THE GRUB We always opt for the little cheeseburgers ($8.89 each) which is just a bit smaller than a quarter-pounder. The patties are thick and juicy and usually cooked medium well unless you specifically ask otherwise. They offer my favorites fixings: mayo, lettuce, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. My daughters and I also enjoy their hand-cut fries. We shared a large ($7.59) and good thing because the young lady who packed our bag filled our cup and then dumped a scoop more into our bag! I love it when they do that... I'm not sure why this place has such a low rating. I enjoyed a very good burger and I found the service to be pleasant and courteous. After a disappointing experience checking out a potential new vehicle I was headed back home when I saw this place. I hadn't eaten at a Five Guys since leaving Florida- a year ago, ...and so I had to pull in! I ordered my favorite - the Bacon Cheeseburger and when the employee asked "single paddy or double?", I paused for only a second and said "double, and all the way" (go bold, or go home, right?, ha!). To drink, I ordered their cherry Dr Pepper. It did take a while to receive my meal because it was noon time and several people came in who had called in earlier. Also, there were 4 people ahead of me. Eventually my number was called, I received my bagged burger from a friendly employee who wished me a good day, and I was off to the parking lot (no dine in) and to my vehicle where I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Most five guys are usually pretty good, but there's something about this location. Everything is just kind of mediocre. Food is usually lukewarm, aside from the fries. It's pretty damn expensive for a burger joint. We paid seven dollars for a large fry and it was basically the size of a small fry from any other place. Had never been to a Five guys and was really anticipating going....it was a bad burger & burnt fries. No ketchup in the manual machine...the ketchup packets were all stuck together (sticky). There was only one bathroom and a man that was standing just outside the door of the restaurant came in and stayed for over 20 minutes. (Code was needed to get in) Really bad customer service. After one week in business, Santa Fe's newest burger franchise is ably holding down the Northwest corner of the central Zafarano shopping center. Today I stopped by for lunch, and was greeted by the same familiar sights and sounds of Five Guys locations from California to New York. The dominant colors of red, white, and black are ever-present. I get the feeling that the managers may have been overzealous hiring people ahead of the grand opening, as there were A LOT of employees running around. I wonder if that'll be the same a month from now. The employees were generally helpful and conscientious. An older staff member approached me at one point and asked if I had any trash she could throw away for me. Never experienced this before; I handed her my greasy, crumpled-up napkins. Afterwards, I realized she might have been encouraging me to leave and free up space for new customers. Sorry, I stayed as long as I wanted. I went a little overboard with my sandwhich, ordering two patties with cheese and bacon, plus a whole slew of other toppings. Since the add-ons are free here, get as much as you want. I also opted for an order of french fries. The food was good. Five Guys bleeds consistency. While mine wasn't the best burger I've ever had from them, it was awesome being able to eat it on my lunch break. Odds are, I'll be back. read more

I'm a Five Guys fan. I've eaten at my fair share of locations, from California to New England. They vary in quality of customer service and food. But this Santa Fe location, though its employees are cheerful and polite, produces truly subpar food. I visited two years ago and then today, and both times the patties on my burger were lukewarm, the "grilled" onions hard to chew through, and the fries cooked improperly (the oil isn't hot enough, I think), tasting gummy and oil-logged rather than crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle. For $13.30 with tax, I expect a more satisfying lunch. I threw out 95% of the fries and found the burger off-putting. read more

I really like the burgers even though they are extremely expensive. My biggest issue is this location is NEVER clean. The tables are dirty, the floors are worse. The most disgusting thing is the ketchup. Every time I visit (3 different times) The packets have burst and then stick together. When you try to get ketchup, they are stuck together and gooey. I'm a native of Northern VA and I've been eating Five Guys for 30 years. Growing up it was a legitimate treat and always worth the wait. My experience at this specific location was disappointingly underwhelming. Beyond the fact that we waited over an hour only to receive three bags of ice cold food. The order was missing a burger and one of them was prepared wrong. Also the quality of food here is just...really not great.
