Old fashioned with cheese and chili fries
    Samantha R.

Do not sleep on trying their burgers! I moved to Pismo months ago and my step dad keeps asking if I had tried Sylvester's. Finally did and was so beyond thrilled. Between each bite my boyfriend and I would say something like "soooo good" "omg" "delicious" "wow" "fu*********************".. I got the old fashioned with cheese. Simple and so delicious. A side of chili fries (also really good), and a side of their. Veggies look fresh, burger was juicy and flavorful. Special sauce is delicious!!!

Not sure what's happened to this place but it's not as good as it used to be. Great service 5/5 but the food was bad. Elk burger- ordered with avocado and jalapeños and they didn't include either one. The burger was dry and honestly feels like it's frozen and thawed out. Zero seasoning on anything and just a bland and dry burger. The fries did have seasoning but were really stale. I don't think I'm coming back. For how expensive their burgers are you expect quality but this was anything but.

Walk up order. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Photos or customers cover the walls from birthday visits.

Amazing food, fresh and made to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is cool, lots of photos of guests from today and years past who have celebrated their birthdays here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio is dog friendly and they will sometimes have dog bowls of water out for the pups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also offer puppy patties to buy for your dogs as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sometimes they come out on a toy frisbee and others just a plate. The service is fast and friendly, noting that it takes longer when they are busy as it is with any place you go. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They have a gender neutral bathroom so go wash up before you eat. They also offer a vegan menu from Ziggy's as well as their own Sylvester's menu so there's something for everyone!

Had the opportunity to visit Sylvesters Burgers in Oceano recently and I'm happy to report to you my dear Yelp review Readers that this establishment definitely still "has it going on"! At the register taken my order was Cruz (cool dude w/good customer service skills) and right there with him was Jackie (in my previous review and still there "representing"...thank- you Jackie). I ordered my usual a "Heart Attack Burger" 5/5 (free for my birthday, thank-you very much) and a Hand Dipped Corn Dog 5/5 (it was that good...I would have given this a 6/5 if that was possible, of course dear readers...you know it's not) which was part of the February Rewards program. To get the Corn Dog at "no charge" I also ordered some Deep Fried Mushrooms 5/5 (really yummy and not easy to find at local restaurants). The total bill came out at $33.85 and I paid $7.74...pretty good deal I'd say! The food was delicious, the customer service very accommodating and the "value", crazy good! With that said dear readers...in this Yelper's opinion, on this occasion as in many previous occasions...Sylvesters Burgers in Oceano once again "hit all the marks" and deservedly earns this " highly recommend- best local burger joint" 5 Star review.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Sylvester's looks like an old time 80's style burger place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walk up to the counter to order your food and grab a table inside or outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It kinda kitchy and quirky, but when you check out the menu--dang. Drop the mic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Sure, you can order every burger just about every way imaginable. But, you can also order buffalo ,(yummy!) elk, turkey , or chicken. Hot dogs your thing? Well, on Sundays they are half off! Which reminds me. Everyday there is a different special. Fries, of all flavor, onion rings-super good, sweet potato fries, just to name a few me a few. Got that "I'm really crazing a REAL burger kinda hangry? I found it for you! Enjoy

Wife Came across some coupons for some free burgers from here so we got some burgers to go . Me and the wife split the Heart attack - fried egg ,bacon, avocado and Flaming Armadillo cream cheese, roasted jalapenos, mayo. Both were really good . Got some onion rings / Fries . Both were good and crispy. Really big onion rings and good . Service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool little spot and nice inside with outdoor seating as well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Didn't get food photos but all was good . Enjoyed this spot will be back . Enjoy !!!!

