The burgers are huge and delicious. I order the 1/2 pound mushroom burger. You get so many sliced mushrooms they spill out of the burger. I can taste the freshness of the ground beef. My #1 go to for the best burger! I always make sure to order the clam chowder. It is one of the best New England clam chowders I have had! It is chock full of chunks of clams and potatoes! Stipped into Sylvester's on a cruise down PCH from Pismo Beach. It's a small spot along the highway with sewting inside and outside. They say they were voted best burger around, and from the looks of the burgers my friends got they weren't kidding. These were massive burgers, piled high with veggies. My 3 friends l9ved their burgers and said they tasted amazing. I had the grilled hotdog with the works. That's what it's named on the menu. This was a large ¼ pound beef dog on a nice soft bun, with ketchup, mustard, relish and red onion. Great hotdog! Grilled a bit and smothered in toppings. It hit the spot. This a little hole in the wall restaurant in a small town. The staff are friendly, you can order at a self service electronic thing or order at the front with a person. There's photos all over the walls of people over the years who have visited. My friend and I went for lunch and our burgers were huge even though we didn't order the extra big one so I can only image how big that one is! My burger was well cooked and so juicy. Elk burger- ordered with avocado and jalapeños and they didn't include either one. The burger was dry and honestly feels like it's frozen and thawed out. Had the opportunity to visit Sylvesters Burgers in Oceano recently and I'm happy to report to you my dear Yelp review Readers that this establishment definitely still "has it going on"! At the register taken my order was Cruz (cool dude w/good customer service skills) and right there with him was Jackie (in my previous review and still there "representing"...thank- you Jackie). I ordered my usual a "Heart Attack Burger" 5/5 (free for my birthday, thank-you very much) and a Hand Dipped Corn Dog 5/5 (it was that good...I would have given this a 6/5 if that was possible, of course dear readers...you know it's not) which was part of the February Rewards program. To get the Corn Dog at "no charge" I also ordered some Deep Fried Mushrooms 5/5 (really yummy and not easy to find at local restaurants). Do not sleep on trying their burgers! I moved to Pismo months ago and my step dad keeps asking if I had tried Sylvester's. Finally did and was so beyond thrilled. Between each bite my boyfriend and I would say something like "soooo good" "omg" "delicious" "wow" "fu*********************".. I got the old fashioned with cheese. Simple and so delicious. The patio is dog friendly and they will sometimes have dog bowls of water out for the pups. They also offer puppy patties to buy for your dogs as well. Sometimes they come out on a toy frisbee and others just a plate. The service is fast and friendly, noting that it takes longer when they are busy as it is with any place you go. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They have a gender neutral bathroom so go wash up before you eat. Wife Came across some coupons for some free burgers from here so we got some burgers to go . Me and the wife split the Heart attack - fried egg ,bacon, avocado and Flaming Armadillo cream cheese, roasted jalapenos, mayo. Both were really good . Got some onion rings / Fries . I've dropped some folks at the Melodrama down the street. Last time I dropped folks there Sylvesters was closing early. Not the case tonight, Parking is a bit tight but I managed. There is a Kiosk as you walk in to order your meal, menus are also up on three boards above the counter, all very easy to read. The kiosk was being used by a family and I didn't have a lot of time to wait. I'm old school and prefer to deal with a human. No problem I ordered at the counter, 1/3 Old Fashion burger and a side of fries. They have three sizes of burger patty 4oz, 5.3oz and the 8oz half pounder. Fries and such accompaniment's are sold separately, great for us dieters. The usual set up for a fill it soda fountain with Coca cola items. Dining was comfortable, outside had plenty of umbrella coveted tables, dog friendly. My burger was out PDQ, and I asked for some ranch dressing and bbq sauce, served in a 2oz soufflé cup. On the wild side they have options like elk, Turkey, and a grass fed option, lamb would be nice but perhaps a hard sell in our beef oriented society. The milkshakes are off the hook but Vincent Vega would roll over in his grave at the price, it's well over $5. The 11 burger dress ups is all you will ever need, they got it to a science. The service