it literally slipped out of my hands and onto the table where it left a puddle of grease. Changing the hours to closing at 7 is a little ridiculous. This is a college town and most people don't eat dinner until after 7. They forgot the pickle! I might've given this burger 4 stars as it really had potential. But for me, pickle adds an essential dimension to a burger - a perfect sour/acidic counterpoint to the rich fattiness of the meat and cheese. Without pickle, the burger falls flat, as did this one. Ironically, pickle was the one ingredient I repeated twice to the guy who took my order because I wanted to make sure it was in there. Unfortunately, I brought the burger back to my house to escape the noisy crowdedness of the restaurant and when I discovered the pickle was missing, I decided I wasn't going to go all the way back to have them fix it. As a local I like to give the new restaurants a try and I had not been to this chain before. I went in at lunch time, it wasn't busy, just a few tables taken, but the one we sat at was dirty and so were many others. I tried to get an employees attention but ended up cleaning it with wet napkins. It was very noisy with all the kitchen equipment like fridges, fryer, blowers, but most annoying was the hard metal rock playing. I ordered the veggie sandwich... it was a soggy, tasteless mess. Clerk had asked if I wanted cheese and I said yes, but there wasn't any on it. The fries were good. I don't like that they insist on putting the order in a brown bag even when you are going to eat there; wasteful. As I left, I asked the clerk about peanuts, as I had heard that was their thing, she pointed me to 1 box that was on a stack of boxes and it had a closed baggie of peanuts that you can get to if you open it; seemed like they don't want to promote that. 1 star because of the good french fries. read more