I've dropped some folks at the Melodrama down the street. Last time I dropped folks there Sylvesters was closing early. Not the case tonight, Parking is a bit tight but I managed. There is a Kiosk as you walk in to order your meal, menus are also up on three boards above the counter, all very easy to read. The kiosk was being used by a family and I didn't have a lot of time to wait. I'm old school and prefer to deal with a human. No problem I ordered at the counter, 1/3 Old Fashion burger and a side of fries. They have three sizes of burger patty 4oz, 5.3oz and the 8oz half pounder. Fries and such accompaniment's are sold separately, great for us dieters. The usual set up for a fill it soda fountain with Coca cola items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dining was comfortable, outside had plenty of umbrella coveted tables, dog friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My burger was out PDQ, and I asked for some ranch dressing and bbq sauce, served in a 2oz soufflé cup. Now I had bbq burger and ranch fries. All was served hot and fast, just the way we like it. Thank you fooguy -martin

Absolutely loved this spot - stopped here after a fun beach day and was not dissapointed I got the burger salad - HUGE serving sizes and burger was amazing, it lasted two meals for me which was awesome boyfriend got the heart attack burger and he devoured it. but if there's one thing u must must get it's the strawberry shake and fries!!!! BEST in the west :) staff was amazing too - definitely coming back

They are high quality burgers for certain. I make it a point the get here on my birthday for the free one. On the wild side they have options like elk, Turkey, and a grass fed option, lamb would be nice but perhaps a hard sell in our beef oriented society. The milkshakes are off the hook but Vincent Vega would roll over in his grave at the price, it's well over $5. The 11 burger dress ups is all you will ever need, they got it to a science. The service is alright, normal perhaps above normal fast food customer service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venues are the same across the board adorned with images of patrons on their birthdays eating badass burgers some with funny hats it's a must see.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are near one and craving a burger definitely do it.

Easy parking with level entry. Manager Jackie gave us a nice greeting. We ordered the Mushroom Burger! Also the Zuchini and Onion Rings! Cooked perfectly and crunchy and not oily! Burger was amazing!!! Jackie is quick, polite, and helpful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restroom was very clean, as were the tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We love this place! If you love hand dipped onion rings.... This is the place!!!

Happy happy! Service is great friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating outside is perfect and peaceful plenty of space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

And if you are in the area, south of Pismo Beach, this would be a fun place for a group to come and drink their alcohol and snack, 4-star. Two old rail cars from the pre-1960s. One a dining car and the other was a lounge car/bar. Bathrooms are outside. Location is right off the beach and I think it is off Hwy One on Railroad Ave. Open 8am - 8pm every day. Parking along the street...easy. Menu: Great breakfasts with that California/Mexican touch offering Machacha, tri-tips with eggs, Huevos Rancheros, Chorizo and Eggs and breakfast burritos. $16 - 22. And regular American style egg dishes, including omelets and scrambles. Lunch & dinner is burgers, salads, sandwiches, BBQ, and wings and the Greek influence (owner must be a Greek) of spanikopita, moussaka, lamb and shrimp dishes (up to $30). Surprising for a small place not on the main drag. Kids will love the experience and those of us who grew up with railroads, a trip on memory lane. Worth a visit.

I ordered the beef ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy, chili, and bread. The ribs had less flavor than the menu and were mostly fat and gristle. I spent more time excavating edible meat than actually eating it. The mashed potatoes were so chunky they could have qualified as landscaping material, and the gravy had the consistency of train-car axle grease. As for the chili, I'm about 99% sure it was straight out of a can of Dennison's. If you're going to serve canned chili, at least don't make it obvious. By the end of the meal, I felt like I'd paid for a first-class ticket and ended up riding in the baggage car. Save yourself the fare and steer clear of this train wreck. In response to Mario. Thank you for proving to everyone reading the reviews that I wasn't the problem. I criticized the food. You attacked the customer. Reviews help people decide where to spend their money. A family owned business, open for breakfast and lunch and serving great home-cooked meals. We had to wait for a bit for a table; they have a pad and pen on the stand outside and you put your name and the number of your party on the pad. As spots open either inside or out, a young man would come over and scratch off the next in line. Once called, our server, Aaron, came over to offer drinks and see if we had any questions. It was busy and he was definitely working a large number of tables but at the same time he was attentive and pleasant. Wife had oatmeal with the addition of blueberries and nuts and I chose the hamburger patty with eggs over medium. The oatmeal was good, nothing out of the world and the berries were fresh...she had to ask for the nuts because they didn't come out initially. My breakfast was good...burger was thin and cooked through but not dry and the eggs were almost medium! Served with home fries, which I think were a bit greasy but tasty. Daughter and son-in-law had the strawberry waffle and she said it was tasty, malty, and fresh strawberries (not that gel-like goo some places cover their waffles with) and lots of fresh whip cream. They also ordered bacon, well done and it came without that well-done crispy way of cooking bacon. Overall a good, solid breakfast spot with good food. No pictures this time around...

