I ordered the butter garlic shrimp plate, it had two scoops of rice, plump freshly cooked to order shrimp, salad, and pineapple with li hing. It was all delicious. Better than some top shrimp trucks in the north shore. I did add a touch of salt and it was delicious. For the price, made to order, and plump shrimp I'd definitely come back. The cook was talking in her AirPods and prepping food, if I didn't get her attention, not sure how long it would've taken her to notice my order came in. You do have to order at the bar. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. When your food's ready, you grab it at the front. I got the Butter Shrimp plate, which came with two scoops of white rice, shrimp covered in butter, a tiny side salad (more like some greens covered in mayo), pineapple, and lemon. The flavors were simple but tasty; I especially enjoyed rubbing my rice in the butter. You have to peel the skin and tails off the shrimp, which I unfortunately didn't realize until after I ate a few of them. Speaking of, the shrimp were firm and juicy. Although, I wasn't getting a super strong lemon flavor, the shrimp was still solid. We also ordered the Spicy Shrimp in the Pineapple Boat. Both the Garlic and Spicy Shrimp were cooked & seasoned so well, and we found that having both the Spicy and Garlic flavors complemented each other. Loved the Pineapple Boat, specifically! The pineapple was super sweet - we found ourselves scraping ever piece of the pineapple boat down to the last bite. They are super generous with their servings of shrimp. Shrimp was frozen and the steak was so chewy that I had to spit it into my plate. It's definitely not anything like Giovanni's because they use prawns and 5 Star uses frozen shrimp. We also came here for the $9 Thursday special and when asking about it the cashier rudely told me they don't do that anymore. No apology or explanation. We love the Waikiki Food Hall, and Five Star Shrimp was the first place we tried when we discovered WFH. The garlic shrimp was so good (perfectly cooked, lovely garlic flavor but not too much), and it came with a nice fresh salad, rice with furikake and some cut pineapple with ling hing mui (Yum!) sprinkled on top. Paired with a cold beer from the bar--it was a perfect lunch for a break from the beach. The kids got the shrimp ramen bowl (garlic) and the pesto garlic shrimp plate. The ramen was a hit. The pesto garlic was just okay, but I think the kiddo ordered this without realizing what pesto was. She still cleaned her plate. The plates come with two scoops of rice and a salad with ranch. I'm not a ranch fan, so I didn't eat my salad and yet I still felt full. Would eat here again and suggest finding this place if you are in the Royal Hawaiian vicinity.
