    Shrimp Egg Foo Young

I happened to be in the neighborhood and having missed lunch I decided to give them another try after the last terrible meal I had there. I called in and ordered hot and sour soup and decided to take my coworker an order of egg rolls as I was going back to the office to enjoy my soup. My soup was actually pretty good and my co worker enjoyed the egg rolls - they looked hot and crispy. I had to return to the same neighborhood yesterday so I decided to give in to my cravings and I called in the same order again. This time? The lady answering the phone questioned why my area code was not local? She was absolutely rude questioning me "are you in New Orleans, are you here???' Which is odd because they used to know my number when I would call in a to go order. Anyway, order was picked up, I return to work and open the egg rolls. Greasy, half cooked, oil all over the box, NOTHING like the order I had previously picked up. Learned my lesson - these owners and managers of 5 Happiness DO NOT CARE. They are rude and happy to provide you tasteless, oily food. Here's a pic of the soggy, oily egg rolls. I won't be back.

The food is just ok, I feel like there may be better options. There wasn't a lot of flavor. The service was also just ok, my waitress was nice. But I had gnats around my table so I couldn't eat comfortably.

Really large portions for great prices. The service was quick and helpful! The ambiance inside was better than I expected from the outside. We got the Peking duck which ended up being 5 meals for us with the crepes, rice, and green onion included. The beef lo mein was good but I'd get a different meat next time. They bring wonton crisps when you're seated which are addicting!

Very impressive. I eat a lot of Chinese food and I have to say this place has the best Wonton soup I've ever had. The order, delivered by Uber Eats arrived 25 minutes ahead of schedule. It was a little pricey, but honestly, as good as it was, I'm not complaining. I could easily eat the Lo Mein for two meals.

Cute fabric bag for delivery orders!

Our waiter, Jonathan, made the experience unforgettable. He took the time to sit down with us, walk us through the menu, and share his recommendations--and every single one was spot on. We ordered the blackened redfish, catfish, gumbo, savory cheesecake, bread pudding, and vanilla bean crème brûlée. Every dish was outstanding! And we can't forget the cornbread--the aroma of warm butter hits you the moment it's placed on your table. It was the perfect way to start the meal. What really stood out was the staff. Every waiter worked together as a team, helping one another and creating such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed what they do, and it made the entire dining experience even more special. From the incredible food to the exceptional service and inviting ambiance, everything was top-notch. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to dine here--you won't regret it! A special thank you to Jonathan from the family from Texas for making our visit so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

The meal was already so filling, but our wonderful Daniel brought us a toasted coconut caramel bread pudding with 4 spoons! This place is packed every day after 7pm, but if you come early...you should be able to score a table. Reservations can be made for larger parties. It's a little out of the way, but worth the trip!

The restaurant had a nice environment and good hospitality. For appetizers, I tried the sizzling jumbo gulf shrimp and char-grilled oysters. Those shrimp were absolutely amazing, the grill added such a great flavor and that garlic butter sauce was drinkable!!! My only complaint was that you only get 4 shrimp that were not jumbo in my eyes, so i'd say this dish was overpriced. While I didn't order the char-grilled oysters I went ahead and tried one. I was hesitant but I was pleasantly surprised, the texture reminded me of a mushroom and the parmesan crust was really good on it. All entrees came with a salad that I wasn't expecting and while the dressing isn't my usual go-to it was really good!!! I couldn't even tell you what it was but it was sweet, garlicky, herbaceous and had a lot of parmesan in it! For my main I ordered the Salmon Lafitte which was grilled salmon with a side of orzo. The salmon had great flavor but was more on the well done side rather than medium well as requested but it was very fresh. The creamy orzo with mushrooms and spinach stole the show. It was delicious and so flavorful, you may need to add salt to it but all the ingredients complemented each other so well and made a very good dish. My sister ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken with Broccolini and Mashed Potatoes which was also a very good dish. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well throughout, again maybe slightly overcooked but the flavor was delicious and the garlic butter sauce that came with it was divine!! Overall, I will definitely be dining here again! I had a memorable time and look forward to making my next visit here!

It was super close to where we were staying, and since I didn't catch a seafood boil in the Quarter or anywhere else in town, I had to try this spot. My friend and I had our eyes on it, but once our Uber driver confirmed it was a bomb spot, we were all in and it did not disappoint. I even met a lady who drives 45 minutes just to get here, so if she makes that trek, you know this is the spot. I will be dreaming of this place! Being takeout-only gave it that authentic, local vibe, and I loved every bite. Unlike the typical mixed seafood boils, they bag everything separately, and I mixed it all together once I got back to my place. They have some garlic butter you can add, and I got it spicy! It definitely had a kick, and I loved it. I had a pound of shrimp, added sausage, two boiled eggs, the BOMBEST potatoes and corn, all tossed with the spicy garlic butter and I devoured it. Let me just brag on that shrimp and those potatoes for a second: both were amazing. The potatoes were cooked to perfection! Soft, not mushy, and seasoned just right. And the shrimp? Wow. I can still taste it. If you're in NOLA, you have to check this spot out! I will say one more thing though I wish I had room to try the gumbo! I would have loved to taste it here. Lastly, I didn't get to grab a po' boy in town, so we came back the next morning to try one. Sadly, the seafood section wasn't ready yet (we went around 10:30am), but the roast beef po' boy with gravy, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and maybe few other ingredients in it was incredible. I loved it! You'll definitely catch me here again next time I'm in town. 10,000/10. Thank you, cooks! A few practical things: if you're driving, there's parking. The service was friendly, prices were great, and while there isn't indoor seating, the waiting area is decent-sized. Just know it can get busy!

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.