He had tried it before, so this was my first time here. As I looked over the menu everything sounded good and pics of the food helped me make my final choice for lunch. The service was excellent, the cashier was friendly and patient with us ordering (since it was my first time here). We decided to sit in the patio area since it was nice day, even though there was a little bit of construction noise next door, it didn't take away from hearing the great music selection. Moments later a server brought out the food, everything smelled and looked delicious. He ordered fish N' chips w/upgraded garlic fries, (we love garlic fries!) some of the best garlic fries we've had, every bite was garlicky & dipped in ranch...mmmmm perfect combo. The fish was tender but crispy bites from the batter. I ordered the Pismo wrap (could be shared), I was not expecting it to be so packed with all the fillings. It was stuffed with sliced tri-tip, curly fries, avocado, pepper jack cheese, and bbq sauce. Every bite was so satisfying, flavorful and had a little bit of everything. Some saltiness from the fries to sweetness from the bbq sauce, well balanced (I did add some cholula sauce because I enjoy some spiciness). Definitely added as a stop when doing a day trip to Pismo. I'll be recommending friends/family to make a stop at Hoagies if they're ever in the area and they're looking for a chomp because a bite isn't enough. So after all the shopping/walking, pick up some Hoagies and head to the beach (which is walking distance), because great food deserves a great view!

I decided to give Hoagie's a try -- I usually go elsewhere for my cod wrap when in the area. I…read morerequested the cabbage and tomato instead of curly French fries inside the wrap -- and fries came on the side, anyway. The counterperson taking my order kept saying lettuce, and I repeated a few times, you mean cabbage, since that's what is written on the menu, and they seemed a bit confused.. But it did come with lettuce, not cabbage (?). Hmm. The fish was okay, but not fried to enough of a crisp, so it was not crunchy. It was also a relatively small amount of cod in the the burrito wrap. I say burrito wrap as the tortilla was pretty thick and barely toasted. I did see other patrons sitting at the tables with much toastier-looking wraps, and it looked like the steak wrap came in a wheat tortilla. So is there more than one kind of tortilla? The tartar sauce was middle of the road and there was not enough of it in the wrap for my tastes - I like sauce. But I could not get more for the side, as the line was out the door by the time I discovered I could use more tartar sauce! So while it was fine, and the fish seemed fresh, I was somewhat disappointed, and did not munch this wrap with the zeal that I do the one from the other locale in town where I typically buy the killer cod wrap. The curly fries were good and well salted. Lots of people sitting outside; tables could've been cleaned better. Maybe staff should come out and wipe them down periodically.

We were sorry to see that location close down and extend our sympathies to Dallas (Owner) at having to close that location down (good help is so hard to find). Regardless, it won't keep us away from Brooks...cause the food is still "bangin". Yesterday's order was to go...we always ate "in" at the SLO location (just a "nicer ambiance") but always "take out" from Pismo (not thrilled with the fact that there is an added "take out fee" for this on your bill). Jaxon was our Order/Cashier associate on this occasion. He was personable in service and knowledgeable with regard to menu offerings. The restaurant wasn't as busy as I expected at 7PM but it took "a bit" to get the order out. Nevertheless..it was "on the money accurate" (exactly what we ordered/wanted) and that in my opinion...is worth waiting for. Our order : 2X Black and Blue Salads (4/5...yummy) and a Crispy Chicken Combo with Tater Tots (5/5...delicious). I had a "Combo Coupon" ($10 Combo instead of regular price), but still the bill was basically $43 dollars. Somewhat of a "value factor" because with a salad each, we were able to share the Crispy Chicken and were completely satisfied with our meal. Dallas (Owner) was already gone for the day, so we missed saying "hi". In this Yelper's opinion...on this "take-out" occasion because the food is still really "bussin", Brooks Burgers in Pismo Beach truly earned this 4 Star review.