is alright, normal perhaps above normal fast food customer service. I really, really want to like this place. When I lived Los Osos I would go here, but for the price I would honestly rather go to BK or McDonald's. After enjoying eating at the original location in Los Osos, we tried the Oceano location, which is closer to home. We were disappointed in several respects. This location just didn't have a clean/welcoming feel. First, the music inside was too loud, and some of the tables were not clean. We went outside to also find tables with food scraps still on them, and a large part of a chicken sandwich on the ground near our table. The food was expensive. The biggest disappointment though was the onion rings. I don't know who enjoys such hard deep fried onion rings prepared like this, maybe the folks who bring those dirty off-road vehicles onto the beach, who knows? The best part of the meal was the side salad. Anyway, it was not a good experience overall, and we won't be coming back. read more

Bathrooms. I love this place and both location the restrooms are so gross. They say if they restrooms are not clean the kitchen Is probably the same. There has to be someone that deep cleans the walls and floors or hire it out they always smell and it looks like mold and P on the walls. Even a simple change out of the brushes and plunger maybe set up something more clean that doesn't scream look at me. I never cleaned the bathroom. It really just shows a lack of pride for a restaurant that is so popular bathrooms are number one. Apparently this place has been here for quite some time, so I don't know how I haven't heard about it until recently. But overall it is pretty good. I had a Heart Attack burger and it was amazing! That fried egg on there is sooooo good, though admittedly with that and the sauce, it's pretty messy. The fried zucchini is also great. I wasn't as impressed with much else though. The fries were okay, but nothing to write home about. The garlic fries in particular, the garlic was overdone, as were the onion rings. And the Fruity Pebbles shake sounds like a good idea, but the pebbles themselves end up pretty soggy and having the texture of wet paper. I was with a large group, so we opted for the outdoor seating, and to be perfectly honest the benches were very hard and uncomfortable, and they made my butt hurt, and I wasn't the only one. I had to get up a few times and walk around a bit to relieve the pain. The indoor seating is good though. The service was also just okay. It was a bit on the slow side. And I asked the employee who brought our food to bring out a salt shaker but it never came. There also isn't a whole lot to the ambiance, because most of the walls are covered in pictures of patrons who celebrated birthdays there or tried The Big One challenge there. Which is nice, but could use a little more variation in my opinion. Also the big menu wall is situated in kind of an odd way, where you can't actually see it when you are at the register, you have to step back in order to see it. They do have a small print copy affixed to the counter. Overall, it's not perfect, but that burger and those fried zucchinis are good enough to make it worth it. The Philly cheesesteak looked really good too. I'm going to have to try it the next time I go. A person in my party got it and I was going to ask them if I could have a bite after I had some of my own food, but I looked back and suddenly it was all gone! My husband just came home without his dinner. He waited 50 minutes- the staff gave his turkey burger to another customer, as he was sitting, waiting. Multiple people came and went. Prices doubled!? This price RISE is absolutely unreasonable!! I wasn't careful enough when ordering because while it wasn't cheap, Syl didn't used to be overly expensive. I got a 1/3 heart attack burger, a soda and an order of onion rings. This wouldn't have been such a pricy meal in times past, but their prices are absolutely unbelievable now. The burger was $20, onion rings $8!! Soda was $4. We spent $52 and my boyfriend just got a small burger and a single beer. It used to be $11.95 for this same burger . . We live right next to this restaurant and now there's no way we can go there anymore. Fix the prices or change your serving sizes or you're not going to survive. The onion rings were huge. There's no reason you can't offer a $4 version, for example. The burger... it's just unreasonable. That price used to be only $11. Normal people won't be able to eat here now. I'm not getting paid any more now than I did a year ago. No wonder no one was there. We saw only 2 people that didn't work there the entire time we were there. It's very, very sad.
